Anyone catch how in the pre-show that Striker said that it's the first time a title is being defended in the YouTube preshow match? He must've forgot that the only one they've ever done was at Mania last month and it was a TITLE MATCH!!
Kane and Orton are getting a half hour? Bryan is surely going to use the shortest 2/3 falls match in wwe history. Chicago crowd was screaming yes during Orton's chair shots. Just wanted to point that out.
He may be over with the five year olds, but the crowd was chanting for Ziggler earlier and booing during his comeback. They popped for the finish though, so what do I know?
Next up, a replay of the rigged wheel spinning. Despite this, part of me was really rooting for Cage match since it would involve being above the ring some how.
Personally I could deal without ever seeing this character ever again.
Although I might have just had the greatest moment ever, my son looked at me and said "I think Funkus is gonna win cuz they keep hitting him outside the ring."
I was like...wow...my son just lost kayfabe and doesn't even know it, lol.
Now taking the lead for dumbest commentary of the night is......... MICHAEL COLE, who said Big Show is one of five guys to hold all the belts (WWE, World, US, IC, Tag) then said Owen Hart and Shawn Michaels were two others.
I'm not sure what's happened since he got the main event match with Punk? I mean, he's not getting the Ryder treatment even in losing, but they seriously need to find something for him to do. I would break him away from Vicki at this point.
Don't get me wrong, so do I. I just think his offense (or lack thereof) keeps him behind Punk, Bryan, etc. Relies too much on that dropkick (though it is the best in the biz). But I'd push him regardless. Him jobbing to a gimmick like Clay kills me. If they're not going to send him to Smackdown to feud with Sheamus, can they PLEASE just put the tag belts on him and Swagger for the next year?
I am worried about the effect this kind of stuff can have on the popular perception of Ziggler. Future stars don't do jobs like these. Even if they aren't winning, they are usually protected from these kind of squash-jobs. It does not bode well for the guy, even though he is one of the more talented and committed guys on the roster. Heck, he is probably the most talented guy there that didn't spend years honing his craft on the indy circuit. Poor guy.
I knew something was up when Cole kept screeching about how if Cody had kicked through the table when doing that Disaster Kick he would've actually lost...
I really hate tables matches. I know they are designed to protect main eventer heat by not taking a pinfall or tapping out, but does the 40-year-old Big Show really need protected at this point?
Poor Cody also had to get absolutely demolished here at the end for no reason.
Lets recap, Cody loses to Big Show at WM, then doesn't defend it for a month while Cody jobs to Khali. Then, Cody wins by fluke only to get destroyed by Show afterwards.
IC Title deader then it's been since maybe Chyna was champion.
I know being TNA means he never gets mentioned, but Angle held just about everything, even the hardcore title, plus World titles on both shows and the bastardized WCW title.
It's a thing on Wikipedia. I don't think it's an accomplishment like it was in 1998 when the only guys to whole the World, IC, and Tag belts were Austin, Michaels, Hart, Deisel and Pedro Morales.
Only Daniel Bryan could get the crowd from chanting YES! YES! YES! in support of him one sentence to NO! NO! NO! seconds later. That's how awesome this man is!
Won't work once the match starts though. But nice try.
Man, Booker is totally slagging Sheamus for sucking wind. Sheamus is supposed to be the face, Book. Now Cole is defending him saying it's just really hot in the building.
The match is so weird because Bryan is wrestling like an intelligent face, while Sheamus is just a brute. I am getting HBK vs Diesel WM XI vibes from it.
They screwed up with the ring announcing. They clearly said you can only win a pinfall by pin or submission. I figured dq's and count out counted anyways.
That was quite smart. Bryan knew he couldn't beat Sheamus once, let alone twice so he sacrificed a fall so he could do damage to Sheamus and steal the 2nd fall. #StillRealToMeDammit
4.5 stars. If Bryan had won I'd have been tempted to go fiver but it was still a great match. Sheamus recovers some smart-fan good will via effort, Bryan looks like a badass who for the most part kick Sheamus's ass with awesome offense. The match was basically a tie, since Bryan's DQ isn't far off from how Lord Tensai *won* his first couple of matches.
lol, they listed True Long Island Z as "original content". Forget the fact that Ryder came up with the whole thing by himself and since they started meddling, it sucks.
