WWE Network Update
The Network received more than 130,000 signups during the first eight hours on it's debut. The WWE did not track these numbers and stopped giving out the information after they found out others were tracking them.

WWE Network to Feature All of the MSG House Shows?
Although nothing is official, there is talk of making all of the shows available on the network in the next several months. It will not happen right away as it is a time-consuming project.

Watching WM X7: Since Paul E. and JR have both gone on record of saying that they had no heat with each other, I can listen to their commentary without feeling weird, because DAMN did they do a good job of bickering and making it seem like they hated each other's guts.
ReplyDeleteI remember renting the Uncensored 1995 tape and actually liking it a lot. (Keep in mind that this was pre-internet, and I had never seen the ECW hardcore style) I even enjoyed the "King of the road" match because it was so different. Also, Big Bubba having a 100% clean win over Sting. WTF???
ReplyDeleteWell, good for Dustin?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that WWE got a ton of Network orders during RAW, as lots of casual fans were probably reminded of it. So I'd say it's a good "first day" start.
ReplyDeleteOf beta testing that is.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there was a little animosity there, because as you said it did feel real at times. Nothing to do with Heyman personally but I'm sure JR just felt upset with Lawler leaving the company.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on how many of those stay after the trial though. That is what matters and we should have an idea of that next week
ReplyDeleteThey had great chemistry and the absolute pinnacle was during the entrance for the Survivor Series main even that year when Heyman starts needling JR for his relationship with Austin. JR telling Heyman "Jim Cornette can replace you on Raw tomorrow night!" and Heyman's subsequent laughter is a real announcing highlight.
ReplyDeleteAdd Superbrawl 1 to that. A bloddy taped fist match with Pillman/Windham, awesome Eaton/Anderson tv title match, Doom blowoff in a cage (shit match, but still important), decent Flair/Fujinami rematch and one of the best tag matches of all time in Sting/Luger vs. The Steiners.
ReplyDeletePlus some Wrestlecrap like Big Josh dancing with bears, Stan Hansen chasing Missy Hyatt around in his underwear, the debut of Badstreet and an Oz match
Yep, I also love how Ross was disgusted with Austin being in the Alliance, so Heyman kept doing "Let me do it for you: *nasally voice*: STONE COLD! STONE COLD!! STONE COLD!!"
ReplyDeleteIf they include all of the MSG shows, that will be fucking awesome.
ReplyDeleteI thought Big Bubba was excellent. He should have amounted to more in WCW. But then that's WCW for you.
ReplyDeleteJust curious if anyone had heard of, or tried to cancel the Network? In thinking of trying it out today, mostly for Arrival, then canceling it before the end of the trial period. Also, if you go through PayPal there's no reason I wouldn't be able to cancel right?
ReplyDeleteNetwork: Strange they wouldn't do that... just odd.
ReplyDeleteMSG: That'll be cool.
March 8: Hmm.
Goldust: So what, not even on the show then? Unless they get inserted back into the title picture (with a lot less heat than they had before they lost the belts)... there's not much to do.
Man what a great team that was
ReplyDeleteThere was one Raw during the Invasion where they had to vamp for a couple of minutes for some reason in between matches, and they just kept going back and forth until J.R. was ready to throw to the next segment and said "Awwwwww kiss my asssss." I died laughing. That may be my favorite J.R. commentary moment, along with him standing right below HHH after he attacked Austin on the announce table in early 2001 and repeatedly calling him a son of a bitch as HHH posed above him.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember which Raw it was but after one of the matches JR and Paul really get into. It gets to the point that they're almost yelling at each other and it ends with JR saying something like "well you go to hell". I wish I could find that clip.
ReplyDeleteHeyman and JR worked well together in WCW, too. I never thought there was any animosity there, like I never imagined there was any animosity between Gorilla-Ventura or Gorilla-Heenan. They were a good combination.
ReplyDeleteAnd then Lawler came back and I got sick of him within 3 minutes with his outdated Puppies garbage.
ReplyDeleteI loved Superbrawl 2 with Pillman/Liger, Steamboat/Rude, Windham&Rhodes/Austin/Zbysko, and Steiners/Anderson& Eaton
ReplyDeleteWWE Network to Feature All of the MSG House Shows? Yes.. a thousand times yes!
ReplyDeleteThat MSG lineup has potential to be a Daniel Bryan post WM 28 scenario.
ReplyDeleteMan I was rolling pretty good on the Roku for 6 minutes till it started have to buffer every 20 seconds!
ReplyDeletePROGRESS
I think I'm going to skip the MSG show and try to hit Raw in Brooklyn before Mania instead.
ReplyDeleteThreadjack: Oh Jesus, I've just gone celibate forever. The payoff to this commercial prompted noises out of me that sounded like Raymond Babbitt near hot water.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaQGFO30sWw
You are officially my lifetime enemy for making me see this.
ReplyDeleteHavoc 90 had a couple of AWESOME tag team matches, with Doom/Flair and Arn, and Nasties/Steiners. There was some crap otherwise, though.
ReplyDeleteNow that the 93 Raw episodes are over on the live stream, I'm watching WrestleMania III until the 2013 Royal Rumble kicks off.
ReplyDeleteDon't hate the player, hate the game. The terrifying, visually torturing game.
ReplyDeleteWell, I jumped in the pool with the rest of you. And surprisingly (not really) nothing working on my ps3.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone REALLY want to see Goldstein Vs Cody. It's a nice story in theory but I don't think people want to see it
ReplyDeleteGoldsein? Cody is fighting his attorney at Mania?
ReplyDelete15 million a year? Thats sweet.
ReplyDeleteLol. Or accountant. "Don't think your special because you know Rocks accountant, Ira Goldberg"
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT!
ReplyDeleteThey should have done it at WM 28,Goldust was on twitter at the asking for the management for a title vs career match,at first they were gonna do it,then they aborted and made Cody vs Show.
ReplyDeleteHE'S BAAAAAAAAAAACK
ReplyDeleteI think it was that ppv where one of the bears peed on the ramp as he was walking.
ReplyDeleteSo many have signed up in total so far? Do we have any numbers yet?
ReplyDeleteSame here on the Roku.
ReplyDeleteMr. Fuji?
ReplyDeleteNah, an old legend returns. (One Post Only?)
ReplyDeleteAt its conference call, WWE said it was planning on releasing subscriber numbers after Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Joey Styles in that vignette when Austin showed up on Hardcore TV. "You're Steve Austin!"
ReplyDeleteExcept it's like, "Holy Shit, the Fuj is back!"
I'm pretty excited about the MSG shows news. There were some really great cards broadcast on the MSG Network back in the day.
ReplyDelete"BY GAWD, THAT'S GOTTA BE, THAT'S GOTTA BE FUJ"
ReplyDeleteDidn't the network need at least a million dollars to break even? Or was it a million customers? Either way making 1,300,000 in the first 8 hours is a sweet gig.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to cancel.....
ReplyDeleteFuck yeah, they'd wrestle that match like it was the biggest of their careers. With a good build ("you were always dad's favourite etc") it could have some sick tension going in. Maybe next year..
ReplyDeleteI dont want to see them wrestle against each other now. There team is still going strong. No need to break them up
ReplyDelete
