According to Dave Scherer of PWInsider.com, the WWE is now considering Daniel Bryan facing both Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania for the Heavyweight Championship. This is reportedly the result of the overwhelming response for Bryan the past two shows and also partly due to fear that the crowd will hijack the show with Daniel Bryan chants. One big thing to note is that Batista was promised the Rumble and a main event match at WrestleMania when he re-signed with the company. There is also some speculation that Bryan winning the belt and being on RAW the day the network debuts would boost ratings.
JOY!
ReplyDeleteAbout.
ReplyDeleteGoddamn.
Time.
But the network launches next month! So he'd win the strap at Elimination Chamber and head into Mania as the champ?
ReplyDeleteOnly to put over Batista right?
Oh that HHH!
That's probably the best "having your cake and eating it to" scenario. Plus we might get Douchetista back as a bonus.
ReplyDeleteOh batista, I bet you didn't expect to walk into this
ReplyDeleteJust finished Raw on Hulu.... Orton is not a credible WrestleMania main eventer. Sorry. Get the belt on D-Bry at the Chamber, turn Batista heel (just kidding, that parts done), and make a billion dollars.
ReplyDeleteOrton can go do... whatever.
I still can't believe Bray Wyatt v. John Cena is going to be a WrestleMania main event.
I'd feel sorry for him if he didn't look like such a douche.
ReplyDeleteBryan taps out Orton, Batista gets a rematch the next month, Bryan taps him.
ReplyDeleteGive the fans what they want. Batista should be putting people over.
He didn't sign that big contract to put people over.
ReplyDeleteBig Dave takes title at EC over Bryan via shenanigans, Hollywood Dave goes on tear, loses to Bryan at WM. Get Orton the fuck out of the picture.
ReplyDeleteWell, he does have an official WWE title reign under his belt even if it only lasted 5 minutes. So if this scenario does happen I guess he'd be a 3 time champ?
ReplyDeleteThe first half of the story I read was putting the belt on Bryan at EC and then having him defend it at WM, which to me is silly. You don't pull the trigger on the big moment in front of 15K in Minnesota when you can do it in front of 80K in New Orleans at the biggest show of the year.
ReplyDeleteI'd still be shocked if this happened, but I think it's totally the way to go. I think the "he needs to win the belt at Mania" idea is false--- he just needs to WIN IT and defend for a few months to be cemented as a top guy, and the fans will be happy.
ReplyDeleteIt'd actually work amazingly well for storyline purposes, in that he'd go into Mania as the massive underdog facing BOTH of HHH's proteges. Plus him and Orton could easily keep up the workrate end of the triple threat, covering for Batista and allowing him to just do some impressive power spots.
AND they wouldn't even have to job Batista if they don't want to. Have Big Dave eat a running knee to the outside, Bryan catches Orton in a Yes lock, and BAM. The Mania crowd would go apeshit to close the show.
Plus it wouldn't disrupt the rest of the Mania card, other than taking away Sheamus' opponent, but the thing is... who gives half a fuck about Sheamus? Oh yeah, nobody.
Agree 10000000% on Orton. There is no fucking reason for him to be in the title picture.
ReplyDeleteEVER.
The next month they're in Seattle for Extreme Rules. I would have no problem switching the back to Daniel Bryan there if he lost it to Batista at Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteBut that would not give Vince his big "YES!" moment.
Frankly, if Punk is leaving in June, I have no problem with Daniel Bryan getting the big win over HHH at WreslteMania.
But this way you get two BIG MOMENTS. Bryan winning the title at EC will be huge because it's the title win that fans have been begging for, and then him successfully defending the title at Mania will be another big moment because it's WRESTLEMANIA, and it'd be against Batista (and Orton).
ReplyDeleteI think it's definitely the way to go. Put the belt on him at EC, make him look like a massive star, pop a huge rating the next night on Raw to launch the Network, and then cement Bryan as THE GUY by having him defend at Mania against the Evolution boys.
Plus I think Bryan holding the title makes him an easier sell on the Mania PR tour than Bryan once again challenging for the belt. It's something fans have never seen before.
What's going to happen with Lesnar then? Put him in the Chamber and have Undertaker come from underneath the ring like Michaels did, Tombstone him then the guys in the chamber can dogpile and pin him?
ReplyDeleteTough shit, where else is he going to go?
ReplyDeleteIf you want to make the guy as a permanent main eventer, you do it in the biggest way possible on the biggest stage possible. Having him fight off Hunter's Boys in Seattle in front of his hometown (of a sort) fans is a great cementer itself, eh?
