Looking to the BoD for inspiration

By
Going home pretty soon and I have a 17 hour flight.
I hate the viewing choices on international flights so I made the decision to watch some wrestling.

For all the years I have watched wrestling, I am coming up blank at what I want to watch, so I am looking to the BoD for inspiration.

I'd like a nice mix of workrate, entertaining crap, squash matches, classic WCW/ECW/ROH/TNA/WW(F)E, maybe some Japan/Mexico.

Whatever you recommend, I will look up and "acquire"

    You can never go wrong with Bryan Danielson in ROH. His match with Paul London in 2003 was amazing.

    "(YEAR) Wrestling" in Youtube Search. Start with your birthyear for fun.


    Need to sleep? Pick anything pre-1980. ;) (Although there is some GREAT stuff there.)

    If you can find all of the Wrestling Observer matches of the year, those are always a great choice.
    Also, the first TNA X cup, with Teddy Hart and Juvy tearing things up is always great.

    Search for Saturday Night Main event you will find a ton.

    Also, Samoa Joe v Kobashi.

    And if you haven't done it yet, the last two Steve Austin podcasts are three hours of him and Flair chatting and it's pretty amazing.

    Well, I am not very familiar with ROH - but there are some things I want to check out - I think they have compilations dedicated to the original Summer of Punk. And they put together a series of 6 or 7 DVDs from 2006 called the Milestone Series, which is supposed to be some of their best stuff - covering the ROH/CZW feud, appearances by Dragon Gate wrestlers from Japan, a lots of Samoa Joe & Bryan Danielson (who was ROH champ at the time). And while it's not part of the series, I've also heard good things about the Wargames-style match that blows off the ROH/CZW feud and setups the Homicide/Cornette feud.

    As I've said - I haven't seen this stuff, but it's what I'd look for if I was in your position.

    I think I liked 87 a bit more but 88 also had the double-turn between the Powers of Pain and Demolition. But really, you cant go wrong with either one.

    The Danielson/Morishima feud from ROH is one of my all-time favorites. There's very little angle to it; the whole story is told through the escalating intensity of the matches as they move from a sporting rivalry for the title (Manhattan Mayhem 07) to the ultimate personal blood-feud (Final Battle 2008).

    Look, no bullshit.. The last 3 minutes of Nakamura vs. Ibushi are the BEST last 3 minutes of a match in the history of EVER. The powerbomb, knees to the Phoenix Splash, Nakamura punking Ibushi out something strong as if he blew a spot or something, then Ibushi WILL TAKE NO MORE OF THIS~!, he hits Nakamura with Palm Strikes straight out of the Miyagi play book... Show me Wax the Car, Show me Paint the Fence.. A couple Bomb-a-ye's.. a MOTHERFUCKING ONE COUNT~!

    How can a wrestling fan (a fan of "WRESTLING") ask for anything more than this instant classic of a main event~?!?!? I'm like, overcome with chills just typing this.
