For those so inclined, since I've heard requests come up lately. Switch between Spike and ESPN2 and you'll get X Division vs. X Games, so it's a win either way.
So in the first hour of Impact we got three matches and a stand-off between the World Champion and the X-Division Champion.
In the first hour of Raw we got a Triple Threat, a video package of John Cena, a recap of the thrilling Triple H-Paul Heyman/Brock Lesnar feud and a Santino match.
If only this aries-Roode match could draw. I just don't see many people buying it. Its not a knock I used to buy shows in 02-03 to see Low Ki-Styles but I don't have directv in my new house.
Is it true that Joe-Angle Lockdown match did 50,000 buys or is that just a rumor?
I thoroughly enjoyed that Rashad Cameron vs Mason Andrews match. Props to them, especially considering they were complete unknowns. Now THAT is what Gut Check should be. Two rookies having a good competitive match and next week, the judges vote for who gets a contract.
I liked the finish because it tied up the loose end of why Kazarian was with Daniels all along, and Styles took the bait. Also, it at least gives a better payoff to the addict storyline than what we were given last week.
Plus, Daniels saying "world tag team champions of the world...(looks around)... I meant to say it like that!" should restore any lost points!!
The show got back on track after last week's episode... well done! The crowd also seems to be into Taeler so hopefully they can come up with something to take advantage of that and not give her the Alex Silva treatment (who hasn't been seen in two months now, visa issues aside).
... and he DID mean to say that because he said the same line after winning the tag titles and added something like... "That's right, we're worth two worlds!"
Where has THIS Daniels been for the last 10 years?
he has always been there. they never give him mic time. chris daniels can talk his ass off. imo he is one of the better talkers they have.
it just sucks that he is so much older than the other guys. he was already ten years in when tna first started. so he has to be pushin 40 soon. also hurts that he is small so thats two strikes.
Plus, Daniels saying "world tag team champions of the world...(looks around)... I meant to say it like that!" should restore any lost points!!
That's a holdover from the PPV, when he said the line and followed it with "And no, that's not redundant, it's just we have enough awesome to fill two worlds."
That was a good interaction between Roode/Aries. Save for the AJ/Dixie BS, this has been pretty good.
ReplyDeleteFully agree. I couldn't watch more than 10-15 minutes of RAW in small chunks... this show is on pace to MAYBE have 10-15 unwatchable minutes.
ReplyDeleteBubba's in great shape but goddamn does he ever have the worst haircut in wrestling.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've watched of TNA in a long while.
If Chin reads this I want him to know that this is why we don't do Impact live threads.

Winner: Impact
Okay Impact... you had a very good first hour... but you've had more unwatchable minutes in the first quarter of hour 2 than all of hour 1. Fix this.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Vince's current five-year old boy cut is pretty hard to beat!

DAMNIT IMPACT! Le Sigh. It's still a B-/C+... but that finish loses about a full letter grade from the show.

ReplyDeleteYay Jigsaw!
ReplyDeleteNumber i always heard was 60,000, don't know if either is correct though
ReplyDeleteImpact a perfect show: HELL NO
ReplyDeletebetter than raw every time i tuned in these last 4 weeks: HELL YES
I tend to watch on youtube the next day, which I'm assuming a fair number of people do.
ReplyDeletei bought so its x+1.
