Well what a difference a week makes?
Undertaker returns for house shows this past weekend and Jack Swagger gets popped for pot.
The former has me intrigued. Was this a test run to see if his body could handle a physical match? Was all the talk about him being broken down just talk? How did the crowd respond (I am assuming they went ape shit)? If he is involved at Wrestlemania do they go ahead with the Punk match or go in a different direction (Mark Henry maybe? I know they have faced before but it seems like both guys would be a better fit this time around.)
The latter has me intrigued too. This is a spot where the WWE could easily slam the door on Swagger but the outside heat the Swagger/Coulter package has received might force them to see it through. Either way I don't think they can put the title on him because he's just not a reliable guy. Of course it's just as easy to dump the pothead and go with Mark Henry in the same role. Mark Henry is American...hell he's an Olympian so it actually works out well for him. Plus he's already beating up Sin Cara and he's Mexican so it almost would make sense for Del Rio to come to the save of his fellow countryman.
Also this Shield thing has me thinking...how much is a well-worked six-man tag match? If the right guys involved you never have to worry about a bad worker being stuck in the ring too long. Give a six-man tag with good workers 12-14 minutes and they deliver. Case in point when the "Smackdown Six" all appeared in the same match good things happened. Or when the Radicalz first arrived you could pair them with three capable faces and it was an easy ***1/2+ match. So rock on Shield. More six-man tags the better.
Anyway enjoy the show and come out swinging but keep it clean.

The booking for the shield so far has been amazingly good. As has del Rio turning face, and cm punk vs the rock. Is hhh turning out to be a vaguely decent booker?
ReplyDeleteHey second! Shame im gonna be in bed by the time it starts! Prediction taker costs punk the match by the gong hitting and distracting him for cena to hit the AA
ReplyDeleteAgreed on six-man tags, but I feel The Shield's intensity is what's giving their matches and edge. That and the booking, which has been flawless. I just wonder where they take them now.
ReplyDeleteTaker interfering and costing Punk the match seems like the most obvious path for his return...that said, is there any chance it's SO obvious that they might go another way? Perhaps we still get the Punk/Cena/Rock triple threat, and Taker has some kind of six man (with Sheamus and Ryback) vs The Shield?
ReplyDeleteAlso, if Cena is indeed gonna win the title at Mania, one would expect Punk to be one of his first title feuds. Therefore I don't see the logic of having Cena pin Punk tonight when one of the selling points of a full-on Punk/Cena feud would be that "Cena has never beaten Punk." Why blow that tonight when Cena obviously doesn't need it?
Anyway, Imma predict (and hope) that Taker's return leads to something other than the most obvious route.
WWE was building a great HOF class for 2013, then they announced the douche named Donald, yuck.
ReplyDeleteIs it a no dq match?
ReplyDeleteEarlier at raw, kane gets triple bombed through a table by the shield.
Shield comes out to interfere, punk gets disqualified, undertaker comes out for revenge against the shield, punk goes to sleep him and leaves him laying.
Easy!
Also, donald trump in the WWE hall of fame??? Ffs
ReplyDeleteI just don't see the obvious path happening, because WHY would Taker target Punk, even interfering to cost him the match tonight? Taker's never been anyone to just barge in on anyone's business without being wronged first... that's why I can't connect the dots to get Taker and Punk involved with each other.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I'd love to see Mark Henry face Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania but having him in the same role as Swagger might become problematic in the long run as the worse-case scenario that could happen in this angle, due to the racist nature of it, is the crowd giving the heels babyface pops. I feel this would have more potential to happen if you replace Swagger with Henry as the latter has been receiving some babyface-like reactions as of late and would be better used feuding with someone else leading to an eventual face turn while still keeping his badass wig-splitting Hall of Pain-inducting image and persona. It was mentioned in a previous post that if he does turn face he'd probably go back to being a smiley happy-go-lucky face which would completely piss over any potential WWE has with him being an over face.
ReplyDeleteBut Cena has beat Punk. Clean as a sheet during the build up to the Survivor Series. I was totally baffled by it then.
