I might have thrown this one up before, don't remember. Punk and Austin trying to hype up WWE '13. Austin channels his 1996-early 1997 persona by just being miserable and annoyed the whole time. Ross plays his role perfectly, being somewhat of a passive aggressive instigator. Was it just about the video game or were these guys possibly planting the seeds for something bigger that didn't come to fruition? Either way everyone seemed to be in good form here although I almost forgot the calm, babyface version of Punk.
Lol Austin and that Damn kneebrace.
ReplyDeleteA program with Austin and heel Punk would be so fantastic. Vince must not want my $70
A couple of thoughts:
ReplyDeleteWhat is this "title" thing Austin keeps referring to? Why would a wrestler want that? I thought everyone now fights over "the face of the company"
Also, that 12 minute video of letting two pros go at it was more drama than the past few months of WWE television has produced outside of the Rhodes angle.
Jim Ross is so good at so many little things like this. Good thing he was fired.
ReplyDeleteI could listen to Austin cut promos all day. Love it.
ReplyDeleteNothing like using serious wrestling angles to sell video games rather than that dumb TV show thing we have to watch between video game releases.
ReplyDeleteThis really made me miss the pre-Wrestlemania 13 Austin. That nine-month span betweek KotR 1996 and Wrestlemania where he was just talking shit to everyone in sight was good stuff.
ReplyDeleteSCSA is wrestling another match on the same show that Cena turns heel and Taker's streak ends.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Stone Cold's coming back for Wrestlemania?
ReplyDeleteHe means its NOT happening
ReplyDeleteAustin promos - oh, those were the days.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7yLbfNywhI - still my favorite of his.
I see that sarcastic wit is not appreciated by the BODers...

ReplyDeleteIf Danial Bryan had once of these, since he was already shown to have the drive and desire to become great, he'd be 100x more over. Instead he gets called "B+"
Of course then you'd have to wonder why "The Authority" is producing videos for people they supposedly don't want to succeed. Just another way the whole angle is stupid.
I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeletethere's no creed, but this isn't bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdZbj0uEAS8
ReplyDeleteDamn that video is great. Talk about a time capsule circa 2000.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, but, as you note, it can't touch the SCSA video above.
ReplyDeleteha, well, that was supposed to be a dig, because to hell with creed. the Austin one's better though, no debate.
ReplyDeleteAustin has said he'd like to come back to work a program with Punk someday but has also said he's not sure he'll ever be up for that return physically. So probably a little bit of seeds being planted in case he did decide to return.
ReplyDeleteThe issue isn't Vince. It's that one of the guys is retired, almost 50 years old, and has a history of neck and knee problems.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy that it is "A" promo of the day and "THE" promo of the day.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't
ReplyDeleteWasn't there also a Stone Cold video done to the Offspring?
ReplyDeleteHas Punk always had a tattoo on his knee? I have never noticed that one before... I bet that hurt like a motherfucker...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLWsK1ZFunA
ReplyDeleteThis should be the other promo of the day. THE WINTER SOLDIER!
Yeah but it's not as good as the Creed one (first time that sentence has ever been written).
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehTnBxflTng
Austin was a member of the Dangerous Alliance right? There's your Paul Heyman guy!
ReplyDeleteI always want to encourage additional promos of the day.
ReplyDeleteIt would be quite awesome, sadly Austin really does not seem to want to have to devote the time it would take to get in ring shape to do so.
ReplyDeleteI know, I was kidding. Although in his podcast he talked about a recent diet/weight training upgrade to prep for his next movie. But I doubt that translates to ring shape.
ReplyDeleteIf Vince thru Steve stupid money, I honestly think he would consider. WM19 was a perfect exit, but still a final match with Punk would be an even more ultimate send off
ReplyDeleteI guess it's all what you view as the 'ultimate send off'. Ultimately of course it's up to these guys how they want to be remembered and what their last moment is, but as a fan I would have preferred to never have seen Michael Jordan in a Wizards outfit or Ric Flair wrestling in his late 50's.
ReplyDeleteHow about Roddy Piper cutting a crazy promo on Dusty Rhodes & George Steele?. With Kevin Sullivan & Ole Anderson showing up to add their two cents?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEM3uexfYKA
Totally psyched.
ReplyDeleteHe has plenty of money and makes crappy movies and is happy. Leave him alone.
ReplyDeleteMan, as much as I hate Creed... that song is money.
ReplyDeleteThey really need to do some more produced pieces for RAW. It's too bad JR had to take the fall for the whole WWW '14 panel and "retire" because he's amazing at these.
ReplyDeleteAlso, notice how much credit they give each other, while cutting each other down at the same time. No B+ talk here.
ReplyDeleteSo wait, this not understanding that WWE Champion = face of the company is an actual real thing people are doing?
ReplyDeleteIMO it is more about being part of a great angle with the right opponent for Austin and I don't think he trusts WWE not to piss all over it.
ReplyDeleteThey are called championships.
ReplyDelete"I ain't no sexy boy."
ReplyDeleteNever seen this but damn if it wasn't better than anything WWE has put out in a decade. Austin being a total asshole and Punk just aggravating him for over 10 minutes.
ReplyDelete"I don't dance son."
ReplyDeleteImagine the waves a promo like this would start today....it is SO different than anything the WWE is putting out now.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great segment because it actually makes me want to see them wrestle.

ReplyDeleteI prefer THIS "My Sacrifice" video. Check the synch between the lyrics and the clips. WWF/E production is SO fucking money...
Verne Gagne thinks Ric Flair stuck around too long....
