What the FUCK

I'm away from my computer for 8 hours and here's what happened:
Raw is going to 3 hours now
Raw will be more interactive (so somehow it will be more Twitter friendly AWESOME)
Brooke Hogan signed with TNA (AWESOME, just what TNA needed)
TNA Botchpact will be live all summer.
WHAT THE FUCK!!! I WAS GONE FOR 8 HOURS!!!!
Rob

I know how you feel.  I was at work and I hate trying to do blog updates from my phone, so thankfully Tommy Hall was all over this one.  Personally, I feel like Impact going live is a good move, although putting Brooke on TV is retarded, so it somewhat tempers that good news.  RAW adding a third hour is ridiculous, and it's just a move to artificially prop up TV rights fees and provide excuses for ratings at next year's investor's conference.  Think about this:  They now have 3 hours of RAW, 2 hours of Smackdown, 3 hours of PPV a month, an hour of Superstars, an hour of NXT...and they want to add a NETWORK?!?  It's a chore to get through Smackdown now that they've basically committed to it being the Dudes Squashing Jobbers and Cody Rhodes Losing For Two Hours show, and now I have to sit through THREE HOURS of RAW every week...PLUS OVERRUN?!?   And you just know we're gonna get a "Did You Know..." thing out of this trumpeting the ratings success every week.  How are casual fans ever supposed to get invested in the product if you have to make a three hour commitment to the product in order to follow things every week?  Yeah, if the product was hot like Nitro in 98, the fans would come along with the show, but this is the furthest thing from a hot product right now.

Not a good time to be a fan on the fence, that's for sure.

  1. It's called DVR..it's the only way I watch.  I record it get up the next morning.  Look at your review Scott and see if there is any non Brock non Punk related stuff worth watching.  If not FF to Brock or Punk...perhaps Jericho if I'm feeling it.

  2. Hey, quit your bitchin' Rob.  When Scott leaves his computer for that long, people die.

  3. I'm just gonna start showing up an hour late and drunk for the live threads like the Outsiders did for those 3 hour Nitros.

  4. I can barely get through a 2 hr RAW with how boring and bland I find it to be. I don't think 3 hrs will help. I kind of think they should have LESS TV shows.

  5. Maybe it's just to get more heat on Johnny's character - have going 3 hours be his idea, then after about an hour into the 3rd off of week everyone will be like "I can't handle 3 hours of this shit every week, fuck you Johnny Ace!" Instant heel heat.

  6. TNA Botchpact? OH TAG!

Glad to see MRoberts has made his return.

  7. Maybe Botchtista or Black Lesnar will show up during the first live show.

  8. I think the introduction of the three-hour Raw might mark as good a point as any to start watching Raw and Smackdown more selectively. There are certain things I don't want to miss, like anything Bryan/Punk/Jericho related, but outside of angles involving those guys I typically just half-pay attention to the commentary while I'm doing other things anyway. These days there's no reason to hang around for a three-hour chunk every week when so little is happening. Like someone else mentioned, I can always read the rants and YouTube the chunks I want to see (depending on how long Scott will put up with serving that particular greater good this time).

  9. ha ha, yeah, I love Scott and he usually comes up with some great puns; but Botchpact is not one of them.

  10. I'm still trying to figure out how and why Brooke Hogan got appointed the head of the TNA women's division.  I mean, I know it's nepotism, but is Dixie Carter's head so far up Hogan's ass that she's blind to it?

  11. You forgot about WWE signing Flair's daughter.

  12. The Brooke thing is just bad.  I mean, can you picture Mickie James and Tara, two of the most successful female wrestlers in American history, going to Brooke to ask about character development or how to lay out a match?

  13. Time to subscribe to the right torrent feeds.

  14. OK, so I wrote that message to Scott when I was drunk...

One more piece of news that I glossed over: it looks like Regal and JR will be the commentary team for FCW/NXT now.  That has some pretty awesome potential

  15. This is why I should never check wrestling sites when I've been drinking

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't think Scott came up with that.

  17. You're right...I lumped the e-mailer with Scott.

    Sorry.

  18. I think Dixie said that Brooke has a great mind for the business.  Maybe she does when you compare her to Dixie!

  19. "They now have 3 hours of RAW, 2 hours of Smackdown, 3 hours of PPV a month, an hour of Superstars, an hour of NXT."
Reading Eric Bischoff's book, he talked about the stress of having to produce the 3 hour Nitro, 2 hour Thunder and then the monthly ppv that eventually made him go crazy    and was more than happy to be relieved of his job from WCW in 1999.

  20. If the WWE's thought process
was "hey maybe this means we have time for decent length matches" this
might be a good idea, unfortunately there thought process will probably
be "Hey this means the big show firing segment can be TWICE as long"

  21. If Nick Hogan signs with TNA I would advise Steve Austin to stay away given his history.

  22. Not only that Fit Finaly is out there for the taking.  When he was allowed to really ramp up the Diva's division, it was actually watchable in the ring.

  23.  Thank God for torrents and usenet and even the cursed f.i.l.e.s.t.u.b.e.  It's the only way I can get through this shit anymore. I finished Smackdown this morning in about 20 mins, Impact in about 40 mins (good matches on Impact this week). 3 hours of RAW is gonna be torture to watch, be a lot of fast forwarding happening.

  24.  I hope they sign Nick, then we can get that awesome main event of Nick Hogan v. Garrett Bischoff, or a tag match with the old men. Even better Nick & Eric v. Garrett & Hulk, picture the possibilities. There is years worth of storylines there! Bring in one of Flair's kids (David or the other one) and this could go for a decade! It'll be the Biggest Night in our Sport!!!!! I guess I better not give Dixie any ideas.

  25. I think what bothers me is that she doesn't like wrestling. I mean, at least the other wrestlers kids that were involved liked to sport.

  26. It will give more time for HHH to expand on why he is the game. I'm almost expecting the first hour to be like Larry King and it will be straight interviews.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You forgot Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Per the spoilers, Regal only commentated the first episode.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why do they even do the overrun anymore? Is it just to bump up the hour following Raw or something?

I watched Impact last night. It wasn't nearly as horrible as I was expecting as soon as Hogan was done talking. Of course I left to the bar during the Knockouts match so maybe the main event dragged the rest of the show down...

I request Impact threads henceforth so the blog may watch me have nervous breakdown...LIVE~!

  30. Yeah but her attempt at becoming a singer was a big fail (in fact the purpose of Hogan Knows Best was to promote Brooke's singing career but instead that show started the process which ended up destroying that family), so with almost no real career prospects daddy has to give her a job in the wrestling business. At least with Nick showing no aptitude for wrestling (according to Scott Steiner) we will be spared Nick's attempts at being a wrestler, at least for now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Eric Bischoff's son couldn't even do that, and you somehow expect Hogan's kid to?

    ReplyDelete
  32. WCW is back in business!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I get that WWE wants to get more of their demographic watching( I mean how many parents let their kids watch TV past 10:30 on a school night, but this is more pointless since Summer is around the corner) but instead of adding an hour, why not move the show back to 8-10?????

Nick Hogan should be a manager. He would have so much heat, just standing there like the goof he is.