ReplyDeleteBut why would Taker interfere in Punk match? I guess they could maybe have lights go out Shield jumps Cena, lights go out again, Taker jumps Punk.
ReplyDeleteMaybe save it for next week, punk comes out to cut a whiny ass promo after losing to cena then taker comes out etc etc..
ReplyDeleteHe is a very worthy introduction into the celebrity wing. Certainly much more so than Drew Carey!
ReplyDeleteKeep Mark Henry the fuck away from that Zeb Coulter thing. He's awesome the way he is. A lone wolf destroying everyone in his way because he wants his title back. No stupid political agenda and just straight-up destruction.
ReplyDeleteBesides, How would Mark Henry work in a Tea Party-inspired angle? The group was formed pretty much to oppose a black president. Mark Henry might be an American but he's not Zeb Coulter's kind of American, if you know what I mean...
This whole Glenn Beck thing is really dumb. Beck hasn't been relevant for like 2 years. Way to be current, WWE!
Cena has beaten Punk before when Punk was SES and shortly after Punk got hot in 2011.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2BzAnVfSic
It;s not about being worthy or not, the guy is a piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteJack Swagger didn't get popped for pot. Jake Haber did.
ReplyDeleteDon't be like one of the (quote fingers) "stupid" political commentators that cannot tell the difference between people and the characters that they portray whilst entertaining us with storytelling!
DIdnt Taker interfere in Hogan/HHH to help Hogan win the title? I dont recall if he had ongoing beef with HHH at the time.
ReplyDeleteUm, Glenn Beck was the one that called WWE out. WWE was just responding.
ReplyDeleteWell, so is Ric Flair, but nobody complained about his induction(s).
ReplyDeletethat was cuz UT was the #1 contender the next month and beating Hogan would be a lot easier for him.
ReplyDeleteCena has also beaten him a couple of other times on tv. I wish WWE had the patience to draw this out, instead of Cena getting his win back at the earliest opportunity, because the whole "Cena has never beaten Punk" would actually build a lot of interest and make Cena into the underdog.
ReplyDeleteRic Flair is a different story, the guy is considered one of the best of all time. A Wrestling HOF without Flair would be a farce, kind of like an asshole HOF not containing Trump I suppose...
ReplyDeleteI heard Jake Hager got busted, too. Two Jakes getting popped for pot, what are the odds?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he interfered, if he didn't, we would've never got to see Taker's bike not start for Hogan.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is Jake Haber?
ReplyDeleteApparently WWE is sending cameras to Beck's studios.
ReplyDeleteYea, it seems like WWE's writing team is never unified.
ReplyDeleteThey had Cena vs Rey Mysterio first time ever thrown together on a throw away Raw when that could have legitimately headlined summer slam.
So many examples it's really pointless. Tonight though I doubt it will end clean, Punk has to be kept strong if he's facing UT.
That was awesome, or how about when Taker strung up Hogan and drove him through the arena on his bike lol
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how announcing a match a week ahead of time has me looking forward to the show! What a concept.
ReplyDeleteForget it John, it's Chinatown!
ReplyDeleteWhere is this asshole HOF? I must visit it!
ReplyDeleteMiz!!
ReplyDeleteFrom Mark Henry's character's standpoint, I totally agree. But hypothetically, putting the monstrous black dude in Swagger's role would be intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the Coulter/Swagger thing so far. Hopefully they let Jack off the hook for this.
Why is Ric Flair a piece a shit? He made some poor financial choices as well as some poor love life / family choices. Business wise he is one of the most generous wrestlers in the history of the business. He is well respected by fans and other wrestlers alike. He was capable of a 4 star match well into his fucking 50's!
ReplyDeletePlease explain why Flair is a piece of shit.
It was so bad it was good. I have to watch that stuff again.
ReplyDeleteI just set Disqus to "newest" making this post obsolete (as well as dumb).
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else seen the Iron Sheik's rants against Glen Beck on Twitter? Classic Shieky baby! My favourite was 'The glennbeck win oscar for go f*ck yourself'
ReplyDeleteSomeday I, too, aspire to rag on typos like all the cool kids do!
