  1. Aw, no mention of the hardcore matches where you can throw the UNBREAKABLE WATERMELON at each other?

  2. That MIDI file for "Assman" at the end is so terrible it makes the original sound good.

  3. Definitely a criticism of SD2 as well as I. My brother and I used to play this for hours and it was basically a crap shoot who would win ladder matches. No predictability to how long a guy would be down after certain moves.

  4. never was a fan of sd until HCTP

  5. I bought a PS1 for the first time to play this game cause it looked like so much fun. I remember this came out in March and Smackdown 2 (which had all the guys Gagne laments missed the cutoff in it) came out in November.

    Good times.

  6. The game also fixed matches something fierce. I battered Stone Cold for a solid 10 minutes, he hit one stunner and it was over. There were some matches where I just knew I wasn't going to win.

I always played as Ken Shamrock.

  7. Did this game have Tazz in it? I remember going crazy with various suplexes...and then losing to a sunset flip.

  8. I jumped on at Shut Your Mouth, for some reason the ability to just walk around backstage and interact with other superstars really grabbed me.

But man, my friends and I almost got as much replay value out of HCTP as we did with Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy.

  9. my friends and i hated no mercy, but loved wm2000.

there was too much slow down on the triangle tag ladder match.

  10. Joe Gagne is really doing the lord's work with these reviews. I get a huge nostalgia kick out of each of these.

  11. I believe this is the only game to have a certain move that I absolutely love... Jeff Hardy had something called a twisting knee drop from the top rope. He'd jump off the turnbuckle, hit the back of his thighs on the top rope, and backflip into a splash. It was awesome, and never seen again.

  12. God, this game came out in 2000? Christ, that makes me feel pretty old...

Yeah, I enjoyed this game immensely. I took my CAW to the WWF Championship. My major beef though is once you got to the top of the card, every match opponent was either HHH, The Rock, SCSA, or Mankind. I would have preferred to see things mix up a little bit, but eh...I played the shit out of it regardless.

  13. I remember one time when I was simming through the Season Mode, Big Show somehow became the Women's Champion. I played every one of his matches for a while so he would be the most dominant Diva the company would ever see.

  14. I miss these old glitches... I swear the only way you could beat Austin was with Rock or Undertaker. Either that or I sucked total ass at this game, cause I loved using Edge in season mode and I could never beat Austin with him

  15. Fuck this game and fuck Yukes, AKI 4 Life.

  16. I loved how it would keep track of wins and losses

  17. I preferred SYM to HCTP too. The SYM roster was HUGE, and had a ton of big names from all the eras when you look back at it. Austin, Rock, Hogan, Undertaker, DDP, Booker, Nash... Even John Cena is in the game as a pre-made CAW!

  18. "There were some matches where I just knew I wasn't going to win."

Sounds like what a HHH DVD would sound like if all his opponents were injected with truth serum before being interviewed.....

  19. Great job on these reviews, Grandpa Verne would be proud.....
The McNabb reference was great btw....

RVDs split legged moonsault??? I think they had it in Attitude it was used for created guys and called "Hollywood splash"... I think?

  21. Yeah facing Austin sucked in these games.

  22. Nope not that one. His legs stayed together on the drop to the top rope... same idea though.

  23. Similarly, I LOVED the chokeslam off the turnbuckle to the floor move. So ridiculous but at the same time amazing.