ReplyDeleteDoes Bryan get credit for a title reign after Night of Champions? He'll actually be a four-time World Champion (two WWE, one World, one Unifed) if he wins the belt at the Chamber.
ReplyDeleteDouble pin in the Chamber, give Abeyance one more run.
ReplyDeleteThe Lesnar-Taker stuff is so bizarre because there's no logical start to their feud. I mean, in storyline Taker was last taken out by The Shield, which is something Cole has mentioned a ton of times over the year. What is Taker's storyline connection to Brock?
ReplyDeletePlus, does Lesnar job in a Chamber match and THEN challenge for The Streak? Seems like backwards booking to beat the monster a month before he challenges Taker.
The bad part about this: RANDY ORTON MIGHT BE CHAMPION GOING TO WRESTLEMANIA. Like seriously, get the belt off him ASAP and shuffle him down to the midcard. It's a black eye for the company to have a champion as unover and uninteresting as him.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Orton would detract from the match - we've seen Orton/Bryan enough times, we've seen Orton/Batista MORE than enough times, Bryan/Batista is a classic "David vs. Goliath" story... what exactly would Orton add to the match?
ReplyDeleteEspecially if Batista turned heel and was the new hand-picked Corporate Champ. Bryan overcoming the big, muscular, past-his-prime buddy of Trips? It's perfect.
You're goddamn right.
ReplyDeleteBut you know, HHH likes him, so...
I'm in the camp of those who'd love to see Brock-Bryan with Brock as champ. Give Big Dave his "main event" and put it first on the card.
ReplyDeleteThat I'm not sure of.
ReplyDeleteBrock Lesnar as hand-picked corporate champ would be MORE perfect, but, you know, The Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteI'll believe it when I see it but it's interesting that Bryan actually winning the title was never mentioned. If they put this proposed triple threat on last they could at least keep the backlash to a minimum.
ReplyDeleteYeah exactly. I'd rather just have Undertaker face the Shield in a handicap match.
ReplyDeleteSo...
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan vs Randy Orton vs Batista
And Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar seems like a lock.
That would really muddy the waters for Punk and Cena. I guess they could go through with Punk/Kane. Then Cena against....Sheamus!?
They need to get Orton out of that title match. He is just not on the level of the other guys.
ReplyDeleteWasn't HHH/Punk the rumoured match-up?
ReplyDeleteCena/Wyatt seems to be the WM match.
ReplyDeleteSheamus should job to Bad News Barrett in the pre-show.
Gotta be HHH/Punk in that scenario I'd say. Cena I have no idea...I can't believe they'd put Cena in a WM program with Bray
ReplyDeleteI don't believe they're going to do that if Punk isn't willing to stick around long-term (at least another year). If that's the case, Punk probably gets married to Kane for Mania, and HHH goes against... who? Cena?
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, at this point they just have to pull the trigger on Bryan asap. He can't keep getting screwed, fans are just gonna give up. So do you think they should screw him AGAIN at the Chamber? If so, how does he get a title shot at Mania?
ReplyDeleteAgain, him successfully defending the title at Mania would absolutely cement him as a top guy. The pop wouldn't be any less massive. Was it less of a big moment when Hogan beat Andre because he was defending the title rather than winning it?
Anyway, at this point the only way Bryan is getting into the title match at Mania is by winning the title at the chamber anyway, unless they do some screwy shit. So it's kind of a moot point.
I can't stand Orton. The World title was perfect for him because it kept him away from true main events.
ReplyDeleteOr else Bryan shows up at the contract signing, hits a running knee on Batista, and signs the contract himself.
ReplyDeleteNo way does Punk face Kane at 'Mania. It just isn't happening.
ReplyDeleteThis guy gets it.
ReplyDeleteTaker's gota get that win back!
ReplyDeleteThen again, Big Show was booked as a monster challenging Orton a month after wearing a diaper and crying.
ReplyDeleteThey've already pulled the trigger on the big moment twice. That ship has sailed.
ReplyDeleteAnd Eddie didn't suffer much for winning the WWE title at No Way Out.
"According to Dave Scherer of PWInsider.com, the WWE is now considering
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan facing both Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania for the
Heavyweight Championship."
I don't buy it. sounds like the usual rumors the gain more interest in upcoming Elimination Chamber ppv.
That actually worked really well for Eddie Guerrero in 2004 and gave added value tocan otherwise throwaway show
ReplyDeleteHow come booker t doesnt call smack down anymore? Was he really an worse than overly excited jbl? I used to love his fave 5 and having his "boy" Bryan at the top of the list.
ReplyDeletehaha, remember when they did that with the "Kiss" demon?
