TNA?

So now that Hogan and Eric and Pritchard are no longer there, who the hell is booking TNA anyway?
 
I was watching the RF video Raven shoot yesterday, and I really, really wish they'd bring him in to book/write/produce/whatever now that his wrestling career is for all intents and purposes over.

I believe J-E-double-F is the last man standing as far as creative for that company.  But as you noted, who the hell knows?  

They should just go for broke and hire Raven, Jake Roberts and Scott Hall to book the shows, with whoever is sober that day getting control.  You would NEVER get a boring show.

    I think Raven has stated that he's been clean and sober for over a decade now. Unless he relapsed a couple of times that I'm unaware of. He always said that he got cleaned up during his second ECW run.
    During his appearance on the Austin podcast a couple of weeks ago, Joey Styles said he had seen Raven and didn't think he'd kept in ring shape. Seems like he'd be an easy call as an agent in TNA at the very least and would be receptive if he's no longer actively wrestling.

    IIRC Raven is also diabetic, which is really tough to control on the road. I'd have Raven, Hall and Jake all booking via Skype, for safety.

    Being a diabetic is news to me. I know he had problems with his thyroid a few years back. I still think he could do it, even if he has diabetes. Its not like TNA is on the road all that much.

    I was thinking the same thing although I guess it's easy for us to say since we don't know the severity of his beetis and don't have to deal with it ourselves. Would be awesome if that happened though. I always thought Raven seemed like a good candidate to transition from wrestler into successful booker/backstage person.

    Its split into two shows now. A clean show which usually appears on Tuesday and a blue one that comes out on Thursday. Joey was on the clean one.

    I have a friend that has type 2 and all he really needs to do is watch his blood sugar and what he eats. I don't see how that would prevent him from doing the job.

    Everyone from 2009 onward who said they would never watch TNA with Hogan and Bischoff there (the same ones from 2006 to 2009 that said they wouldn't watch with Russo there) are out of excuses.


    Unless they're refusing to watch until Dixie sells.

    His is not so much relapsing is dealing with health issues stemming from long term drug use, IIRC.

    It wouldn't prevent him at all. Type 1 is insulin dependent an that is difficult to manage but type 2 can be managed just like your friend

    Hall's appearance on the Austin podcast turned me into a huge Hall mark. If it wouldn't compromise his sobriety I think Hall should definitely be an agent. Assuming TNA is around in a year (and I'd be shocked if it wasn't) I think he could be brought in then.

    People hate clean shows apparently. The clean show's not even that clean, he just refuses to say a couple of four letter words on that version but it's not like that show could be broadcast on Radio Disney or anything so people shouldn't be too mad about that.

    I think you could have Cornette as part of a creative team - assuming he can get along well with others (which is a big assumption). I don't think giving him the whole book would be a good idea.

    I wouldn't put him in charge of the booking but I would definitely make him a commentator since it's not like Taz is valuable to the company or anything. It would also be a great way to keep him around for the long haul without driving him insane and driving him out of the company.
    Putting Cornette in a booking environment is just asking for him to snap.

    I think Scott would back me up when I say that, throughout 2012, save for Claire Lynch and the involvement of Brooke, TNA was a very solid product. Yet, you'd still find people saying they wouldn't eat from the vast salad bar, just because they don't like that there's black olives in one of the trays.

    If they were seriously thinking about hiring these guys, youd think workibg from home would be the best move if possible. Thrusting addicts back into their old environment is typically not a good idea, plus it would lessen the amount of "babysitting" TNA would feel obligated to do. Its not optimal, but bring them on as part time consultants to the agents or booking team and go from there.

    Sometimes. I've got a lot of Type I's in the family and it is definitely different from Type II, which is generally less severe. The wild card with Type II is the cause; while Type I is a genetic autoimmune problem, Type II can be genetic, lifestyle or just bad luck. Raven's addiction issues probably make his disease harder to manage before even getting into the problems he'd have getting care as I doubt he was insured.

    I would expect its mostly Jarrett and Borash doing the booking. If I was there I'd look at some of the talent with the company who might do a good job booking. Maybe give Bully, Daniels, Joe, Sting, among others a shot at being booker.

    Honestly, Scott, that's not a terrible idea.


    Bring DDP and his yoga guys up. Roberts and Hall can run creative, and DDP can be the liaison between talent and creative.



    If they do the Impact style tapings instead of touring, you're not asking the problem guys to go on the road much at all.


    TNA doesn't have to be much; it just needs to be an alternative to the stuff that people are tired of in the WWE. I don't care if they have big stars; keep the budget small, produce good wrestling shows, and MAYBE bring in the occasional superstar for a temporary run. Keep bringing up new talent, and eventually you'll strike gold.

    With the DDP guys in Atlanta already, just move the tapings to something like the old Center Stage. Atlanta has one of the best airport infrastructures* and it should be no problem getting in talent from all over the globe.
    *in terms of having lots of destinations. In terms of passenger experience, they need Chicago running them.

    Booking or storylines isn't the problem. It's the wrestling talent. Its the one way they could compete with WWE. There is no excuse for watching guys like Hero, Cesaro, Bryan, Ambrose, Rollins etc etc year after year until WWE finally decides to snatch them up.

    On No Mercy, when Big Show got sent to OVW they scrubbed him from the game and subbed in Stevie, so in all the story modes it was Stevie in main events and main eventing WM2K in the 4 way, and I think the joke just grew from that with the Benoit thing.

    Unless I'm mistaken the Richards joke is a reference to the N64 No Mercy videogame.
    When it was released The Big Show had been sent down to the minors for being out of shape. However, the game reflected many storylines which Show had been involved in. As a result the designers had to pick a character to replace him and they made the rather odd choice of using 'Right To Censor' era Richards.
    With Benoit airbrushed from a lot of WWE history, the gag is that Richards replaced him in the many notable events he took part in.

    They've had stretches of being 'solid' and at times 'good'. Sometimes really good. Then they do something stupid like hire Vince Russo, have Kurt Angle beat a red-hot Samoa Joe in their first feud, start a new 'Monday Night War' with an Eric Bischoff acoustic performance, or have Dixie Carter be your top heel.

    If it was just a few black olives it would be one thing. Instead they put a few black olives in the salad bar, and when people say 'they don't like black olives' they respond by replacing the lettuce and tomatoes in the salad bar with more black olives.

    The Stop & Start Disco pushes were insane in this era. He would be jobbing week after week, and then all of a sudden pick up a big win and be in the hunt for a Title. It was like how WWE pushes everybody NOWADAYS. Hell, one week he even beat WRATH.

    I remember the Booker/Benoit matches being SO good at the time- sure they wrestled every week (usually twice), but they often switched up the spots and changed when they did certain things, and reversed each other's stuff. We got a new way to win nearly every match, too- it kept you guessing in the ring, and helped make Booker the superstar he ended up being.

    I was just making a corny joke. . I do know all about them and their issues over the years. There's a really good interview on youtube where Rakim breaks down their business relationship and how they got together. I'm way too lazy to find it right now though..
