Scott,
How completely stupid would it be to have Lesnar lose at Night of Champions? Would you rank it higher than their stupid decision to have him lose his first match back against Cena? Or would this be even worse?
I would call it a strange decision, but I can at least understand the mindset if they do. Pop a big Network number and then go back to the touring champ model. Plus Brick is already damaged goods now to a degree, so it's less of a big deal.
I lawl'd at "Brick."
ReplyDeleteOnce you love lamp, there's no going back
ReplyDeleteIf his voice gets any higher only dogs will hear him.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, was it ever proven that a woman's menstrual period will attract bears?
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Brick doesn't lose at NOC. Just get ready for that THE CHAMP IS HERE promo to start Raw.
ReplyDeleteAs an attraction, Brock has no value past the Cena rubber match. He will come back around Rumble time.
ReplyDeleteNo one is watching Raw in about 2 weeks anyway....why waste Brock against football?
It's stupid they're even having the match.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be like Brock coming out all black and blue after getting slaughtered by Cain and telling Joe Rogan he wants to invoke his rematch clause.
The really haven't established a glaring weakness that an opponent can exploit besides shit booking (prior to this year of course).
ReplyDeleteThey are assuming it will save the Network renewals but I think they are going to just get slaughtered. They'll be under 500k until the Rumble which is where they should focus things. They should treat the first three months of football season as basically a write off and focus on touring internationally to make revenue.
ReplyDeleteHe was definitely damaged by ending Undertakers Streak, then by rag dolling the most dominant guy in the company for the last ten years in consecutive matches.
ReplyDeleteBrock's weakness is that he beat Cena in his last match and you are only allowed to win every other match against people in WWE.
ReplyDeleteThey should have that as a character... like let it be known that he is the booker backstage and he just rewrites the finish mid match so that he goes over.
ReplyDeleteAnd he knows that because he is a heel he is immune to your shenanigans since trying to give him comeuppance will get you a punishment match against Kane.
ReplyDeleteYeah maybe so, I just hope Vince looks at Brock differently than that.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, in two matches, Brock has become the most dominant person in the history of professional wrestling.
ReplyDeleteI can still see Cena getting the win back, but I won't like it one bit. I want Lesnar as champ for the next 5 years.
Sounds like the Powers That Be and Creative Control in 99 WCW. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI would have Rollins help cena win so then Rollins could cash in
ReplyDeleteSo kill an actual money maker for the company for a guy they have no idea about yet?
ReplyDeleteBut if Brock doesn't have the title then he won't make the 'E tons of money by never appearing at any place where people can pay money to see him!
ReplyDelete/BoDlogic
"Brick, where'd you get a hand grenade?"
ReplyDeleteIf only he'd been kept fresh by appearing sporadically and been given one of the greatest talkers ever as a manager, too.
ReplyDeleteThe money's in the chase, depending on who you ask and how they feel that day.
ReplyDeleteCena is the only guy currently on the roster that could believably beat him but it's taken 12 years of SuperCena to build him up as a potential winner.
ReplyDeleteHe's talking pre-2014.
ReplyDeleteThe money, if there is money in the current business model, is in Lesnar. Rollins would be perfect for the Big Belt if it were still around.
ReplyDeleteJust 9.99 for a chance to see the champ in action this month!
ReplyDeleteDo people even go to house shows to see the champ, though? I think Cena would draw at those whether he's the champion or not. People know they're not gonna see a title switch.
ReplyDeleteBrick! My sweet Brick! Come give me a hug, I know you want to!
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about the damaged goods argument is it always works! He could squash a returning Bryan, Punk, Rock, Hogan, Flair, Austin, Goldberg, Reigns, Rollins, Ambrose, eliminate everyone one from the Rumble by throwing them into the crowd and STILL be damaged.
ReplyDeleteAnd he'll be even further damaged if Cena gets in more than 5% of the offense at NoC (let alone if the match is remotely competitive).
brick has actually been booked pretty strongly this past fews weeks, 1st against ambrose and then against kane
ReplyDeletehe even did decided to show up by the announce table to do commentary while taking out kane
Well, Brick DID kill a guy.