The WWE is never going to listen to the fans. Ever. They always feed us crap like "the fans decide" and all that BS....Daniel Bryan should be World Champion right now. It's like we've gone back in time to 1985 and the good wrestlers are there to make the muscleheads look good.
I caught the match (illegally, sue me) and Sheamus is not, and will not, ever be the answer. It'd be one thing if Bryan was being used to make a star with potential. Sheamus has no potential - he will never, ever, ever be a draw.
He's already got 100x the charisma Bill Goldberg had. I'm not sure why we had to do that on a PPV though, could've at least thrown someone with a name at him.
Yea. In one match he proved he is awesome in the mic, capable of garnering both intense heal heat and passionate face heat, able to tell a great story, carry anyone to an amazing match, and - I think I saw him doing this between the first and second falls - make one heck of a killer omelette.
Props to Sheamus for totally pulling his end and selling like a champ. He made Bryan look damn good. Perhaps even too good...
I disagree, Sheamus can definitely be a draw, especially overseas. He's big, he's strong, he's everything Batista was he just hasn't found the right character yet.
He really is the greatest. I see why some people are mad he didn't win but I'm not pissed since I went in completely KNOWING that there was no way Bryan was going over.
It could've been ANYONE. Although I guess the last time I saw two scrawny jobbers like that show up in a *big match* they turned out to be Matt and Jeff Hardy...so maybe I know zilch.
Well, I always attributed Goldberg's no nonsense intensity as his charisma. Kinda how UT didn't basically talk for years; but had a shit ton of charisma.
I'm a fan of Ryback though, I thought Nexus lost a lot when he went out.
That's fair. I am just confused by what they plan to do with Sheamus. This whole match was all about Bryan. Him losing at Mania, his ordeal with AJ, his embarrassment at "18 seconds". Heck, Sheamus' shirt was about Bryan, not Sheamus. I think Sheamus has potential, but this booking did him no favors. His character didn't develop, Bryan proved (by lasting 25 mins and taking Sheamus to the limit) that Mania was just a cheap shot, and now all people are going to care about is how Bryan will respond to the loss - not Sheamus vs ADR. Amazing match and effort by both; Kind of confusing on the booking end.
Sheamus has no charisma in the ring. That's what set Batista apart. Sheamus is just a guy. That's the problem. He's just a musclehead wrestling.
For a musclehead to really get over, he needs that in-ring charisma (think Goldberg, think Batista, think Nikita Koloff) that gets people going. Sheamus doesn't have that. And he's not going to have Daniel Bryan to carry him for 30 minutes every PPV.
Goldberg didn't even need that. He had no need to cut a promo. He just showed up, kicked ass and occasionally hissed out "YOU'RE NEXT!" That was good for a solid year of programming. The formula works.
I get what you're saying and I'm as huge a mark for Bryan as anyone but they have to keep trying stuff and frankly Bryan has already proven himself to be another Rocky Maivia, he doesn't HAVE to win to stay over.
Austin jobbed to Savio, Trips jobbed to Godwinn and Droese, Foley jobbed to everybody... I, too, am growing impatient for Ziggler to finally be moved up the card, but he's not in any danger of becoming part of the "NXT/Superstars" crew. He'll be fine.
I'd like to blame the stipulations in both cases. At Mania they thew in the "dq-rule is waived" stip so Punk and Jericho played to that the first five minutes of the match, which totally killed the crowd. They forgot about it and the match got much better as a result.
Here, a street fight doesn't play to either guy's strengths, they have plunder in the ring and while it's cool they've got their jeans on, and his sister in the crowd, that's what they're playing to, instead of their strengths, which is 21st century wrestling. This totally should have been a ladder match.
And I really feel like the shipped a crowd in from somewhere else,. But again, my legitimately paid for cable feed of the show is DYING, I'm losing the sound every couple of seconds, so I might not be able to judge the crowd correctly.
