Randy Savage vs. Bad News Brown, harlem Streefight, Youtube

I came across this when you showed the Dibiase/Duggan Tuxedo Match.  Short match, but great brawl all around.  I can't find a date, but there is a table break.  Btw, ever consider doing a short YouTube review column?  Where you review just random matches you wanted to watch that you probably won't find on any dvd sets anytime soon

Princess pretty much has the YouTube review thing covered.  And yeah, this is a notable "lost classic" that I reviewed before on a Coliseum release.  Savage was just killing it at the end of his first reign.

  1. I've seen the match, recorded off of  Classics  On Demand last year and I wasn't really too keen on the match. Then again I don't remember ANY Bad News match in WWF being that good. The table spot is somewhat revolutionary, but I'm pretty sure Hogan did one with Harley Race at the Boston Garden a year before that!

  2. I'm surprised you didn't go to see this when they had the Harlem Street Fight in Edmonton just before WMV.  It was seriously awesome.

  3. I didn't move to Edmonton until 1990, and I don't remember them running that match in Vancouver.  Bummer.

  4. I wish heel Savage got to run with the belt just a wee bit longer.

  6. Anyone else remember when Brown accused Ms Elizabeth of doing favors for Jack Tunny so Savage wouldn't have to face him?

  7. That sounds like kind of a shitty card outside of the main event, actually. But if they were running a month before WM I wouldn't have been able to go anyway because WM was showing there closed circuit and I could generally only go to a few shows a year at that point.

  8. This is on Best of the WWF vol 19 for those who need to know that sort of thing (like me).

  9. Lost classic?  That match sucked!  A few chokes and kicks, a couple weapons, no blood, lots of stalling, and a cop-out, screwjob finish.

Was Bad News supposed to be the face?  He got completely screwed over there!

  10. Bad News Brown was one of the most overrated ever.

  11. It's fear.  Even years after his death, I'm still a little bit afraid that he'll kick my ass from the grave if I offend him.

  12. One of the few guys who had a finisher that no one kicked out of. (A ref bump would always "save" Savage or Hogan from being pinned) While I loved it during the height of the attitude era, I wish wwe would put the "kick out of multiple finishers" genie back into the bottle for a while.

  13. Savage would have been heel after the Main Event turn, so yeah, Bad News would have been the babyface in one of those weird deals.

  14. It is sort of sad how few Savage title defenses are available from his reign with good workers -- I know he worked a bunch of good matches with Dibiase, but then he spends a lot of time with Andre and Akeem.

  15. Actually as far as I remember when they came to Edmonton, it was played as *almost* a heel-heel, but with Savage just being a more ruthless face.

  16. That reminds me, what other finishers were there that no one kicked out of (or no one even took)?

I know Hogan ducked the 'ghetto blaster' on SNME that time, and I don't think Hogan ever took a DDT? Did Hogan ever take and then kick out of the piledriver?

  17. It was a crazy time because Savage was SO hated that he was getting booed while defending against these gigantic heels.

  18. im sure theres a hogan no sell of the piledriver somewhere on the tube.
