Someone else said that ROH should bring in Styles and have him put over Cole. Good idea.

Also, LOLTNA. This is like if that Brock/Goldberg match from WMXX was for the title. Just... how do you even do stupid shit like that and stay alive this long?

  2. Wake me up when they bring back Gabe Sapolsky.

    ReplyDelete
  3. If this is true, TNA is so fucking dumb. It highlights the core problem with TNA though. Instead of being innovative and trying to differentiate itself from WWE, they insist on emulating them. The problem is they don't do not as well and don't have the stars to do it, hence it's a lose lose and moody cares.

I'm convinced they were so excited about trying to one up amd emulate CM Punk 2011 they didn't think it all the way through and just shot their load without thinking about the possible repercussions. It's what they get.

    ReplyDelete
  4. For the record, I still call work on all of this.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I bet he appears at Genesis with Jarrett and Hardy.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Bynum already showed that he was an idiot with the Lakers. And then he never bothered to even attempt to suit up for the Sixers. As horrible as Cleveland's owner is, I gotta side with him on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This show is going to be awesome no matter what happens. I've been gung-ho for this all year long. Silva is my guy, but I'm totally prepared for him to get beaten again. I don't think it will happen, but what the hell do I know.

Tate-Rousey is another gem. The funny thing is I think both girls have acted like brats in the past, but Rousey moreso than Tate recently if TUF is any indication. Then again, that is a reality show, so there is no telling how much of it is real or manipulated.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The brand split is dead. Let it stay dead.

    ReplyDelete
  9. From a match quality, yeah. From a buyrate quality, no. Those two don't sell PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd say they did, given Austin losing period was meant to be a 'this guy is going to the top' concept. Yeah it wasn't clean, but the intent was to make Jericho a bigger star so it'd mean more when HHH beat him.

Needless to say, it didn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Serious question...say if AJ just doesn't come back, would it really matter all that much? He was one of their better performers but it's not like he was drawing money or anything. It's not like the Monday night wars where he's gonna show up on national tv on a competitors tv with the belt. Even if he shows up in ROH or the indys and shits on the belt, their viewing audience is so small what damage would it do?

    ReplyDelete
  12. CM Punk convinced people he could break the streak. Now yes, CM Punk is a great wrestler, but if someone of his size could convince people he'd break the streak after a terrible month of booking then I think Brock, being a friggin' tank who's undefeated against The Undertaker, could do it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I feel that it's unlikely that Brock will go over given his status as a part timer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:07 PM

Unlikely? No way in hell is Brock going over in that match.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Bynums a jack ass but I agree. They only signed him bc they thought they could make a playoff push. Now that they see they're far away, they're gonna try and recoup that money and save on the tax. The new CBA is tougher on luxury teams so it's not gonna be the nonchalant thing it's been the past 10 years.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That's what I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  17. He played every game this season for Cleveland. Yup he's not what he was but he's getting 20 minutes a game. The cavs suck and the problems in that locker room supposedly start with waiters and Irving hating each other. The fact is that they have more to lose if bynum gets better since they blew the last draft. Gilbert is saving six million and tanking but by floating this bull shit story he can also look like a hero by not taking any guff from a "black diva player" and honesty its working since every comment I've seen on all the sports stories about is fans tripping over each other to trash bynum. Gilbert showed his true colors when lebron left and he cockblocked the Lakers trade. I don't know if kyrie will sigb a 4 year extension to get paid sooner but the first chance he gets he's leaving that team and any free agent they get ever will be some dude with no other options to get paid and after this bynum thing that's even less likely.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:11 PM

Random thought: can you fucking believe that the Raptors are leading their division. As in the team that plays in Toronto. And they're 12-15! Jesus...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:12 PM

Oh, I know, I just wanted to express how fucking stupid I think doing Brock/Taker at WM is.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Fucking mind blowing isn't it? One of those teams is gonna host a playoff series. It's fascinating because all those teams except the knicks amd nets should want to tank.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:14 PM

Did he actually say "black diva player"?

