Hello from your friends at @Wrestling617!
A thought while watching Bo Dallas wrap up his NXT run.
Could we see him bring the Bo-lievers gimmick up with him and have it (intentionally) fail miserably... Only to see him 'saved' by brother Bray and make Bo Wyatt the 4th man?
Would also set up a new 'leader' if the time ever comes to turn Bray face.

I'm not opposed to adding him to the Wyatt Family as the screwup brother of Bray so they have someone to take the bullet, but the Bo-Lievers deal just comes across as so minor-league and dated without the context of the Full Sail crowd. Plus I really don't think Bo is ready for prime time yet, and not just in the intentional comedy way. They already have enough clowns in the midcard and I just don't see the spot for Bo.
But yeah, bringing him in as the spotlight-hogging younger brother might be something they could make work.

ReplyDeleteIf,and I mean IF Cena one day does the heel turn,Bo can be his little buddy.
ReplyDeleteThe Cruiserweight Battle Royal followed by the Malenko/Jericho match is still one of my favorite moments in wrestling.
ReplyDeleteThe Bo shtick could absolutely work on the main stage so long as they set it up right.
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't even set up Emma correctly. I'm not gonna hold my breath.
ReplyDeleteWasn't 29 the first thing that aired on the Network?
ReplyDeleteI don't believe so. They launched with the WM Rewind about Hogan/T vs. Piper/Orndorff, by my recollection.
ReplyDeleteI'm so conflicted on 28. The first half drags SO badly but the top 3 matches I LOVE.
ReplyDeleteSo would Bo have to inherit the whole "Sister Abilgail" history, and if so, would WWE even bother trying to explain why it affected Bo comparatively less than Bray? I don't think creative would want to go through the effort of tying up those loose ends when there's so many 50/50 bookings to keep on top of.
ReplyDeleteYeah jericho doing the ring introductions was pretty funny
ReplyDeleteHey, Devitt is wrestling a Loser Leaves Town match. If he loses, thoughts on what this might mean for NJ, The Bullet Club, NXT?
ReplyDeleteThat's difficult to say. He's the least "face" of the three of them, but when they were heels the audience reacted the most to him getting his comeuppance.
ReplyDeleteBo has the character down but his ringwork needs work. He still needs somebody to lead him in the ring.
ReplyDeleteSo when will Ambrose defend the U.S. title again?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I buy that. There seem to be just as many cases of people getting over huge as singles guys (Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Booker T) and people struggling to get over on their own (Hart Dynasty, Prime Time Players, Tons of Funk). Plus you have guys like the Hardys and Dudleys, where as a team they made a lot of money...but as singles guys, only one got over as a legitimate source of revenue. Did that one person make more than the unit?
ReplyDeleteJericho vs Punk at 28 was so close to getting *THERE* but is just short. Reminds me of the HBK/Jericho match
ReplyDeleteAlso on Battlebowl 93 you can watch Mean Gene' s over the top hitting on Fifi. Pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteBo and Braybel, Beards on a Mission! Everybody say "We're here!"
ReplyDeleteBo has no beard, but this train ain't got no brakes.
Exactly.
ReplyDeleteI cringe when I watch Emma and Santino because she was pitched perfectly in NXT but looks so bush league on the main roster.
It's like they took everything that was embarrassing and cheesy about her and amplified it. The subtlety was what made Emma work in NXT.
I still do the same thing but...Backlash has been gone for five years.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the WWE's penchant for timely pop culture references, I predict they film a series of "Bo Knows" vignettes prior to his debut.
ReplyDeleteIt will always be Backlash.
ReplyDeleteNot yet. Happen to catch that word in there? They have a track record of pushing people too hard too soon sometimes (some guy named Rocky comes to mind...) and it stalls things or outright ruins them. Of course, like Rock, if the talent is there it finds a way to come through eventually.
ReplyDeleteWhen he loses it.
ReplyDeleteBo-Lievers, Emma-Lution, Rose-Buds, et al. Do they come up with names just to exploit the eye-rolling fan clubs, or are they conjured up later on?
ReplyDeleteIt will be the start of a midcard feud.
ReplyDeleteBubba wasn't over on his own at all until TNA. As for the Hardy's, Jeff didn't make more than the overall unit, but he probably COULD have if he had put the the meth down in time. And he was far and away more profitable on his own than Matt.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say the NXT character was any great shakes. Before her match with Paige at Arrival, when she was stretching and doing the arm-twitch dance thing at the same time, it left me rather quizzical
ReplyDeleteI am hearing lots of talk about jobbers joining the Wyatt family. I hope they stay the way they are. I like that there are no weak links, makes for a very powerful stable. Like at the Chamber PPV, Reigns got the hot tag, and still had trouble getting Rowan (the #3 guy) off his feet. That's a hell of a strong stable.
