Switched to my US account tonight on the PS3 and installed the WWE Network. T-Minus 36 hours until my wife and child never see me again! Unfortunately it doesn't appear that I can trick my Roku box yet, but as long as I've got one connection to the big TV, that's all I need.
Cross your fingers for Monday morning that Unblock-US will support this.
I am fucking pumped. I hope this takes off and goes so well that there's no limit to the shit WWE puts up.
ReplyDeleteSo much shit you can basically relive any era you want seamlessly.
What are you gonna watch first, Armageddon 2003?
ReplyDeleteT-Minus 42 hours until you realise what a big fucking ripoff this is.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy financing the new McMahon superyacht!
Random-ish question about the network: What are they going to do about the WCW shows where Rey Mysterio appears unmasked?
ReplyDeleteThank you, I absolutely will.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I just realized would be a pretty cool feature to have with this? The ability to create and share playlists.
ReplyDeleteWould be fucking crazy.
Hi Scott, any chance you could post an install guide for the app?
ReplyDeleteThat's a great point. They always made a big hooplah about his mask when he in fact we wrestled without it for TWO YEARS in WCW
ReplyDeleteI'm getting worried I won't be able to get this for my IPad and ill be sol
ReplyDeleteWell. Fuck you too, Buzz Killington.
ReplyDelete:Starts to laugh realizing that WWE probably hasn't thought of that:
ReplyDeleteI imagine he's got a yearning to watch Halloween Havoc 2000
ReplyDeleteYou will. You just need Cole to help out.
ReplyDeleteZeb isn't going to like Scott sneaking across the border.
ReplyDeleteThey'll show them, I would think. Classics On Demand aired Starrcade 2000 and Sin 2001, and Rey was unmasked on those.
ReplyDeleteHellllllllll no.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably just being a worry wart about it. It seems like its going to basically be Netflix
How?
ReplyDeleteA blue dot over his face. Duh.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, but I don't think they have any of his unmasked matches on his DVD releases...
ReplyDeleteYeah, these idiots who would probably have bought WrestleMania for $60 are instead getting WrestleMania + access to every ppv ever + access to the NXT special and other speical events + replays of Raw and Smackdown. What maroons.
ReplyDeleteDamn upper Mexicans.
ReplyDeleteThat should be a question of the day: What are you going to watch on the network first?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Halloween Havoc 1990, because I want to see what that Lex Luger v. Stan Hansen match is like.
If possible, I'd like to watch all the WWF ppvs and PT Wrestling / Raws in order.
ReplyDeleteI *REALLY* hope they are going to fill some of the 24/7 part of the channel with classic wrestling shows like WCW Saturday Night, Saturday Night's Main Event, Wrestling Challenge or Superstars, the ECW TV show, etc. If they program parts of that portion for the wrestling geeks, it'll be awesome. But I'm afraid it's going to be reruns of the "original programming" their creating over and over again. If it's that... I'll probably be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm buying WrestleMania anyway, so there's no risk for me. And I'm sure the 30 or so PPVs I've never seen before will make it worthwhile.
I know. We should be like Zanadude who just streams his shit.
ReplyDeleteWhere is that guy anyway?
And I'm going to be very disappointed if there's no WWE Channel on my Apple TV come Monday morning....
ReplyDeleteCole giving tutorials on Raw is going to be brutal/hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHe is recovering from a horrific smelting incident.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the 360 to have something.
ReplyDeleteI have it installed on my Roku but I'm in the US
ReplyDeleteIt'll probably be an hour and a half of the three hour Raw.
ReplyDeleteI'm pumped about getting the entire HOF ceremony. Those are usually eviscerated for broadcast. There are a couple WM Blu-rays I bought just for the HOF.
ReplyDeleteOh fuck yeah. Putting it on the Sony right now.
ReplyDeleteJust turn on Raw, Michael Cole will walk you through it every hour on the hour for the next year and a half.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I put it on today. Unfortunately I have to work Monday, although I don't have to go in until 10, so I'll probably get all set up before leaving and that way, when I get home, I don't have to waste time "installing things" and "signing up for networks" and all that crap.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a neat feature if they did mini-docs around major wrestlers or angles and did playlists similar to what Bobby mentioned but all related to the angle. Imagine a one-stop shop for the Hogan-Andre feud with matches or Nick Bockwinkel doing a quick five minutes on Verne before a playlist of their matches. It'd be way too much to expect from the Network, but would be cool.
ReplyDeleteTJ: my aunt recently committed suicide. I barely knew her, last time I saw her was about around the time Ric Flair showed up on WWE TV with the NWA title, but my mom is a complete wreck, understandably.
ReplyDeleteOn a much lighter note, would anyone be interested in a Deadspin-style "Why Your Promotion Sucks" series? I've thought about doing it for WM week.
Sorry about your aunt.
ReplyDeleteInterested in what way? Taking part, or reading/viewing it? I'm unsure of what exactly you mean.
Um, is it because facial hair and an adam's apple are missing?
ReplyDeletemaybe I am wrongfully giving most people the benefit of doubt here. but afaik there are hardly any "marks" (in the traditional sense) present at the ROH shows. so almost everyone knows that Danger was not really knocked out.... and that obviously she would not really get raped in the ring.
ReplyDeletewho here likes a good story about a bridge?
