Holy shit, if someone had told me all they would need is Eric Bischoff, unlimited resources, and a smartphone, I would have told them to get on that shit years ago! Goddamn, why didn’t I think of that? THIS MAN IS A GENIUS.
Also, EVERYTHING IS FINE.
Relevant reposting because I'm a shameless hoor:
ReplyDeleteTHE ONLY THING THAT'S KEEPING US FROM BEATING THE BOYS UP NORTH IS A FREE CASH FLOW, BROTHER! WE NEED THE KEYS, WE NEED THE MONEY, WE NEED THE CARS, BUT MOST OF ALL, WE NEED ALL THE POWER, DUDE!
BUT DIXIE, SHOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN, YOU RUN OUT OF CASH, AND THE WHOLE PANDA ENERGY RUNS OUT OF CASH....JUST HANG ON TO THE LARGEST BACK IN THE WORLD, AND I'LL DOGPADDLE, BACKSTROKE, ALL OF US TO SAFETY!
This fucking parasite will attach himself to any means of relevancy he can find until he's sucked them all dry and leaves them dead by the side of the road. And then we get to watch a bullshit blowjob "biopic" about his life full of all the crazy deluded lies that dance behind his eyelids every night.
ReplyDeleteMaybe now Hulk can finally give us that second season of Celebrity Championship Wrestling that he promised us four years ago or that second Australia tour that he also promised for that matter.
ReplyDelete1. Fire Hogan
ReplyDelete2. Strap the rocket to ANY BABYFACE
First WCW, probably TNA next. Should Hogan be remembered as the megastar from the 80's or as the guy who killed two companies?
ReplyDeleteSo if they just had iPhones in 1998 WCW would have won the Monday night war?
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Fuck all the authority figures and "control of the company" shit and just build someone to chase Bully.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't bring Hogan into TNA.
ReplyDeleteQuick! Somebody ready the flux capacitor!
ReplyDeleteWe're gonna go back... to the future!
Do we have the Mr. Fusion or will I have to dupe some Libyans out of their plutonium?
ReplyDeleteIs TNA really in trouble or is it more they realised you don't need to spend so much to maintain their level of disappointment?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that bothers me is how saggy Hulk's muscles look. It's so depressing to me to see my heroes get old and out of shape. Can't they just smarten up like Stallone and get on the HGH train? Stallone's gonna be a fucking power house until he's 130. Everyone over 50 is gonna be on HGH in 10 years anyway, why fucking wait. Hell, I want to be on it now.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what's this from? What crowd is this? I can only imagine smarks going to a Hogan & Bischoff Q&A, and I can't imagine them cheering the whole "give this guy the keys" deal. But then again, most smarks are cowards who talk big online but if they saw Kevin Nash in person they'd probably spend a good hour talking about how great Good Friends, Better Enemies is, and how funny the FPOD was.
ReplyDeleteWCW never makes it as big as it does without Hogan so Hogan in WCW is a paradox.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think he looked that bad and I would be willing to bet Hogan has been a lifelong user of PED's. The only exception being right after the steroid trial towards the end of his WWF run.
ReplyDeleteTNA dies with or without Hogan. I wouldn't blame him for killing TNA.
ReplyDeletegotta have money to get on HGH.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a second season of CCW, that was one of the funniest damn shows ever.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, the authority figure gimmick is dead and needs to go away for a long time. If they'd build up someone home-grown and push them correctly as a challenger for Bully they'd be doing better. Kill off the A&8s and get rid of Anderson as well, I hate that SOB.
ReplyDeleteHowever, here's the big question. If Hogan had not come to WCW in 94, and then followed by Hall and Nash, what would've happened with WCW? I think they would still be around, but be a TNA level company building the next generation of stars, but they would never have reached the heights they hit in 96/98. So, would a smaller WCW still in existence be better then a brief era of hotness followed by a quick crash and burn?
ReplyDeleteI don't think TNA will die though. If Panda gives up on it, I can see Spike picking it up and doing a massive house cleaning. It still gets good enough ratings to appease Spike, and I think they want to keep a wrestling show on the network. I assume Hogan/Bischoff/Briscoe and any other useless dead weight would be kicked to the curb, maybe a whole reboot ala WCW that one time.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is from the Fan Expo in Toronto last weekend. I went to that Expo part, but didn't want to pay 250$ to see Hogan. However I know a lot of people who were willing to pay that much. That's the problem with this conventions, they charge too much for all the celeb stuff, hell 80$ for a Hasselhoff autograph?
ReplyDeleteYou say that, and yet you don't do it. Also, one would think Hogan's system has developed a high tolerance to HGH and PEDs. Plus his body is so fucked he probably can't train anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who is legit arguing that TNA isn't in trouble should stfu, because if Hogan is willing to talk about fixing it, it must be broke.
ReplyDeleteWCW would have remained bigger than TNA. Before Hogan they still had a massive group with legit stars, real booking and access to TBS. They'd have ruled the South, which still means a pretty nice sum of money considering they might not have run off all the old rasslin' fans who quit watching.
