Tag Teams.

Well we're going to have to fill up three hours somehow. Who from the current roster, would you like to see built into a Tag Team. Dolph and Swagger already are primed for it, though I think it'd be more fun to put Zack Ryder into Swagger's role, as Dolph and Zack seem to get along fairly well. Cody could desperately use some time off the singles roster. Perhaps he and the Miz? I'd be interested to hear everyone else's thoughts.

OK, that's a fun game.

Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre was actually a perfectly good team, as was Cody & Dibiase, and I don't really know why they broke either one up so abruptly.  I think Miz & Zack Ryder would be a perfect odd couple team.  Zack would also work well as the Ricky Morton portion of a David & Goliath team, like if you had him get beat up for 10 minutes and make the hot tag to Mason Ryan, that might work.  Really, you can mix and match almost anyone in that Miz/Ryder/Swagger/Ziggler/McIntyre/Cody/Kofi midcard morass and come up with a darn good tag team.  I really don't see why they DON'T, in fact.  You can put together 5 or 6 good combinations and have something for the guys to do for MONTHS.  Do a tag team King of the Ring tournament!  People LOVE tournaments!  And you can burn up valuable airtime!

  1. Rename RAW to BATTLEBOWL, and do that every week!

  2. Aside from the list Scott named, you still have Evan Bourne, Alex Riley, Ezequiel Jackson, Jinder Mahal, Tatsu, Slater, Gabriel...man, there are LOTS of dudes that would benefit greatly from being on a team rather than what they're doing now.

WWE should build 10 teams and keep them together for 1 year, commit to it.  Any of them start breaking out?  Move them to singles competition and replace them with another FCW guy.

Personally, I'd like to see Zigs competing in singles.  You could rotate the guys that break out into and IC/US feud (please combine these, get rid of the US title).

This would be really fun to watch, but yeah, none of this is going to happen unfortunately.

  3. Jey Uso and great khali? Big dick Johnson and primo?

  4. Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan.

  5. ADR and Daniel Bryan, call them the Arm Busters.

  6. I really don't get why Vince dislikes tag teams- it's basically pushing two guys for the price of one, you can market the toys very well (I used to LOVE looking at the old Tag Team duo-sets of toys in the '80s), and they fit a unique section of the card. Given how strong the tag team division has been in the past (particularly the Bulldogs through Legion of Doom era, or the E&C/Hardyz/Dudleyz era), I wonder why they just gave up on it- think of all the stars to come from tag teams (Shawn, Bret, Edge, Jeff Hardy).

  7.  What about the Yes Brothers.

  8. Even the lame teams of the...Ermm. TLC era? Do we have a better name for the
E&C/Hardyz/Dudleyz era? The lame teams were still entertaining. the APA and Too Cool and New Age Outlaws end run.

  9. Because such teaming worked so well for Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Super Crazy!

  10. "I really don't get why Vince dislikes tag teams- it's basically pushing two guys for the price of one..."

I've actually heard he looks at it the other way: why pay 4 guys for a match when you can just pay 2. Seriously. Of course, Bret Hart, Edge, and Shawn Michaels (to name 3) don't get nearly as over if they weren't initially a part of tag teams.

  11. Yeah. The A teams were great, the B teams were solid and over, and even the C teams (T&A, Boss & Bull, Head Cheese) had some moments, and were at least doing _something._

  12. Gabriel/Kidd is so obvious its painful.

  13. They should've teamed Hacksaw with Lita. Then the "HOO!" chants would be hilarious.

  14. Honestly, I just want them to give the tag teams actual team names again. I miss being able to call tag teams things like The Hart Foundation, The Killer Bees, etc. Now it's the team of Guy #1 and Guy #2.

  15. They could do a mini-SmackDown 6 with those guys....just have them wrestle themselves in great matches for 6 months without getting caught up in jobbing to Cena/Lesnar/Orton/etc.

  16. That's the thing with teams: a guy can spend years working in a team, becoming a decent wrestler and establishing himself with the crowd, without ever getting stale or getting stuck in one spot on the card, because they aren't a part of the everyday title rat race and don't have to have long periods where they job a lot. I love tag team wrestling and I really really hate this attitude that it doesn't matter anymore.

    For fantasy teams:

Justin Gabriel & Seth Rollins: high flying blowjob tag team, give them Kaitlin or even Kelly Kelly as a manager and you have new Hardyz/Lita.

Antonio Cesaro & Drew McIntyre: Since they seem to be going a different direction with Kassius Ohno and we won't see a KOW reunion, a team of Eurotrash roughnecks would be interesting, a change from the typical hoity toity cocky Euro heels.

Heath Slater with Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks: they all appeared together at Mania anyway, they'd make a good three man Freebirds-ish rocker scuzz team.

Wade Barrett & Mason Ryan: big man heel team, not necessarily monster heels but like a Skyscrapers vibe.

  17. Even if you don't wanna do permanent teams, it's a good idea for a Battlebowl-esque tournament. Take 8 guys, random draw (wink wink) teams, winning team has a singles match, winner of that gets a title shot/#30 in the Rumble/some sort of reward.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You mean Kofi and R-Truth weren't put together by random drawing?

    ReplyDelete
  19. and if they decide give a team a name it's usually something stupid.

    "WWE.com currently
has a poll up to "Name The Tag Team" of R-Truth and Kofi Kingston. The
options include Air Truth, Ka-Boom, R-Boom, Truth in Paradise, and Air
    Jimmy."

    ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. allegedly because they don't "draw".

    ReplyDelete
  21. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel seem like a natural fit and I really believe that if this was 1987, those two would already have matching tights, a cool name and some amazing double-team highflying moves.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They could rip off the latest video game and have all the UK guys in one faction. Especially if Sheamus turns heel.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've always thought Battlebowl was a cool idea with crappy execution. So maybe, if they did it for 52 weeks, we'd have a monkeys on typewriters situation where they'd eventually create the Shaksepeare of  random draw tag team tournaments ending in battle royals. And it would still be better than a year of guest hosts,

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Especially"? Sheamus isn't even from the UK!
