BoD Daily Update

Batista Returning to the WWE?

There have been internet and radio adds for the 2/16 WWE House Show in Las Vegas that promote the appearance of Batista. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com spoke with sources in the WWE that confirmed he was expected back and that the adds were released prematurely.

Original Finish to the TLC Unification Match Switched?

The original house show lineups post-TLC featured Cena vs. Orton wrestling in unification matches, meaning the PPV match would have had a screw-job finish. Apparently, all sides realized that another PPV ending like that would be a good idea.

Reason For Natalya's Drunk Text Messaging Storyline From "Total Diva's?"

The story of Natalya sending messages to Stephanie McMahon while intoxicated was not legit but it was based off of a real-life incident. Apparently, this was based off of a male wrestler who either send messages by text or phone to Vince McMahon, essentially expressing that he was frustrated and deserved a better position on the card. It is not believed that the incident led to the male performer being buried or anything but he was spoken to and has not behaved like that since. Although the name of the performer was not revealed, Dave Meltzer said that it was not Dolph Ziggler

Richie Steamboat Released

Steamboat was released a few months back. He has not wrestled in well over a year due to a back injury.

  1. "It is not believed that the incident led to the male performer being buried."

    It was too late anyway.

  2. 1. I'll reserve judgement until I see Big Dave back and if he is back for an extended time or a short while.
    2. Well at least that got that right. Although the fact that they even thought about a screwjob is pretty bad.
    3. Wait!? Reality TV is scripted and not everything I see is real!?! I AM SHOCKED!
    4. Like father like son. Except Ricky at his age is still a better wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Whoopie! More part-timers over 40!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'd welcome a Batista return though. It's been 4 years and having one last run with him is a good idea.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yeah, Zack's name did come to mind when I read that.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Bring back Ahmed Johnson!

Dave Batista vs. Brock Lesnar, BOOK DAT SHIT

    ReplyDelete
  10. I seriously doubt it was Yoshi Tatsu.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, that would be something I would like to see.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 'I love this business less!'
'No, I love this business less!'

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'd love to know who the drunk texter was. I'm gonna say Dolph.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, it did say that it wasn't Dolph.
    Maybe Wade Barrett?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Brock has no passion for the business. Batista left because he thought the family friendly stuff was lame and had money making opportunities elsewhere. I wouldn't say Batista doesn't care about the business.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ah, didn't see that part. See Barrett to me seems like to much of a hard ass to resort to drunk texting his issues...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe, but he did get popped for a DUI while in developmental

    ReplyDelete
  18. Who the hell drunk texts anything besides "are you still awake" or "wanna come over late night"?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ah, didn't know that. I'll bet Barrett, ryder, or brodus then

    ReplyDelete
  20. Correction, he was arrested for striking an officer. Not a DUI.

    http://www.letstalkwrestling.com/2008/06/wwe-developmental-talent-arrested-in.html

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow. Been to that bar, it's right in the middle of Tampa. Stu Sanders is a TERRIBLE name. Seems like Barrett got a raw deal on that if the original lady didn't press charges

    ReplyDelete
  22. WWE: We even ruin all good surprises.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Brock proved to the world that he was a legit fighter and not something that he just plays on TV, wouldn't you lose a bit of your passion to if that happened to you?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Brock didn't have any passion for the business to begin with, even pre-UFC. It just came easily to him because he's a freak of nature.

    ReplyDelete
  25. HHH/Vince: "Ahmed, we want you to keep doing your finisher to Bryan until he gives up. Or starts spitting up blood."

Ahmed: "EAT A REEF! WONTON AND BEEF STEW!

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Vince, I'm really frustrated. I think I need your help in getting a better position. A good, firm, hard push behind me. If you know what I am saying".

That's what I imagine the drunk texts to Vince McMahon would looked like, with the innuendo going completely over his head.

And, in this scenario I've made up, the person in question was told to stop because they have a real fear that Vince will discover that he's a homosexual. Being enlightened so, he might begin firing anyone who would rather cater to him as opposed to be straightforward and honest with him.

Taking this completely imaginary scenario into account, I would have to assume that's where the "Bad News" Barrett character came from and that Barrett is the text offender.