ReplyDeleteThis need to be a backstage segment.
ReplyDeleteI think that has more to do with the performer and their ability to translate it to the big stage, which is something you've said yourself about a lot of the NXT acts (and allude to here about Bo, even though I disagree about that specific example; I think he's ready, but that's neither here nor there).
ReplyDeleteYou're both right.
ReplyDeleteWrestleMania I was airing on the live feed when I could finally log in that first day, around 4pm.
ReplyDeleteWhich HBK/Jericho match? The one at 19?
ReplyDeleteI think the problem is that the first ten minutes of Punk/Jericho were way too bogged down by the angle-heavy stuff, but when it got going it was awesome.
You're assessment is SPOT ON, sir. Once they gave up on getting the "Punk can't get DQ'd or he loses the belt" angle over, the match got very good, very fast.
ReplyDeleteI love 28. You can't really go wrong with those top three matches, and I even felt like the Divas match with Maria Menouous (sp?) was pretty great for what it was.
ReplyDeleteThe problem prevailed at Extreme Rules, too, but the "Jericho antagonizing Punk's family" stuff thankfully only lasted a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteIt make his sympathetic. Or would if written properly, anyway. As others have pointed out, when HHH demanded Randy surrender the belt and he spit in HHH's face instead, that was an awesome face move.
ReplyDelete3, X, X-7... what else?
ReplyDeleteThey should have done 30 days of Mania leading up to XXX instead of replaying so much shit over and over again.
ReplyDeleteIt will also make you want to watch Starrcade 93 to see the payoff to Flair/Vader.
ReplyDeleteAlso hilarous on that show is Mean Gene talking about how many major cities were bidding to host Starrcade 93. "Tokyo! London! New York! and we're going with.... CHARLOTTE!"
Sheamus is underrated as a worker
ReplyDeleteThe Shield actually bears a strong resemblance to The Freebirds. Dean Ambrose is Michael Hayes--the talker, Seth Rollins is the Buddy Roberts--the punk/bumper, and Roman Reigns is obviously the Terry Gordy--the muscle. That means if they break Reigns away from the group he's going to wind up in a generic masked gimmick, jobbing in a forgettable sub-feud to The Undertaker. They should really just keep the stable together.
ReplyDeleteWhat is left for Cena the face to do, anyway? Doesn't anyone else think there's a reason he's fourth (FOURTH) from the top at Mania this year?
ReplyDeleteI've only been watching NXT since a few weeks before it's Network debut, and I don't think I have a solid idea on what Bo's character *IS*. He was a plucky babyface at last year's Rumble; now he's a cocky heel? And he chances everything so it's a pun on his first name? Do I have all the subelty of the character down?
ReplyDeleteYea, the one at 19. Just because I thought both were SO close to getting AWESOME, but fell just shirt for whatever reason.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it with the analysis of the jericho/Punk match tho
regarding this "who is the most over"-discussion: maybe it's just the whole group that is over? (and the crowd reaction will depend on who looks best during particular segments/matches)
ReplyDelete(although maybe I may be projecting my own opinion on everyone else here)
WWE doesn't care about loose ends. Exhibit 1: Kane/Undertaker.
ReplyDeleteLove everything about this analysis
ReplyDeleteUndertaker killed his parents on accident and emotionally scarred Kane but their dad was really Paul Bearer.
ReplyDeleteYou're trying to explain "maybe" to a guy who only speaks in "yes" or "no". Good luck.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to watch basketball and wrestling at the same time
ReplyDeleteReally? Dang. Well, let's just all agree to still call it backlash.
ReplyDeleteBubba had one small window where he MIGHT have gotten over in WWE, during his mini-feud with HHH. But then he nearly killed HHH with a bad powerbomb(?) through a table... see RVD's Five Star Throat Crush.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen much from Bo Dallas, which is not to say I have not seem much of Bo Dallas.
ReplyDeleteI have a (probably unhealthy) amount of love for Emma.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Mania XX on DVD because I have it on DVD, I guess.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've seen it's actually a clever gimmick, that he's so arrogant he's totally tone-deaf to the fact that everyone hates him, and in fact believes he's the good guy.