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest, though. While their target veers toward a younger, tech-savvy audience these days, they still retain a large number of older folk who wouldn't know the difference between a cell phone and a phone booth. That's the audience these tutorials are intended for.
ReplyDeleteYoung got zero backlash because 80% of the audience he had any idea he's gay.
ReplyDeleteI imagine at this point, they barely care about Rey.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Macklemore is that he's a pandering discolored who will jump on any cause to get some attention.
ReplyDeleteI like my men beardless.
ReplyDeleteI'd say the being bad at your job part of him is more offensive.
ReplyDeleteNo backlash from the wrestlers of management, which is more important, IMO.
ReplyDeleteThat's the worst segue to another topic that I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need a good laugh.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q5ZFYFatvI
You don't have a TV, you think Maria Kanellis is ugly, WHAT ELSE IS WRONG WITH YOU!?
ReplyDelete12. Will encores of Raw, SmackDown and Main Event be on WWE Network?
ReplyDeleteThe Best of Raw and SmackDown from 2012 and 2013 will be available on WWE Network.
So no actual full episodes of Raw or Smackdown will air,at least at first. Is this an issue with their tv contract that forbids it or are they just slowly rolling out content?
I'm exactly the same, im hoping for a freak snowstorm so i can stay home monday. Maybe i should throw a sickie?
ReplyDeleteYep, Capital Combat is first on my list. One of the few shows from that era that I've never seen.
ReplyDeleteThe Flair promo with the ponytail is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou can't do that already with YouTube/DailyMotion?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping appear at some point, I would lime to watch the builds before each ppv etc.
ReplyDeleteThat's lame.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel. The build is a lot of the fun.
ReplyDeleteRandom old Raws and SDs will be, but not full seasons.
ReplyDeleteThey have to save something to roll out later.
Canadian Stampede is on my list followed by some mid 90's WCW, and some 2009 Jericho and Michaels awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteI'll say here the same thing I said when I saw the commercial for it last night:
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why, God, why?
I love watching old PPVs while doing chores around the house. The Network is totally worth the $10 for the background noise alone.
ReplyDeleteHi Kyle, any chance you could post a guide to watching Raw? not sure how to do it
ReplyDeleteSo it seems like they basically gave Kring what he wanted in the second season. An entirely new cast of heroes and abilities.. I'll probably watch it, but I doubt anything will be as good as those first few episodes of the show.
ReplyDeleteSo, I have the Network installed on PS3,and I assume the Network will be available on my iPad tomorrow morning. But what about on my laptop? Will it just be through the website, or will there be a Netflix-like app on my Windows 8 system I can download? Have they announced that yet?
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with watching a little RVD head bumping off the RKO, or Michaels getting ***1/2 with a broomstick
ReplyDeleteI really wish ROH would get their "PPV" game in order. I was excited about the 12th Anniversary show and would have ordered it yesterday had it been available. Unfortunately it still isn't up and I'm headed into a busy week when I won't have 3 hours to set aside for a PPV. By next weekend it's going to feel too late to pay $15 for a week old show for which I'll probably have given in and read the spoilers. If they lose my buy this way, I can't imagine it's the only one.
ReplyDeleteIf they can't handle the iPPV thing, then they should be making it a priority to get their major shows on the air as quickly as humanly possible. I don't understand why they can't edit live, as you would for a PPV, and then rush the show to the website as soon as it's off the air. At the very least it should be up by noon the next day. It's great they have a product that I'm actually anticipating watching, but now they need to make that product as accessible as possible so they can make the money they deserve and grow as a company.
I agree with them being THE best promotion for a stretch of years. I still stand by my thought that 05-07 is comparable with late 80's NWA and late 90's-early 2000's WWE as the best it gets
ReplyDeleteIts a shame how they are such a shell of their former self these days, but the writing was on the wall for years with all of the top talent going to WWE or TNA, Gabe leaving and starting a new promotion, etc.
You are correct. To this day the full details have not really been publicly discussed I believe, but yer spot on
ReplyDeleteI sent Scott and email a year or so back trying to get more info on it, or to at least get some blog discussion going, but like everything else iv sent him it got pushed aside for stupid ass emails
The 90 minute hulu versions of raw are far superior to the 3 hour show. Less filler, you only get the important stuff. A lot easier to watch IMO.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I can't wait for the warrior's live hall of fame speech!
ReplyDeleteAre you and BigNasty teaming up to take on everyone who is looking forward to the Network?
ReplyDeleteI think this is very good. As a kid, I was enamored with UW, so this seems like a worthy purchase for nostalgic purposes...
ReplyDeleteStill no Savage/Warrior from SummerSlam 92 huh
ReplyDeleteOnly 2 WCW matches he had I believe, not counting Wargames
ReplyDeleteNothing about Wrath screams headline, ppv, draw or money
ReplyDeleteOnly thing that worked against him was his promo skills and the fact he sounded like a girl, but the dude had a good marketable look and was a good big guy worker and was fairly charismatic inside the ring and I feel both WWF and WCW left a lot of money on the table by not giving him a serious main event push.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the story behind Goldust / Warrior anyway? What on earth were they thinking?
ReplyDeleteLOL I'll pretend they're coming out with a second Savage set that will have this...
ReplyDeleteDust was injured, no?
ReplyDelete
