The spambots are getting completely out of hand lately, so I changed the Disqus settings to "verified e-mail only" which should hopefully curtail it. This also means that you need be a verified user and not a joke poster with a fake address, but then that's no big loss either. We'll see how this goes.
Let's hope it helps...
ReplyDeleteBut how will I learn about these money-making opportunities????
ReplyDeleteWhat about those of us with real addresses but nothing of substance to contribute?
ReplyDeleteAre we still good in this new, future ready BoD?
Do we get an alumni section of past BOD gimmicks?
ReplyDeleteSources indicate that Scott is attempting to stop senseless spamming. Plans may change.
ReplyDeleteGood idea.
ReplyDeleteSo here I am with my thoughts of you
ReplyDeleteAnd this world I've left for me
Stoic faces when I think of you
And how I once believed
So now you call me, but you know I won't let you through
I've myself to deceive
So leave the memories alone
I don't want to see
The way it is, as to how it used to be
Leave the memories alone, don't change a thing
And I'll hold you here in my memory
So I find me in your garden now
A sad smile for the scene
And all the flowers that we planted now
Taken by the weeds
But in my minds eye, you know they still bloom for me
They stand tall there, in that summer breeze
Leave the memories alone
I don't want to see
The way it is, as to how it used to be
Leave the memories alone, don't change a thing
And I'll just hold you here in my memory
In my memory, yeah
So leave the memories alone
I don't want to see
The way it is, as to how it used to be
Leave the memories alone, don't change a thing
And I'll hold you in my memory
You'll never change
You'll never change
You'll never change
You will never change
Oh my!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed the rise in spam boys coincided with the loss of WWE's profitability? I'm not entirely certain the spam bots aren't some plan from Vince to make lost money back?
ReplyDeleteOf maybe Scherer unleashed them to get back at Bayless for stealing his rumors?
Trish vs. Victoria vs. Jazz. WM XIX.
ReplyDeleteAt over 25,000 comments, I have to ask: does Abeyance have a job?
ReplyDeleteAm I verified?
ReplyDeleteI'm verified.
ReplyDeleteI just watch the rematch on Raw recently where Blayze wins back the title. It was good. But I think Blayze was tremendously overrated.
ReplyDeleteTrish and Steph at no way out was insane. They must have been working that match out for weeks ahead of time and practicing like Savage/Steamboat. Trish was nowhere near the worker she would become.
ReplyDeleteNo, he was hoping to learn of a successful online moneymaking scheme, but now Scott has shat all over that dream.
ReplyDeleteGuess I'm the only one who remembers this:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puo0KWn3q_4
The best Divas match ever hasn't happened yet because AJ hasn't wrestled Charlotte yet. Given time, that could be the Flar/Steamboat of Women's matches.
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteAnytime someone nearly kills themselves in the match, it takes it down a notch for me.
ReplyDeleteLita/Trish in trish's retirement match was better.
I haven't seen an Abeyance comment in this thread yet...
ReplyDeleteProbably not.
ReplyDeleteI can help you...
ReplyDeletePretty eye opening stuff. Really make you think.
ReplyDelete"This also means that you need be a verified user and not a joke poster"
ReplyDeleteSo much for Abeyance...
No way anything from TNA is the best anything, ever. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteHerb Kunze posts here?
ReplyDeleteFinally some justice around here.
ReplyDeleteCan't agree with you here.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some Sara Del Ray, and I've a seen what she's doing as a trainer in the divas division and I'm kinda pissed she isn't on TV.
ReplyDeleteRon Simmons deliberately derailed Ahmed from the start.
ReplyDeleteI just had a nice home made tuna salad sandwich on wheat for lunch.
ReplyDeleteSchiavone = gold, with or without the 'stache. In his prime he was better than JR. Second only to Gorilla.
ReplyDeleteThere will be lots of money left on the table.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth vs Sherri, Wrestlemania VII. Ok technically it wasn't a match but still....
ReplyDeleteI had a Chef Boyardee microwaveable beef ravioli. It was as good as you would think it was. Now to mow the backyard.
ReplyDeleteMan you really phoned it in with this comment. *1/2
ReplyDeleteNext step would be one of the main posters accounts getting hacked.
ReplyDeleteI never knew I verified. Yay.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. How/why can anyone post so god damned much?
