Das Bus is one of my all-time favourite episodes for these reasons:
ReplyDelete"We'll live like kings! Damn-hell-ass kings"
"Hey! I need that to live!"
And of course, "Go banana!"
God was this show good for a long time.
ReplyDeleteOh man, is this the first time they're showing The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson on any kind of syndication since 9/11?
ReplyDeleteThey kept the scene where the guy says all the jerks are in tower 1. I believe that's cut in syndication.
ReplyDeleteIt was pulled after 9/11, but like Rage Against the Machine songs it was back being played shortly after.
ReplyDeleteTrash of the Titans in my top ten.
ReplyDelete"You really want old man Patterson with his finger on the button?"
"WHAT BUTTON!?"
"I'm impressed that you were able to write so legibly on your own butt"
ReplyDeletesorry, but this is the season where things start going terribly wrong.
ReplyDeletecase in point - 'The Principal and the Pauper'.
Skinner wasn't in Vietnam? invalidates quite a few things from earlier seasons. they couldn't quite recover after this.
For me, it all ended with season 8.
Watching this episode now, and I still don't like it.
ReplyDeleteThis season was when the show slipped from can`t-miss status for me. Principal and the Pauper is a low point. Still some good stuff, but definitely off the peak here.
ReplyDeleteThis is the season where I felt the writers thought they were "untouchable", and could get away with anything. Which resulted in lazy writing. "The kids were rescued by... Oh, let's say, Moe".
ReplyDeleteAka, we don't need an ending, you'll just laugh anyway and say "that was part of the joke". They did that over and over again, until I cared a lot less about the show.
I forgot how funny Joy of Sect was. Homer is killing it here.
ReplyDeleteThe leader. This is a classic episode. Out the way jerkass!
ReplyDeleteWeren't they intentionally being tongue in cheek with that one? Doesn't the ending where they're like they admit they're going to ignore this forever and treat it as non canon signify this?
ReplyDeleteI sure could go for a crab juice.
ReplyDeletelol cassette tapes.
ReplyDeleteAs many noted the show did start to slip a touch during this season, but it was still better than almost anything on TV until about season 15. Then it became a good show, one that would be more appreciated without 15 years of history bWh
ReplyDeleteThis is the season where I stopped recognizing every episode on the back of the DVD boxes.
ReplyDeleteOh look, another Lisa is better than everyone episode.
ReplyDeletethe last decent season before it fell off a cliff... really though since thurs i dont think i hve watched anything on the tv other than the simpsons and its been glorious. its a shame its gonna end today as the watch ability will be tougher with each passing hour.
ReplyDeleteSeason 8 was ROLLIN last night. Prohibition! LADDIE! Bret Hart! Mista Sparkkkkle. All around 1 am
ReplyDeleteBurns saying "and if it's a crime to bribe a jury, then god help me I'll soon be guilty of that too." was at least clever enough of an ending. Since its at least believable.
ReplyDeleteMiracle on Evergreen Terrace was terrible as well. The story goes from being about Bart to being about the family being abused. But did Homer, Marge, Lisa, or Maggie do anything to deserve the abuse they got? The episode carries on like they did; the episode was just mean spirited for the sake of being mean spirited.
ReplyDelete"That wasn't news, that was sappy manipulative tripe." Actually Lisa that would pass for news in this day & age.
ReplyDeleteDidn't somebody take all the McBain clips and show they actually tell a story when played in order? (we'll pretend my google is broken)
ReplyDeleteMENDOZA!!!!!!!!!!