ReplyDeleteShield is going to be doing their own thing... unless they speed up the break-up and have maybe Roman Reigns challenge The Streak.
ReplyDeleteLesnar/Taker is such a stupid idea when Cena/Taker is ready to make a billion dollars for Vince at WrestleMania 30.
ReplyDeleteThat was my first thought reading that comment, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWow, just imagine what this company could accomplish if it put as much effort into giving the fans what they want as they do attempting to get the fans to stop chanting for what they want.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was my idea in making my comment. Of course, Alberto del Rio's Royal Rumble "main event" was jobbing to Edge a couple years ago in the first match, so it has a precedent!
ReplyDeleteHe was awful. I couldn't stand him.
ReplyDeleteThey should just say 'F' it and give us the Mania card we all want.
ReplyDeleteCena/Taker
Bryan/HHH
Brock/Batista - WWE title
Shield/Wyatts
EXACTLY. We've seen Bryan win the title twice and get screwed. Him winning it might actually be less of a BIG MOMENT than him defending it. The second Bryan wins the title, fans are gonna look around the arena waiting for the other shoe to drop. SO yeah, get that out of the way at the Chamber, play up the storyline that he's a massive underdog to walk out of Mania as champ, and then when he DOES defend the title against Evolution Jr. at Mania, you have your insane happy ending and Bryan is cemented as a megastar.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually quite amazed that Orton went from massively over as basically a mid card face for the past year or two, and now is far less over as the frigging WWE Champion! That takes some real "creative" work...
ReplyDeleteTHIS is what I wanna see. Roman/Taker is a thousand times more interesting than Brock/Taker. Makes storyline sense, there's a revenge factor, and hell... I buy Roman as a threat to the streak way more than I would Brock.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that Brock/Batista for the title is the match anyone really wants.
ReplyDeleteThis would be awesome. Though if this is just being considered with Mania two months ago, I'm sure they will change their minds a bunch of other times.
ReplyDeleteIt's the only thing that makes sense currently.
ReplyDeleteHogan had been The Guy for 2 years and 3 months at that point, not fresh off Abeyance Summer and not making the Rumble. And I don't know about the pop not being less huge if he's not winning it, a little bit of the specialness is sucked away, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWell, shit, I would've had him win the Rumble as has been the process for years and years, haha. This scenario, to tell you the truth, I don't know how I'd do that. That's what the damn Rumble's for, lol.
I must say that I really like that there's no predictable Mania this year.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm not sure if it's because of the 4 year layoff and he's just rusty or what, but he looked brittle at the Rumble. Like those huge muscles were on the verge of tearing at the slightest movement.
ReplyDelete"There is also some speculation that Bryan winning the belt and being on RAW the day the network debuts would boost ratings."
ReplyDeleteWhat a stupid company. THEY KNOW BRYAN WINNING WOULD BOOST RATINGS! Just fucking do it already, my God.
Bryan wins the title at the next PPV, Batista gets jealous of the attention, easy main event to sell....and Randy Orton can go away for all I care.
It boggles the mind how much the WWE overthinks things. The crowd wants Bryan as champ leading into WrestleMania...so just give him the belt!
I feel like Elimination Chamber is going to do like a 0.00 buyrate, what with the Network starting the next night and if the claims are to be believed, EVERY OLD PPV EVER will be available on launch (which I presume will include this one). So why spend $60 for the show to watch it live, when if anything interesting happens, you can just want until 11:05pm the next night to queue it up?
ReplyDeleteUnless of course, something awesome is for sure happening at that ppv.... like Daniel Bryan maybe FINALLY GETTING HIS BIG MOMENT?
Keeping Daniel Bryan out of the Rumble.... Vince can't be that stupid. The fans are frothing at the mouth to see WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan. That promise might be enough to get fans to purchase the Elimination Chamber ppv the day before for $50, instead of wating one night to get it for free. (You know what I mean).
Nah, they're totally on track for Punk/HHH at Mania.
ReplyDeleteKane probably screws Punk out of a chamber spot on Raw this week, then Punk over Kane in a grudge match at EC, and then Punk vs HHH at Mania.
JBL is really good as a heel color man.
ReplyDeleteEddie wasn't THIS over and at the time, the WWE title wasn't the "real" title, the HHH Memorial World Heavyweight Title was.
ReplyDeleteAs for booking him like an underdog going into WM with the belt, you really think anyone would buy that Bryan could lose the belt at the traditional happy ending PPV, if he walks out of EC with it? I don't.
You say that now, but there is still a 95% chance it'll be Batista v. Orton.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of Roman as a bonafide threat is a very, very plausible one, good point. Especially compared to Brock.