I keep thinking if Jericho were pouring the beer on Steve Austin, Austin would act like Barney from The Simpsons and turn around, open his mouth, drink and then drink the puddle from the mat.
Has anyone mentioned the breaking news, that Beth Phoneix is unable to compete and will be replaced in the WWE Divas' title match? Or was I the only one dumb enough to allow WWE to text them late-breaking updates?
I think it's a combination of that and the fact that neither of these guys are particularly "hardcore" types.
It's gotten better since about the halfway mark but I can't say as I care to see another match between these guys. (Which sucks, I fucking LOVE both of them)
It's a shame that the guy that Punk can REALLY make some magic with, Cena, has been stuck in a position away from the title for so long.
Yeah, but with the way the feud's been built up so far, a straight wrestling match just wouldn't fit. Punk and Jericho beating the hell out of each other because they hate each others' guts by now works a lot better, even if it doesn't give us a ****+ match.
I'd hope not. Lesnar killing Cena in under 10 might be the way to go. Putting him in a 20+ minute match might lead to flashbacks of Steiner v. HHH, with one guy gassed as hell by 10 mins in.
I thought it was better than their WM match and I had that 3*1/2, so I would say 4*. I actually thought they did fairly well with the limitations placed on hardcore matches these days.
I feel like I liked that match a lot more that everyone here did. Really good Attitude Era brawl, minus the blood (which obviously isn't their fault). Some nice spots, hot start and finish. Crowd kind of died there in the middle but they sucked them back in. I'd go ****.
Whew, good news is they're still just doing the Heat match.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think opens the show?
Orton-Kane, decent match thus far.
ReplyDeleteBoooooo. That was the joke, see, cuz this match is...Heat...like back when...
ReplyDeleteNevermind.
I liked the show open though...EXTREME RULES....Because Rules...Are Made....To Be Broken.....
Yes, but there are NO RULES? What the fuck does that mean?
ALUMINUM PIPES OF DOOM.
ReplyDeleteHa! Ryder will never get his heat back from Kane, he just punched him 15 times only to get no-sold.
ReplyDeleteBooker T is the worst
ReplyDeleteAnyone catch how in the pre-show that Striker said that it's the first time a title is being defended in the YouTube preshow match? He must've forgot that the only one they've ever done was at Mania last month and it was a TITLE MATCH!!
ReplyDeleteI've said this before but litereally EVERYTHING he says sounds like Tazz's commentary on the old Smackdown Vs Raw games.
ReplyDelete"Oh baby, Randy Orton is taking it to the next level!"
Blech.
There was a chair right there for him to beat Kane to death with, too.
ReplyDeleteThese guys are trying but I can't be bothered to care.
I don't think that we on YouTube. It was on there Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteYeah this thing just keeps going. Although Randy is now dry-humping the mat so maybe we're going home...
ReplyDeleteHah! This is why we need CM Punk on commentary.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain the physics of Randy using a chair for the RKO when he's the one landing on the chair? I love wrestling :-)
ReplyDeleteKane and Orton are getting a half hour? Bryan is surely going to use the shortest 2/3 falls match in wwe history. Chicago crowd was screaming yes during Orton's chair shots. Just wanted to point that out.
ReplyDeleteMatt Striker is the worst. Nothing is funnier than him screaming "CENA'S FREEEEEE!" after Survivor Series 2010.
ReplyDeleteAn okay brawl, but that finishing spot required a surgically implanted suspension of disbelief.
ReplyDeleteThis is where Schrodinger would say something about how you can't be sure there was ever a chair anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love how so many other guys on the roster now are leeching off of the "YES!" phenomenon. Get your own catchphrases!
ReplyDeleteIn case you were wondering who thinks Funkswoggle is cool...five year olds, they do.
ReplyDeleteMy living room sounds like Austin '98.
That's kind of what's cool about it though. Fans can chant it during any match and it doesn't completely destroy a guys heat the way "What?" used to.
ReplyDeleteZiggler is a more varied offense away from being my favorite worker.
ReplyDeleteHe can't do everything. I mean he can, just not all at once.
