Jimmy Kimmel at Wrestlemania 12

So I was watching WrestleMania 12 recently and during the video package before the Goldust/Piper brawl I could swear the person doing the voice-over was Jimmy Kimmel. I know he was a radio DJ around that time, so it's not impossible that he could have done some side work doing voice-overs. Have you ever heard anything about this?

No, and it seems dubious because they have in-house guys for everything  I think it's more likely to be Todd Pettingill.  Who knows, maybe Jimmy was doing voiceover work for extra cash, though.

    Savio Vega/Austin is the best match with the deadest crowd I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen such an inverse relationship b/t match quality and crowd reaction.

    WWE doesn't only use in- house talent for voice work. They've used Keith David on several occasions. I can tell you from experience radio jocks are always looking for extra work so it could be Kimmel, but I've never heard the clip so who knows...

    Who's the Don LaFontaine pastiche dude who does WWE voice-overs?

    Also gotta love perennial ATHF poor man's LaFontaine Ned Hastings.

    Whatever happened to not-James Earl Jones from TNA? Even though I've watched every PPV's for a few years now, I honestly am blanking as to whether he's doing the intro work.

    I don't think that is nearly as bad. There are at least some credible spots in the match (Andre using his size to his advantage, Hogan's chops in the corner, the "stunned" finish, the punches look fine). They work way loose in the Andre/Studd match at WM 1 and move at an even slower pace.

    I take it back though, Lelani Kai vs Wendy Richter has more heat than Studd/Andre and is a slightly worse match, with blown spots galore.

    Wasn't the crowd somewhat hostile for that match though? Maybe it was just the ending and they were otherwise quiet? That's one I definitely need to rewatch.

    Todd Pettingill did the original voice-over on the WM12 telecast. When it was re-released on DVD, Michael Cole re-did the voice over, but I think when they dubbed him over (and probably over some redone music, too), I think his voice sounds deeper -- and closer to Kimmell's.


    Was the original email watching the DVD of WMXII or a VHS or something else?


    A separate question: did Michael Chiklis from The Shield to the original voice-overs for the intro to WrestleMania 20? Cause it sounds like him. A LOT.

    Totally agree. That was one of the worst crowds in WM history. If that Iron Man match was in a place like Chicago or New York, it would be an all-time classic. But the crowd is so lifeless, the match seems boring (which it is NOT).

    Andre/Hulk is the exception to the rule in that the quality of the match didn't matter one single bit. You would almost have to exempt it from that discussion.

    No, I'm not. George and I are different people. He was the voice of Space Ghost in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, was "Dad" on The Brak Show, and often plays himself in Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I have played myself on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, among other things, and played "Carter Hawkins" on Frisky Dingo. I'm also an editor-producer on Aqua Teen.