ReplyDeleteWhile Brock/Bryan would definitely be a better match, but I think Batista/Bryan is a better story - Batista is very much "the establishment" that fans want to see Bryan overcome.
ReplyDeleteThe fans don't have the same disdain for Brock.
See my theory below.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I shrugged and bought the Rumble (my first purchase since WM last year) partially due to knowing I'm getting 6 PPV's for $60 shortly
ReplyDeleteOr fans skip ordering the chamber, here that it was a sick PPV and Bryan won the title...and so they immediately order the Network on Monday morning to check the show out. Remember, at this point getting subscribers to the Network is way more important to WWE than a PPV buyrate on EC.
ReplyDeleteAnd wouldn't fans be more likely to subscribe to the Network coming off a show that MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY, rather than another screwjob ending that pisses everyone off?
They're probably saving that for next year. Taker said he has at least a few Mania's left.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a late 90's WCW main event.
ReplyDeleteWhen even Cleveland is booing Batista as some kind of interloper thief for winning the Rumble, you might have something there, yeah.
ReplyDeleteGood point. It could goose the buyrate for EC AND the subscriber numbers for the network.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what happens, it makes me smile to think about how much the office fears Daniel Bryan.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy money and an easy feud to build. And I think it'd be an awesome match, since Bryan's going to have all the face heat in the world and Batista can smash him for 20 minutes and the crowd will stay right with Bryan. It's too easy, so they won't do it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that after Abeyance Summer that most fans would order that PPV on the idea that that particular something awesome could happen.
ReplyDeleteAnd I said, Fuck it, I'll get it for free in two months, and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to like the ending.
ReplyDeleteRatings didn't go up after Night of Champions.
ReplyDeleteYup, Roman's a plausible kayfabe threat, in that he's never lost a singles match and already gone over a ton of people, and the crowd buys him as a legit monster.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the "smarks", one could totally buy into Roman being the handpicked guy to get that push.
Where as with Brock, he's already been proven to be highly beatable in the ring, and plus nobody would ever buy that Vince is having Brock end the streak. Much less interesting match.
Well, let me put it this way: I don't think the do Punk/HHH with Punk GOING OVER if Punk won't be around past June.
ReplyDeleteAh, I remember how Orton and Batista shone on late '90s WCW programming.
ReplyDeleteI really agree. Elimination Chamber needs to be the best PPV possible for WWE. This is how I'd book it
ReplyDeleteChamber (Punk - Bryan - orton - kane - sheamus - cena ) Bryan wins
Lesnar vs Batista Main event WM slot on the line (Lesnar wins)
Wyatts vs The Shield (Wyatts win)
Give each of those matches at least 20 minutes (elimination chamber 40 minutes) All clean victories. Undercard can be whatever. Thats a guaranteed Awesome PPV.
I doubt anyone trusts the WWE to give them a big moment. They just had that chance Sunday...and like 5 times last year.
ReplyDeleteThe only way (ONLY WAY) the WWE is forgiven is if WrestleMania ends with Bryan celebrating with the belt. Deep down, I think they know that and they're fighting it.
If we go past WrestleMania and Bryan isn't the guy....the "movement" is going to peter out and people are going to find something else to do when the weather gets nice again.
Considering it's Hunter, I can see him insisting that a new contract is the price of returning the NOC loss, sure.
ReplyDeleteWait....you mean the company may put the most over guy on the roster in a big match at WrestleMania?
ReplyDeleteI don't follow the logic here.
In terms of the storyline yes, Bryan being portrayed as the underdog against Batista and Orton would be very very easy to buy. Anyway, what would you have them do to put Bryan in the Mania title match that would make more sense? The only other options are some crazy booking where he what, wins a #1 contenders match on Raw to make it a triple threat? After he loses in the Chamber match? That makes Bryan look weak heading into Mania, it's weird booking (WHY DOES HE GET THE TITLE SHOT), and it's unnecesary. They wouldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteEither Bryan is winning the title in the Chamber, or he's fighting SHeamus at Mania in the opener. There's really no logical alternative.
A Brock/Taker storyline is already there. They can play up their past matches and say how Brock destroyed Undertaker at HIAC and how Taker has never beaten Brock.
ReplyDeleteMania 30 should have a huge main showcase main event. Not Orton vs. Batista.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Batista's a super douchey friend of HHH, it plays perfectly into Bryan's storyline.
ReplyDeleteGood point. Fool me once, shame on me.... fool my four times, you're a WWE fan.
