It's a sad day when truths like this become evident. Maybe it was acceptable in 1999 for Steve Austin to hijack an ambulance, but it's time to start cracking down!
The writers of this storyline should be locked away for a long time as well. Although at this point killing Paul Bearer is just a misdemeanour given how many times it's happened now.
They should sign Randy Orton to a deal similar to Lesnar's. He's earned it.
ReplyDeleteAlso gotta love how when Edge was doing it, Kane was all freaking out and everything, but this around he's all "Eh, I'm over it."
ReplyDeleteThreadjack: Damn, Buff got jacked up.
ReplyDeleteFrom 411: "Wrestling Observer reports that Buff Bagwell's accident happened last night. His jeep flipped over a reported eight or nine times in the accident, and he has a broken neck as well as his jaw wired shut for at least the next six months."
Can't wait for him to turn heel when he is recovered.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair. That was unmasked Kane who was human. And could experience things like love and compassion. This is evil-incarnate masked Kane. Who's only loves are pain and suffering.
ReplyDeleteBesides if your Dad kept gettin' murdered yet somehow recovering, you'd probably wouldn't give a damn neither.
Hmm, I didn't get e-mail notification about this reply. It happened in another thread, too. I wonder if something's up with the new layout or whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhat's even more disturbing is the author's lookism.
ReplyDelete"In March 1964, a beautiful young woman was horrifically slain in the Kew Gardens section of Queens, New York."
Why bring her looks into the discussion of the murder? It's not like the writer was discussing a possible motive of the perpetrator where beauty might play a part, it's not like the author was writing about the life of Kitty, in which her lesbianism should probably have been brought up, they just mentioned the fact that she was beautiful in an attempt to make the whole situation more tragic. And while it may not be the author's intention, but if being attractive makes a crime more tragic, the unstated conclusion of such a statement is that being ugly makes you less deserving of sympathy as a victim.
I understand it's a joke article and the writer didn't mean it, but prejudice runs deep.
If you mean he would only wrestle 8 times a year? Yeah, I'd be down with that.
ReplyDeleteThat's the joke. Although from the down votes I guess not everyone is getting it.
ReplyDeleteDamn the Internet. Damn it to hell.
ReplyDeleteYou might as well just give this guy a spot on here, he's going to keep sending you links to all his articles. Plus it will help him fulfill his lifelong dream of hijacking every wrestling page he likes. Some of them have been good but this one and a lot of others are way too wordy.
ReplyDeleteStupid autocorrect. I'd meant to put "bootylicious" in the original article. Damn it all....
ReplyDeleteFuckin' hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, the bias towards attractive people is real, and it's usually not positive either. It is a problem, but if you want to laugh it off, go ahead, I won't stop you, I'd just hope that this place would be a little bit more open to discuss bigotry in all it's forms.
I think I've left enough space on the wall I've been ramming my head against trying to get people to stop saying "retard" on here for you to beat your head against it over lookism, come on over.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are the ones who start describing every female heel character with "slutty", even if it has nothing to do with that character. Like if AJ goes heel, she'll obviously be a slutty heel. Because all bad women are sluts, you see! And all sluts are bad women, for that matter.
The soapbox corner! YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteThe madonna/whore complex is pretty damn interesting. Of course WWE is usually the one to subvert it by making the heels stuck-up and prudish and making the faces "easy". Is Vince McMahon a pro-sex feminist?
On a forum I frequent somebody posted pictures of Sara Del Rey, and while people were rating her looks (as people on the interent do) some people said something along the lines of "I don't think she's hot because she's a good wrestler" there's this weird attitude that people have where hot people can't be good at their jobs, and people who are good at their jobs can't be hot. This is even true with male wrestlers, people think that if you don't have the "look" you must be better than somebody who does have the "look".
Well in a lot of cases, Vince McMahon's idea of the "look" is one with so much muscle mass that it places a limit on mobility/agility/flexibility.
ReplyDeleteNot saying that isn't true, Bryan's talked about it multiple times, but I think it's a stereotype, I mean plenty of people have shitty looks and suck as workers.