ReplyDeleteWatching promos like that are why I can't understand people who think results and titles don't matter anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm bonafide!
ReplyDeleteSee No Evil 2, starring Kane, is a thing that's happening. So that explains the push.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess even still some stuff is gonna slip through the cracks.
ReplyDeleteI am verified.
ReplyDeleteJesus, is this thread going to become a bunch of "I'm verified!" posts?
ReplyDeleteHe's in school.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I wish they'd just cut WWE studios. Pushes to promote movies are completely ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone believe those stupid money-making schemes actually work?
ReplyDeleteHell no
ReplyDeleteI'm having leftover pork souvlaki and roasted veg from last night.
ReplyDeleteOk
ReplyDeleteIf you give me $100 today, I'll tell you how they exactly work! With your purchase, you must find three other people to join as well to unlock the super information and will make you at least $100,000 your first year!
ReplyDeleteAs with any spam, SOMEBODY must or else it wouldn't exist.
ReplyDeleteWill is correct.
ReplyDeleteI'm a real dead-ender when it comes to caring about results and titles being the most important thing, so I agree with you. At the same time, it helps having the best promo of all-time out there. Heck, even Magnum, who is nobody's idea of a primo talker, is able to sell a match and a title better than 90 percent of WWE's roster.
ReplyDeleteBest women's match period would be Akira Hokuto & Shinobu Kandori vs. Aja Kong & Bull Nakano, from the spring of '94.
ReplyDeleteNot counting Japanese women...I'm honestly hard-pressed to think of anything better than Charlotte vs. Natalya.
Pure class.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the bots here but there are sooooooooo many older adults new to the internet that are fooled by easy scams. If a programmer sends out some coding I'm sure it's worth it with the few suckers
ReplyDeleteA main event in my pants.
ReplyDeleteWhen Tony gave a shit, he was phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteVerified?
ReplyDeleteVerified!
ReplyDeleteSpam post:
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/M_eYSuPKP3Y
OF course I'm verified, GMail is the only EMAil service ever! Just like YouTube is the only video uploading site! Or Twitch is the only streaming site! Or Android is the only good cell phone creator! .......Something about what I'm saying doesn't seem right.....Oh well, sure its not important. ALL HAIL LORD GOOGLE!
ReplyDeleteYep. People seem to only remember Nitro-era Tony, but back when he gave a damn, there were few better than him. I think the passage of time and having to suffer through Cole/Lawler/JBL has given people a better appreciation of Tony's 80s to mid-90s mic work.
ReplyDeleteYou better start sharing that money on the table then. Those posts were trying to make us all rich.
ReplyDeleteI went to Burger King. I had a mushroom and Swiss big king. It wasn't great. But I only go there to get four refills of my soda from that awesome touch screen coke machine.
ReplyDeleteScott's Starrcade '95 review. The triangle match, Sting and Luger gets in the ring, and Tony effortlessly rattles off the last time they faced each other. SuperBrawl II, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Scott likened him to "Mike Tenay on steroids".
ReplyDeleteOkay! My VISA is 1234 5678 9012 3456
ReplyDeleteThat coke machine thing is insane! I want one in my apartment.
ReplyDeletePayback last year. Kaitlyn vs AJ -phenomenal, and they followed it up
ReplyDeletewith a good outing at MITB as well. Trish vs Stephanie from No Way Out in 2001 was very good. AJ vs Natty Neidhart from Main Event this year was really good. And the woman's match on each of the NXT specials have been fantastic as well.
"Joedust is correct."
ReplyDeleteFTFY.
What I don't get is whenever I get a spam e-mail, it's always a HUGE amount of money (like $16.4 million). I don't know how anyone could fall for that. Maybe if it was like "You inherited $20,000 from an overseas relative," it would be more believable.
ReplyDeleteI'm amplified.
ReplyDeleteThat was a mild inconvenience
ReplyDeleteWow, a free trojan just for me!
ReplyDeleteWhere do I sign up?
We all agreed at work one day that if we hit the lottery, one of our purcahses would be one of those coke machines in our home.
ReplyDeleteIf McDonalds had them I'd probably never eat anywhere else. Around here I can get them at Moe's, Qdoba, BK, Five Guys, Wawa and if I drive an hour... FUDRUCKERS.
Actually, if Fudruckers were closer, I'd never eat anywhere but THERE.
He's gonna fail out if he doesn't spend more time on his studies.