ReplyDelete"Do people even go to house shows"
ReplyDeleteftfy
Brick? Damaged goods? Nah...Axl was when Cassidy dumped him. ($5000 fake dollars or lose one Whammy to those who get this)
ReplyDeleteFYI, all of my NWA-TNA Weekly PPV era reviews are being posted on placetobenation.com, along with my RoH reviews.
ReplyDeleteThe answer? COMPLETELY FUCKING STUPID. So, the RAW after NOC? THE CHAMP...IS...HERE!
ReplyDeleteTremendous rant. Bryan and Vinny's hatred is the only thing I miss about Russo.
ReplyDeleteBy having Cena's argument against Brick be that he's a selfish mercenary followed up by said mercenary beating Cena to a pulp, they've really upped the intrigue! Wait, no. People were cheering said hilarious beating. This booking makes Cena look like Christian a few years ago when he used legal trickery to keep getting rematches. The face doesn't rely on lawyers.
ReplyDeleteI think Brock might lose at NoC but not to Cena. My guess is Rollins might cash in and get the title.
ReplyDeleteIt being a competitive match now won't hurt Brock at all. I mean it's not like Cena will treat it the same in storyline terms.
ReplyDeleteI think Brick has regained any momentum lost since Summerslam 2013 when he beat Punk. Ending the streak and squashing the franchise player two matches in a row will do that for ya. As long as they keep Lesnar champ and formidable by Wm31it will be a HUGE deal when he is dethroned. Unless something drastic happens there is no way Cena wins this.. I think the next step for him is to question his abilities and will to win once he loses...teasing a desperate Central turning heel without you know ..doing it cause business and all that. It wouldn't be the same as 2012 when he kept losing but never changed or questioned his character.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think (and fear) that WWE is in a mode now where they make projections, crunch numbers, come up with a low end business model they are comfortable with, and that's all they shoot for. They may talk publicly about achieving a certain level of success, but internally they expect the lowball level. Thus the numbers may show that Cena getting the belt back, finishing the year with it, and saving Lesnar for one last match at WrestleMania will be the safest route to getting them to their safe profit zone. And as with every year for the last decade or so the product will get a little staler, business will dip a little more, the WWE Universe will contract, and WWE will wonder what went wrong...
ReplyDeleteHe's loyal too, serving as the timekeeper's table alltthose years...
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, I really want to see Seth cash in at NoC because I might be there live and getting to see one of my favorite indy wrestlers win the big one, and NOT after horrendous booking aka ROH, would be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI could see them giving Cena the title one more time just to tie Flair but I highly doubt we get Cena/Brock again at Mania.
ReplyDeletebeing forced to stay under a hood the entire time, at that
ReplyDeletebrick really is a freak of nature
ReplyDeletelook at him: he's built like, well, a brickhouse. no one even compares.
and since no one else is even close to being thick as brick, i really don't mind if you sit this one out
How is Brock damaged goods? Dude DESTROYED Cena and is reigning champ. If that's damaged goods, I wish I had that tag.
ReplyDeleteBesides Heyman used Brock's medical issues as an excuse for his 2012 loss which makes storyline sense.
ReplyDeleteFrom PWI:
ReplyDelete"- There has been talk within WWE for about 6-8 weeks that John Cena is still having problems with his shoulder but is now having more problems with his neck. These are longterm nagging issues that Cena has been dealing with.
It was also said that there are a lot of people within WWE keeping an eye on Cena to see where he will be going forward in regards to acting and not wrestling as much.
There are also people within WWE who say Cena appears to be in pain and they believe Cena has slowed down physically in the way he moves."
If true then I highly doubt Cena's getting the title back anytime soon. If they want a full time guy to have it they've got Rollins
At the very least I hope the NOC match is, you know, an actual match. That would be cool.
ReplyDeleteThough I do quite enjoy watching people call a series of punches, knees, and german suplexes a classic, shit's hilarious.
cena's neck and shoulders are hurting from always holding his head high
ReplyDeleteI agree. It'll either be Reigns, or--if Vince gets his way--the Rock.
ReplyDeleteThere's little appeal to Cena/Lesnar IV after Night of Champions... unless they're planning on having Cena come close but still lose, then pushing Lesnar over the entire company and bringing Cena back because he's the only one who did get close. But you've already spoiled the story because Lesnar is up 2-1. The 4th encounter will be their 3rd in a year, and it'd leave them tied 2-2, with everyone going in knowing #LOLCENAWINS.
