Going to Stanford's home opener tomorrow against my older sister's alma mater, UC Davis. I'm a USC guy (not a good week to admit that) but never been to a CFB game in person before and the network had a couple of free comp tickets floating around, so why not? Should be fun, week 1 has to be pretty rowdy.
Character wise he was good, he just failed in the ring. His heel character in PWG is basically the same but he adds comedy. and that gives so much depth to him in there.
I keep hearing about how ROH was the best thing going on in wrestling, so I watched for a few months. Jay Lethal was the best they had to offer, along with the Briscoes. Like always, I guess I'm just late to the party.
I took a break, and once I heard Bad Influence was there I started watching again. What a waste of talent with Bad Influence. These guys need to be used right with some organization at some point.
He's also the Green Power ranger that has the cool golden shoulder pads, who also bangs the hot pink ranger. The sexually frustrated red ranger is Kyle O'reilly.
As much as a piece of vile shit Jay is, I think he's a better worker than his brother. He just looks believable psychopath,he might just acting like he is real life..
who really cares about michael sam making the team besides the rams and espn? No other 7th rounder has ever gotten this much coverage. It's worse than tebow and favre
So yeah, ROH used to put about about 30+ DVDs a year, and they were all PPV quality. They had one of the best rosters and bookers ever. I swear, I should review these shows just so people can get the full-effect.
I've seen just about every promotion, and I can honestly say no company, except maybe like AJPW, had a better run of 4 years than ROH did from a quality standpoint.
In terms of in ring quality, nothing will touch ROH from about 2005 or so until 2008ish. The only thing that I think comes close is NJPW from the past couple of years. WCW from 1992 might as well, but anything WWE, ECW, or TNA, NOPE.
The last show I ever attended/watched completely was Final Battle 08, only a couple of months into Scrap Daddy's booking run. Granted, I thought ROH had been declining a bit anyway, but I just wasn't into Pearce's vision. Didn't feel like ROH anymore. When I heard 96 year old Jerry Lynn won the title as a "thank you" for all he did (whatever that was), I was Seacrest-out for good.
Yeah I am halfway through Joe's reign as champ. Just finished his Briscoes feud actually. He and Mark had a hellacious cage match for the title at "At Our Best" or one of the Reborn Shows. Gruesome.
He put Gordy/Steve Williams on top of the card and despite them being great workers, they weren't nearly as hot as the Dangerous Alliance or Sting or Steamboat.
"After putting the first episode of their new animated series Cheap Pops online, WWE has already removed the episode from both WWE.com and YouTube. The low-fi animated series came from LowBrow Studios and the first episode included humorous takes on Kane getting a makeover, Brock Lesnar going hunting and former WWE character Adam Bomb visiting the doctor."
I seriously do. And I don't hate many people. It takes a lot to get me to hate someone. I don't even hate "Reign of Terror" era Triple H(just dislike) but I seriously hate Dana White. Everything he says fuels my rage more.
Aside from being a douche, he just comes off incredibly childish. One minute he's a guys best friend then he shits all over them. He openly trashes people on his roster. He says crazy lies like Ronda is the UFC's biggest star ever.
DGUSA has to be one of the biggest letdowns in the last 5 years. Their first two PPVs were show of the year contenders, then the PPVs slowly began to suck after that.
So Bray's program with Y2J is cut a month short and it's obvious creative has no idea what to do with him in the meantime.
Roman's program with Randy Orton is also shortened but they simple let him steal Dean Ambrose's heat and feud with Seth Rollins instead. Funny how that works.
Months ago Bray vs. Reigns would've been a match people would pay to watch. Now they are the opening match on Smackdown. 50/50 booking and putting stars vs stars for free on TV is destroying the product.
Kyle Fitta • an hour ago What's the difference between cancer and Vince Russo? One kills people, the other kills wrestling companies.
Joseph Collins Kyle Fitta • 18 minutes ago Look at WCW BEFORE Vince Russo. It was boring and sucked. If anything Russo's been keeping WWE, TNA and WCW alive lol
The used game store near me has Dreamcasts for $35. Comes with a/v, power cord, and a controller. I've wanted to collect Dreamcast stuff and might start.
Wish they made consoles like they used to, my PS3 has died 3 times now and compared to some of my friends who bought 360's that's almost a good number.
Also, I remembered in a thing you said earlier about UFC only needing like 15-20 guys per weight class: That number might need to be a bit higher when you factor in regional draws like the Chinese/European/etc fighters
After what happened with Sin Cara, I say better safe than sorry. But you're right, Zayn needed nothing more than a a stopover. He's been there like 6 months hasn't he?
I'm of the opinion that UFC should run a MAXIMUM of 20-25 shows a year so i stick by my Top 15 contenders per weight class plus 40 or so spots for everyone else roster. 200 fighters fight twice a year = 400 fights which is enough for 35 or so events.
Ever since HHH really took charge of NXT with the creation of the full development centre it's clear there's been a bit of a "power struggle" behind the scenes and Vince and by proxy Dunn are doing their best to discredit all NXT call-ups.
Over 150K? UFC 174 with Demetrious Johnson and a co-main event with Rory and Woodley(two guys with higher name value than anyone on this card) barely did 100k. And Mighty Mouse is still a bigger draw than Dillashaw and his 2-day opponent. This will be lucky to do over 90k
I did an interesting thing in WMMA(A text-based MMA promotion sim), where I ran shows based off weight classes. So one show is Lightweights only, next Welter, etc. I had a roster roughly that size, ran like 11-12 fights a card (except in an early UFC mod where I ran tourneys and prelim bouts with the scrubs), and made bank because there wasnt a "Light guys don't draw unless reasons" factor in the game.
Well if their previous system drew 400K per PPV, they cna justify this with quantity of cards. Of course, they kill the business in the long run, but MMA was starting to have people fall off the bandwagon for other reasons anyways (Like not delivering hyped fights because assholes don't want to break camps.)
Dolph Ziggler is a lost cause and WWE should send him down to NXT to job to Adrian Neville for a couple of months before redebuting Dolph as The Red Rooster Jr. so he can cut passionate promos of himself going COCKADOODLEDOO and he can finally get rid of his pink homoerotic ring gear. The WWE will never trust him due to his sloppy work which ends up with him getting a concussion every couple of months... If they dont send Dolph down to NXT then they should just release him after he jobs out to younger talent for the next few months.
In football news, looks like Michael Sam has made the Rams.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Bengals cut BenJarvus Green-Ellis
The Firm will land elsewhere but the #1 RB there (blanking on his name ATM) was ready to take the full time gig
ReplyDeleteBernard and they drafted Jeremy Hill

