Dean Ambrose

Question - do you think we may have a repeat of last years Daniel Bryan/crowd hijacking situation with Dean Ambrose???

I can certainly see that happening.  The office wants Reigns but the crowd wants Ambrose to be "the guy"

What do you think?

Also - what do you think they'll do with Daniel Bryan when he returns?  Will he be as hot as he was when he left?

I think we should wait for Ambrose to actually win a major match on TV or PPV before we start getting ahead of ourselves with the Daniel Bryan comparisons.

  1. I think things would get a little better under StephHH only because Vince won't be there to change his mind and shoot down where they have been heading for the past who knows how long at the last minute.

I don't expect and miracle turn around but Kevin Dunn being gone and...based on all account we would get a War Games because H like War Games...that's a start.

  2. The struggle is between HHH & Steph and George Barrios and Michelle Wilson, the two who were in charge of the Network launch and the television deal. I get where HHH & Steph are coming from because those two deals were huge disappointments.

  3. Please, for the love of god, never refer to WWE as "The E" again.

  4. THANK YOU. I don't get the mentality of "this product will get better when Triple H and Stephanie are in charge."

Is it possible? Sure. But they're not going to reinvent the company. Stephanie is the one who hired all the soap opera writers in the first place and got the company into the mess. Remember, she's the one who was pitching the Rock/Cena feud as a "Twilight" "Team Jacob/Team Edward" thing.

  5. The man already cut his hair to fit in with these corporate suits. What more can he do?! Those Wall Street investors better watch out because soon they are going to get an education in THIS BUSINESS from the Game.

  6. At the end of the day, none of us knows for sure who's at fault for the crap they're putting out, but I think it's fair to assume things will change (for the better) once Vince is gone. HHH might have had a lot of power for the last 10 years but how much of that is actually having the final say on what goes on TV?

  7. NXT is a decent little show, but "rulz all kinds of ass" is a stretch. The commentary is extremely poor at times, there's no roster depth, and the guy that should have been on top for the last year is still chasing, and the chase isn't necessarily getting any hotter. I think people are just so thirsty for a decent product. Yeah they have Kenta, but he's gonna be feuding with the rat guy from NXT Season 4.

You know what "rulz all kinds of ass" though? BRUCE THARPE IS BACK!

  8. (Picks up mic) I'm a little glad this topic has come up (again) because I've been waiting to speak on it. At the end of the day, it's still Vince's company, so I don't understand why all the "power struggles" are taking place. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of HHH (especially circa 1999-2001), he does have an apparent great mind for the business, and he's won me over more often than not due to his toughness, however, I'm not sold on the fact that things would immediately change/get better if he were to become the Chairman. Say what you will about Vince, but I literally shake my head every time I see comments such as "he's getting up there in age", because if you're still capable of doing your job, age shouldn't be a factor. I think it was during an interview segment on Raw (can't recall the year), and whether it was based a bit in reality or not, when Vince said "the only way I will step down is when I die", I actually believed that then and I still do today. Furthermore, I can understand the disappointments regarding any deals with the WWE Network (which I still love by the way), but is there anything to suggest that the deal would've been handled differently if it were HHH & Steph and not George and Michelle? Just my feelings here. (Drops mic)

  9. Things have gotten better than they were during the Kennedy/Lashley/Khali era. It's also better than the Miz title run era. As far as comparing to the attitude era or the smackdown six era, I don't know if things will ever get that good.

  10. I think things will improve some what, but I'm not sold on Stephanie's creative prowess and I'm not sold on anything HHH is involved in on screen (he can't help but cut people down when he's on camera w/ someone). Also, HHH is almost as much a body builder fetishist as his father in law

  11. The team Rock vs Team Cean thing (which was never really explicitly mentioned other than the Rock being captain of team bring it), wouldn't have been seen as bad if it wasn't taken from Twilight fandom.

  12. Yeah, explicitly mentioning "Oh, I took this from a chick book that approximately 99.4% of our audience thinks is totally lame" made her look like an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I totally agree with the Attitude era, even the "Smackdown Six" period too.

  14. Trips is obviously into physique, but he seems much more willing to accept that a body like his isn't a necessity. I mean, how much praise does he give to Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair? He's also a big fan of Rollins, Ambrose, and Bryan, signed Sin Cara and Kharma, and has gone out of his way to push several of the NXT guys (Zayn, Neville, Kenta, etc.).

  15. I assume that Stephanie is pretty much the booking force behind the Bellas horsecrap, so I too am not sold on her creative prowess.

  16. We can only hope that when Kevin Dunn gets pink-slipped, HHH also has him beaten up in the parking lot.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, I don't see a big change to the current product when HHH/Steph take over, but I imagine he'd be a lot kinder to NWA/WCW in terms of revisionist history.

  18. Isn't it possible that Vince's decline has been accelerated by the fact that Linda is no longer CEO? They used to send her out for the PR stuff and the Wall Street meetings, etc. Now Vince is doing that as well as still being in charge. Maybe it's worn him down faster than nature.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Just signed Kenta, DeVitt, and Steen himself (at Noble's recommendation). In fact Noble probably becomes his right hand man if/when he takes over.

  20. You can count ... on me ... waiting for you in the parking lot.

  21. He also demoted an accomplished tag wrestler for opting not to be a lifting buddy.

  22. Honestly, the SmackDown 6 era was so good I don't know if it can be topped. That 18 months of was just amazing TV.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't think you can necessarily simplify it like that though. One of the reasons the network is a flop is b/c the PPVs are booked so poorly that nobody is interested in watching them and as a result, network subscriptions haven't reached expectations. You can't separate the brokering of the TV deals and launch of the network from the creative malaise.

Think about it this way: If the technology existed in January 2000 and the WWF pulled the trigger on the network then, how many subscriptions would they have gotten? I'm guessing more than we can even imagine right now. And it would have nothing to do with the publicity or execution of the launch - it'd be b/c people want to watch the product.

I know, this is a straw man argument, but I think the hypothetical works here.

  24. Is there some way to have Kevin Dunn get pink-slipped without Vince's death? I really don't want to root for someone's passing...

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's probably not helped on the business front. I doubt she could've stopped the negative comments from the investment community regarding the Network, but it might not have been as loud. Pre-politician Linda was really respected.

  26. One need only look at HHH´s record over the past three or so years to understand a HHH-led Universe won´t be all that a packet of chips. He´s consistently shown a willingness to put himself ahead of up and comers, crush rising stars and pursue feuds which are abject AIDS to the average viewer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Did you miss when he put over Daniel Bryan at Mania 30? That was pretty big of him.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ha, knew this would come up! All I´ll point to is his pointless ruination of the Summer of Punk, and the Lesnar feud...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would be happy if the stock dropped dramatically. Good things happen when desperation sets in.

  30. For me, the Smackdown 6 was more of a 8/02 - 1/03 kind of thing.. Once A-Train was inserted into the mix and Team Angle debuted, and Benoit got teamed with Rhyno it had moved onto a different era. But everything from Edge/Guerrero NO DQ up to Angle/Benoit RR '03 is a hell of a run. And yes probably untouchable, at least with the way they put these shows together nowadays..