Just announcing the match at NoC has lessened the number of potential main events they could have chosen from at WrestleMania, and depending on how they actually book the match could ruin them all.
Tremendous.
ReplyDeleteYou realize all the HARDCORES ordered the Network right away anyway and will keep it. The CASUAL fans, the ones you want to hook into renewing, ordered April 1st for Mania and will already have Night of Champions. October is the true "hook" month but the WWE Network is ran by fired MTV media execs so LOL.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to the Rock, assuming that story is even true it never said Vince wanted Rock to be champ, just that he wanted him to face Brock at Mania.
ReplyDeleteDamaged goods? Brock is currently booked as the most dominant WWE champion since like Hulk Hogan 1987.
ReplyDeleteso what you're saying is that wwe needs to offer true hookers in order to hook casuals
ReplyDeleteLook, there's one indication that Brock Lesnar is losing the title at Night of Champions that can't be ignored.
ReplyDeleteMy attendance.
Nothing goes right when I attend WWE pay per views. When I was 13, I was sold on the idea of attending NWO 2000 in Hartford based on principle that it was going to be Cactus Jack's last match; Foley returned in five weeks. Ditto Flair; he puts on a t-shirt and wrestles for TNA.
Stoked about finally attending a Royal Rumble...had no intention of attending Punk's final match.
I can't be stopped.
That's what I'm saying: They have Lesnar lose the belt back to Cena, then bring him in for a match at WrestleMania. Either a marquee match against the Rock that wrestling fans won't really care about but will get some mainstream press & draw some casual fans; or in a match to put over Roman Reigns that won't mean a fraction what it would if Lesnar had gone undefeated and were still champion.
ReplyDeleteIf only Billy Robinson and Lou Thesz were still with us.
ReplyDeleteThe Middle?
ReplyDeleteRollins almost has to try it, as his impediment is off shooting a bad movie injured. In kayfabe terms it's time to cash in.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone here watch that Lesnar/Cena countdown to SummerSlam special on the Network? It was so awesome I watched it 3 times. I got genuinely pumped for that match. You watch that, see what they did in the match between the two at SummerSlam, and a clear, exciting narrative emerged. The minute they announced the rematch at Night of Champions felt like massive gears grinding to a halt, and the WWE machine suddenly turning in a new direction. Now not only am I not looking forward to NoC, I'm starting to doubt I'll have any interest in the product again til around the Royal Rumble.
ReplyDeleteI figured he was going to lose at Summer Slam, and not only did he get the W but it was in a fantastic ass kicking fashion......so I wouldnt be too upset with him losing it back at NOC.
ReplyDeleteBut when the time came for him to shine, he crumbled under pressure, injuring other wrestlers. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
ReplyDeleteRock never got his rematch you know
ReplyDeleteDo you even have a career plan?
ReplyDeletewat
ReplyDelete50/59 booking. Who cares ever? Why bother doing anything? How nihilist of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd he broke the streak. Dude was mishandled for a while but the mystique is back.
ReplyDeletePut THAT on a tiny towel and sell it.
ReplyDeleteKOOGLER
ReplyDeleteThis is their chance to build a monster heel. They can't screw it up.
ReplyDeleteI attended Mania 30 live so maybe me being at NoC will counteract your bad luck?
ReplyDeletePunk wore a Gracie Jui-Jitsu hoodie for like the entire last year in the company before his matches.
ReplyDeleteThat's the catch-22 of bringing him in. He brings eyeballs and money but he's also a trained murderer, so what do you do?
ReplyDeleteI believe you move more towards Lesnar, not away.
During the first boom, fans thought wrestling was real, everything about it. During the second boom, fans knew wrestling was fake, but were still hoodwinked into thinking certain aspects were real, whether that be ECW, Austin or the nWo. In 2014 fans know none of it is real, nothing. The only thing close to being real is Lesnar because he's proven it in an atmosphere that is 100% real. Lesnar makes guys like Miz and Ziggler look so bad because it's so obvious that their fake.
That's a 5.