    ReplyDelete
  22. They'll make up some bullshit reason. These guys are all mostly entitled pricks (I have no problem with that) so they'll exaggerate some transgression and people will just shit on bynum because he has bad knees and once went to the world cup after playing an NBA finals and winning a championship on a bad knee that had to be drained twice during the Boston series, and instead of immediately having surgery he went to the world cup and he once elbowed JJ barea instead of wondering why a supposed pro team released a 7 footer playing 20 minutes a game for negative behavior wgwb they have two guards that hate each other anyway

    ReplyDelete
  23. Didn't Cena headline the biggest PPV of all time 2 years ago, and break 1,000,000 buys again the next year?

    ReplyDelete
  24. He played the entire 2010 playoffs on a bad knee after he was told he could shut it down. I'd say that shows he has a concept of team.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:20 PM

It reminds me of that one year when the Arizona Cardinals won their division with a 7-9 record. Only I don't see the Raptors making the NBA Finals.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Stagnant boring guy in ROH? Stop the presses!

    ReplyDelete
  27. No. I was just pointing out I feel that these kind of leaked stories from management have lots of subtle racial undertones when they want to play the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  28. From what I remembered, people didn't like the Sin Cara match.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah I agree it could wait a year, I just hope they run it while both are still in their primes.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yea. It's gonna be one of those ambiguous conduct detrimental things where "exhibited bad behavior" or some shit like that. The union will get involved and Gilbert may still have to pay him.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:24 PM

Oh, OK. I was just thinking "In 2013? Really?"

Though Gilbert does seem like an ass. No wonder LeBron wanted to get the hell out of there.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm really not understanding the recent surge in hate and/or indifference for Undertaker. The guy's had the best match on the show at Wrestlemania for seven years straight and is going against one of the two guys left in the company that people can buy as a credible opponent in Brock Lesnar. I'm really not seeing the downside at all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Against the Rock? Yes he did.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Because 1) Cena/UT is the obvious match moat people want and 2) people are skeptical about Brock and Taker being able to put on a good match

    ReplyDelete
  35. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:26 PM

He definitely didn't have the best match at WM28.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Then doesn't that kind of defeat the "Cena doesn't draw on PPV" theory?

    ReplyDelete
  37. A+ post. Fascinating analysis

    ReplyDelete
  38. I may have read it wrong but I saw "those two don't sell PPVs" as in "against each other". It would be more fair to just say that Punk doesn't sell PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You're thinking Punk/Jericho? I can see it but respectfully disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Didn't he lose the strap back to that roided up British dude anyway? Who cares, AJ Styles drew about as much money as Jeff Jarrett did...nothing!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You mean Seattle... those damn Seahawks.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Didn't they win a playoff game that year? Remember losing some money on that iirc

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah. One guess who they beat.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I didn't take it that way, but I can see how perhaps it was intended that way.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Was either brees or the bucs, can't remember. Brees I think

    ReplyDelete
  46. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:33 PM

The UT/HHH HITC match is one of those you either really love it or really hate it matches, and I'm firmly in the camp that hates it. It was really Shawn's performance that ruined it for me, had they just done it with a regular ref I probably would agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You really need elaboration on that? He means that being a real life asshole makes it easier to play one on TV... Bischoff is my favorite example of this.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Awesome! Final Battle was a great show which showed that ROH is going to be able to run with a new class of stars after the last of the last crop (Eddie and Davey) have left. With guys like Elgin, Cole, and Ciampa firmly established now, it's going to be fun to see new match-ups against "legends" like Styles and Hero. The last couple of years have been riddled with questionable booking decisions and underwhelming angles (looking at you S.C.U.M), but I'm really optimistic about ROH in 2014.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:35 PM

I'm pretty sure they lost the Super Bowl that year, and just barely lost. I might be wrong about that though.

  51. No, the 7-9 Seahawks lost 35-24 to Chicago in the Divisional Round.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dude I got it. It was obvious from the obligingly comment

    ReplyDelete
  53. Styles was stripped, Magnus won a tournament to crown a new champ.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm astounded on the questions about a good match because while we can debate the booking of Lesnar since his return, his in-ring work has been outstanding, much as it was before he left. Undertaker has had, arguably, the best match on the card for the last several years and I honestly believe this match will be no different unless they book something like Bryan/Punk.