ReplyDeleteUnless it's a Liberal Arts degree.
Magnum won't be in the Hall of Fame, but what about his mullet?
ReplyDeleteThe spam on this blog must be the Komen Scam's latest attempt to raise money for "breast cancer research" (also known as the CEO's bank account).
ReplyDeleteThings are starting to get TNA in here. CROSS THE LINE!
ReplyDeleteWatching the first ever Raw/Smackdown draft. So many things make me sad here: First, Curt Hennig in obviously fucked up on something, and he's still doing some crazy athletic stuff.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Vince gets to pick first because he "won a coin toss." Seriously? They couldn't have booked a match to win the #1 pick? A Flair representative v. a Vince representative?
Third, they pick the Rock for Smackdown and he's gone a week later to promote movies, and soon to be gone forever.
Damnit, now I want to go to Fuddruckers.
ReplyDeleteI love how ESPN has had a proliferation of them since they required people to post via Facebook.
ReplyDeleteI actually got an e-mail from the fuckers who created the fake FBI virus a year ago. It was listed in my inbox as "From The FBI - Watch Video To Avoid Arrest".
ReplyDeleteI just laughed at it and said "fuck you" before deleting it without a second thought.
Gmail inboxes are the best when it comes to being able to get rid of that shit.
Huh.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that that was what they were going for yet both shows were equally awful until the end of the summer when Benoit and Eddie went to Smackdown and we got the Smackdown Six matches.
ReplyDeleteThe first WCW title match on WWF TV should have been Booker T v. DDP, not Booker T v. Buff Bagwell. And it should have happened the following week in Atlanta, not in Tacoma.
ReplyDeleteJust saying that.
Everything was pretty awful because they lost Rock and Austin right away, then the headline World title feuds were Hunter v. Hogan, Hogan v. Undertaker, and Undertaker v. Hunter.
ReplyDeleteFUCKZING TERRIBLE.
On the first "Old School RAW", Cowboy Bob Orton did a simple, no-frills interview with Mean Gene Okerlund that put the then-current roster to shame. Worse, the segment was clearly positioned to be a quaint "nostalgia moment", but Bob did a better job putting over his son AND the main event than all the video packages and 20-minute gabfests in the world. If you can get someone like me excited about a Randy Orton match, then you must be doing something right.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, simple is best. Not all the time, of course, but still.
It's remarkable how good the internet connection is out here in the bowels of the Himalayas.
ReplyDeleteIt was mentioned at Wrestlemania 11
ReplyDeleteIf Nash sticks around in 1996, do you think he ends the streat at WrestleMania 12?
ReplyDeleteHe was the captain of Team Johnny at WrestleMania 28.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the ESPN website since then.
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan was a seven time WCW champion?
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't sound right.
Wikipedia says six time WCW champion. Hmmm..... I need to investigate this.
ReplyDeleteProbably should have asked before I bought it, but is SDvRaw 09 any good?
ReplyDeleteI remember being so pissed at the time because I didn't get Smackdown, and the Raw roster looked horrible. But they ended up both sucking and I stopped watching soon after anyway.
ReplyDeleteI believe it's a former name for Thailand, aye.
ReplyDeleteMagnum vs. Flair wasn't planned for Starrcade '86. The original main events were:
ReplyDeleteWorld title: Ric Flair vs. Ron Garvin
U.S. title Steel Cage "I Quit": Nikita Koloff vs. Magnum TA
Night of the Sky-Walkers: Road Warriors vs. Midnight Express
World TV Title First Blood: Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard
World Tag Team Title Steel Cage: Rock & Roll Express vs. Arn & Ole Anderson
I assume Magnum wins the title during the 1987 Great American Bash tour and drops it to Flair as Starrcade '87. Magnum feuds with Barry Windham over the U.S. title in 1988 and Lex Luger in 1989. By 1991, Magnum winds up in the WWF.
Whatever you guys over there in The Colonies want to call yourselves is fine by me!
ReplyDeleteMeh, I thought they could've done better too.
ReplyDeleteThey show the packages they use to sell the PPV ON THE ACTUAL PPV. It makes zero sense.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Flair's, not Hogan's. But that's more on the NWA than Magnum.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know this? If Magnum wasn't supposed to be in the main event, why did they change the main event?