ReplyDeleteThey even showed the same angle replay where it was very clear Orton took 95% of the chair. Weird.
ReplyDeleteHe may be over with the five year olds, but the crowd was chanting for Ziggler earlier and booing during his comeback. They popped for the finish though, so what do I know?
ReplyDeleteGod that was the best. Good recall there.
ReplyDeleteI can see that, I loved the oompa loompa's as a kid. What is it about little people that fascinates the u-6 crowd?
ReplyDeleteI love Ziggs now, just wish they'd atually find something for him to do instead of jobbing on a weekly basis.
ReplyDeleteNext up, a replay of the rigged wheel spinning. Despite this, part of me was really rooting for Cage match since it would involve being above the ring some how.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying...
ReplyDeletePersonally I could deal without ever seeing this character ever again.
Although I might have just had the greatest moment ever, my son looked at me and said "I think Funkus is gonna win cuz they keep hitting him outside the ring."
I was like...wow...my son just lost kayfabe and doesn't even know it, lol.
*head down*
ReplyDeleteZiggler's time will come....Ziggler's time will come....Ziggler's time will come.
Yeah it's weird, I wonder if it's just a size thing? They're adults but they're the same size as them? No idea.
ReplyDeleteNow taking the lead for dumbest commentary of the night is......... MICHAEL COLE, who said Big Show is one of five guys to hold all the belts (WWE, World, US, IC, Tag) then said Owen Hart and Shawn Michaels were two others.
ReplyDeleteI almost sort of wish he'd get an injury so that he could do commentary AND avoid eating Brock's shit for the next 10 months.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what's happened since he got the main event match with Punk? I mean, he's not getting the Ryder treatment even in losing, but they seriously need to find something for him to do. I would break him away from Vicki at this point.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be perversely entertained by a Booker/JR hybrid.
ReplyDeleteDon't do it like dat BAH GAWD.
Oooooh mah good GAWD HOSS.
Shucky ducky quack quack FRUITY FRUITY.
ReplyDeleteMidgets are cool.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones is proof of that.
Poor guy.
ReplyDeleteIs King on tranquilizers tonight or something?
ReplyDeleteAm I actually wanting to hear MORE King?
AS GOD AS MY WITNESS HE HAS BEEN BROKEN IN QUACK!
ReplyDeleteUgh...that's all I got for that finish.
ReplyDeleteI knew something was up when Cole kept screeching about how if Cody had kicked through the table when doing that Disaster Kick he would've actually lost...
ReplyDeleteIC Title = BERRIED!
ReplyDeleteShow's kicking off his embarrassing Extreme Rules moments reel.
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT BUMP.
ReplyDeleteKing's commentary "The crowd is chanting one more time!"
Cole: "Yeah but he's defenseless!"
King: "Yeah but there's still a table that isn't broken!"
lolol
I really hate tables matches. I know they are designed to protect main eventer heat by not taking a pinfall or tapping out, but does the 40-year-old Big Show really need protected at this point?
ReplyDeletePoor Cody also had to get absolutely demolished here at the end for no reason.
Totally.
ReplyDeleteLets recap, Cody loses to Big Show at WM, then doesn't defend it for a month while Cody jobs to Khali. Then, Cody wins by fluke only to get destroyed by Show afterwards.
IC Title deader then it's been since maybe Chyna was champion.
Bring in Dusty Rhodes to talk about the PAH WINDAH and the MUTHASHIP!
ReplyDeleteDropkick law: if you meant to fall, it doesn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteIs that a thing now? I know they talk about Triple Crown and Grand Slam, but never heard of that combo before.
ReplyDeleteShit finish, but Cody Rhodes getting up on his own and raising the belt held wash off some of the stain of that absolutely terrible finish.
ReplyDeleteI know being TNA means he never gets mentioned, but Angle held just about everything, even the hardcore title, plus World titles on both shows and the bastardized WCW title.
ReplyDeleteAJ lookin HAWT!
ReplyDeleteIt's a thing on Wikipedia. I don't think it's an accomplishment like it was in 1998 when the only guys to whole the World, IC, and Tag belts were Austin, Michaels, Hart, Deisel and Pedro Morales.