In regards to Cena/Taker, yes, it's a dream match that will draw a lot of money but I honestly believe it has to be the match that Taker goes out on. Short of another star breaking out to white hot levels, there is no one left after Lesnar and Cena. So save it for another year and draw all the monies and meanwhile have a great match with Brock/Taker.

    ReplyDelete
  55. You're taking a chance that Taker will still be able to go... I don't want to see a completely broken down Taker stumblefuck through a match vs. Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I didn't care for his overselling towards the match, especially his bouncing around to cry in a corner, but to me that was part of the agreed-upon terms in a HHH match. Things have to be done to sell the drama and importance and it gets quite over the top with that.

You have to have Shawn in that match, though, because the superkick spot is the only time since "The Streak" became a big deal that I thought it might be over, even if just for a split second.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Brocks great matches since his return was vs Punk and Cena. Punk bumped around like a mad man and Cena just let him be at the hell outta him.

UT has worked with Punk, had 2 brawls with HHH, amd Michaels the past 5 years. I think it's fair to ask how good a worker Taker is at this point. If they do go Taker/Brock I hope they just go violent over the top brawl, if they don't there's a risk of a slow plodding match like the HHH/Brock matches

    ReplyDelete
  58. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:44 PM

The superkick in to the Pedigree spot? Yeah, I'll grant that point, I watched it live and was just SHOCKED that he kicked out of it. It was Shawn crying the whole time that pissed me off.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's hard to imagine a scenario where he breaks down working one match a year but obviously real life happens so who knows. A large part of his matches and the Streak itself is his aura and overness so I think there would be a lot left still even if he rapidly aged in his movements. Rock/Hogan wasn't a great technical match but even most jaded of smarks were invested there.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I liked it, but i hate dialog in wrestling matches.

    "QUIT HUNTER! QUIT!"

    "NO SHAWN I WON'T!"

    *pukes*

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's funny bc i love it for all the opposite reasons. Think Shawns involvement really added something to the story and psychology of the match. Without the added eelement of Shawn, I think I would have been a little bored with it

    ReplyDelete
  62. I personally just assume that they'll have a very violent brawl because it makes the most sense character and story-wise. I think HHH has slow, plodding matches with everyone these days (his match with Taker at 27 was the best of the show by default, sadly) so that won't be a factor.

Also keep in mind that despite it being several years ago now, Undertaker and Batista had a match that stole the show so it's not like he's unable to work with a physical big man.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Blame "I love you, I'm sorry"

    ReplyDelete
  64. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:52 PM

One other thing I hated about it was that it was a HITC match, yet the cage was never a factor in the match. I mean, you could have done the exact same match without the Cell, almost spot for spot.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Threadjack

    Who's gonna win,Silva or Weidman.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Much like indie music, sometimes making money isn't the best describer of talent or worthwhileness. I dig me some AJ styles, but much like my penis, understand he's an acquired taste and doesn't have that 'wow' factor that would make the masses pay to see him.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 4:54 PM

I would consider the Taker match from this year a brawl too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Obviously we're having a discussion to the contrary above but I wanted to chime in here and say that when they do Cena/Taker, you're absolutely spot on with the idea of "Cena turns!" scenarios heating up the smarts and maybe turning in a bigger buyrate. WWE unfortunately has a tendency to overdo it when it comes to foreshadowing but they'd be crazy not to tease a Cena heel turn just to draw more people in.

    ReplyDelete
  69. If you're talking about taking someone down and then not doing anything on top other than some weak sub attempts, then yes she dominated.

    ReplyDelete
  70. That's a match that's great the first time you see it, then kinda a bummer each subsequent rewatch.

    ReplyDelete
  71. That's fine, it's subjective. I was commenting more on the "if AJ leaves with the title it'll really hurt TNA" narrative that some fans have.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He convinced people he could beat the streak? I dunno about that.

    ReplyDelete
  73. For sure. I just wanted to make the 'my penis is an acquired taste' joke.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Im a ufc casual. Is this undercard any good? I've never heard of any of the guys and is the women's match going to be good or is this just freak show shit? Im trying to decide if I should buy it or just stream the main event.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Styles also drew as much money for TNA as Hogan did. Wanna insult Hogan's "drawing power" also?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yea, that was weird to me also. I think it was just a gimmick to help sell the rematch.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well done then. We'll done

    ReplyDelete
  78. This is 100% true. I didn't care for hhh vs undertaker part 1 but I don't even know off the top of my head what the best match was at wm27, and I'll admit the rematch was great. I have no doubt that he and lesnar will have a **** match and I expect it to be much closer to the Brock cena match than the Brock vs hhh matches. I think most of the negative attitude toward it is because people think cena has a chance to go over, but I don't see it.