ReplyDeleteA gift from Eve Mendes I presume.
ReplyDeleteI do think that - even with his recent super-awesome booking - he's not the draw that he could have been without the first few losses.
ReplyDeleteSure, in kayfabe/canon, he basically refocused and is now the unmitigated beast that he always should have been, but I do think that there was a LOT of money left on the table.
I will except my fake $5000 in bitcoin
ReplyDeleteWatched this show live with a bunch of former co-workers, only about half of them wrestling fans, and this combined with the Bryan/Cena match HAD to have converted at least one of them. When I have more free time I'm gonna have to watch both of those matches again, because although I remember loving them both I *also* remember being fucked-in-half drunk by the main event so everything from the PPV is kind of a blur.
ReplyDeletehttp://fighterxfashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/cm-punk-gracie-jiu-jitsu.jpg
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks like he trains in it.
Not only may Cena be the only current guy... he's one of a handful of people in the kayfabe history of wrestling that can beat 2014 Brock Lesnar.
ReplyDeleteBrock Lesnar is the level 99 final boss of wrestling.
He never appeared at any of those places WITHOUT the title, either.
ReplyDeleteThat is an incredible way of putting it. Please trademark that phrase before i put it on a t shirt and make millions.
ReplyDeleteThe only wrestler I would put in the 99 catagory is 1993 Vader. Booked just as strong as Lesnar is now.
Well, it's an aspect of the match that wasn't promoted well if at all prior to the it.
ReplyDeleteI'd have rather it not had the Goldbergference, but that's honestly just nitpicking. While I'd have liked to have seen Eddie win the match clean (well, "clean" for Eddie anyway) it doesn't really take anything away from the overall quality. And considering the Goldie/Brock feud started at the Rumble, this was a logical progression of the storyline. It's not the E's fault that both guys decided to quit/not renew.
ReplyDeleteOh, they can, and they probably will.
ReplyDeleteI totally expect Brock to lose the title at "WM31", and I'm actually a bit sad about that - he got just about the biggest rub possible by beating Taker, and then he completely steamrolled Cena, almost seems a waste to trade all of that in just a few months later.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally on-board with the "part-time" champion that you have to pay to see, but I also realize that it would be almost impossible to keep the momentum going past WM. I'd love to see him hold it until next year's "Summerslam", thereby making it an almost WM-level PPV, but I think we'd all grow bored with the idea by then.
More detrimental than Cena beating Lesnar in his first match back?
ReplyDeleteIt's the WWE. They seem to hear that as more of a challenge than a statement of fact.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even put Vader on that list.
ReplyDeleteI'm talking like '89 Hogan, '90 Warrior, MAYBE '96 Bret for wrestling skills, '98 Austin, '98 Goldberg... not much else.
1990 Warrior?
ReplyDeleteRematch Clause should be the name of a ppv
ReplyDeleteThey mentioned Punk's Jui-Jitsu background in practically every match.
ReplyDeleteI always take a wait and see approach. At the very least NoC should be intriguing, and isn't that what we want in wrestling?
ReplyDeleteTotally disagree.
ReplyDeleteFrom a kayfabe perspective, Cena is embarrassed and wants to prove that the one-sided nature of the match was a fluke, not to mention that, being who he is, he kinda just deserves a rematch.
From a business perspective, they're both great wrestlers that have put on two great matches with each other (one a 5* brawl, the other more of a 5* story), they're the two biggest draws the company has at the moment, and they want people to re-up on the Network. Makes total sense.
Is he related to Xanta?
ReplyDelete... ever been to the Kemper Arena?
ReplyDeleteHorribly booked, no doubt, but not on par with Punk winning.
ReplyDeleteI'm not recollecting that information being used a key component in their match.
ReplyDeleteThose guys are in the ballpark no doubt.
ReplyDeleteSo what? He does Jui-Jitsu, and they've mentioned it countless times before that match.
ReplyDeleteIf you're here to prove me wrong, you've done your job.
ReplyDeleteSadly it's probably true.
ReplyDeleteI know right? Hell, I still remembered what I ordered from Original Tommy's on the way home
ReplyDeleteYeah, it wasn't even one of those surprise great shows like ER 12, those main events were probably the biggest, freshest matches they had left in the bash, and unlike also-stacked also-low-bought WMXIX, both matches were clearly the most important and promoted.