(I wrote all of this just to say "Text Offender" and then the preceding just so I could say it twice.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can you imagine if texting as around during Bret's day? Vince's inbox would be filled with stuff like "just talked to Virgil, he said I carried him to best match of career & I deserve to be WWF Champion", or "got a bigger pop than Shawn tonight, just saying" or "just had sex with waitress that said I was her favourite wrestler don't tell anyone about the sex part".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Considering Brock's first post-WWE attempt was a tryout with the Minnesota Vikings... yeah, I can agree with that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Would Batista only be doing a short program until WM or like a 6 mother like Jericho return 2 years ago? Guess it hasn't been disclosed?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Batista: Yay? Boo? Meh? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ov_W7mT84K8/UB8SUgESzAI/AAAAAAAABNM/QAgFNGm5DDA/s1600/I+don't+know.jpg
TLC: WWE: We Will Exchange plans at a whim. Except for bad ones, those go to the front of the line.
Natalya: Me no care, me no comment.
Richie: Another example of the father's shoes just being too damn big for the son.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Batista doing 6 mothers... yeah, I could picture that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Batista is............ THE MILF HUNTER

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh god... wrestlers in porn movies. The titles we could come up with...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lol. Awesome typo, definitely keeping bit in there

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know the typical smart fan voice is they hate the part timers coming in for WM but FUCK if WM has Goldberg, HBK, Batista, working matches, along with a Hogan nostalgia spot...it would be fucking awesome

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ahmed and Shannon Sharpe should form a tag-team and constantly cut promos. Imagine the comedy gold that would produce

    ReplyDelete
  37. "Summer Slam my ass"

    ReplyDelete
  38. Only if they wear those Bronco heads.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can't believe they had the fucking balls to even consider running another screw job finish. Wow. They are hell bent on submarining this company. If this wwe network is big failure (and really why wouldn't it be) look out.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Maybe hhh was the one who drunk texted Vince. "No one cheered me after the lesnar job. I need to leech punk and Bryan's heat asap. If you love you're grandkids you'll make me the focus of the show"

    ReplyDelete
  41. HHH has a rep of never drinking or drugging though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm guessing if that was the plan, the unification match would have happened at the Royal Rumble.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Them not having a new unified belt ready was a dead give away they hot shotted the whole idea or had a screwjob finish planned

    ReplyDelete
  44. They need to be really careful about constantly trolling/pissing on their audience. If the they kept losing viewers for two or 3 more years like they have been the McMahon family will eventually feel the squeeze.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love how ready they are to throw out the ppv model despite that being the money maker for most of the talent. I'm sure any network revenue or new TV deal money will go anywhere except to Cody Rhodes/the shield/punk/cena etc. These guys already make so little as compared to any other entertainer. Its embarrassing how Vince can just treat then like circus animals and toss them like garbage when he's done. At least the NFL guys get medical, a pension, and a mid six figure salary.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, I think they have started to realized that they have been pissing off the PPV buyers recently

    ReplyDelete
  47. Man, I forget who did the piece, wanna say wall street journal but coukd be wrong, but a few years ago some dude wrote an article on how much the wrestlers make collectively vs sports leagues with unions. CBAs get athletes 47-51 % with medical insurance etc. This dude claims that with merchandise, the wwe guys collectively take home 22% of all revenue. Always founf that interesting.

not sure if you can compare the wwe business model to pro sports in this case tho

    ReplyDelete
  48. Too bad Ludvig Borga wasnt still around. Imagine those three trying to pronounce his name?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Then why did he even join this crazy sport (entertainment)?

    ReplyDelete
  50. WM10: "Has anyone else ever wrestled 2 5-star matches in one night?!"

May 1995: "Soooo how's the Diesel reign goin?"

IYH 1: "Has anyone else ever wrestled 2 5-star matches in one night?!"

WM12: "You won't believe what Shawn just said..."

January 1997: "You won't believe what Shawn just said..."

March 1997: "You won't believe what Shawn just said..."

June 1997: "You won't believe what Shawn just said..."

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think the PPV carriers offering refunds was what really hit home. They don't care about pissing off the fanbase, but when the PPV carriers give people their money back, that hurts business relationships.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Because it came easy to him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If Batista's "imminent" return leads to Randy Orton being jettisoned from the Authority's Alpha Bitch mantle and Hollywood Dave gets inserted instead, ANGLE SAVED.

    ReplyDelete
  54. True. Once the public voices outrage, they do not want to deal with the bad press.

    ReplyDelete
  55. He was offered a lot of money to do it. I remember reading in his book that he paid off all his students loans and bought a motorcycle or something when he signed. He even admitted he was never into wrestling and just considered it a lucrative financial opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Id support this. I wouldnt even mind an Orton/Batista feud

    ReplyDelete
  57. Brodus Clay was another one I considered, but yeah, Zack seems more plausible.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I FORGOT TO TAKE MY MEDICATION, MORTY. AND I'M IN A REEEEAL BAD MOON.

    ReplyDelete
  59. it is the funnest of your typos.