    ReplyDelete
  79. UT will let Brock beat the fuck out of him. Undertaker isn't hhh, he knows who is he is and how to have a good match.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryDecember 28, 2013 at 5:12 PM

That's exactly what it was, and why it pissed me off when they didn't deliver.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yea, this kind of stuff comes off corny sonetimes. I wish they let heels talk massive amounts of shit during ppv matches tho.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Women's fight is going to be pretty good.. Tate is a good fighter, definitely top 5 at the weight class and Ronda hates her something fierce. It should be entertaining even if Ronda is almost certainly going to win.

Barnett/Browne should be decent. And even if it's not Barnett's post fight promo should be hilarious.

Miller/Camoes should be a decent scrap even if it'll be meaningless in the long run.

The card is a 2-2.5 fight card but the top 2 are going to deliver no matter what and the main event will be historic no matter who wins. I'm buying, they earned my money.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Alright so here's the wild and wacky news floating around the internet. Fedor has been spotted in Vegas. There are photos of him at the airport. Brock has been spotted in Vegas and is confirmed to be in the arena. Fedor's facebook was just updated with nothing but a smiley face. This...this might happen.

if the UFC announces this during the PPV...oh god.

  84. Mr. Satan (Pat P. Pro)December 28, 2013 at 5:24 PM

This guy would know, he's related to him.

    ReplyDelete
  85. So basically the women's fight is a big deal legit? I really am excited for silva and I just flew cross country so I don't particularly feel like going to a sports bar so I guess I'll buy the show and check it out. After really thinking about it I am gonna buy the show.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Plus it will give me solid fodder to hit 10k on the live thread

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yeah as far as storyline wise this is the best women's fight that they can possibly put together (match quality wise, the best women's fight is Ronda vs. Cyborg or Ronda vs. Cat but this is right up there also). It's a big deal and Ronda always brings the goods in her fights.

    ReplyDelete
  88. If not for the Cell, somebody in the 28th row would have gotten hit by a sledge hammer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yea. As jobber pointed out if UT and Brock just beat the shit outta each other, kinda like their HIAC it'll be pretty good. I've been driving the Cena/Taker bandwagon forever so anything other then that will disappoint me, hence my indifference towards Brock amd Taker

    ReplyDelete
  90. I can't wait for TNA's next main event angle to drag out for 9 months too long, only for the major players to have their contracts run out before there's any sort of payoff. This company seems to be great at that.

    ReplyDelete
  91. That might have been considered a mercy killing at that point. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Mr. Satan (Pat P. Pro)December 28, 2013 at 5:40 PM

I think it's to justify storylines such as "Vince vs. HHH for the company". In this scenario it has to be shades of grey because there's nobody to really get behind.

By the way, I have a feeling we may get Batista vs. HHH at WrestleMania again for this purpose.

    ReplyDelete
  93. 1999 was pretty good year in terms of workrate, but 2000, yeah, that's when you when to break out the caffeine and ritalin.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Here's my pov: If it is indeed another work from TNA, why??? What do they gain from continually trying to "work" their audience? They've done this with Anderson, D Von, Matt Morgan, etc. and it never leads to increased ratings, more interest in the promotion, anything. I don't get this company. Every time I've started to get into it, they manage to kill any goodwill...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Mr. Satan (Pat P. Pro)December 28, 2013 at 5:49 PM

If you can remember and find outstanding episodes of Raw and Smackdown from about 2002 onwards, I'd be all for it. You and the comments section would have an interesting perspective on them. There are archives of Scott recapping TV shows for whole years for reference, but I think the only trouble would be finding full episodes online.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Speaking for myself, I haven't cared about him in years. The streak angle is lazy storytelling. The match itself could be ****** but they haven't given me any reason to care - UT is never in peril.