ReplyDeleteThose last few months were painful; it's like watching a guy like Albert Pujols or Matt Kemp come back from surgery and physically we're not the same guys they were before, esp. when they run.
ReplyDeleteGood to see some people jump on the Brick bandwagon without any hesitation.
ReplyDeleteAnd the plan was for him to face Hunter at Mania, because their last feud worked like gangbusters for Punk. Between that and being hosed out of one WM main event after another, I don't blame him for leaving and I wouldn't blame him if he never came back. I wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteThey would almost certainly never do it, but I would love to see Brock keep the belt until Summerslam. Imagine the build up for that. "Will Brock's one year reign of terror finally end?"
ReplyDeleteBryan has always irked me. If he is soooo good at booking, why has he never ever ever worked for a mainstream company ever? Sounds like bitter jealousy.
ReplyDeleteBrock has the ability to reenergize the fanbase but he's not a guy that's going to bring in casual viewers. Reenergizing the fanbase is a start to getting the casual viewer back. Keeping the belt on Cena is like riding around on a tire with a nail stuck in it.
ReplyDeleteMatches like this are why I still watch. Stranger, I'm loving these classic matches you're putting up. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteDude beat Hogan for the belt clean as a sheet at WM, then steamrolled everyone for the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteNo chance. They're too obsessed with Cena,
ReplyDeleteBut they can't hang on to Cena forever. If reports are true, the guy's body is breaking down.
ReplyDeleteBut, the count had to be broken, because of Heyman, right?
ReplyDeleteI'll admit, the Vice is really hard to defend, Kayfabe wise. Everything else? I think it fits in pretty perfectly.
I know I'm missing something here - why does everyone call him Brick? I thought Bork Lazer was the joke name.
ReplyDeleteHGH will do that.
ReplyDeleteAllegedly (sorry Scott)
I drove on a tire with a nail in it for over 18 months. Just filled it up with air every 4 days it so. No big deal. Got me to where I needed to go. Then the tire got severe neck and shoulder problems and left for Hollywood and I had to replace. Totally different situation I guess.
ReplyDeleteProbably has something to do with the "I" key being beside the "O" key.
ReplyDeletePfft. Logic.
ReplyDeleteSheamus is!
ReplyDeleteAnd considering how he was rehabbed the last year, it's a stupid argument.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Cena fills up with something every four days or so to keep himself on the road. Don't think it's as different as you may want to believe.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's never had a desire to?
ReplyDeleteBrick Lobster!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first homosexual accusation I've heard levied towards Cena. What have you heard? A backstage movie with Seth Rollins?
ReplyDeleteI'd laugh if I saw Brick Tamland was tossing Cena around like his bitch with German suplexes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, man. September is almost here.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much exactly what I was thinking.
ReplyDelete"There's always money in the banana stand", said a yellow-wearing Hulk Hogan.
ReplyDelete(And a mighty groan was heard throughout the land.)
Not the draw? I don't know if I care too much about how much money the E makes, but given how Brock looks like a killer, even in defeat, makes me wish more guys were "damaged goods"
ReplyDeleteI'm talking about 'roids, brother!
ReplyDeleteFELLA!!!
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahahahahah
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteDoes getting laid count?
ReplyDeletei really hope the upvotes are from people getting the reference
ReplyDeleteHave they announced any other matches for NOC yet other than Sheamus-Cesaro? I'm guessing they'll do Usos-Rhodes for the tag titles, Ziggler-Miz again for the IC title, Paige-AJ again for the Divas title, and Reigns vs. some combo of Orton-Rollins-Kane.
ReplyDeleteNo but he'd rather make money complaining about those that are working in the business.
ReplyDeleteBrock Lesnar is a name that casual viewers may have heard of in a non-wrestling context. That's the definition of a guy who can draw in casual viewers. That's not to say he definitely WILL, but more so than anyone else they have.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the flip-side is that those casual viewers tune in to see Lesnar and WHOOPS, Lesnar's not on the show this week. Or next. Or the one after that.
