Mysterio suspended

Wonder if Dave and Bryan will dedicate 30 minutes to every audio show for this one too.

Comments

  1. Heh. I'm not sure I can remember another example of a guy getting a Wellness test while he was out rehabbing an injury and was on the verge of coming back. It would be funny if they weren't even planning to use him within the next 60 days anyway, either because he wasn't medically cleared to return or because "creative had nothing for him".

  2. Rey vs. Bourne in a "Loser Smokes a Bowl" match.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Talent is tested four times per year, regardless.

But it's possible he didn't test positive for anything.  Refusing a test is treated as a failed test.  And showing up two or more hours late for a test can be considered a refusal.

    "We need you to pee."
"F-That, I'm on vacation with my family."
    "Failed test, ZING!."

  4. One away from being the leader of Mexican America in TNA!

    ReplyDelete
  5. There's really no point in Rey coming back till Sin Cara is healed up so they can form a tag team.  At least I hope that's the plan.

    ReplyDelete
  6. As much I think Rey should pack it in now, I still would be interested in a Rey vs. Daniel Bryan feud on Smackdown. DB's promos would be fantastic and the matches would be great, too (if Rey is healthy).

    ReplyDelete
  7. I assume, Scott, you are referring to the constant updates on Overeem that Dave Meltzer is so obsessed with?   I usually fast forward.

    ReplyDelete
  8.  Right, they should really be a tag team because... masks!

In that scenario the loser would be the winner.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I hope Rey Mysterio does not become the next Eddie Guerrero.

    ReplyDelete
  11.  Not with their third wellness violation on the line!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Evan Bourne? Or was it the other way around?

    ReplyDelete
  13.  They should tag team because Mistake-O will have no heat on his return and they need to sell masks to kids, so they can give him the Mysterio rub before Rey is too hurt to wrestle again.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would think Rey taking something that helps him heal up faster is a little different than Eddie getting all pilled up and drinking and driving.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Even better...Mexicans!!! With masks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rey should pull a Booker T and just retire now. That knee is a time bomb anyway and if they're gonna dick with him over Wellness after all the merch money he's made them over the years, fuck em. Let them try and get the botchy cokehead over.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's a cop out. If they really want to send a message, wait til he has been cleared and then start his 60 days.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Any word yet on what he tested positive for? My guess would be the 'roids, with him rehabbing an injury.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Who is the botchy cokehead?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, Bourne got injured just as he was getting ready to return from his 60-day Wellness suspension.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What will the comments/likes system look like tomorrow?!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Did he really get popped for coke on his wellness? I think Cara will end up alright in the long run. He seemed to be getting better before he got hurt. Hopefully he is spending his rehab learning english, because without he is going nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  23. eh, i'm pretty sure these guys know the consequences associated with missing a test and wouldn't do so because of a vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Weed's just a fine. Hurray!

    ReplyDelete
  25. What are the odds that he just didn't produce his prescription on time? Didn't he claim that last time?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Between Rey's nagging injuries, age, and likely healthy bank statement thanks to a decade of being one of the top merchandise movers, he probably really doesn't care all that much.

Wasn't he rumored to be eyeing retirement during the end of his last contract?

    ReplyDelete
  27. If you're saying that he was planning on retiring anyways, then I'm with you.  However, most (like 99%) of wrestlers never know when to quit and blowing off a drug test knowing the consequences to his wallet doesn't seem logical.  Although, I will say, logic doesn't always enter the mind of wrestlers.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rey is a guy I can totally see going to TNA if WWE releases him. They'll pay him a ton of money to revitalize the X-Division and then forget they employ Austin Aries.

    ReplyDelete
  29. While they're at it, why don't they flush money down the toilet, too?  When talents -- especially high level ones -- are suspended, it's incredibly inconvenient for WWE too.  Why would they willingly put themselves in a worse position than they're already in?  Isn't the fact that Mysterio is one failure away from getting fired message enough?

    ReplyDelete
  30. TNA has a ton of money?  Maybe if you measure it in pennies...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Probably doing roids to speak up the recovery.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If Mysterio does come back, it would be fitting in a lot of ways to do something with Punk. Say, Mysterio and Punk are forced to be a tag team and play up their rivalry and generally speaking, have them struggle to work together. Pit them against Ziggler and Swagger maybe. Maybe even have Punk dig up the mask he wore after he got his head shaved for added merch tie-in (since I am sure Punk's mask would sell well.