ReplyDeleteWhat's the WWE equivalent of todays UFC debacle?
ReplyDeleteJohn Cena bowing out of his match with Brock Lesnar at Night Of Champions and being replaced by Adam Cole?
What do you have against Adam Cole?
ReplyDeleteIt's the freakin weekend baby bout to have me some fun. Can I get a toot toot? What about a beep beep?
ReplyDeleteHe was subpar in the ring in his world title run.
ReplyDeleteEverything in ROH is subpar.
ReplyDeleteThere are some brights spots: Cedric, Elgin, Briscoes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what happened, but his world title run was a fucking disaster.
ReplyDeleteThose are far from brightspots: Elgin has been exposed in long matches and the Briscoes have been stale forever.
ReplyDeleteMFK
ReplyDeleteBaby Doll
Precious
Madusa (Alundra Blaze)
Fuck the Briscoes. Well, Jay anyway, that homophobic piece of shit. Wouldn't surprise me if he's getting dicked down by another man.
ReplyDeleteI prefer early 90s R Kelly.
ReplyDeleteMy mind's telling me no,
But my body...
My body's telling me yeah.....
Character wise he was good, he just failed in the ring. His heel character in PWG is basically the same but he adds comedy. and that gives so much depth to him in there.
ReplyDeleteUntil ESPN decided to tell us of his shower habits, it seems like Michael Sam was becoming a non-story.
ReplyDeleteWho cares? Jason Collins signed with the Nets and nothing happened. Just a lot of fouling
Adam Rose and Michael Cole are tag team champs now?
ReplyDeleteROH is just a mess right now.
ReplyDeleteoverall, I'd take 90s R. Kelly, but that album itself may top anything he's done.
ReplyDeleteSome guy on Reddit created a script to find the hidden Nitro episodes from the Network before they get added this coming week.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone interested in a link to said Reddit post? They contain direct links to each episode.
I disagree, Elgin had a good bouts with Steen and AJ this year, besides Cole ladder match vs Jay, Elgin was the only one he had a good match.
ReplyDeleteIt has been since 2009. Adam Pearce booking and then Jerry Lynn winning the title was the end of what was one of the best quality promotions ever.
ReplyDeleteHow many are they adding? Was the 100 hours rumour legit?
ReplyDeletem - precious
ReplyDeletef - madusa
k - baby doll
I saw your post from the Luger/Hogan episode. Sure, I'll take a link por favor.
ReplyDeleteSo far the guy has found the first 16 episodes. So I guess we will be getting them in chronological order.
ReplyDeleteYou just have no idea what ROH used to be.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing about how ROH was the best thing going on in wrestling, so I watched for a few months. Jay Lethal was the best they had to offer, along with the Briscoes. Like always, I guess I'm just late to the party.