ReplyDeletelol, right on.
ReplyDeleteHall of Fames are not built on whether a guy is a douche or not, it's built on contributions. For that alone, Trump belongs in there.
ReplyDeleteBy your standards (and opinion), there would be many deserving guys not in any of the existing hall of fames. You could start with Ty Cobb.
D.C. would be a good place for it, lots of assholes there.
ReplyDeleteAny chance Taker no shows??? He decides after working that house show over the weekend he's not ready?? That would really suck!
ReplyDeleteHe must be the first person ever inducted into any Hall of Fame who's not a nice guy!
ReplyDeleteUm, what has trump done for wrestling? One wrestlemania programme? (Which was shite?)
ReplyDeleteWell let's see. There's:
ReplyDelete* Making Mick Foley work with an amputated ear, that he was never able to fix as a result.
* Taking Ring of Honor to the cleaners in every way.
* Screwing over Highspots by giving them a belt he didn't own as collateral to a loan.
* Being a major asshole to everyone in TNA until they let him out of his contract.
* Completely ruining every WWE Legends Roundtable discussion he was involved in by steering everything into talking about how great he was.
There's more, but I'm already bored with talking about him.
The carnage from his professional and personal life stretches out like a figurative tsunami, yet he continues to sacrifice everyone who gives a damn about him in order to continue living life as the WHOO! BY GAWD NAT'CHA BOY!
In other words, he's a piece of shit.
Good call on Cobb. First person I thought of when Asshole Hall of Fame was brought up.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere just off the seedy backstreets of Hollywood and Vine.
ReplyDeleteReally? How old are you? Obviously you don't remember him hosting WM 4 & 5 and the WM that featured him vs. McMahon drew record buys. This alone puts him ahead of a good number of people that are already in.
ReplyDeleteYeah, well, your stupid.
ReplyDelete(do it, you know you want to)
Call me crazy, but I think Swagger has awesome music now.
ReplyDeleteFoley didn't want to miss a pay day, and if ROH, Highspots, and TNA aren't business savvy enough to deal with Naitch than that is their problem. Ric never pulled the wool over Vince's eyes. I enjoy hearing Naitch talk about how great he is WOOOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteThe only person to host Wrestlemania in the same place for two consecutive years. Helped increase the buyrate among the general population for three Manias total. Arguably a more worthy celebrity induction than Mike Tyson.
ReplyDeleteReally? People paid money to see that moron basically talk rubbish on Ppv??? People really are idiots.
ReplyDeleteActually, in addition to the ear thing, he made Foley work when his back was really fucked up, even with a doctor's note saying he shouldn't wrestle otherwise he'd be risking paralysis.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Trump just strikes a nerve. He didnt always, just recently.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for the McMahon/Heyman fight. Main event in any arena in the country.
ReplyDeleteTonight, VINCE McMAHON!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, two guys wrestle for some title match at the next PPV.
So far Trump going in to the WWE HOF is being compared with Flair, one of the greatest of all time, and Cobb being in the MLB HOF. That is laughable.
ReplyDeleteThere are many other celebrities that contributed a helluva a lot more than Trump that arent in the HOF.
Cameras and Yurple.
ReplyDeleteIt also helps when said match involves two guys with such unique and undeniable ring chemistry.
ReplyDeleteTrump should be in over Tyson? Thats fucking laughable. Without Tyson being involved with WM 14, we are probably chatting in a Road to Spring Stampede thread right now.
ReplyDeleteOk, so who comes out after Brock?
ReplyDeleteTriple H...or Undertaker?
Don't much like VKM as a face.
ReplyDeleteHeyman, the ultimate badass
ReplyDeleteburn
ReplyDeleteShould do a record quarter hour.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a shoot BROTHA! (the part about the Cowboys in the Super Bowl)
ReplyDeletethat was hilarious
ReplyDeleteHE'S HARDCORE! HE'S HARDCORE!