ReplyDeleteAnother in the "not necessarily the best, but certainly different" department: the Ivory/Tori hardcore match from a late-night Raw (due to the U.S. Open coverage pushing Raw back):
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa6r2_wwe-ivory-vs-tori-hardcore-match_tech
This match had a little fire and hatred to it, which is something that has always generally been lacking in the women's division. Sadly, the feud didn't go anywhere.
Trish/Mickie from WM22 is probably my favourite, with Mickie/Melina from Backlash and Kim/Terrell just behind. Kaitlyn/AJ from Payback and Melina/McCool from NOC are two good ones I haven't seen mentioned yet.
ReplyDeleteARggg lol
ReplyDeleteBefore the accident, Jim Crockett announced Dusty Rhodes or Ron Garvin would challenge Flair for the title at Starrcade. Leading up to Starrcade, Magnum had been feuding with Jim Garvin on tv. It was used to give him a house show opponent until the steel cage "I Quit" match.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the match listing is stuff I've heard over the years.
I really don't know. My inclination is to say that whoever it was is not currently on the roster, but I'm not sure at all.
ReplyDeleteStop the presses. Scott rated a midget match.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you stopped swallowing all that jizz.
ReplyDeleteheh.
Only high-heel shoes can blind the Hulkster, brother!
ReplyDeleteSince there are rarely any feuds, today's wrestlers rarely have a chance to cut any promos to push their feuds.
ReplyDeleteTitle vs career? Does that mean that they finish a Starrcade with Ronnie Garvin celebrating with the title?
ReplyDeleteWait, why Ron Garvin? If Magnum wasn't the plan, there'd be no reason it wouldn't still be Flair-Nikita.
ReplyDeleteDAMN!!
ReplyDeleteAl
ReplyDeleteNatalya vs Charlotte NXT this year, not the best of all time but it blows away anything done in the Divas division in the last 5 years
ReplyDeleteIt's good though when watching old shows. Reminds you of the reasons and lead up to the matches.
ReplyDeleteit feels "worthless" if they are just gonna ignore everything that happens in it for the movies.
ReplyDeletewhy be "emotionally invested" in something that is being portrayed as really not relevant?
They soooo need to bring back stadium shows..... watching the NWA at old Veterans Stadium was the best!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still maintain, he wins the title at Starrcade '86, Crockett remains in business at least another decade.
ReplyDeleteNah. Starrcade '86 comes and Flair retains in a Dusty finish and then retains again in their rematch.
ReplyDeleteBefore Magnum's accident, Jim Crockett announced either Garvin or Dusty would challenge Flair at Starrcade. JCP wasn't going with Flair vs. Dusty for the 3rd straight year, plus Dusty had been feuding with Tully most of the year. With Magnum-Nikita getting blown off at Starrcade, that left Garvin, who was over in JCP's main cities.
ReplyDeleteOh, you mean the people in charge of WWE? Because it seems like they're the main ones who simply cannot let go of that idea. The fans are willing to believe in the belts and in results, if only WWE would LET them.
ReplyDeleteDear lord, WWE stole the idea for Night of Champions from the AWA. This show proves it.
ReplyDeleteLove the story on the AWA DVD of how during the show, David Crockett is trying to sign AWA guys over to WCW, pure balls there.
ReplyDeleteI always love the explanation that the only reason Greg was never AWA World Champion was that whenever Verne announced plans to do it, every promoter under him (who knew what a disaster Greg as champion would be) threatened to quit if he went through with it.
ReplyDeleteI always forget you and Selby are British.
ReplyDeleteSigns certainly pointed to Magnum going Up North at some point. I wonder just what his gimmick or character would have been. I suppose in that timeframe guys still got to keep their ringnames for the most part.
ReplyDeletePraise Jebus.
ReplyDeleteBut that was always been the case -- the Star Wars movies have been ignoring the EU as far back as the original Marvel Comics Star Wars series. Millions of people watch the Star Wars movies. Thousands read the EU stuff. The movies will always be the priority.
ReplyDeleteDo you think it would be fair to the screenwriters of the new movies to force them to write new movies that fit within the context of hundreds of books, comics, and video games that a majority of the movie audience has no knowledge of? Who would want that job?
You can personally invest yourself in anything you want as "canon." Like Shadows of the Empire? Well, you can count that. Don't like the Jedi Academy books? Ignore them. Make your own personal canon with whatever you're happy with.