No, Adam "You're from Florida, we fucking get it" Cole from ROH.
ReplyDelete2004-08 is gold, especially 05 and 06.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.reddit.com/r/wwenetwork/comments/2exqht/found_another_nitro_episode/
ReplyDeleteI'll admit that, I started in the Generico vs Steen feud.
ReplyDeleteEpisodes 2 and 8 are found elsewhere in the sub-reddit.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI started when they got bought by Sinclar.
ReplyDeletethen or now?
ReplyDeleteI took a break, and once I heard Bad Influence was there I started watching again. What a waste of talent with Bad Influence. These guys need to be used right with some organization at some point.
ReplyDeleteHe's also the Green Power ranger that has the cool golden shoulder pads, who also bangs the hot pink ranger. The sexually frustrated red ranger is Kyle O'reilly.
ReplyDeleteHe says that in PWG.

ReplyDeleteYou re-subbed a few days early. They were being uploaded this week.
ReplyDeleteI didn't re-sub yet lol. I am now though. Arg!
ReplyDeleteMark is my favorite. One of the few instances of comedy done right in pro wrestling. His Christmas teeth promo on the internet was friggin epic!
ReplyDeleteStill working for free. Not *officially* re-subscribing until my free stuff ends.

ReplyDeleteAs a bruin, I haven't been this excited for a season since 1998 (my first year at ucla).
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Amy Jo Johnson looks these days. Ariana Richards (Lex from Jurassic Park) is a fucking dimepiece all grown up.

