What's the tally on Scott's whole 'vacation death'?

Also, I have to imagine he went around the World in 80 days in a hot air balloon before the whole Benoit ordeal.

  6. Nice explana-brag.

For real though, the Freebirds pretty much inherited the Von Erich curse at this point. I can't be the only morbid motherfucker who'd like to book Kevin Von Erich vs. Michael Hayes in a Last Man Standing match, though.

  7. Best concert I've ever seen. He played Day In The Life! 37 songs total and PYRO for Live and Let Die. The man is a god.

  8. Buddy looked to be in really rough shape in the World Class doc that WWE sanctioned a few years ago.

  9. My exposure to Buddy Rogers was limited to his later work in Crockett's promotion in the late '80s, at which point the only real image I had of the guy was of an older curly haired guy running with Michael Hayes. It was only after getting into World Class that I could appreciate what he brought to the table.

  10. The sad part is, Vince would KILL to have a feud as hot as Freebirds/ Von Erichs, and he has Michael Hayes on the payroll, yet nobody there can grasp the concept.

    R.I.P. Buddy.

  11. Nah, the sad part is that Vince THINKS he has a feud as hot as Freebirds/Von Erichs in stuff like Sheamus/Show, and can't understand why the ratings aren't reflecting his belief.

  12. I was at the Christmas Star Wars when the Von Erich-Freebird feud started. The Freebirds were always some of my favorites. RIP Buddy Jack.

  13. DDP was a Freebird???

  14. At least Michael Hayes and Kevin von Erich are still around.

How the hell did Kevin turn out relatively normal?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think he's actually credited his wife with a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sorry, but the concept is that the extremely popular local boy heroes get screwed over by people they thought were their friends and who waltzed into the area thinking they were just as hot. No way to replicate or manufacture that.

  17. Manager/Associate

And don't forget Little Richard Marley (Rocky King) and Iceman King Parsons.

Also RIP their "road manager" Oliver Humperdink

  18. another tally for the dead column in the re-posts... :(

  19. King Parsons will NEVER die~! EVER~!

  20. Damn...Freebirds were the nWo of their time.

  21. his feet kept him grounded.

  22. Only if both guys are at least somewhere close to ring shape. (And would it be wrong for the finish to be Lacey Von Erich to runin, hit Kevin with a bottle of JD to cost him the win, then start making out with PS?)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Before my time and don't remember him, still, my condolences to his family.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I can't remember, but I know Benoit died while he was away from home. I think. All I remember is that the tally was pretty high even a couple years ago, to the point where Scott would ask that wrestlers kindly not die while he was away "this time" or something.

  25. Most of Buddy's work is outside Scott's reviews. There's a few, but not much.

  26. Wrong would be using a prosthetic foot as the foreign object.

  27. Up vote because I wish I had been there.