ReplyDeleteOk guys, please don't fuck this up.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if Sheamus wins but seriously, at least let Bryan look half as good as he is.
Amen to that.
ReplyDeleteOnly Daniel Bryan could get the crowd from chanting YES! YES! YES! in support of him one sentence to NO! NO! NO! seconds later. That's how awesome this man is!
ReplyDeleteWon't work once the match starts though. But nice try.
HUGE heel heat for Sheamus. If he wasn't HHH's boy, he wouldn't be walking out with the belt.
ReplyDeleteWow - totally piped in chants during the introductions there. Complete opposite reaction during entrances.
ReplyDeleteYeah that sounded really weird.
ReplyDeleteTry to drown out the "YES!" and "Daniel Bryan" chants now.
ReplyDeleteTrying to explain to a kid why he should like Bryan:
ReplyDelete"Yeah Dad but he hates girls."
"Yes, but he's the BEST WRESTLER."
"YEAAAAH Dad...but HE HATES GIRLS."
It's not exactly working as well as I'd hoped. lol
Are they chanting "Daniel Bryan HBK"?
ReplyDeleteOr am I really, really drunk?
It could be worse - he could like Bryan BECAUSE he hates girls
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteYou can't. I was 8 when I first saw Flair at a house show in Ft. Lauderdale and there were people cheering for him and I didn't get it, he was evil.
ReplyDeleteOh man! I love these DB wrestling clinics! He is just awesome...
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Daniel Bryan / 18 Seconds
ReplyDeleteI think it was "Daniel Bryan!" "18 seconds" And I am not drunk at all.
ReplyDeleteTell him that Bryan is right in hating girls because girls have cooties!
ReplyDeleteYeah some of this stuff is tremendous.
ReplyDeleteThat armbar/pinning combination thing was fucking AWESOME.
Those kids you keep talking to aren't real, are they?
ReplyDeleteAaaaaah....that makes more sense.
ReplyDeleteMan, Booker is totally slagging Sheamus for sucking wind. Sheamus is supposed to be the face, Book. Now Cole is defending him saying it's just really hot in the building.
ReplyDeleteI want to raise a heel. =(
ReplyDeleteIt's important to have goals.
The match is so weird because Bryan is wrestling like an intelligent face, while Sheamus is just a brute. I am getting HBK vs Diesel WM XI vibes from it.
ReplyDeleteAt this point they're used to the monthly PPV where Dad turns into a half-drunk jabbering mark.
ReplyDelete(And wife is around doing wifey shit so it's not like I'm actually watching these bastards lol)
This has been tremendous.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to be fucking joking.
ReplyDeleteThis booking is breaking my brain. I am so confused.
ReplyDeleteI hate that - "he sacrificed a fall to get his own" BS. THAT MAKES NO SENSE.
ReplyDeleteThey screwed up with the ring announcing. They clearly said you can only win a pinfall by pin or submission. I figured dq's and count out counted anyways.
ReplyDeleteUgh I guess long term it makes sense but...
ReplyDeleteIsn't this PPV called Extreme Rules because EVERY MATCH is no DQ?
That was quite smart. Bryan knew he couldn't beat Sheamus once, let alone twice so he sacrificed a fall so he could do damage to Sheamus and steal the 2nd fall. #StillRealToMeDammit
ReplyDeleteDB is both the face and the heel! Poor Sheamus...He has become the proverbial broomstick.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess the point here is that...if this were a normal match Daniel Bryan would've lost because he kicks WAY TO MUCH FUCKING ASS.
ReplyDeletePassed out? He's just gassed.
ReplyDeleteShould have spent more time on cardio and less on bulking up in those gym sessions with HHH.
Broomsticks have better cardio.
ReplyDeleteThat Brogue kick was good continuity since Bryan started the second fall with the same charge.
ReplyDeleteThis match is ruling my world.
ReplyDeleteBut the "damage" was like three extra kicks before the ref pulled him off. A chair shot or something would have made more sense for that spot.