    ReplyDelete
  60. One night in Chyna!

    ReplyDelete
  61. That one actually wasnt me...just cut and pasted that email into blogger

    ReplyDelete
  62. I can't believe they repeated a spot. 3 1/2 moneyshots.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Missionary would be the equivalent of a rest hold

    ReplyDelete
  64. "TLC: Titties, Labias, and clits"
Main event is the "Snatch on a Pole" match

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think part-time is the way to go myself. Undertaker wrestles once a year so it's an event. Lesnar coming back is... well, almost an event. The less people appear, the more their appearances mean.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Randy Orton....the Missionary Predator!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Gotta imagine it depends where Marvel's going with Avengers 2. If they tie in Guardians, no way he's available/allowed for a 6 month run. ....this would never happen because they envision a series of movies but I'd love to see them kill all the guardians of the galaxy in their movie to set Thanos up as the ultimate evil for Avengers 3.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This wont be topped for awhile for me, you just know Bret would be exactly like this...

    ReplyDelete
  69. They want GOTG as their 'cosmic' team, so I doubt they die. I'd wager we get a sequel every few years.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Im pretty sure the person texting Vince was Khali....

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree. Had a whole long discussion on it yesterday so don't really feel like getting into it but until they change their 50/50 booking philosophy nome of their regulars besides Cena and maybe Punk are over enough to draw 1 million for WM. This is the best way they can sell it and it's been successful....the streak, pulling Rock out of their asses for 3 years, trump, hbk apparently coming in, etc.

Doing all this shit makes it feel like the biggest show, protects the away brand, and allows them to sell 750 k just on that alone. Obviously if you have a huge main event you go over 1-1.2

    ReplyDelete
  72. Bring him back and have him work his body with strings and shit "Weekend at Ludvig's!"

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oh man, I'm thinking they really should use Batista at Mania to put over an up and coming new star. Maybe John Cena or HHH or this Undertaker fellow? (Perhaps Taker could go over Batista and Lesnar in a 2 on 1 elimination match. That'd be cool.)

    ReplyDelete
  74. He had Hornswoggle do it for him with the threat of a beating if he didnt.....

    ReplyDelete
  75. But does he know how to download the wwe app?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Knew that was coming

    ReplyDelete
  77. lol at the idea that zach ryder actually has vince's private number

    ReplyDelete
  78. Lol.

Zach: "can I call you Mr McMahon to bounce some ideas off you?"

Vince: "Ummm sure, my number is 555-1212"

    ::Vince scurries away hastily::

    ReplyDelete
  79. pretty obvious that the drunk texter was orton

    ReplyDelete
  80. The total divas thing is doubly disappointing. A) It means Natty is not as easy as that segment would have led me to believe B) I am disappointed she would agree to make a fool out of herself like that... I know farts...

    ReplyDelete
  81. 'I know farts...'

    punctuation is your friend, lol

    but your way is better

    ReplyDelete
  82. Complete tangent topic but I always thought they should make an app that allows you to prevent drunk texting amd dialing. Like before you start drinking have a predetermined list of people you can call or text, then start the app once you start drinking and it only let's you call those people if you're over a certain BAC. They're incorporating breathlyzers into phones now...I'd buy the shit outta that app

    ReplyDelete
  83. remember how garth scurries away from the camera in the 1st wayne's world (at the doughnut shop)? i'd like to think vince scurried away like that

    ReplyDelete
  84. A movie came out this year that had something like that in it. The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson where they become interns at Google. Their team had to create an app and that was their idea except instead of testing their BAC, it required them to answer a moderately difficult math problem.

  85. ARRRRGH THE BARBARIANDecember 21, 2013 at 10:56 AM

If you believe the newz with the drunk tester, whoever it was, they were given to Punk afterwards to straighten them out. so they stopped being a drunk, but turned into a fabulous manwhore

    ReplyDelete
  86. Batista/Brock is going to be fucking awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Used correctly, the part timers could actually really help the new guys.

Since if you leave for six months you get a huge pop when you get back anyway, nobody will remember you lost, really. Since it was six months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  88. In a couple years, Vince will hear a brand-new hit song called "867-5309" and have a new fake number to give out to people.