I... Wait, what?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what your feelings are on Roman Reigns, but I would love to hear the reasoning behind this new smark meme that Reigns won't be ready by WM31, but Rollins is ready right now.
His return was definitely mishandled, but I think they've done a fucking fantastic job of rebuilding him and getting people to forget he's lost to Cena and Triple H in convincing fashion.
ReplyDeleteIf Bryan is healthy at Mania XXXI, why can't they do Bryan challenging Brock for the title (since he never lost it or wins the Rumble) have have Reigns beat Cena in the under card. I think that would be the best way to book the show instead of Reigns beating Lesnar.
ReplyDeletePlus they could always have Reigns win the title a year later.
ReplyDeleteMINUS. FIVE. STARS.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that'll get money.
ReplyDelete'96 HBK (took down Bret, Diesel, and Vader in a 6 month span), '09-10 HBK (who was basically built to the idea that nobody except Taker, and even then only on Mania, could beat him straight up), '90 Warrior, '97 or whatever Sting, January-March '08 Flair who was fighting for his career and beat everybody, including Trips and Batista, '05 Batista, and '14 Daniel Bryan (pre-injury). Maybe Summer of Punk CM Punk, too.
ReplyDeleteProbably Rocky the year he finally beat Austin at Mania… what was that, '03?
But it's still a short, short list.
who dropped the ball on the evening thread?
ReplyDeleteBayless takes care of impact.
ReplyDeleteThis guy gets it.
ReplyDelete...it's also Brock's last great match.
ReplyDeleteare the show threads now the evening threads?
ReplyDeleteYon royal Observer reports:
ReplyDelete"McMahon was reportedly under the impression that due to the way Brock Lesnar destroyed him in the one-sided match at the SummerSlam pay-per-view, that many of Cena's fans may lose faith in him if he wasn't made to look strong immediately after returning to television."
So there you go. The company will still produce some interesting moments here and there, but if the top babyface being Hulk Hogan, Rambo, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Captain America rolled into one man isn't your jam, don't l
I would absolutely call it a worst booking move than Lesnar's first loss b/c of Brock ending the streak. And is Cena that much more of a draw simply b/c he's wearing that ugly belt? Let Brock be a monster until 'mania and go all the way w/ Reigns being the one to finally beat him.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It's like, if you go to a restaurant and don't like the foot, either become a chef or don't complain!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought he sounds like David Cross.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they trust Bryan to stay healthy. They're weird about that (unless you're Triple H).
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, obviously, yeah. That's the money main event; the most over guy on the roster who was robbed of the belt against the impossible killing machine who's destroyed everyone else. David vs. Goliath with the two most money names they have right now (or at least 2/3, with Cena, who we've already seen against both multiple times, as the third).
WM is and always has been the place where "things" "happen." If you're gonna pass the top babyface torch, it has to happen there.
ReplyDeletePlus, what is the uproar gonna be if Bryan beats Lesnar, loses the belt in short order to a heel and doesn't get a rematch (or does and loses) so Reigns can get it?
it's fascinating how cena subbing for dbry completely changed the perception of rbock's character
ReplyDeletebrock destroys dbry, he's the biggest heel ever who must be stopped at all costs
brock destroys cena and he's the faciest face ever whom everyone in the world worships and should be given whatever he wants and then some
They could push the crowning of Reigns back to SummerSlam. That's how they did it with Daniel Bryan last year.
ReplyDeleteKeeping Cena away from the title opens him up to more feuds in which he can put more guys over (even if he's beating them). Cena the champ will only feud with Brock, Orton, HHH, maybe Rollins, maybe Kane. Cena the contender can feud with Cesaro, Rusev, Rollins, Orton, Kane, Sheamus, Bray, Barrett, etc.
ReplyDeleteBrock vs. Bryan would have value if Bryan could go, and Brock vs. somebody who gets after him mentally (think Snake/Savage or Shawn/Taker '09 for the template) could work.
ReplyDeleteActually, Bray coming after Brock to prove something and getting over on Heyman verbally would at least be damned fine television.
ReplyDeleteI second liking this. I know a lot of the ones I'm thinking of are gonna make the cut so I'm gonna lobby here for the inclusion of RVD and Jericho's hardcore match.
