Oh man, I've been there. Twice. I've had to boycott Lenovo and Acer as a result, and it looks like Toshiba is next because my HD got fried by a power surge, thanks to the cheap bastards not adding a grounding prong.
And it has Windows 7 - lucky man. Got a new Vaio at the weekend because the old one finally retired due to the power connector going. Day 1 - load up all the Windows 8 upgrades including Windows 8.1. Day 2 discover that bluetooth no-longer works as Intel's drivers aren't compatible and Chrome looks like crap. Day 3 roll-back upgrade and reinstall Window 8. **** you very much Microsoft.
I will predict this will happen...... later in the year the fans (older male fans) will TURN on DB cause he also gets cheers from kids and they will find a new person to cheer (Roman Reigns). At first it's cool the males will cheer for DB along with the kids and females. But after a few months these same male smart fans will turn on DB. This is normal from alot of male fans, cause they dont like it when kids and girls cheer for the same person.
Just Watch by Summerslam you will hear boos on DB. And cheer when Brock Lesnar/Roman beats DB for the belt if he has it! Cause you same male wrestling fans can't stand it when you see a guy who can be marketed towards kids. You shitted on Cena for that reason. And that's why DB won't be getting the cheers he gets now towards the end of year.
Actually, the reason "we" stopped cheering Cena is that the WWE took away the very thing that "we" liked. John Cena became popular by being streetwise, insulting other superstars, and using the battle rap format to deliver scathing comments and double entendres. He went to Raw and became more whitewashed, dropped the battles altogether, and wouldn't even show enough confidence to say he was good enough to compete against Jericho or Angle. If Daniel Bryan doesn't undergo that kind of corporate overhaul, he'll be fine.
It makes you wonder, maybe just maybe they are serious about Bryan in the title hunt and finally listening to the fans. They ended the Wyatt program months before it was supposed to. Then he gets added into the EC match.
Okay, seriously, have you not been watching the last six months? The whole point of this rise of Daniel Bryan against the Authority is that he *is* the anti-corporate star due to his refusal to "fall in line". It's not about his look or attitude. Anti-corporate is a reactive stance instead of a proactive one, and right now, he has it.
Put it this way: if "corporate" is against you, you are anti-corporate no matter what you are. And he is.
Yeah, my options were basically getting it repaired for $200 or buying something new, so I decided to sink some Daniel Bryan money into getting something better. Of course I've heard that Vaios have the same sort of power plug problem, but it's worth the risk.
Also, for all the crap that Microsoft gets (deservedly so), having everything backed up on Skydrive and using Office 365 (which I get free through work anyway) means that my system restore is basically a 10 minute job on my part when I switch computers. Add Skydrive, change the active Office install, restore my iTunes purchases and podcasts, boom, done. LOVE IT.
I don't really understand the love that a Batista/Bryan matchup has. It's two guys with absolutely zero history together, one of which hasn't even shown he's capable of putting a match on without gassing himself on the way to the ring.
As a triple-threat it makes much more sense. Orton is the guy (or at least the instrument) that dicked Bryan out of 3 championships, he's the guy that has history with him, and he's a guy that Bryan has put solid to great matches on with on a consistent basis.
Orton and Batista have their evolution history.
Plus there's the whole Orton paranoia angle about HHH possible phasing him out in favor of Batista.
And at the end of the match, you get Bryan beating not one but BOTH of HHH's hand-selected boys to beat the odds.
I mean, of all the scenarios where a triple-threat makes sense, this is the one.
Because giving Bryan an over-the-hill easily-gassed part-timer to work with would make for a better match?
Or because having the guy that came into the company 2 weeks ago makes more sense for the feud than the guy who personally screwed Bryan out of multiple titles?
Great points. I've been posting ever since Batista's return that an all face Triple Threat at Mania would be extremely fresh, would sell big, and be easy to get there with Cena, Batista, and Bryan. But the heel face dynamic still exists because crowd response dictates that Bryan is your only face. This segment hijacking with "Danial Bryan" & "YES!" chants won't end until the fans get their man Bryan his moment.
Also, unless the WWE has been working all of us with the holding back of Bryan, you have to wonder what the problem is. It has to be an impossible job for the writers & creative to come up with successful angles that will get guys over. You'd think that if something big came about organically like it has with Bryan, they would just run with it until they can't. This YES! YES! YES! has become mainstream crossover, which the E is always desperate for.
A few years ago I went through an ultra cheap phase. Found awesome deals on a nice tv and essentially a new laptop at a pawn shop. Might be worth checking out
Use the wholesale websites (e.g. tigerdirect.com) and be patient. If you check every day and wait a month or two you will inevitably find a killer deal.
I wonder if Benoit had won the 2004 Royal Rumble, but then creative had cold feet putting putting Benoit in the main event slot, so they changed it to HBK vs HHH singles match instead if fans would of hijacked the show or not.
I ended up buying an HP Split X2 for work and school because I wanted a combination laptop/tablet. I came close to getting a Lenovo Yoga, but just didn't like the feel of the keys on the back in tablet mode. The Split, as you would imagine, just comes apart, which is pretty nice. It was also $100 cheaper than the Yoga at Best Buy.
As I said elsewhere, in this instance, match-quality is secondary to the story being told - having Bryan overcome the bigger, stronger, (kayfabe) more worthy of Trips' backing past-his-prime part-timer is a better story than a rematch of a rematch of a rematch.
To a lot of fans, Batista being out of shape and walking right back in to a WM main-event is indicative of everything that's wrong with the company at the moment. THAT is what fans want to see Bryan overcome; not even Batista himself, just what Batista symbolizes.
Sometimes, having no history is the way to go - it's a fresh match-up, as opposed to the countless rehashes we've gotten over the last five or six WMs.
Plus, in a sense, while the two individuals themselves don't have any history, the story of "big guy that management likes vs. small guy that management doesn't like" is a timeless classic. They may not have history, but their back-stories do.
Benoit was certainly liked and respected by the fans, but I don't think people were clamoring for him to be the clear #1 on the roster.
Then again, being "cheated" out of the preordained stipulation (getting to see the Rumble winner compete for the title), the fact that it was in a super-smarky city, the idea that it would have resulted in yet ANOTHER Trips/Shawn match... maybe they would have. Hell, the crowd completely shit on Brock/Goldberg, so why not?
My first inclination was to say "no", but the more I think about it, the more I have to say (forgive me) "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
I agree that Batista-Bryan would be awesome. David vs. Goliath, Sting vs. Vader dynamic, but with the added element of "Everyman" Bryan against the ultimate corporate douche heel Batista. Orton should be facing Sheamus or something, not working the main event
I've got an Asus, & I had that problem too - not right away though. It was working fine for a couple years and then bam, suddenly if I wanted it to charge I had to wedge the cord underneath the laptop & hope for the best. Is "faulty power cord port" even a problem that someone (Geek Squad, whoever) can fix?
Great deal!