ReplyDeleteVince loves purple
ReplyDeleteMan, that music still puts a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteviking. space. lord. brock. lesnar.
ReplyDeleteSigh...and here we go...
ReplyDeleteThat was predictable.
ReplyDeleteHere comes Triple H to tap out.
ReplyDeleteTHE GAME HAS NO HAIR
ReplyDeleteWRESTLEMANIA: UNWANTED REMATCHES BEGINS!!!
ReplyDeleteCole: "Is it him? IS IT HIM?"
ReplyDeleteWho the fuck else would it be with that music?
Goddammit. I was still secretly hoping against the Mania of crappy rematches
ReplyDelete"Give it up, Brock! You're not goin' over!"
ReplyDeleteBrock's intro... um... sound... has been altered to be even more awesome and amplified.
ReplyDelete"Is it him" like who the fuck would it be Michael Cole
ReplyDeleteBrock doesn't give a shit and he's the best thing on the program... imagine if he cared.
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed, a Sandman style run-in
ReplyDeleteLOOK AT THAT WET SPOT ON HUNTER'S FANNY
ReplyDeleteHHH shit his pants?
ReplyDeleteLooks like Brock could've broken HHH's leg there if he wanted to.
ReplyDeleteSTOP THIS UNSANCTIONED BRAWL AND STITCH HIM UP!
ReplyDeleteJesus, Lesnar is insane.
ReplyDeleteBefore they went on the air, I bet HHH told Cole to say "The demon inside him has been released."
ReplyDeleteBleeding a gusher
ReplyDelete"Is it him?! It is HIM?!" as if HHH has been in seclusion for the last 8 months.
ReplyDeleteHHH SHARTED!!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, there's a damp spot in just that area. ANd it was there when he took Brock down at the ramp.
Hulk Hogan building these announce tables? They dont sell shit anymore.
ReplyDeleteholy juice
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of blood.
ReplyDeleteBruno's a crotch chop away from backing out
ReplyDeleteKevin Dunn's doing his best to keep the blood off camera and failing pretty badly.
ReplyDeletewow so much blood so early on raw, don't remember the last time we saw that.
ReplyDeleteOr they should both grab Mics and say how it's fake and that Paul and Brock are the bestest of friends outside the ring. Be A Star
ReplyDeleteis Lawler allowed to say "busted wide open"?
ReplyDeleteTriple H is a dick. He had no right to attack Brock like that. Very unbecoming of a COO.
ReplyDeleteHHH looks like he's in the worst shape of his life... but goddammit, he needs that wrestlemania payday in a rematch no one cares about
ReplyDeleteTriple H looks too much like the Director of Facilities and Records Management at my firm.
ReplyDeleteAny chance that Miz makes a veiled pot reference?
ReplyDeleteIt's great that they are repeating the nonsensical WM25 booking of HHH saving his sorta-heel family from the heel threat so the audience is completely confused.
ReplyDeleteSuch dumb commentary, who the hell else would it be
ReplyDeleteUgh, Dolph has to job to Lex Luger II?
ReplyDeleteYeah he really needs that payday or he will be broke and need to become JBLs Servant
ReplyDeleteLesnar took not one, but two unprotected runs into that ring post. That motherfucker fears nothing.
ReplyDeleteCalm down, ....there was blood back in Bruno's days so "Itsa Okay"
ReplyDeleteThat happened to a guy once.
ReplyDeletelols @ shooting Brock headless. I laughed.
ReplyDeleteTriple H is allowed to have a bloody segment and say "motherfucker" good to be boss.
ReplyDeleteI saw that too. He pissed himself with fear of Brock.
ReplyDeleteMarc Mero coming out to HHH's music. He wants Sable back damnit!
ReplyDelete"I'M HERE TO JOB AGAIN
ReplyDeleteI'M HERE TO JOB AGAAAAAAAAAIN"
Did You Know?
ReplyDeleteRyback eats more meals per day than a third world country does in a month.
AJ has done nothing for Dolph Ziggler. This is pretty much all the evidence one needs to show that she's nothing without D-Bry, and he elevated her terrible self.
