Watching Survivor Series 92 for the first time ever, and in a pre-match interview Savage tells Perfect that they've never wrestled each other.  They seemed to be heels/faces at the same time in WWF, and then both were NWO in WCW.  So did Savage and Hennig ever have a match?   Seems like a heel Perfect vs. face Savage would've been a classic, but the timing never was right for a feud ​ Yeah, I really can't recall a time when they met.  Both were heels when Savage was still active in early 91 so there's no potential for crossover there.  I don't recall them ever meeting in WCW, either.  And yeah, it would have been a hell of a match.   ​

I finally got around to watch "The Life and Times of Mr. Perfect" and this is another what if. If Hennig doesn't suffer the back injury, do you think he, over Bret, gets the 1992 push for the World Title? It always irks me that he never got another World Title run.  ​No, because moreso than his back problems he had pretty major drug problems at a time when that was the last thing that the company needed from someone on top.  Plus he wasn't what you'd call particularly dependable.  Would he have been a good champion on top?  Probably.  Just don't see it happening.  ​

Hey Scott, So WWE pay-per-views went from $44.95 to $9.99. On the surface that looks like a huge drop and a lot of money lost. However, didn't WWE only see a small percentage of that $44.95 anyway? I seem to remember reading somewhere that inDemand got 50% of that right off the bat and then the cable/satellite company got a percentage of the remaining balance? Maybe they only ended up with $9.99 from that PPV buy? Any info on this? ​They made a large percentage on it, basically a 50/50 split with the cable companies.  They are losing a TON of money by killing off the PPV business model.  If they can get Network subscriptions up to the magic million mark it will level off the losses again, but there's a lot to be said for the way they blindsided cable companies with this whole thing and basically sabotaged any further relationships they might have if the Network doesn't work out.  And really, even just Wrestlemania and the Rumble staying on traditional PPV would prob...

We're closing in on Road Wild in a few weeks which looks like a more logical (well, more than the rest of the summer) show, albeit far more boring. Maybe they'll let the wrestling dominate the show and it could be entertaining. And maybe I'll grow wings and fly through a tree made of locusts and encounter the Great Potato. Let's get to it.

I think one of the most underrated irritating things from the Attitude Era is Earl Hebner telegraphing the finish of a match by making the three count roughly twice as slow as his usual cadence. I realize he was doing this for dramatic effect, but God it rubs me the wrong way. I seem to remember some discussion of the slow count at the time, but the Network has gotten me all lathered up about it again. Say this for the current crop of refs - I don't know any of them, which is good because it means none of them are drawing attention away from where it should be. Unless you're Tommy Young, no referee should be the focus of the match.  Anyone who gets knocked unconscious for 10 minutes by a clothesline doesn't warrant a name anyway.  And yes, I HATED that slow count shit as well.   That being said, Charles Robinson is still great.  

Hey Scott, With the WWE's track record of doing such things (for example, Austin's hugging gimmick being an inside joke on DDP's propensity for hugging backstage), do you think that Kofi Kingston/New Day's positivity gimmick (in particular the grilling Kofi received while on commentary on Monday) has something to do with reports that he's totally content with his place on the card so long as he has a job? As seemingly laid back, unconfrontational 'millenials', I'd imagine Big E and Xavier Woods are much the same. I find it too hard to keep track of which gimmick is a rib on which guys anymore because everything is basically one big gag for Vince's amusement anyways.  However, in the case of the New Day, as I understand it the original idea was supposed to be a more militant crew in the spirit of the Nation of Domination, before the Ferguson incident forced them to instead switch the gimmick 180 degrees into the "dancing black...

Scott, I'm powering through Nitros in 1995 and am still amazed by the oddball Lex and Sting angle. They are best friends but Lex goes with the Dungeon of Doom and is kind of a pseudo face/heel still? It's so bizarre. Has there ever been an angle like that where someone is a heel but has a best friend face and they kinda walk that line for months and months? Also, the main event of Nitro before Starrade 1995 was a Ric Flair vs Macho Man match for the belt! What a throw-away. Was the NJPW Starrcade a success or a dud? Guessing a dud since it hasn't really happened since. Also Hulk is unbearable as the loose cannon with a chair while Macho Man is champ, always needing the last word or anything on every show. Picked up my comics this Wednesday but didn't get a chance to read them until yesterday.  Did DC really release two of their tippy-top titles on the exact same day, both running storylines of an enormous contagious disease running rampant through an urban setting with the heroes scrambling against the clock trying to find 'Patient Zero'? Yeah, I'm taking a break from comics for a while.  All the endless events on both sides were getting to be a bit much (especially on the DC side lately) and Superior Spider-Man coming to an end (along with Superior Foes) kind of deflated me a lot.  So I'm taking some time off and coming back in smaller doses after DC is done with their Convergence stuff and everything calms down again.   But yeah, DC in general doesn't seem like it's particularly well-run at the moment from an editorial standpoint, especially with all the contradictory versions of Superman and Wonder Woman and such at the moment.  

Not a whole lot going on tonight. There are games in the NBA and NHL that you can discuss here if you want or talk abut anything else you can think of too.