ReplyDeleteK the Perfect Ten?
ReplyDeleteI would watch an ROH show every now and then from like 2006 until 2012 or so. Not every show but like 5-6 a year. They were all really good.
ReplyDeleteF:Madusa
ReplyDeleteM: Precious
K: Baby Doll
Must... find....torrents.
ReplyDeleteI've seen just about every promotion, and I can honestly say no company, except maybe like AJPW, had a better run of 4 years than ROH did from a quality standpoint.
ReplyDeleteI second this.
ReplyDeleteIt just occurred to me me that Nikki Bella wishes her own mother had a miscarriage. That's fucked up.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of in ring quality, nothing will touch ROH from about 2005 or so until 2008ish. The only thing that I think comes close is NJPW from the past couple of years. WCW from 1992 might as well, but anything WWE, ECW, or TNA, NOPE.
ReplyDeleteI've got all the ROH shows from 2002-2006. I've just started 2004 now and they've just settled into a great rhythm and it's been awesome to watch.
ReplyDeleteJoe as champ?
ReplyDeleteThe last show I ever attended/watched completely was Final Battle 08, only a couple of months into Scrap Daddy's booking run.
ReplyDeleteFirst I hope Renan Barao is okay because he apparently passed out and hit his head.
ReplyDeleteBut I am enjoying this so much. That's how much I dislike Dana White. That dumpster fire of a PPV just became an even bigger dumpster fire.
I don't understand why he just doesn't do 12 PPV's a year and MAYBE 6 Fight Nights/UFC on FOX shows. They could easily cut 2/3 of the roster.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am halfway through Joe's reign as champ. Just finished his Briscoes feud actually. He and Mark had a hellacious cage match for the title at "At Our Best" or one of the Reborn Shows. Gruesome.
ReplyDeleteWCW's hot streak in 1992 only lasted 6 months. Bill Watts' booking was outdated and pissed people off.
ReplyDeleteHave I ever mentioned I despise Dana White? Probably, right?
ReplyDeleteFuck Dana White.
Greed, that's the reason. Gekko was wrong, greed is evil.
ReplyDeleteNobody wanted five 25 minute tag matches on every show. LETS HOOK EM UP!
ReplyDeleteI had just started watching ROH a few months before Jerry Lynn won the title. That sucked horribly.
ReplyDeleteI basically quite following UFC when Brock left, so serious question: Why does everyone hate him so much?
ReplyDeleteHe put Gordy/Steve Williams on top of the card and despite them being great workers, they weren't nearly as hot as the Dangerous Alliance or Sting or Steamboat.
ReplyDeleteThat guy's pretty damn awesome.
ReplyDeleteDana? Because he's a giant douche.
ReplyDelete"After putting the first episode of their new animated series Cheap Pops online, WWE has already removed the episode from both WWE.com and YouTube. The low-fi animated series came from LowBrow Studios and the first episode included humorous takes on Kane getting a makeover, Brock Lesnar going hunting and former WWE character Adam Bomb visiting the doctor."
ReplyDeleteMatch listing for tonight's Smackdown:
ReplyDeleteRoman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
Seth Rollins vs. RVD
Non-Title Match: Paige © vs. Emma
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger
Jimmy Uso vs. Stardust
Non-Title Match: Sheamus © vs. Damien Sandow
Doesn't look too bad.
She never did much for me. Probably that voice. Such a turn-off
ReplyDeleteYeah, I meant Dana. Fair enough, then.
ReplyDeleteI seriously do. And I don't hate many people. It takes a lot to get me to hate someone. I don't even hate "Reign of Terror" era Triple H(just dislike) but I seriously hate Dana White. Everything he says fuels my rage more.
ReplyDeleteI've got to the point where I won't even watch his interviews, because I can't stand the horseshit that comes out of his mouth.
ReplyDeleteWyatt is now JTTS.
ReplyDeleteAside from being a douche, he just comes off incredibly childish. One minute he's a guys best friend then he shits all over them. He openly trashes people on his roster. He says crazy lies like Ronda is the UFC's biggest star ever.
ReplyDeletejust thinking the same thing. They've just given up on him.
ReplyDeleteThought RVD quit again?
ReplyDeleteI wish Tito and Dana would have fought way back when. It's come to the point where I side with TITO ORTIZ.
ReplyDeleteDGUSA has to be one of the biggest letdowns in the last 5 years. Their first two PPVs were show of the year contenders, then the PPVs slowly began to suck after that.
ReplyDeleteWay to go WWE, kill another ME caliber future.
ReplyDeleteMy thing with Dragon Gate Japan or USA is that if you've seen one show, you've seen them all.
ReplyDeleteDragon Gate Japan is having a nice year from what I've seen, but it works on small doses.
ReplyDeleteCesaro, Ryback, Bray, who else?
ReplyDeleteThat became the problem. Every show felt the same, and their weren't any real angles being developed.
ReplyDeleteSame thing with EVOLVE.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose.....just give it time.
ReplyDeleteBarrett, Ziggler.
ReplyDeleteBigger shithead: Dana White, Fidel Goodell, or Bernie Eccelstone? Has to be Bernie, but the other two are making a huge push for the top spot.
ReplyDeleteI watched one Evolve show and I was bored to death.
ReplyDeleteThey're basically the same thing now.
ReplyDeleteSo Bray & Jack Swagger are now being actively buried.
ReplyDeleteWay to go WWE.
Gary Bettman
ReplyDeleteDana by a mile. Not even Goodell bothers me as much as Dana does.
ReplyDeleteLOL Bray is curtain jerking on Smackdown.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he is. This is where I get my info on daily updates.
ReplyDeleteThey have not uploaded any significant shows in almost two weeks.
He's right up there too.
ReplyDeleteWWE just can't see that making guys like Bray jobbers is the reason they're product is so stale.
ReplyDeleteSo Bray's program with Y2J is cut a month short and it's obvious creative has no idea what to do with him in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteRoman's program with Randy Orton is also shortened but they simple let him steal Dean Ambrose's heat and feud with Seth Rollins instead. Funny how that works.
Months ago Bray vs. Reigns would've been a match people would pay to watch. Now they are the opening match on Smackdown. 50/50 booking and putting stars vs stars for free on TV is destroying the product.
ReplyDeleteWatching the first episode of Nitro now. As bad as that show got at times, it still makes me wish we could go back.
ReplyDeleteUpvote for anyone who provides a link to the actual video.
ReplyDeleteWe need jobber matches and lower card guys matches.
ReplyDeleteIf you side with crybaby Tito, it must be bad.
ReplyDeleteSubmission match! Haw! How can Jack Swagger lose this and maintain any semblance of being a star?
ReplyDeleteHe's a promoter. Did you expect anything better?
ReplyDeleteSmackdown main events should be like Miz vs. Swagger or Usos vs. Slater Gator.