ReplyDeleteI agree they would have ruled the South, since without Hogan/Hall/Nash coming in and making a mess guys like Flair and Sting wouldn't have been pushed to the back. But would they have gotten a shot at Prime Time on Monday Nights? Would Luger have come back? Would the ECW guys have gone their? Would RAW still be one hour with all squash matches. It's something to think about, as what kind of alternate universe would it be without HH in WCW??
ReplyDeleteNo matter what happened with Hogan, Hall and Nash or the rise of WCW, as soon as the AOL/Time Warner deal goes through, WCW is still dead in the water, because they still didn't want it on their TV networks. One way or another, I think WCW ends in 2001.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jamie Kellner still cancels TV and the company was still bleeding money.
ReplyDeletePlutonium isn't readily available at every convenience store in 2013?
ReplyDeleteYES.
ReplyDeleteOn another thread I've been pushing Magnus to win BFG Series and the title, but mainly because I think he's the best choice in that field.
Overall though, I'd say Storm has the most break-out potential of anyone in the company. He's pretty damaged now, but like you outline he COULD be rebuilt.
This would mean they'd have to have Bully retain the title at BFG, and then do Storm's title win on Impact in Nov or December. And honestly, that's probably more beneficial long term. I mean BFG will probably get what, 10-15k buys? Where as Impact gets about 1 million viewers, right? If they're gonna kickstart a new babyface champ, probably better off doing it on the TV show.
There are worse options than a modern-day Dusty Rhodes. Anyone can be rebuilt; look at Bully. He's been absolutely killing it. I'd like there to not even be PPVs after this year. Make it a TV show with a live tour. Why throw good money after bad?
ReplyDeleteI'm a smark, and I love Hogan and Nash.
ReplyDeleteMegastar from the 80s. It can't be argued the impact he had on wrestling then. It can be argued he wasn't the most responsible for killing either of those companies.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Is there still a way to make money by using TV to draw to your live events. Like if TNA just ripped off the old 80s model of booking TV to enhance the talent roster and ran a ton of shows in mostly 'B' markets. From what I've heard, house shows is one of the few things TNA does particularly well and seem to have a good fan-wrestler interaction.
ReplyDeleteJust curious to see if such a model would still work and make money.
I don't see why not. Especially since Spike probably Helps fund the TV
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking that Scott's description was just playful exaggeration... nope, he actually says that "all" he needs is a donation of unlimited money.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
I just think the best way to compete with the WWE is to admit they can't compete and just try to build a strong number two that makes money. TNA wastes too much time trying to compete and too little trying to make money and draw a consistent fan base.
ReplyDeleteI love the old model. Tape your two hours of television. Feature the guys in entertainment squashes and promos. Build to your live shows and quarterly PPVs. Have a reliable hand running the house show booking.
Yeah, that's why I said most.
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself a smark, but I suppose I am. But I too dig Hogan & Nash.
Back when you collected action figures, what was your prized piece?
$250 to see Hogan? Holy shit.
ReplyDeletelorraine mcfly had big fake titties
ReplyDeleteHGH, or hormone replacement therapy, is for older guys. Or, I should say, is best for older guys. That's why Stallone looks the way he does. Also, if I'm going to get on the gear, I want to do it right. I want to get it from a DR, and have check-ups & blood work to make sure everything is OK. I'm not in such a need for it that I'll order a kit from Mexico and just start sticking myself.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason, is because it's expensive as FUCK. A simple kit of test, that'll run you $300-500 for a 6 week cycle. HGH? Forget about it. When Lou Ferrigno got back into competitive bodybuilding in the early 90's, he spent over $100,000 on the drugs.
And Hogan can train. In that sex tape he says that he's been hitting the weights again.
Unfortunately we won't get the big future boom until 2015.
ReplyDeleteThe sex tapes a few years old though. He had a bunch of surgeries since then I think?
ReplyDeleteThis!
ReplyDeleteThis seems so basic to me...almost ANY business looking to break into a saturated market and build a sustainable profitable business must carve out a niche for themselves by creating a loyal customer/fan base. This is usually done by differentiating themselves in some small way from the standard market options. If you think TNA, what do you think of? Workrate? Entertainment? Great storylines? I dont think of anything really.
ReplyDeletePick a direction to differntiate themselves, establish a small loyal fanbase, create a brand, become profitable and self sustaining, and then and only then can you even think about competing with Vince.
Not to be that guy, but I remember a piece you posted in may (think it was may, could be slightly off) where you stated that you believed tna was in good shape, and that speculating anything else then this was hitting the panic button. What has caused you to change your opinion on tna?
ReplyDeleteActually what I said was that they'll never be real competition and the best they can do is tread water in second place. But, that was before they left Universal to go on the road full time, or at least not long after the change. Clearly that is eating a giant hole in their profits and causing a calamity situation. The money they were being paid to run at the Impact Zone as an attraction was clearly better than what they've been netting after all the costs of travel, and it will be their death. But of course, you can't tell all the parrots who wrote "How I'd Fix TNA" posts and headlined them with "Get out of the Impact Zone" that.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Hogan. With big enough pockets, you can make TNA into a powerhouse bigger than WWE. You did it once before and I have faith you can do it again, and I still love watching Nitro every Monday night!
ReplyDelete$80 for a Hasselhoff autograph is pretty steep. At least Virgil only charges $20.