Maybe toss in Kane and Zack Ryder into the mix. Kane joins up with Swagger and Ziggler and Zack meanwhile is given the "Sin Cara" mask persona and play up the angle of Zack, tired of being seen as a loser, assuming the Sin Cara identity to avenge his suffering at Kane's hands.

Since Sin Cara has been a complete and total bust, they might as well shitcan the guy and give the mask gimmick to someone else on roster, especially someone like Ryder who could make it work.

  33. I meant a ton of money for TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's actually pretty convenient to suspend a wrestler when they're hurt because they're not counting on them anyway. And how are they putting themselves in a worse position? It's a great PR move and you just went almost a year without him, I'm pretty sure they can handle 4 or 5 months more. Or however much it takes to rehab+60 days.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If he's not in WWE, wouldn't Rey just return to Mexico, where he really would get a ton of money?

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's not letting me reply to your post below, but I'd assume TNA can offer more than Mexico. Spike would probably even kick in some cash. But I'm not hip to the Mexico scene, so who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He died from the steroids, not drunk driving.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks. But I don't remember calling the Dougie4577397223449 hotline and asking for clarification.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Probably should have seeing as you don't know what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The problem is, most of the people running TNA are still kinda hazy on who is a big star from WWE and who isn't, so they'd probably try to book him in the X division or a tag team or something rather than push him to the top, since Hogan & Bisch would just see him as the cruiserweight they used to shrug off in WCW. Also, they'd make him lose his mask again, just like they did with Abyss, because apparently they don't like selling merchandise.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Where in that post did I say he died from drinking and driving?

I was talking about all the other abuse that Guerrero did to himself that led to his heart exploding. My point to the OP was that since you never hear those stories about Mysterio, it's unlikely he'll end up like Eddie.

I'll try and dumb down my future comments for you.

  42. What is this I don't even

  43. People were complaining about problems with the new version of Disqus after it switched over, so I put it back to the original version again.  Let's not spaz out over it.

    ReplyDelete
  44.  KEEP THE ORIGINAL! SPAZZZZZZZZZZZZAZZAZZZ!!!1!!

    ReplyDelete
  45.  Perhaps he went to Texas to get a magic potion injection for a rib injury... or he has erectile dysfunction... or he mistakenly submitted a blood test instead of a urine test.  Sorry, been listening to too many WON radio shows on Overeem!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Look at Rey in 1997-99 and again in 2003-present.  Too much muscle on little body... so I would think that it goes beyond taking something to heal faster.  He needs to retire and save himself, even if he's not in dire enough shape to need to save his life... he needs to save his quality of life, as he'll be a cripple eventually due to all the knee operations.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If it's any consolation I have no smart-ass filter.  Can you relate?

    ReplyDelete
  48.  I'm not a huge MMA fan, but it really is fascinating... I think the UFC is going down the slippery slope with all the recent drug failures and injuries due to extreme weight gain/loss during training.  All it will take is one 60 Minutes expose piece (or someone dying due to the weight fluctuation) and UFC will be in jeopardy, since I can't imagine Fox is thrilled with the TV deal based on Ultimate Fighter and FX fight ratings. The ratings for the 5/5 show will tell a big story as to how that deal is going to go... because they can't afford to give away Velasquez/de los Santos-type fights on free TV to keep ratings on Fox high.

  49.  I would bet that they tested everyone in Miami during Mania weekend since the whole roster was there.

    ReplyDelete
  50.  It hasn't stopped them from paying Ric Flair $250,000 to cheer on Gunner.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm not saying he never took steroids to get bigger, that's obvious. It's also just as obvious why he would be taking them now.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Eventually there will be no choice, so prepare yourself now.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You'd make one hell of a doctor. His heart fail due to downers and booze, it failed due to steroid and hgh use. Nice try though. Knowledge is power.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Seriously one of the funniest wrestling-related jokes I've ever heard. Bravo.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Again, never said that steroids played no part in his death. Reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The original post was hoping that Rey didn't become the new eddy. You know, a guy that died from his heart being destroyed by peds. You then said there is no evidence that Rey would become that. Meanwhile, he has already been busted for peds. Just admit you were wrong. While there is no evidence that Rey takes pills and drinks and drives, there is evidence that he juices. Which is what killed eddy. I can't dumb this down any further so if you still don't get it, ask somebody in your family who graduated from high school to draw a diagram.

  57. Id rather hear 30 minutes of useless audio than read the F4W newsletter. Seriously, if those two didnt partner up the site, no more than five people would pay for Alvarez's old news and those shitty TV recaps by his friend Vince.