Someone replied to me saying that. Russo has kept TNA, WCW, and WWE alive!

ReplyDeleteThat guys' response has left me speechless.
ReplyDeleteMade it to the middle castle in world 5 of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It gets hard as hell from this point on.
ReplyDeleteThat game sucks.
ReplyDeleteFor those that saw 2004-2008 ROH, what was their best angle?
ReplyDeleteCZW vs. ROH.
ReplyDeleteHEY HEYYYYYY HEYYYYYY HEY
ReplyDeleteSecond best?
ReplyDeleteThat cage of death match was awesome. Daniel Bryan as the scumbag weasel was great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat game is awesome. I bet you hate it only bc baby Mario's crying is annoying. Turn the sound off if that is the case.

ReplyDeleteWish they made consoles like they used to, my PS3 has died 3 times now and compared to some of my friends who bought 360's that's almost a good number.
ReplyDeleteThe Prophecy/Second City Saints is an awesome feud with a great payoff.
ReplyDeleteSo apparently Soto had a fight 3 weeks ago and stepped up for this tilt vs Dillashaw. The guy has moxie, you gotta give him that.
ReplyDeleteThat PPV is fucked.
ReplyDeleteIf I have to turn the sound off to play it then it sucks. And even on mute it sucks.
ReplyDeleteI gotta buy these DVD when I start working, will they ship DVD to Brazil?
ReplyDeleteWWE might as well debut Zayn and Steen as a tag team.
ReplyDeleteEh, UFC employs 500 plus tomato cans so if you get a title shot you might as well take it.
ReplyDeleteWorst case scenario, you raise your profile and get a nice payday.
Unless you're a huge Sega mark don't bother. Great system, terrible library.
ReplyDeleteYou can find everything on XWT.
ReplyDeleteThen break them up in a shitty angle, instead of the awesome feud they had.
ReplyDeleteI tried to sign but they don't let me in, need to have some sort of invitation.
ReplyDeleteSteen-Genrico is the only feud I've enjoyed in ROH in 5 years.
ReplyDeleteIt's just as well. Barao shouldn't have got an immediate rematch anyways.

ReplyDeleteRob Van Dam - "Same Ol Shit! Same Ol Shit! Same Ol Shit!"
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Generico is still in NXT despite being the best worker WWE has is an example of everything wrong with that company.