ReplyDeleteYea, but let's be realistic. Are they going to run Brock vs. Bryan for the belt at Mania? They promised Batista a main event match. Outside of Batista vs. Undertaker or Batista va. Cena ,there aren't any that don't involve a championship match. Batista will be in the championship match at Mania, DEAL WITH IT (ugh!)
ReplyDeleteDon't know if it'd be awesome. Batista's significantly worse in the ring than Orton, and some of the Orton/Bryan matches were pretty underwhelming.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for actually honoring a promise in THIS BUSINESS-AH...Big Dave sure is lucky he's Hunter's pal.
ReplyDeleteWell as we've been saying in this thread, Bryan wins the title at EC to set up either Bryan/Batista or Bryan/Batista/Orton.
ReplyDeleteI think fans would be way more into that than Batista/Brock. Who's the face in Batista vs Brock? Batista? Fans would shit all over that.
Actually, in theory, you could do it right away. Not sure exactly what time (I want to say 9 or 10 am), but that's when the Network overall goes live. The 11:05 time is when the 24 hour feed goes live. So if they add EC right away (not sure if they will or not...if they're smart, they just won't say at all and then put it in there right away, you won't lose any buys or upset anyone who had already decided to wait anyway), it should be available the next morning. That said, some people will still buy it. Anywhere outside the US isn't even getting the Network anytime soon, some people might not buy the Network immediately, and some people might really want to see it live so it isn't spoiled by friends/facebook/twitter/whatever. I do imagine the buyrate would be way down from what it would normally do, though.
ReplyDeleteBryan vs Lesnar in my opinion is probably the best drawing championship match they could do, because both are massively over. It would be a great David vs Goliath match. If there is a promise to Batista to main event WM, then try to convince him its "best for business" to give it up. Buy him off if needed. If not, then do Batista (corporate heel) vs Bryan at WM.
ReplyDeleteCena VS Bray and Punk VS HHH, I imagine those would be the same. That's what they've been building to (well, definitely Cena VS Bray after the way the Rumble match ended...they seem to alternate on building toward Punk/HHH or Bryan/HHH). The only one it'd really change anything for as far as the rumored card goes is Sheamus, I'm sure they can figure out something for Sheamus to do. RVD or Del Rio or Reigns or something.
ReplyDeleteAh, I doubt Punk is suddenly gonna retire come June. He might take time off or start going to a more part-time schedule, but chances are he's gonna be wrestling for them in some capacity for a few years. They're starving for stars and he's one of the few real stars they have, and from his end it's not like CM Punk is gonna go into acting or anything.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm sure Punk and WWE will be working together for awhile, even if he's not on a fulltime road schedule.
They're not gonna waste one of their biggest stars on a matchup with Kane, and HHH isn't taking Mania off.
Screw Batista already, that's Vince's fault for guaranteeing him anything.
ReplyDeleteOh I totally agree that's the money match and the match I'd most want to see! I just don't see it happening, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteBatista somehow cashes in early and wins. Bryan vs. Batista. I don't want Orton anywhere near the title anymore.
ReplyDeleteIf WWE is contractually obligated to give Batista the title at Wrestlemania, would you still want Daniel Bryan in that match?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the build, but if the match goes on last (which it might or might not), I imagine Bryan would win. Batista can win the title at Extreme Rules if they're determined to do that. They'd want the great crowd reaction and yes chants. The only real problem is, the proper way to do the storyline is for Bryan to be CHALLENGING for the title (even if it's a triple threat) going into Mania, and to finally win it there, but presumably the only real way to make this work is for Bryan to win the title at EC, with a triple threat coming because Orton gets a rematch. They can always play games with the crazy authority figures to get Bryan in some other way with Orton retaining at EC (Kane helps him, or Vince helps him, or HHH is having a face day and let's him earn a spot).
ReplyDeleteIF they went through with this, I'm not sure I see a reason to actually go through with adding Bryan to the match to try to avoid the crowd shitting all over the match, only to have Batista win the title (can't possibly see Orton retaining), which would presumably just get the crowd to shit all over that. I guess it's possible if you want Bryan to challenge Dave post WM with Dave as a heel, and if the match doesn't go on last, anything is fair game since they can just have the big face win in the actual main event, but otherwise, I imagine Bryan would win.
Wouldn't mind that. I mean, if they went through with this, they pretty much have to have Bryan win the title at WM, not Elimination Chamber, right? It's the better story than winning it in the Chamber. They'd either have to do the Abeyance thing or, if they went with the "Bryan signs the contract" thing, it'd pretty much have to happen the next night on Raw. No way they can job Bryan at EC and then launch the Network at 11:05 with everyone thinking the main event to WM is Orton/Batista, right? Right? Oh, they can? Damnit.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's what he was going for.
