Hey Scott,
Since you're digging up lots of your old material, I thought I'd point you over to this gem, which you may not remember from 12 (!) years ago
Good for a laugh, if you can roll with the punches, and I think the Blog of Doomers would get a kick out of it :)
Yeah, I remember that one. It wasn't done with malice towards me or anything, and it was pretty funny. The REALLY hateful ones tended to be people who worshiped Russo or were still bitter about WCW's death or whatever.
i have a bunch of old thunder rants you sent me once if you need those.
ReplyDeleteTo anybody who's reading this: DO NOT CLICK ON THAT LINK!
ReplyDeleteThat Geocities link tried to install a backdoor trojan on my computer and I just went through a pain in the ass process of getting it removed and getting the computer back to normal. I'm posting this as a warning because I don't want what just happened to me to happen to any of you guys. So be very careful and stay away.
Anyone else have this issue? I didn't see this comment until I already opened it. Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and my anti-virus didn't alert me to anything...but ya know, it might just suck.
ReplyDeleteLOL NUTCUP
ReplyDeleteMy computer seemed fine, too.
ReplyDeleteme neither.
ReplyDelete@ WaylonMercy24: do you have Adblock, No Script etc. running?
I just clicked on the link and my computer flipped out, with a YOU MUST DOWNLOAD AN ADOBE FLASH UPDATE! I thought Capslock Man had gotten hold of it at first.
ReplyDeleteI quickly closed the page and then I saw your comment.
I didn't get a warning, and I just did a full Malwarebytes scan (including a rootkit scan) just in case and that didn't show anything either.
ReplyDeleteThere was a guy calling himself "Not Keith" that ran a site called The Schmucks.com where he reviewed e-federation results.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have both and it still proceeded to hijack my browser.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I tried to open Internet Explorer, AVG and Webroot, they would immediately close before I could even do anything.
And normally if I stumble upon a malicious site, Webroot will alert me and block it, however this trojan happened so quickly that Webroot couldn't even respond in time. I called a Windows administrator and he told me to shut it off and turn it back on.
He said the virus would still be there when I turned it back on but at least AVG and Webroot will be able to block it and eliminate it. I asked him how exactly does that work, because to me that didn't make any sense but he explained that when you turn the computer off, the virus is asleep so that when you turn it back on, it will be slower to react when you go to your anti-virus software, so he said to just do that and as long as I don't open Internet Explorer, the anti-virus software will notice it and eliminate it before anything major can happen.
Sure enough, when I turned it back on, AVG and Webroot were up and running and quickly informed me that I had 64[!!!] viruses and a fake security program called Internet Security 2013 that tried to run a fake scan/install more viruses but it was blocked in time and eliminated altogether. I then did a full computer scan, an update scan and an anti-rootkit scan with AVG, a full scan with Webroot, a full defragmenter and a test with AVG PC Tune-Up and thankfully nothing's been destroyed. All of my downloads, files, programs and personal info are still intact.
Sorry for the delayed response, I had to go to work but I'm just glad I'm able to use my computer again after being extremely worried about the possibility of having a dead computer and having my identity stolen to boot.