ReplyDeleteHell yea! They coulda stolen the show at Mania.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I must admit it's everything I wanted. No matter what happens Bryan looks strong, his wrestling looks second to none, etc.
ReplyDeleteSo far very happy with this. Just hoping for a good sensible finish.
Was Sheamus still selling there for the last fall?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sheamus on being carried to the best match of your career!
ReplyDeleteYES! YES! YES!
Fucking. Picture. Perfect. Sheamus' best match and MOTY so far.
ReplyDeleteFine with the ending, they were determined to keep the belt on Sheamus and Bryan looked like the wrestling machine that he is. What can you do.
ReplyDelete4.5 stars.
ReplyDeleteWonderful match. Would've liked to see Bryan win, but oh well.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great match with a garbage ending. I can't be the only one thinking "that's it???"
ReplyDeleteIf we had this a month ago, Wrestlemania 28 would've been in the top 5 Manias ever.
ReplyDeletelol, they listed True Long Island Z as "original content". Forget the fact that Ryder came up with the whole thing by himself and since they started meddling, it sucks.
ReplyDeleteAlready happy I spent the money to order. They finally did the right thing for Bryan and they still got to have the outcome they wanted anyway.
ReplyDeleteBryan just proved he can carry anyone to an incredible fucking match. That was ALL I WANTED.
Extreme Rules featuring squash match jobbers!
ReplyDeleteWhat is this I don't even
ReplyDeleteGoldberg chants!
ReplyDeleteI love you, Chicago.
lol at the 'Goooldberg!" chants. Love Chicago fans.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Goldberg chant there
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world is this??
ReplyDeleteThe WWE is never going to listen to the fans. Ever. They always feed us crap like "the fans decide" and all that BS....Daniel Bryan should be World Champion right now. It's like we've gone back in time to 1985 and the good wrestlers are there to make the muscleheads look good.

Was Ryback wearing an RVD singlet?!
ReplyDeleteso who's next?
ReplyDeleteHe's already got 100x the charisma Bill Goldberg had. I'm not sure why we had to do that on a PPV though, could've at least thrown someone with a name at him.
ReplyDeleteLike, what is the point of that? So Ryback threw around two guys who barely weigh as much as he does combined. Therefore what, exactly, he's a badass?
ReplyDeleteYea. In one match he proved he is awesome in the mic, capable of garnering both intense heal heat and passionate face heat, able to tell a great story, carry anyone to an amazing match, and - I think I saw him doing this between the first and second falls - make one heck of a killer omelette.
ReplyDeleteProps to Sheamus for totally pulling his end and selling like a champ. He made Bryan look damn good. Perhaps even too good...
I know, where was Curt Hawkins?
ReplyDeleteI disagree, Sheamus can definitely be a draw, especially overseas. He's big, he's strong, he's everything Batista was he just hasn't found the right character yet.
ReplyDeleteGoldberg had no charisma? What?
ReplyDeleteHe really is the greatest. I see why some people are mad he didn't win but I'm not pissed since I went in completely KNOWING that there was no way Bryan was going over.
ReplyDeleteEhh...sort of. I'd say he had *intensity*, an overwhelming intensity that made him huge.
ReplyDeleteBut when he got on the mic? Holy shit. This guy at least looks like he can talk AND he's intense.
It could've been ANYONE. Although I guess the last time I saw two scrawny jobbers like that show up in a *big match* they turned out to be Matt and Jeff Hardy...so maybe I know zilch.
ReplyDeleteWell, I always attributed Goldberg's no nonsense intensity as his charisma. Kinda how UT didn't basically talk for years; but had a shit ton of charisma.

Amazing match and effort by both; Kind of confusing on the booking end.
ReplyDeleteThis was literally the first time I've EVER seen him so I'm just relating my fist impressions.
ReplyDeleteI'm ALSO drunk.
Sheamus has no charisma in the ring. That's what set Batista apart. Sheamus is just a guy. That's the problem. He's just a musclehead wrestling.
ReplyDeleteFor a musclehead to really get over, he needs that in-ring charisma (think Goldberg, think Batista, think Nikita Koloff) that gets people going. Sheamus doesn't have that. And he's not going to have Daniel Bryan to carry him for 30 minutes every PPV.