ReplyDeleteIf they were contractually obligated to, 100% guaranteed Batista walks out of Mania with the title, then no...let Bryan and Undertaker tear the house down in the real main event.
ReplyDeleteSide note, but Rocks promo where he mocks everyone else in the Hell in a Cell, most of all his impression of HHH, is one of my favorite of all time.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about that. Batista's had some pretty good WrestleMania main events when he's been motiviated. I guess the question is, how motivated will Batista be?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of The Shield and Taker, after the Rumble run and making him look so dominant, Reigns/Taker could potentially be a hell of a Wrestlemania match, and I'd buy into the near falls a lot more there than I would Brock/Taker (which could be a great match, but I don't buy for even a second Brock would win). But unless you do Brock/Bryan (which I'd be cool with but doesn't seem to have a logical point to start it right now either), I'm not sure what they'd do with Brock if he's not facing Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteEveryone saw through that shit.
ReplyDeleteMeh, that doesn't bother me, I really doubt this is Taker's last WM. I imagine they're saving that one til closer to the end, or maybe for when they won't have guys like Brock available for big matches. I do want to see that match (and I don't even like Cena), and it's a total no brainer, but neither guy is going anywhere. Obviously there's always the risk of injury, but they haven't missed a Mania in a long time.
ReplyDeleteVince signed Batista to a contract with all these guarantees was pretty fucking stupid.
ReplyDeleteFantasy booking hat! (I still doubt Bryan is going over at EC, but if I'm booking from today through Mania, this is how I go...)
ReplyDeleteElimination Chamber: Bryan/Cena/Sheamus/Brock/Orton and... fuck let's say Big E to get a rub. 1) Wyatts attack Cena before the match. leave him for dead. Roll Cena in ring, Lesnar eliminates him. 2) Lesnar eliminates Big E. 3) Sheamus eliminates Lesnar. Oh shit! 4) Lesnar attacks Sheamus from behind, F5. Orton pins Sheamus. 5) and finally....Bryan knees Orton, wins the goddamn title.
And we move onto Wrestlemania 30, hosted by Hulk Hogan:
WWE Title: Bryan (c) vs Orton vs Batista
Streak: Undertaker vs Roman Reigns
Battle for the Authority: Punk vs HHH
No Holds Barred: Sheamus vs Brock Lesnar
Steel Cage: Cena vs Bray Wyatt
IC vs US Title Unification: Ambrose vs Big E
Hair vs Mask: Seth Rollins vs Rey Mysterio
Divas Title: AJ vs Tamina
Kickoff Show: Tag Title Fat 4-Way: Usos (c) vs Rhodes Bros vs Real Americans vs ADR/Sandow
Put al the newer guys over: Bryan, Punk, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Ambrose, Rollins, AJ, Usos, and ROMAN ENDS THE STREAK.
Exactly. Let Batista turn into Douchetista, The Authority turns on Orton at EC in favor of the big guy, Bryan wins the EC match for #1 Contendership, then Bryan vs. Batista at the show.
ReplyDeleteI actually think Punk/HHH makes more sense. I know a lot of people think Bryan/HHH makes more sense (and in a way it does since HHH screwed Bryan way before Punk even got involved in the Authority storyline), but I feel like Punk's story has always been about taking down the establishment, whereas Bryan's story was always about overcoming the establishment in order to win the WWE title. In that case, it makes more sense for Punk to face HHH and Bryan to challenge for the title...but that only works IF Bryan is in the title match. If not, then yeah, Bryan/HHH makes more sense.
ReplyDeleteIf they use it to set up Bryan v. Batista in a rematch at Extreme Rules where Bryan becomes World Champion in Seattle and blows the roof off the joint, yes.
ReplyDeleteNo no, Taker VS Reigns with the Shield at ringside. I'd never ever buy that Undertaker could possibly lose a handicap match to The Shield...if the streak was ever going to end (and I don't think Reigns would end it for the record), there's no way in hell it'll end in a handicap match. No one guy is even getting the boost from that. Do Reigns with Shield at ringside, Undertaker beats Reigns in a hard fought match, Reigns turns on Ambrose and Rollins post match to turn face.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't go to Pittsburgh expecting this.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. I think Brock/Taker could be a good match, but I don't buy for a second Brock would end the streak.
ReplyDeleteLike I said elsewhere, I honestly have no idea. Stupid honoring promises to win Rumbles.