    ReplyDelete
  98. But..we typically rate matches on a 5 star scale!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yea, I agree. It's kinda my whole take on worked shoots in general. Sure, you're throwing the hard core insiders a bone but most of the time it's not relevant enough to appeal to the casual audience or the general public because it's to insider for their interest.

The only worked shoot that I can really think of selling was the pipe bomb.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Nope! His contract is for X number of televised appearances, which include any time he showed up on RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I was agreeing with you. I'm saying if I were Brock I'd be for the highest bidder. If Vince wanted to pay me X times infinity to do jobs then count me down.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Nothing worse then an awful "B" show....I remember watching this angle & struggled to watch. But if you're the Dubbya I guess you almost can't say no to the publicity & advertising. The Saturday night Road Wild's were also a serious drag. I mean, how much is a crowd of traveling bikers going to invest in the show? Awful, awful stuff. Wasn't always easy being a Hollywood Hogan mark.

    ReplyDelete
  103. exactly. Wrestling exists in its own universe with its own rules. If it were like real life then anything goes matches would end in gunshots and stab wounds.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Chris Leben. Ready for the morgue.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Isn't a core aspect of professional wrestling working the audience? It's a little different now that we know about it, but it's STILL pro wrestling, which means it's all still a long con. I'm fine with being worked. It means they're still putting effort into the artifice.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Its been done already. I think it would be a waste of Brock, as we all know UT isnt jobbing so why not put Brock elsewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Whispers are he's trying to engineer a trade to MIA or LAC. CLE trying to trade him; the suspension angle seems legit because they're ruining his trade value with this.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yeah, but Bynum's known for being an immature dick and had problems with Mike Brown during his tenure with the Lakers, too.

    ReplyDelete
  112. NBA changed that. Team with top record regardless of seed hosts.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I respectfully disagree about Brock being a credible opponent. Nobody is going to buy Lesnar ending the Streak. His part-time status, prior defection, and the way he has been booked since returning all point to Brock having 0% chance of winning that match.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm with you. There is nothing intrinsically special about the Undertaker, other than the way he has been booked. The Streak sells, not the character himself, or else Vince would have Undertaker draw a huge gate at, say, SummerSlam, rather than just working Wrestlemania every year. He wasn't a draw until the Streak became a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Wow, I didn't even realize he had one. Good call. Orton totally should have been that guy in '06

    ReplyDelete
  116. Undertaker was never a draw in his prime, let alone now. The Streak draws. Dude always brings the goods for his one performance a year, but I just don't buy him as a legit draw (outside of his winning Streak at Wrestlemania)

    ReplyDelete
  117. I'm from the same town as Frankie and love him to death, but people's issue was that Penn really won that fight and they basically gave Frankie the win for moving around a lot... Frankie shocked everyone by dominating the second one, though. I do see what you are saying, though.

    ReplyDelete
  118. 2-1? Against Mir? They only fought twice...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Why would it do the UFC any good to start this rumor? It's not like the WWE where a rumor like that can get fans watching, hoping he'll make a surprise save or attack someone at the end of a show... he only draws if he's booked to fight. That's it.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I think he was talking HHH, not Mir...

    ReplyDelete
  121. As someone who supported TNA from the first weekly PPV until sometime last year, I have no faith in their stupidity any more, and pretty much wish they would just go away.

Part of me feels that this will lead to a working relationship with ROH (which is good), which will lead to an ROH "invasion" of TNA. But, seriously, how many invasions/power stables has TNA had in the past few years? I can think of at least 3 since 2008 -- Main Event Mafia, Immortal, and Aces and Eights (and I'm sure one or two more I'm missing).... another would be idiotic given how all 3 of those bombed over time (the MEM and A&8 both showed early promise -- Immortal sucked all over).

Plus, if they DO have ROH "invade", what would the storyline be? Conquering heroes with help from a bunch of ROH wrestlers coming back to take the Fed back from Dixie? Great in concept, but there would need to be enough heels in TNA to make it work, and, by necessity, the remaining TNA faces would have to be REALLY weak -- unable to take the fed back themselves.

I would love if they could come up with something creative/interesting here, but I have less than zero faith in them any more.