I assume Bryan will come out on RAW/SD and claim that the ref/doctors should have stopped the match after the Yes Lock!
ReplyDeleteGoldberg didn't even need that. He had no need to cut a promo. He just showed up, kicked ass and occasionally hissed out "YOU'RE NEXT!" That was good for a solid year of programming. The formula works.
ReplyDeleteLove that they're both wearing jeans to put over the street fight stip.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, they've all got the jeans on and shit. I'm thinking this match is going to get EXTREME.
ReplyDeleteI thought arrogance was Rick Martel's cologne...
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of ECW just looking at Punk's outfit.
ReplyDeleteI get what you're saying and I'm as huge a mark for Bryan as anyone but they have to keep trying stuff and frankly Bryan has already proven himself to be another Rocky Maivia, he doesn't HAVE to win to stay over.
ReplyDeletePunk's sister is pretty hot. That's basically all I wanted to know. This feud can end now. :p
ReplyDeleteFinally dudes that wear street clothes in a street fight match. Taking it back to the old days..
ReplyDeleteAustin jobbed to Savio, Trips jobbed to Godwinn and Droese, Foley jobbed to everybody... I, too, am growing impatient for Ziggler to finally be moved up the card, but he's not in any danger of becoming part of the "NXT/Superstars" crew. He'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteDid Raven have a yeard sale?
ReplyDeleteThis match NEEDS blood. Hope one of them (Jericho, since he's leaving anyway?) has the stones to "accidentally" get cut.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to tattoo the logo for Acutane on her shoulder.
ReplyDeleteHa! Jericho pulling out a classic Flair spot using the ref for protection and then the EYE POKE OF DOOM!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking he'll either *accidentally* blade or take some sort of massive bump since he has a bunch of time off coming anyway.
ReplyDeletePersonally I'm hoping for blood. I want Punk to maim him to go over once and for all.
Jericho hid behind the ref...why didn't Punk throw the ref out of the way? It would have been legal.
ReplyDeleteWell, if Jerry Lawler could wrestle while holding a microphone...
ReplyDeleteOr that a DQ for legal kicks is stupid?
ReplyDeleteSecond scream from Lillian tonight. Busting out the acting chops.
ReplyDeletemy feed is turing to shit. Maybe I should have stolen it instead of paying for it.
ReplyDeleteIs the Street Fight doing it for anyone else? And wouldn't CM Punk's sister call him Phil?
Huh. It's so weird. On paper these guys should be able to do 4 stars in their sleep, yet this and WM I'm just...eh on it.
ReplyDeleteAt least so far.
It would be funny if Jericho busted out the "How YOU doin'?" at Punks sister while he kicked his ass at ringside..
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they talked about it beforehand to call him Punk, but she slipped and said Phil one time.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the chairs? Punk needs to do some Austin-style whacking.
ReplyDeleteCall your cable company and report it, they'll give your money back. Cable companies are known for being reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThey're building up...intensity is rising...
ReplyDeleteYes Booker, a Chicago Street Fight is all about rest holds in the center of the ring.
ReplyDeleteCole is killing Booker for his crappy commentary too. Love it.
If there is no "THEY BE CLUBBERING TONY!!" Im a sad panda.
ReplyDelete...and I like the "you wanna find out?" retort by Booker. When in doubt, use violence.
ReplyDelete"It's all about one thing, a big piece of gold dawg!"
ReplyDeleteUgh...Booker....
He reminds me of Chappelle in that rapper bit "Spaghetti! Spaghetti! Spaghetti!"
Just saying things...
I'd like to blame the stipulations in both cases. At Mania they thew in the "dq-rule is waived" stip so Punk and Jericho played to that the first five minutes of the match, which totally killed the crowd. They forgot about it and the match got much better as a result.
ReplyDeleteHere, a street fight doesn't play to either guy's strengths, they have plunder in the ring and while it's cool they've got their jeans on, and his sister in the crowd, that's what they're playing to, instead of their strengths, which is 21st century wrestling. This totally should have been a ladder match.