ReplyDeleteI think it's clear they need to drug Shawn with a mild hallucinogen and let him think Bryan is actually Jesus and talk him into the match. Let them blow the roof off the Superdome with a 10 star match. Let the Evolution boys act as the gym bag to the crowd's Orton'ing. Let Bryan beat whoever's left the next night
ReplyDeleteUse the chamber match to set up a Mania match between Brock and Sheamus. The match itself would be the absolute tits--- the two of them could absolutely beat the shit outta eachother. The way I see it, if they end up having to turn Batista heel (which the crowd is kinda forcing their hand on), then they probably keep Sheamus face.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't imagine anything that would get Sheamus more over as a monster face than a crazy Mania match with Brock, win or lose.
Ok, incoming SD spoilers, I am actually quite pleased with the final two entrants.
ReplyDeleteCleveland keeping up the Batista hate too. That must've really punched 'em in the balls if this report is true, the thought that if Cleveland - CLEVELAND - is booing Batista, how can they get through another 2 months of Ostensibly Face Dave.
ReplyDeleteSo whatever happened to that Daniel Bryan kid? I haven't heard anything about him in awhile..
ReplyDeleteIf anyone ends the Streak, it's Daniel Bryan.
ReplyDeleteAll everybody talks about is Daniel! Daniel Daniel Daniel!
ReplyDeleteTHIS. I'd love to see Roman actually end the streak, but this would be all kinds of awesome too. Roman would be absolutely made if he almost ends the streak, and then saves Taker from a Shield beatdown.
ReplyDeleteThen you run Roman vs Ambrose/Rollins over the summer, and prep Roman to win the title at Mania 31.
Exactly what did Batista do to make him a face?
ReplyDeleteHE HUGGED HHH!!! When did HHH stop being a heel, exactly?
Let Undertaker take Reigns under his wing. Then he can turn on him and (if Cena doesn't get the match NEXT year) you have a ready made match for Wrestlemania 31.
ReplyDeleteEven if they hadn't (and I'm not convinced they did), Batista still would have ended up in the WM main event.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Shawn want to wrestle Jesus? Because his dad no-showed that tag match against the McMahons eight years ago?
ReplyDeleteThough, Entrant X in THAT environment? Poor guy's made of glass as is of late
ReplyDeleteYou getz the downvote for ruining my sarcasm. Zany..
ReplyDelete....I would be ok with this for storyline purposes
ReplyDeleteChristian?
ReplyDeleteNo, Bryan acts as Jesus to convince him to take a match with Daniel Bryan.
ReplyDeleteBryan would have to trim the beard up a little bit.
Say what you will about WWE Creative, but you have to admit that Daniel Bryan is a much more chantable name than Bryan Danielson.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, depending on your thoughts on spoilers. Could be ReyRey or Khali too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news, no doubt. One side effect though is the whole HHH/Punk match is now starting to feel really contrived, and 2nd rate. Bryan's main adversary has always been COOHHH and by finally acknowledging this progression it really feels like, as unlikely as it always is, that Bryan needs to go over HHH. It's kind of a shame that Bryan's (probably) going to get the belt in the Chamber match and not in an epic 1-on-1 grudge match, so it would be great if he won the belt and retained it against HHH or Corporate Brock at Mania. I KNOW, I KNOW, I don't want HHH anywhere NEAR the belt either, but really look at it...the boiling blood is between Bryan and HHH more than anyone else. And I don't want DAVE! or Orton near the belt anymore either.
ReplyDeleteLest I sound like a whiny smark who is never satisfied, it's def. more important that Bryan gets the belt and is on top, and if this news really is true, then I'm beyond happy AND excited to see them FINALLY fucking get it.
IF.
I love Bray Wyatt, but I don't think he's worthy of a Mania match with Cena yet. Why not set up a mini-tourney for the night of Mania. Cena vs Batista and Bryan vs Orton early in the night, with the winners meeting in the main. Gives Batista the main event quality match he was promised, gets Bryan in the main event we all want, and the card is suddenly stacked with 2 more 'top' matches...
ReplyDeleteHave you seen those pics? Jesus is totally ripped. DBry would have to do some serious crunches to pull that off.
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% convinced of that either. But I'm just going with the rumorz.
ReplyDeletePeople won't skip it. 50% of the fun of a PPV you wouldn't normally watch at a bar/party (that is to say, all PPVs except WM) is making pithy comments live as it happens on Twitter/here/message boards.
ReplyDeleteAnd if there's even a hint of Bryan winning that permeates the online community, EC could set a record for itself.
I'm gonna have to watch that now.
ReplyDeleteThat's on his Great One DVD, right?
Hey, I'm not booking this shit. If I were, Pittsburgh loses its mind when Bryan wins the Rumble, lol.
ReplyDeleteKind of like how Lot's daughters got him drunk so that he would fuck them?