ReplyDeleteThat was some gory fucking shit right there and a hot brawl to boot. Of course Lesnar should have killed HHH, but even stevens booking or whatever. And also, HHH's hair now sucks.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, even with Punk/Cena on the horizon, I can't help but feel it's all downhill from here.
Yikes. The Ryback is just awful.
ReplyDeleteFanny means vagina, you imbecile.
ReplyDeleteRyback acts like a jacked up Eugene with his facial expressions
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%
ReplyDeleteHe earns his money...
ReplyDeleteQuestion, I'm not good at spotting this stuff, was Lesner busted open hardway with the turnbuckle shots or did he blade somewhere I didn't see? Either way, great brutal segment.
ReplyDeleteDolph Ziggler wishes he could bump as well as Brock Lesnar.
ReplyDeleteRyback gets taken down by his black doppleganger!
ReplyDeleteLook how useless she has been in this match? She stands there like a mannequin.
ReplyDelete...so sure he's going to beat Ziggler, everyone does that, but do they really want to turn VanDamberg into NWA circa Luger? Chokes away the big ones so you never buy his push? Not impressed with the guy so don't really care, but his push has been weird to say the least.
ReplyDeleteThese two match up great together. If anyone could get the most out of Ryback, it seems it's Ziggler.
ReplyDeleteTurn Raw on to see Ziggler job. Time to turn it off.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, two years too late is pretty good in terms of WWE pop-culture targets.
ReplyDeleteThey really might as well just have Ziggler cash in and lose, because him winning the title is going to do a lot worse for that belt than anything.
ReplyDeleteZiggler jobs. In other breaking news, water is wet.
ReplyDeleteI don't think one person constantly jobbing has ever actually upset me this much before, but it's genuinely sad what they're doing to Dolph.
ReplyDelete...also a reference to the buttocks. Thanks, though.
ReplyDeleteFuck me.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to salvage Ziggler's career at this point? Good lord, Barry Horrowitz had more wins than this guy.
Forget Barry Horrowitz. George fucking South got more wins than this guy.
ReplyDeleteIs Halle Berry trying to top Catwoman?
ReplyDeleteThis company cant be high on Ziggler. Ive heard something to that effect at other sites and i cant believe that.
ReplyDeleteHe's beyond a joke at this point.
He should have been on Real World.
ReplyDeleteSo this movie "starring" David Otunga doesn't even feature him in the trailer, nice overhype job Cole.
ReplyDeleteIt doesnt help Ziggler much that he is stuck with Big E and AJ. They do absolutely nothing for him at all.
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't have found somebody else to do that job to Ryback? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteAnd how the hell did WWE films get Halle Berry and Abigal Breslin?
YOU TAPPED OUT!
ReplyDeleteIt's the equivalent of if they'd jobbed out 1994/95 HBK to Adam Bomb, Crush and Man Mountain Rock, then putting him in the main event against Bret or Diesel and asking us to buy him on top.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to think him cashing in and winning the title is going to instantly fix him.
ReplyDeleteBoy, do they have a surprise coming their way.
YES! YES! YES!
ReplyDeleteWas Cena at TLC seriously the last person Ziggler beat in a match?
ReplyDeleteIf he was on a win streak or hell, winning matches, they can at least prop that up as a tent pole moment but Ziggler has lost so many matches that mentioning the Cena win just reminds everyone that he's lost tons of matches since then and just makes Dolph look like nothing.
I rewound it and it looked legit to me, he seemed surprised he was busted open. He went headfirst into the post and it didn't look like he protected himself, and as fast as he hit the post and was bleeding (you could see blood before he hit the ground), I don't think he had the time to blade.
ReplyDeleteNo chance it's actually Sheik typing these.
ReplyDeleteHe's beaten Kofi, The Miz and Zack Ryder.
ReplyDeleteGONG.
ReplyDeleteHis precious title... The Rocksis steals it! cough cough
ReplyDeleteIron Sheik has a twitter? Fuck me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I literally could not remember a single win he may have had over the past handful of weeks.