And I really feel like the shipped a crowd in from somewhere else,. But again, my legitimately paid for cable feed of the show is DYING, I'm losing the sound every couple of seconds, so I might not be able to judge the crowd correctly.
If this match doesn't end with Punk bringing in a Pepsi truck and spraying Jericho with Pepsi, this angle is completely worthless.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking if Jericho were pouring the beer on Steve Austin, Austin would act like Barney from The Simpsons and turn around, open his mouth, drink and then drink the puddle from the mat.
ReplyDeleteI would if I wasn't stealing cable..
ReplyDeleteSame stupid stip they did for Orton/HHH and it killed that match also.
ReplyDeleteNot the Walls!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's beaten WCW Cruiserweights before!!!!
Turning this into a street fight was a terrible idea. Straight wrestling and these two would be killing it. Instead...I"m bored. :-(
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Give these guys the 2/3 falls stip, or a submission stip, or even a cage stip...
ReplyDeleteInteresting spot with the fire extinguisher..
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm saying this, but that was a really good cover for Punk there by Michael Cole.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the match, it's been pretty good. I think the problem may be that after the phenomenal Bryan-Sheamus match, it's not looking as good.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone mentioned the breaking news, that Beth Phoneix is unable to compete and will be replaced in the WWE Divas' title match? Or was I the only one dumb enough to allow WWE to text them late-breaking updates?
ReplyDeleteWhy does he have to pin him in the ring if you can't get a rope break?! That makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteCrowd: "This is AWESOME!"
ReplyDeleteMe: "No it isn't."
I think it's a combination of that and the fact that neither of these guys are particularly "hardcore" types.
ReplyDeleteIt's gotten better since about the halfway mark but I can't say as I care to see another match between these guys.
ReplyDeleteI would chant: "This is GOOD!"
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha...yes. Yes you are the only one.
ReplyDelete10:10 and two matches plus intros to go? I'm guessing Cena/Lesnar isn't getting more than 15 minutes...
ReplyDeleteOkay, that was a hell of a finish.
ReplyDeleteShould have countered to a Walls...
ReplyDeleteI'd chant "This is CHICAGO!"
ReplyDeleteI'd hope not. Lesnar killing Cena in under 10 might be the way to go. Putting him in a 20+ minute match might lead to flashbacks of Steiner v. HHH, with one guy gassed as hell by 10 mins in.
ReplyDeletehaha...yes you were. Here comes Kharma!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought that match started off slow, but once it got going.....good lord, it got good.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteRemember when they were saying Miz was going to have a big post-WM storyline?
That was funny.
"This is...alright" just doesn't have a proper flow to it.
ReplyDeleteIf jvc113 hadn't ruined the surprised I'd find this backstage skit SHOCKING.
ReplyDeleteKharma! Kharma! Kharma!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was better than their WM match and I had that 3*1/2, so I would say 4*. I actually thought they did fairly well with the limitations placed on hardcore matches these days.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I liked that match a lot more that everyone here did. Really good Attitude Era brawl, minus the blood (which obviously isn't their fault). Some nice spots, hot start and finish. Crowd kind of died there in the middle but they sucked them back in. I'd go ****.
ReplyDeleteNot Kharma? Lita? Trish?
ReplyDelete...it'll be Kelly or Alicia won't it? :(
Well, I thought that was a good match. Especially everything after the table spot.
ReplyDeleteI think it's still Kharma.
ReplyDelete"This is...accept....able!"
ReplyDeleteFuck, the Bellas just get hotter every time I see them. Which one is Punk supposed to be jamming?
ReplyDeleteThe Bellas have the WORST theme music..
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who that is.
.....oh, okay, that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Daniel Bryan who was dating Brie.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I totally forgot about Layla.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was DBryan who was spearing one of them?
ReplyDeleteokay please resign the Bellas. They are certainly busting out some really slutty looking outfits on their way out.
ReplyDelete*screaming like Eric Clapton* LAYLA!!!
ReplyDeleteTwo minutes of this and Erik Watts will soon look like Arn Anderson
ReplyDelete
