Quick note

I've already had to ban Stixxy today because he's only been back for a day and I'm already sick of hearing from him, so let me just say this for the millionth time: I have zero tolerance for people trying to use this website as a forum for launching personal attacks or carrying on feuds from other boards or whatever. I was going to be nice about it with Stixxy by invoking a new rule where the first step would be moderating future comments before they were posted, but the first thing that came into the queue from him was a completely off-topic and rather vicious attack against a poster, so he's gone. However, I do like that approach for reasonable people, so if someone is being a pest, that'll be the first step.

Comments

  1. Stixxy shouldn't have been allowed on here in the first place.

Even his icon pisses me off because I hate freaking Kevin Smith movies but I know you like them.

Dammit! Couldn't you have banned him BEFORE I wrote up that whole big long thing in the Kobashi thread? I'm glad I didn't go any further in depth than I did. :)

  3. I'm already liking this new site alot more. The zero tolerance policy seems like a winner.

  4. Stixxy got banned? Next dogs and cats will be living together.

  5. I better watch myself with Elvy, then! Not, but seriously, I'll be good. I try to be positive all the time anyway. Let me know if I cross the line, Scott, and I'll clean up the act.

Wait, does this mean we can't tell the Aristocrats joke? Because I think with the minds on this board, we could make a pretty good one in a thread, building off of each other.

  6. I hope you don't think his avatar is Brian O' Halloran; why the hate on Kevin Smith? Clerks & Chasing Amy were great.

    Mass hysteria!

  8. My God, I just went back and checked the AD recap thread... what an asshole! Good work banning that shit, Scott. Seriously. Thank you.

Can we do the Aristocrats thread now?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Most people that cross the line do it by accident, so moderating first time offenders is the way to go. And I wondered why you let Stixxy on here in the first place, since it was only a matter of time before you kicked him to the curb.

I do like the new site better than the LJ version, BTW.

  10. Yeah, he was expressing his opinion and criticizing people who claim "If you don't like the same show I do it's because you're stupid and just don't get it." WHAT A DICK!!!!

Stixxy mocking AD>begging Scooter for permission to do a thread where you tell the lame Aristocrats joke.

And for the morons- I'm not Stixxy/NotStixxy. Also, he wasn't banned from the LJ version.

NOBODY PROVIDE AN OPINION CONTRARY TO THE GREAT KEITH!

Saying that you are not not something is a double negative, which in fact means you are said person. So you really are stixxy.

  12. Anyone on here monitoring the old blog and how a handful of us are keeping it alive lol? Led by our ever talented leader Tom Cruise of course.

  13. The old blogspot site was better than both of them, it had a better layout, loaded quicker and was more user friendly.

I hate Kevin Smith movies because I grew up. I think the appeal for them really dies out after you turn 17 or 18 and I'm 21 now. I think that explains why Clerks 2 made about five dollars at the box office. His audience completely outgrew what he was selling. The acting in his films is terrible, they're cast with all his friends making snarky little in joke references and he can't figure out how to make a screenplay that actually works up on a screen, instead of writing deliverable chunks of lines he writes big monologues that nobody in the films can wrap their mouths around to use a Tobias line. I also think it's pretty shameful how he quickly sold out his fans to make a PG rated chick flick and did an about face when he realized that audience didn't care for him and pandered to them with a new Clerks movie. I really really did like those movies in 8th grade, now that I've actually seen some classic movies and stuff I've also realized how atrocious the framing and compositions are in some of his movies, Chasing Amy isn't that bad for an indie film but Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Dogma really exposed him to have no idea what he's doing working with a wide cinematic scope. He should let someone else direct his screenplays and stay on as producer.

And if it's not Brian O'Halloran, it's someone who I could give even less of a crap about.

  14. Actually, it wasn't the mocking of AD which got his ass banned. It was the ridiculous mocking of individuals. I understood his point, that there is a certain pretentious slant to people that rally for AD and other similar shows like Sports Night, but he was an honest to God dick about it. And he was trolling as he managed to make a smarmy "holier than thou" comments all over the thread.

And I may get a warning for this, but get off the blog if you have such an issue with it. I'm sure there are other places you can hang out and swing your big internet dick.

  15. I dunno if I'm on postbation or if the site fucked up but I'll try again.

Stixxy also went by NotStixxy. I'm "not NotStixxy", not "not not Stixxy".

Try to keep up with me.

  16. Clerks 2 made $23 mil while Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Dogma both made $30 mil. That's about what was expected, maybe a little lower. That tells me that most of his audience hung around.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I would say he's banned because of attacking posters and just the volume of commenting. It's one thing to leave a few comments. It's another to respond to every single post in a thread

  18. You may have just doomed us, he's sure to try and shut the cWo down.

  19. Don't be too cruel to Kev-o. I wasn't a fan of Jersey Girl (at all), but to be fair to him, at least it was something outside of his box. Sometimes it's refreshing to try your hand at something new. If you were a writer, would you want to write the same style of thing over and over? Think of it like when "Hollywood" Hogan had that match with Bret on Nitro, where Hogan actually did about two minutes worth of mat wrestling. Granted, it was nothing to write home about, but at least it wasn't the same old thing, ya know?

  20. I hated Jersey Girl as much as anybody, but I didn't think he sold out at all. If you were a writer, would you want to do the same thing over and over? I love Dogma & Clerks (and even Clerks 2), but writing stuff like that all the time has to get a little redundant. Give Kev-o props for at least trying something new out. Think of it like when "Hollywood" Hogan had that match with Bret on Nitro, and actually mat wrestled for all of about two minutes. Granted, it was nothing to write home about, but at least it was something different.

  21. I hate to break it to you but I have to be a little cruel to Kevin Smith, I wrote a whole paragraph criticizing him without using the words "fat" or "bald". He doesn't have too nice of things to say about his fans in interviews and he does deliberately asshole things like when he made all those un solicited comments about Paul Thomas Anderson and then felt sheepishly embarassed when PTA, the far superior writer and director was a class act and was nice to him anyway. David Gordon Green wasn't so nice and Kev got all huffy.

  22. Point conceeded. He's definitely not the most mature guy out there. By the way, sorry for the post stuttering.

  23. Seems like this generations 15-18 demographic have switched their allegiances from Kevin Smith (who's at least funny when you're that age) to that no talent peice of crap Richard Kelly, and his Donnie Darko nonsense. Gotta love the emo nation. America's youth are WONDERFUL.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You don't have to be emo to like "Donnie Darko". I love it and I'm 30 (and I only saw it for the first time last year). To each their own though. If we all liked the same stuff, life would be boring. :)