  122. The only way I see this working (if it's an angle) is to have a few things happen:

    1) Dixie gathers a core group of douchebag heels to her cause -- Magnus/Spud/Ion/EC3, add Daniels, Kazarian, Sabin, Roode, Gail Kim, and Aries. They don't have to be a real stable -- just a loose group of groups that wants money/fame/power, and are willing to do what she says.
Have a group of faces that stay and actively fight against her: Joe, Angle, Bully Ray, Storm, and (ugh) Garrett Bischoff (hate the idea, but from a storyline perspective, he makes sense -- plus, they need a jobber). Others, such as Abyss, Anderson, Bro Mans, etc, just want to "stay out of it and keep their jobs". The important thing is that Dixie's group needs to far outnumber the TNA faces.

    2) AJ, Hardy, and Jarrett show up with a group from ROH, who help the TNA faces beat up on Dixie's group, but the TNA faces want nothing to do with them ("Where the hell were you all this time while all this was going down? Waiting to make a damn entrance?")
In a dream world, this ROH group would consist of Elgin, Steen, the Briscoes, Cole, Homicide, Lethal, MsChif, and ACH

    3) The TNA-ROH group tear up Dixie's group for a bit, with the TNA Faces facing both sides routinely, culminating in a multi-man match where the ROH wrestlers get short-term contracts to wrestle in TNA. (During this time, they'll show packages of clips from ROH, showing some of the matches these people have had there, to hopefully get the fans excited).

    4) Now that they're technically employees, Dixie orchestrates a match where AJ has to face Bully Ray and Steen (or Cole) in a qualifying match, the winner of which gets the shot at Magnus. Steen (or Cole) wins, and wins the title at a later date.

    5) See fans cheer. See ROH turn. All, except for maybe Elgin and ACH, turn on the TNA-ROH group (both Lethal and Homicide have good reason for this). Dixie's group comes out and cheers them on, only to have their group beaten down as well. The original TNA Faces (Angle, etc) come out and look on, only to walk to the back.

    6) This will end up with 4 smaller stables (Dixie's group, the original TNA Faces, the now smaller TNA-ROH group, and the ROH group), with all sorts of fresh matchups because of it. Aries, Daniels, and Kazarian could theoretically leave Dixie's group while in possession of the X-Division and tag belts to join ROH (since they seem slimy enough to abandon ship for the greener grass, plus, Aries has a lot of history there).

    7) Eventually, this all comes down to AJ asking the TNA Faces for forgiveness and help, and, eventually, to Dixie begging AJ for help with ROH while her group crumbles around her (with all sorts of stipulations thrown in). Then, AJ wins the belt, and ROH goes back home, theoretically with more exposure (during this angle, the "TNA Saviours" in ROH would likely be heels while helping TNA, then transition to faces while screwing them -- it would be the whole "Bret Hart is a face in Canada" thing).

Of course this isn't perfect, and I doubt TNA will do anything with this many steps to it, but at least it's reasonably coherent, and could support a year of programming without getting stale (and each group would look reasonably powerful, as opposed to the Aces and 8's mess).

  123. I'm fine with worked shoots in theory (like Punks pipebomb) but TNA seems more interested in working their own wrestlers like WCW would do. I see nothing gained from doing that except alienating your employees. And how many times did we see WCW do this and the audience sit on their hands and have no clue what was going on. I just have no faith in TNA at this point.

  124. Planet Jarrett, S.E.X, The Band and the Kings of Wrestling (Jarrett, Hall and Nash dressed like Elvis) for a few more "Taking over" Heel stables.

  125. Sold out Wembley arena cheering him every year, still capable of putting on the best matches on the card the only thing about TNA that anyone bothers to talk about? I think AJ Still has more worth then you give him credit for. His departure (Kayfabe or not) is still getting more interest then anything Sting, Hardy, Angle or anyone else has been able to generate in a good long time.

  126. The way they can get away with Hunico being Sin Cara now: Similar to the Rey Mysterio "his WWE mask isn't "exactly" the same as his WCW mask" clause- "Hunico"'s mask was slightly different than Sin Cara Azul's match (the biggest difference: Hunico's mask had a cross at the back of it, Sin Cara's had a Lesnar-like pattern on the back of it.) Hence, as long as Hun Cara doesn't put a cross on the back of his mask, it fits that rule (if not the seven-year rule.)