ReplyDeleteIt's a hell of an argument that Bryan got "crowned" at Summerslam and besides, that was necessitated by Cena's injury triggering the Authority storyline at that specific time. Two entirely different scenarios.
ReplyDeleteWe're all assuming Reigns is getting there no matter what. If the fans keep turning on him, he might get sent back to mid card land.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, another appearance by the "THE FANS ARE TURNING ON REIGNS MORE AND MORE EACH WEEK" meme. Terrific.
ReplyDeleteEh, it was more of a hypothetical. If he's not getting a response, they'll drop him. We've seen it a billion times before.
ReplyDeleteBrock's claim to fame is leaving wrestling to win the UFC title. If he pulls people in then it will be from UFC. Most that watch wrestling and mma are going to watch anyway. He doesn't have much appeal to Joe Schoe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, IF the fans completely and totally turn on him, it could happen, but that's shown no signs of happening yet outside of the notoriously fickle bunch of smug pricks we in the internet smark community are.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you say.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they even need to totally turn on him at a Miz or Bootista level; I think they just need to be ambivalent about him. Rollins and Ambrose both have a puncher's chance of stealing his spot if his responses slip even a little.
ReplyDeleteI've never listened to Brian Alvarez's voiec before and I won't again haha.
ReplyDeleteAnd squash them all whilst making poppy jokes and superimposing their heads onto babies!
ReplyDeleteThe Poochie joke gets made a lot, but COME ON!
ReplyDeleteNO!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like the audience decides who the babyface is!
ReplyDeleteIn a kayfabe perspective it should appear Cena is leaving his prime with the loss and should be shunted down the card. I predict total destruction for the network numbers. The build to this show has fingers on the cancel button. More Cena, more formula.
ReplyDeleteAlso I have no idea why the Extreme Rules match is that well regarded. Cena's win ruined Brock for a year and a half.
It is entirely within the realm of logic that they're bring Cena back expressly to get clobbered AGAIN and "hurt" this time (hence the in-all-likelihood leaked "news" that he
ReplyDeleteUgh. Alvarez is nauseating, at best.
ReplyDeletePreach.
ReplyDelete"There are more of them on this page,"
ReplyDeleteWhat page?
Bryan's voice is indeed annoying but Vinny is freaking hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I found Bryan to be tolerable was when he and Vinny reviewed Hood Justice, that was pure gold.
And Vince Russo has got to be connected to the Illuminati, that's the only possible explanation there could be for him continuing to get work despite all the damage he's done to the wrestling business.
Jim Herd only got one freaking chance and he wasn't half the screwup that Russo is, meanwhile Russo's at six chances and counting.
He's an actual wrestler, which gives him some credibility.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the only opinion anyone should trust when it comes to Russo is that of Jim Cornette.
ReplyDeleteCornette's Russo rants are 100% spot on, plus there's usually some fun territorial anecdotes mixed in whereas if Bryan didn't have Vinny and Granny with him, that show would be purely unlistenable.
You can still get your Russo fix thanks to Pyro And Ballyhoo. Not only that but you also get to see horrible spelling that would make even a right wing blogger cringe.
ReplyDeleteStill prefer Cornette's podcast although both guys can at least spell so they have more credibility than Russo.
ReplyDeleteI wanna see a face off between Hogan and Sheamus for who can say "brother" and "fella" more.
ReplyDeleteBROTHER BROTHER BROTHER!!
FELLA FELLA FELLA!!
I think Reigns is past the point of ambivalence now.
ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between being the champion and being THE MAN.
ReplyDeleteThe expectation for Reigns is to be the next Cena, and when he wins the title that means he is the new #1 guy. No one expects Rollins to be #1, even if he is the champ.
I don't trust Bryan to stay healthy. He's a wreck. His style doesn't lend itself to longevity. Ambrose is the guy.
ReplyDeleteBryan and Vinny reviewing Urban Wrestling Federation is hilarious though
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzlqnF3Qb2E
I don't think WWE thinks it can afford to have Cena off TV/house shows for months, even if it would make sense for the story (not to mention his physical health).
ReplyDelete18 likes sir, in the day Fuj would give you an award
ReplyDeleteSo, would you call him "The Brock Hit house"?
ReplyDeleteChurch!
ReplyDelete