    ReplyDelete
  89. That post was originally concluded differently but I rewrote/added some stuff... guess I didn't edit very carefully

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh, I know. Understand it. Hope their strategy pays off because I've enjoyed everything they've done so far. On the other hand, if they had built up Avengers 3 as the end of this cycle then either do a hard reboot or start up some multiverse type angle to story their way around changing lead actors, having Thanos as a killing machine that killed the crew of Guardians could have been an interesting take.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Having a roster of part-timers is actually I pretty good idea, IMO. Special attractions for a couple of matches on WM and SS to make the shows feel all the more 'special'. Put over the top-line full-timers (Rock-Hogan WM18 if Rock hadn't become mega movie star) or have little 'dream matches' (e.g. Batista-Lesnar, Rock-UT)

It'll be a great way to extend the careers of Punk, Cena and a couple of others when they finally want to enter semi-retirement by a few years without them becoming broken down like Piper, Savage and others became because they were still doing a couple of matches a month in WCW in the late 90s

    ReplyDelete
  92. Best Mania ever

    ReplyDelete
  93. How do I download the WWE App?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Even though he admits on his dvd he would have the occasional beer with THE KLIQ.

    SHOCKING NEWS.

    ReplyDelete
  95. How would they book a screw job ending for that match is the better question.

Have Hornswoggle run up the ladder and run away with both belts?

NEW CHAMPION NEW CHAMPIONS NEW CHAMPION

    ReplyDelete
  96. Cause RIchie could prevent his own back injury?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Each comes down with the other's belt... what a lot of us considered one of two "favorites" in the prediction pool.

The other favorite was "HHH runs in and takes both belts, because HHH HAHAHAHAHA."

    ReplyDelete
  98. No, because unless he main-evented Wrestlemania, he'd never be seen as "good enough" compared to Daddy.

    ReplyDelete
  99. WAIT. Total Divas isn't 100% real? What does that say about WWE?

    ReplyDelete
  100. ARRRRGH THE BARBARIANDecember 21, 2013 at 12:43 PM

Ain't happening, but if Orton won his match at the Rumble and they did the thumbs up/thumbs down thing again at Raw, it would be pretty awesome. Although it would make Orton a Sting-level mongo to fall for that twice.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Did fans recently demand refunds? I wasn't aware.

    ReplyDelete
  102. "Sting - level mongo" has to be a permanent part of BoD vernacular.

    ReplyDelete
  103. They should just be a tag team called "Brocktista" and kill everything.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Drax is supposed to be created to kill thanos, so i could see him dying in the movie to make thanos seem bad ass

    ReplyDelete
  105. I remember reading that at least one carrier issued refunds after people complained that Battleground just farted out at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I drunk text my former friend I had a crush on, telling her how much I miss her, saying how I want us to make amends and fix our friendship.

She replied telling me that we can't be friends, she is really sad about what happened, but she won't change her mind and that I should erase her number and to forget about her.

    ReplyDelete
  107. That's a technical issue, not a booking issue.

    ReplyDelete
  108. So the drunk story is based off of Kurt Angle right?

I could have sworn one of the reasons leading to his release was because he kept calling Vince totally blitzed out of his mind.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Every BoD update should have an item that ends with "it wasn't Dolph Ziggler."

    ReplyDelete
  110. "...this made her look like a legitimate dumb drunk whore."

In other words, every female member of the Hart family not named Helen and Martha.

    ReplyDelete
  111. ...people demanded refunds after the bait and switch at Night of Champions.

    ReplyDelete
  112. That's a booking issue.

    ReplyDelete
  113. "Apparently, all sides realized that another PPV ending like that would be a good idea."

    Yeah, sounds about right....

    ReplyDelete
  114. I think you should keep calling her. I know she said she's not interested, but maybe if you keep explaining yourself over and over, she'll come to her senses. In fact, the more drunk you are during these conversations, the better.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Maybe Richie should have tried on shoes that fit.

    BADA CHING!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I hear sending fingernails or locks of your hair in these situations works well also.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Money.

As for why he cared enough to have awesome matches if he didn't care for wrestling? Brock seems to be very passionate about being the best at whatever he's doing, but wrestling was just another job for him to dominate

    ReplyDelete
  118. Pretty sure Feige has already said that they're just going the Bond-route and recasting the roles when necessary, but keeping the continuity chugging along. See: Rhodes, James. They were rumored to be willing to move on from Hemsworth earlier this year when negotiating Avengers 2.

    ReplyDelete
  119. There was no sweeter feeling than waking up after a night of getting black out drunk and seeing you didn't call or text anyone. It didn't happen often though.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I disagree, they wouldn't have just ditched the new WWE Championship belt after a few months, I figured they would just drop the World Heavyweight Championship if they really did unify.

    ReplyDelete
  121. When I say "farted out," I mean the non-ending to the show, not that the signal dropped.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hey, I didn't make that typo! :'(

    ReplyDelete
  123. Vince needs to leave Goldberg a voicemail:

"Hi Bill. Yeah, nevermind....we've got Dave Batista."
