Reasons for RVD and Dolph Ziggler not Being Pushed
According to a few sources, Dave Meltzer reported that RVD is being punished for not signing a contract extension. His contract ends on October 1st but is scheduled to work a few more dates after that. These sources also report that many in the company do not believe that Ziggler has what it takes to become a top guy and will never draw them any money. Speaking of Ziggler, he is now booking himself more stand-up gigs and is trying to do more improv gigs too in order to improve on his promos

Reason #1-infinity not to push RVD... He got busted with weed as the WWE champion.
ReplyDeleteAnd they wonder why Ziggler never gets over..
ReplyDeleteTNA would be smart to just let Hogan walk away. They don't need him and he's a drain on their finances.
ReplyDeletePerhaps saddling a guy with a shit name like Dolph Ziggler makes it hard to market & make money off of him, no matter how good he is in the ring?
ReplyDeleteThe face turn just hasn't worked for Dolph. I can't put my finger on why, but maybe holding off for too long with mitb briefcase and cashing it in on a champ with little heat maybe cost him. The fans were only rooting for ziggler because of his stop start pushes and the pop he got when cashing in would never be sustained.
ReplyDeleteEven though hes a face, hes still comes across as a douche imo.
ReplyDeleteThey should probably just mercy kill the WHC title and the US title.
ReplyDeleteFair enough on RVD: Why make him champpion if he won't sign?
ReplyDeleteDolph is great in the ring, they just need him as a 1) Heel who is 2) a threat. He should join Corporation 2.0 as Orton's right hand man
Exactly. He's still that guy that you just want to smack.
ReplyDeletethis has nothing to do with your comment, its just for my knowledge.
ReplyDeletedid you watch any other wrestling besides wwe/wwf as a kid?
RVD and Ziggler: I can understand RVD, but they've utterly wasted Ziggler. And unless the crowd does something, Dolph's a lost cause at this point. Hell, he might be one anyway.
ReplyDeleteHogan: Back in TNA? Shit.
Styles/WWE: Understandable. He's just not a good enough promo, and that IS a wrestling skill.
Others/WWE: I know of Prince and Anderson, nothing about Volador.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, not so much the US title but I don't want to live in a world without the Big Gold Belt.
Only if matched by a renewed emphasis on the remaining belts.
ReplyDeleteI've got some Delta Airlines credit, maybe I can fly to Nashville and start a 'Let Hogan Walk' picket line.
ReplyDeletenot really, he has a panda energy contract so his money comes from Bob Carter instead of the companies.
ReplyDeleteHe is a drain and they dont need him, but his paychecks are cut by the parent company.
maybe it's cause they just did the paint by numbers babyface act for him, instead of keeping more of what got him over?
ReplyDeleteIt's not quite WCW International Heavyweight Championship level just yet, but the WHC is a poor, poor brother to the WWE title.
ReplyDeleteMan, this RVD run is such a missed opportunity on both sides. Coming off hot he was from the MITB return and that awesome match he had with Jericho the next night in Brooklyn, RVD absolutely could have been a huge short term star. Especially with Raw being controlled by the HHHeel faction for now, they absolutely could have put the WHC on Van Dam, kept him separate from the Corporation stuff (like they're doing with Punk) and let Smackdown be the RVD show. With how over RVD was and how solid his ring work has been, he absolutely could have carried the Friday show as babyface champ for a few months before dropping it to Sandow or Del Rio or Ambrose or whichever heel they really wanted to make.
ReplyDeleteInstead he immediately was turned into "just another guy."
Dolphs got tremendous in ring talent and has gotten better on the mic. I agree that right now somethings lacking but its because: HES BEEN JOBBED AND HASNT HAD A STORYLINE IN FUCKING MONTHS. Just go back and listen to the pop he gets the night after WM.
ReplyDeleteFair enough. I'll just miss the physical belt.
ReplyDelete*baked*
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. the WHC, is basically what the Intercontinental title was in the 90s. The US and Intercontinental may be worth less than what the European title was worth 1997-1999. Get rid of the WHC, because no singles title with the word "world" in it should be seen as a mid card title. Then get rid of the US title, and elevate the Intercontinental title to the importance it had when HBK and Razor or Y2J and Benoit fought over it. There are too many titles right now, and not a big enough roster to justify them anymore. I know these titles have an important history, but WWE is ruining that history by keeping these titles and doing nothing with it.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to fault them not wanting to bother with a guy who's just going to leave in a bit. The Ziggler crap is much more annoying.
ReplyDeleteFuck RVD, ive never seen the appeal.
ReplyDeleteWait... then how in the hell was he behind on his paychecks a couple months back? Or was that one of those "TNA GONNA DIE TOMORROW!" stories, just fabricated from whole cloth?
ReplyDeleteProblems with Ziggler
ReplyDelete-Name doesnt pass the Finkel test
-No signature moves
-No impactful finisher
-No catch phrase
-No defining mid card moment
