> I might've missed something, but is there a reason why Madison Square Garden is not being mentioned as a potential site for Wrestlemania 30? I mean, from the first Wrestlemania, then Wrestlemania 20, I would think the "tradition" would continue.
My guess would be that Vince would rather make 50 bazillion dollars on the stadium gate, but I'm no financial wizard.
As the OSW Review guys pointed out, it's so much harder to bomb/kill someone at a place with a roof on it, especially one that is just right across the street from the originally venue.
ReplyDeletebut im still a fan
ReplyDeleteActually WM15 was at the First Union Center (now Wells Fargo Center), which opened in 1996.
ReplyDeleteWhoops!
ReplyDeleteYou called it brah!
ReplyDeleteis the Rumble 2013 location already set? are the February ppv? I would rather like one of those to be in MSG.
ReplyDelete"Aw shit swimwalk"
ReplyDelete...i laughed... You get a pass.
Are they still doing the Japan games?
ReplyDeleteDear Scott,
ReplyDeleteI wrote an e-mail to you, like 2 weeks ago, which says the exact same thing. Why the hell didn't you put mine to the blog? WHY?

ReplyDeleteHe was trying to protect you from looking like an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThey did last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the BEST... but WM17 was the first HUGE step into the production of WrestleMania as it is today. There is no bigger jump than from WM2000 to WMX7. For the first and only time, I was actually in awe of just seeing the entrance ramp.
ReplyDeleteLOVED that Vince narrated promo, "JOIN ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND SCREAMING FANS!" The old WM music sells it. Ah, nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteYou win this round.
ReplyDeleteThose games are usually terrible, probably because they're not used to playing at 7 AM.
ReplyDeleteThat I did...now gimme 10 bucks.
ReplyDeleteYup clearly, that was really the first modern dome WrestleMania. Great looking set too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I always loved that promo too -- although back in the day I think most people hated it because they ran it to death on all the TV shows and PPVs. We were getting the WrestleMania hard sell a year in advance.
ReplyDeleteYou can tell Vince wanted it *badly*. Have you seen the picture of him standing on top of the billboard in Los Angeles in his workout gear right with a huge grin on his face after they put it up to hype the event?
Warrior / Hogan II was probably their best bet to fill the place, although given the relatively medicore buyrate that did on PPV, they probably had doubts about pulling that off. Vince had some serious guts then, if not brains in this case.