ReplyDeleteI am God. (Rocker-Flip)
ReplyDeletePunk just called himself God... amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat promo pretty much guarantees Taker/Punk.
ReplyDeleteOh FFS, really?
ReplyDeleteOh, fuck you, WWE. Fuck you hard. Donald fucking Trump? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how Punk/Cena was going to get me to Punk/Undertaker, and that "I am GOD!" promo may be it.
ReplyDeleteFuck this douche.
ReplyDeleteYou know what match this sets up.
ReplyDeleteCM Punk/Shawn Michaels!
Nonsense. Taker-Miz.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I don't understand why the WWE doesn't do this more often. Even announcing an IC,US or Tag Title match a week beforehand would be cool and give us something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteI hope they boo Trump out of the building.
ReplyDeleteThey glossed over the entire Hair vs. Hair match with Vince and Trump without mentioning the names of either wrestler involved. Yeah, that happened.
ReplyDeleteWatching the Trump package... anything Austin/McMahon brings a smile to my face. Such history, and Vince sells the shit out of anything Austin does.
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about Bobby Lashley until seeing that clip.
ReplyDeleteHe deserves it as much as any other celebrity.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, we can't hear the crowd reaction for this one HOF revelation. Imagine that.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that was an awful editing job.
ReplyDelete"Donald Trump! YOU'RRRREEE---The latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame!"
I've heard better sound editing in the old Smackdown games.
"The Rock...is a tremendous...THE PEOPLE'S ELBOW!"
Meh. Trump = ratings. But he is a douche.
ReplyDeleteWay more deserving than Drew Carey that's for sure
ReplyDeleteMARK HENRY TIME
ReplyDeleteRegardless of your opinion of him, I think Trump is a worthy HoF inductee. WM's IV and V hold their place in history due in part to their being held at Trump Plaza. And of course the WM 23 stuff speaks for itself.
ReplyDeleteIs this year's WM one of the least anticipated of all time?
ReplyDeleteThank you, I thought it was hardway into the post since he didn't protect himself at all but I wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteSee, I've always wondered why nobody has ever used another wrestler's music to cause a distraction. But I suppose everyone needs to keep their leit-motif.
ReplyDeleteMark Herny, it's time to murder someone.
ReplyDeleteThat's what he does...
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate what they're going for with this Khali match, but how many times are we going to pretend that we've never seen Khali manhandled like this?
ReplyDeleteWell, at least that was short. Go Mizark!
ReplyDelete"Check out this sneak peek of The Marine 3! And enjoy us talking over the whole goddamn thing!"
ReplyDeleteMARK, YOU GET BACK IN THAT RING AND DO IT AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteAND THEN KILL MIZ WHILE YOU'RE AT IT
Glad to see Michael Biehn still getting work.
ReplyDeleteI said arguably. Personally, I also think that Tyson is more important.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my sources, Miz is set to star in the new Terminator movie.
ReplyDeleteHas King ever seen a movie before?
ReplyDelete"He's really taking it to, err, I guess you'd say, his opponent there!
This segment with Miz does not look very promising. I don't see a way for him to get his ass kicked at all during this segment.
ReplyDeleteIt still boggles my mind how they push Miz as a babyface.
ReplyDelete"Miz has what it takes to be a big time action star" BWAHAHAH, keep overhyping these movies Cole, he's starting to sound like Tony on Nitro.
ReplyDeleteWe'll know in a few months. It has big shoes to fill in overcoming Wrestlemania IX.
ReplyDeleteSo for that Morgan Freeman movie, I hope they explain how the White House gets attacked. I know it's a movie and all, but a plane would never get that close.
ReplyDeleteNow the giant spaceship in ID4? THAT I can believe!
Umm.. I ain't complainin'
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes time to put someone over, Vince *DOES* it. Was just watching the ass-kicking he took from Shane at WrestleMania X7 over the weekend. 12 years later and I still loved every secod of it.
ReplyDeleteMark Henry is the best worker on the planet and it's not even close.
ReplyDelete