ReplyDeleteI mean, it's a really small sample size and he's got a couple months still, but he's looked out of shape and sloppy as shit so far. That spear on Reigns at the Rumble was god awful, and could he not do an actual Batista Bomb to ADR? There's still plenty of time and I'm sure he'll get in better shape, but it hasn't exactly been a big secret he was coming back, surprised he's been as sloppy as he has been. Rock was gone forever and while he wasn't up to his old standards, he wasn't sloppy or winded like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat would solve this issue is two titles. Too bad they unified those sumbitches..
ReplyDelete....so doesn't this get solved pretty easily if HHH does what's right for "This business" and takes a weekly shit kicking from now til Mania? Do Batista/Orton for the belt, Bryan wrecks HHH and gets the winner the next night. Too bad for the Divas show, could have done Macho/Liz with Bryan/AJ. Shoehorn Punk into the Cena/Wyatt angle, let them turn on each other. If Punk's sticking around let him be Bryan's summer feud, if not, see if Cena wants to put Bryan over one more time
ReplyDeleteI could get behind Brock/Sheamus, not sure WWE would want that for Brock at Mania though.
ReplyDeletePut all the younger guys over?!
ReplyDelete...Vince and HHH run shit like the Yankees, they only care about the aging vets not developing youth...
He really hit the gym after Kurt Angle and Daivari insulted Him.
ReplyDeleteNever thought we'd be bemaoning that, but it's a goddamn good point.
ReplyDeletePrediction: Brock murderizes Face Entrant X on Monday, and takes his spot in the Chamber.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. Is Brock even rumored for EC though or he just going to show up in Taker's casket some monday?
ReplyDeleteWell all Brock & Heyman talk about is wanting the WWE Title. It'd be so bizarre if they suddenly were like "Well, I guess we don't get a title shot. OK can we fight Taker?" I mean it could happen, but I kinda feel like everything leads towards Brock getting some sort of title shot at the Chamber, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd Face Entrant X seems like he's just sitting there waiting for Brock to kill him dead on Monday.
I don't think anyone thought of the consequences of unifying the two belts.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans really are the cause of bad things, mostly all of them.
ReplyDeleteYeah. All the behind-the-scenes talk was on Montreal, but I'd love to know if Foley was planned to turn heel or if the WWF had other options they were going with. Granted, I'm sure they knew anyone who would go up against Austin would get boo'd and Foley can cut a promo with the best of them.
ReplyDeleteYES! YES! YES!
ReplyDeleteI'm confident that if Batista simply improved his cardio, they could do it. He just needs to be able to feed Bryan after bumps. Hell, their 3 minute RAW match when Bryan hadn't won a single match on NXT was pretty damn good. Crowd was REALLY into it.
Allegedly.
ReplyDeleteThis took place on the night of my 21st birthday, so I missed much of it as I had a keg party in my dorm room. To this day I have never seen the full reformation of DX/X-Pac promo.
ReplyDelete"Gahtdammit why haven't they come to get the Sin 2002 script yet?"
ReplyDeleteThey never watch their own product.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful how so many guys' story connected back then.
ReplyDeleteJobbing to taker does nothing for Bryan. Now beating him, that's another story, it would be far bigger than winning the title. I don't see how you'd even logically book that angle though, and there's no way in hell Bryan would win anyway.
ReplyDelete2 time? Did he win it before SS? Or do you mean his WHC reign?
ReplyDeleteUmm, tune in to the following Raw recap... Only difference is that Austin's "Heel turn" lasted 5 minutes instead of 2 weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's him. He's also the guy that founded ROH, when ECW closed down he didn't have any more tapes to sell, so he just started his own promotion.
ReplyDeleteIt's also worth noting that he was never charged with anything, much less convicted, though the evidence is pretty damning.
If he was coming out of retirement we'd probably know it by now. And if he won't do it for WM NC-17, he won't ever do it period.
ReplyDeleteHe won the title at Summerslam and at Night of Champions.
ReplyDeleteWhy would DB/Taker close the show?
ReplyDeleteThe only reason that HBK/Taker did was because of their history and backstory. DB and Taker have zero history and one six man tag match of backstory to speak of.
Yeah, but wasn't the result of that match tossed out and the match restarted? Or wait, he got stripped of the belt the next night, didn't he? I suppose by the IYH3 precedent he is a 2 time champ then.

ReplyDeleteSmarkmas. I love it
ReplyDeleteMy fears confirmed.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, both sides sound like they need a break from each other. The Punk character is going nowhere and they are probably tired of his mouth. He comes back in a few months and I think the situation is a lot better.