ReplyDeleteGood deal. Think about how much crisper those 400 Daniel bryan emails are gonna look on a new Vaio
ReplyDelete$150? Lucky bastard.
ReplyDeleteThe title of the post had me thinking your wife gave birth again. Not cool, Scott.

ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought.
ReplyDeleteI think Benoithad slightly more arc on his diving headbutt.

ReplyDeleteShhh. Be very quiet. You don't want to be in this hotel room when he finds out.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of God, Brie, RUN!
ReplyDeleteDB doesn't have rebel streetwise look nor attitude to be an anticorprate star in the long run. DB has the Rey Mysterio friendly look for kids.
ReplyDeleteMy tv broke and my laptop is on it's last legs. I've been looking around for cheap deals for both.

ReplyDelete"He's probably shitting in one of the diva's gym bags right now."
ReplyDeleteftfy
Creative has nothing for them?
ReplyDelete"It's almost like they don't just hate the fans , but they hate money, apparently."
ReplyDeleteThey do not hate money for crying out loud

ProWrestling.net is reporting that Bryan-Triple H is the new plan.

ReplyDeleteKayfabe terms you're right, but in terms of shoots Batista did once make disparaging remarks to Danel Bryan awhile ago.

Complete tangent, but I always thought Benoit's "blood" tights were the coolest tights ever.

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the Pedigree and Pin!
ReplyDeleteSounds like they fixed the Daniel Bryan situation. Now then, what are they going to do about the insanely loud CM Punk chants on Monday?
ReplyDeleteI agree that Batista-Bryan would be awesome. David vs. Goliath, Sting vs. Vader dynamic, but with the added element of "Everyman" Bryan against the ultimate corporate douche heel Batista. Orton should be facing Sheamus or something, not working the main event
ReplyDeleteMonths?
ReplyDeleteI can dig it. As a variation on this, how about Brock winning the title in the Chamber. . .
ReplyDeleteBrock vs. Batista, WWE Title
Taker vs. Cena
Bryan vs. HHH
Orton vs. Sheamus
bahahaha
ReplyDeleteHe really would be the perfect counterpoint to Bryan's character at this point. I'm all in on heel Batista vs. Bryan
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Benoit was *never* over like Bryan is now.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it. It's not like the male fans stopped rooting for Punk once he started getting 100% cheers from the audience.
ReplyDeleteThey had said Bryan would be part of the Wyatt faction all the way to WrestleMania.
