I found it very difficult to find One Night Only videos that were intact. This was a very good UK PPV, and I remember watching it live back in Canada, the homeland. Plenty of this thing called "wrestling" on this show. There was a Dude Love vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley match, Vader vs. Owen Hart, and The Undertaker vs. Bret Hart. But do you think I could find a complete version of any of those? So I settled for this two-part clip of HBK and the Bulldog. The heat for this match was off the friggin' charts. Don't forget to click on "read more" to get the second part. Enjoy.

One of HBK's most infamous a-hole attacks...
ReplyDeletelol @ HBK getting to troll the entire UK by winning...
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about this in HBK's book. This was an asshole of the year winning move.
ReplyDeleteFinal chapter of the most one sided feud in WWF history.
ReplyDeleteHBK > Bulldog:
-Won the IC title in 1992
-Won the Rumble in 1995 Eliminating Bulldog in the final 2
-Won a match on Raw in 1995 as a WM 11 warm up
-Won the Rumble in 1996 by Eliminating Bulldog in the Final 4
-KOTR successful title defence in 1996
-Won the Tag titles with 1997 With Austin, vs Bulldog and Owen
-Won the Euro title in 1997.
I constantly bring this point up: It would be cool to have a one night only tournament for the Euro title as they have enough people to get some good brackets.
ReplyDeleteOnly feud that you could debate would be Hogan vs. Savage.
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's #1 with a bullet. IMO, nothing else beats this in terms of pure selfishness and unnecessary spite.
ReplyDeleteI recently saw his prematch promo with Sunny for the first time. It's odd (but not surprising) that that was left off the chopped-up VHS version that was released, just because he and Sunny being a thing is not part of cannon. And, just for my own sanity and affection for HBK, I'm going to forget about all the stuff I read related to Shawn, Sunny, Candido, Ahmed Johnson and coke.
ReplyDeleteLoved to hear Screamer defend this one.
ReplyDeleteI have this show on DVD from when Silver Vision would release a series called Tagged Classics. Great show. 1997 was such a good year for classic matches.
ReplyDeleteIt was paired with The Fab Four, where Jim Ross interviewed Bret, Taker, Shawn and Bulldog.
What did he say?
ReplyDeleteCena vs. Jericho is in the running too.
ReplyDeleteNow from what I remember, Bulldog was told that up until the day opt the show, he was winning the match, then Shawn went and got the result changed at the last minute, after Bulldog dedicated the match to his dying sister. Do I have this right?
ReplyDeleteCena vs anyone
ReplyDeleteYes. And his sister had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI know most people hate Shawn for changing the finish, but I loved the finish being a total Shawn mark at the time and the post match shenanigans with Shawn trying to start a riot made great tv.
ReplyDeleteDid Savage ever beat Hogan in a televised match? Did DBS ever beat Shawn?
