In an interview with RedEye Chicago, he is referred to as a retired pro wrestler and says that it feels "good."

I wish Terry Funk did. That would have been really neat.
ReplyDeleteMight be why WWE let him go without a fight if Punk told them he was retiring.
ReplyDeleteHe seems pretty happy based on the interview and looked as miserable as could be the last few months he was in the WWE so it might be legit.
ReplyDeleteThis may or may not be true, but please bear in mind that the Red Eye is a tabloid which routinely labels countries incorrectly on the half page that they devote to foreign "news."
ReplyDeleteGood riddance. Maybe now people will wrap their heads around the idea that he left of his own accord and stop chanting his name as though it's going to change anything.
ReplyDeleteWrestling retirements are always serious. It's a shame this means the end of his career.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, if it's the end of it, more power to him for walking out healthy and on his terms before he ends up being a mess who's one tweak away from a serious health/injury issue.
El Torito has his first notch on his belt.
ReplyDeleteMike Johnson just reported the following:
ReplyDelete"As we expected when they were mentioned earlier today, WWE has removed CM Punk and AJ Lee from their talent list for the 7/29 Smackdown taping in Corpus Christi, Texas."
Wonder if AJ is done too
Unless Mick Foley wants a wrestlemania payday
ReplyDeleteI also wouldn't be surprised if Punk just didn't feel like correcting them when they said retired.
ReplyDeleteWrestling retirements and Arn Anderson's word: two things that are never, ever broken.
ReplyDeleteYeah. For all we know he is fucking with people who expect a return at Payback
ReplyDeleteDamnit. Beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteAJ is an idiot if she quits wrestling this young bc of punk.
ReplyDeleteThe marriage ain't going to last and then she's out of the wwe's good graces.
ReplyDeleteNot a good look, son.
As a big CM Punk fan, I'm surprised at how little I actually miss him on WWE TV.
ReplyDeleteWho needs Punk when you have Adam Rose, Alicia Fox, and Torito.
ReplyDeleteThey'll bring her back in a second if she wants to, no matter what she does with Punk.
ReplyDeleteHope he's/they're happy, though both are still listed on WWE's Roster page (but Bo Dallas, for one, isn't, so it is obviously due for an update).
ReplyDeleteI think people would be so much better with it if he just made an announcement, sent out a tweet, SOMETHING to let the fans know what's going on. It's the fans who bought tickets and merchandise that allow him to live the lifestyle he's currently enjoying.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteIf they get married she'll be fine. All she has to do is divorce him. He'll be forced to come back to work and she can stay at home and get alimony.
ReplyDeleteLOL... beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, he did. He said he's retired and enjoying being retired.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't owe fans anything.
ReplyDeletePre-nup? Or is Illinois not into that kind of thing?
ReplyDeletedon't forget the undertaker's str--
ReplyDeletenm
Pretty much Jack Brisco is the only one that ever retired and had it stick. I guess Shawn Michaels too.
ReplyDeleteyour NEW gwf champion...
ReplyDeleteOwen Hart too.
ReplyDeleteThey did a list about how much money the Divas are worth and AJ wasn't doing too badly on that list.
ReplyDeleteBo Dallas's deafening crowd reaction on RAW this past Monday blew out the speakers on my TV
ReplyDeleteThe fact he had been phoning it in his last three months in the company cushioned the blow
ReplyDeletetill he shows up on sunday at the ppv in chicago
ReplyDeleteexcept if he doesn't, then he won't
/meltzing
Steve Austin?
ReplyDeleteJeff Jarrett!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIllinois is a community property state, barring prenups. They probably have one just because each of them is bringing at at least some property.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Women's wrestling ain't a draw. She's not irreplaceable.
ReplyDeleteHe was forced out. I mean, Flair's last retirement has stuck because he can't do anything anymore. Hogan, too.
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE TALKING ABOUT HOW THERE WAS SUCH LITTLE REACTION FOR HIM THAT IT'S ALMOST AS IF THERE WAS NO SOUND WHATSOEVER, WHICH IS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOUR SPEAKERS BLEW OUT, AREN'T YOU?
ReplyDeletei bet you're talking about how there was such little reaction for him that it's almost as if there was no sound whatsoever, which is what would happen if your speaker blew out
Her popularity dwarfs every other diva right now it isn't even close.
ReplyDeleteNobody knows!
ReplyDeleteworked for Steve Austin.
ReplyDeleteWe just need a night thread called The Thread.
ReplyDeleteCrap, guess I forgot. It was Cena.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true.
ReplyDeleteI'm a BoD'er