ReplyDeleteIt's the heel gimmick I've always hoped Cena would use whenever he turns.
This week is going to be torture.
ReplyDeleteCaptain America, Game of Thrones, and WRESTLEMANIA are all this weekend. I'm pumped.
8 and 19
ReplyDeleteI'm so stoked for Captain America.
ReplyDeleteI think WrestleMania XIX, which I watched earler via THE NETWORK, looked better on my TV than WrestleMania XX does, which I'm watching via a DVD in my Blu-ray player.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, remember when John Cena was a fresh character?
Easy solution -- don't watch basketball :)
ReplyDeleteI hate Elimination Chamber matches (they're overly and unnecesarily dangerous to me) but I really enjoyed this year, which isn't surprising considering the level of worker that was in there. Sheamus was VERY GOOD in that match.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was lamenting the lazy booking of the Battle Royal in another thread, Sheamus specifically was someone I was thinking of wanting to see in his "own" match.
That's exactly how I feel. Right now the most over of them all is ALL of them together, so keep it that way for a while.
ReplyDeleteXX's probably better than 8, but there's no way they'd promote that as a "Top 5" show.
ReplyDeleteWas not aware. Looks like Troll Time for this thread is over though, finally.
ReplyDeleteRed Dead Redemption
ReplyDeleteI love love westerns and when I heard Rockstar was making one I have never been so pumped
It is one of my favorite games of all time.
After they tapped out and gave us Bryanpalooza in the Superdome? I'm DEFINITELY excited as Hell for WrestleMania this year, haha.
ReplyDeletePast wrestling events...WrestleMania VI was gigantic. It was Superman vs. Batman and every fellow six-year-old in my class couldn't wait.
Dean Ambrose is blacker than Mark Henry?
ReplyDeleteRoman Reigns is headed to ECW and Japan?
Sporting event: Illinois in the 2005 Final Four, after our epic comeback to beat Arizona in the Elite 8 the previous weekend. Let's just say not much got done that week.
ReplyDeleteMovie: I can't think of too many. I don't get hyped about movies. I guess The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
TV: The last eight episodes of Breaking Bad, the final season of The Shield.
Album: Probably Smashing Pumpkins' "Zeitgeist" in 2007. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing- as it turns out, it was pretty damn good- or anything, but they're by far my favorite musical act ever and it was their first new stuff in seven years. (Unless you want to count Zwan, and it was a Billy/Jimmy collaboration, so you might as well.)
I was super hyped for Star Trek XI. Then it was only...passable.
ReplyDeleteFor wrestling I gotta go with HHH/Rock Ironman, and a bunch of other stuff between those guys during that year. Most recently would have to be MitB 2011.
Bearer was only Kane's father
ReplyDeleteWwe creative, Vince and Dunn have NO ideahow to do subtlety.
ReplyDeleteWho gets the blame for this Edge calling his fans Edgeheads? Or Hogan and Hulkamaniacs?
ReplyDeleteHulkamaniacs was fine, because Hulk was a proven hero with a huge following. Edgeheads was more forced than a constipated turd.
ReplyDeleteDunno if it's been mentioned, but one of my favorite parts of the slow burn was Batista and HHH having some bet, which Batista won. HHH: Ok, pay him, Ric. Batista: No, not Ric. YOU pay me.
ReplyDeleteYep, and to sew the eventual face turn a little bit more, HHH had the chance to break up the pin on Batista but slumped down in the corner and chose not to.
ReplyDeleteAnd when Hunter was going to pay him. Batista went from angry intense to smirking, and told HHH, "Relax man, I was just kidding." My reaction from that moment was the same as Scott's, "Give this man the title NOW!!!"
ReplyDeleteOf course that moment requires a little suspension of disbelief, with Ric having $100 to pay someone on the spot. :p
Yeah I remember that RAW it was a tag match with Edge and Jericho, and he clotheslined Chris to the point where he was knocked out. Probably an angle thought up by Jericho to get someone over.
ReplyDeleteWhich is sad cause Dave as a heel has been killing it promo wise in the last few weeks. But unlike his heel persona in 2010 he can't back it up in the ring right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, that turn was so fabulous. My favorite visual of it all was when HHH won a match (I think on Raw) and Batista came in the ring to celebrate with him and raised Hunter's hand. With the belt high in the air, Batista took a glance up at it, and Hunter caught him looking at it. HHH's demeanor changes from celebration to "wait a minute, you're not thinking about MY title, are you?", while Batista just gives him a little confident smirk and continues with the celebration.
