Ryback's return as a face last night got me thinking of a Royal Rumble spot they just HAVE to do this year(should have done it 2 years ago). They need to give Ryback the '1994 Diesel' spot. Have him come out at #10, clear the ring and as he's alone waiting and the countdown clock is winding down, he leads the crowd in a 'FEED ME MORE' chant. Do this 3 times. Feed him an Uso, a Matador, Heath Slater and then have a guy like Ambrose or Rusev come out to finally end it(anyone but Triple H). I think that would be an awesome moment and it would really get the crowd into the match. Not only that, it would put Ryback over huge. I'm not saying Ryback should win the Rumble but that spot just has to happen. That 'feed me more' chant is just made for that 'Diesel' spot in the Rumble. Your thoughts?
That assumes a lot more thought and caring into the Ryback character than the creative team has put into him. But yeah, there's a lot of fun spots they could do with him assuming he doesn't get injured again or say something really stupid on Twitter and get fired.
Ryback delivered an awesomely realistic promo (link at the bottom) as a backstage Raw bonus video, explaining both his heel turn and his return as a face in a logical, natural way, putting himself over as a very likable bad-ass of a guy. If they'd played this video on Raw itself, it would've gone a long way towards getting the fans 100 percent behind Ryback. As usual, a promo delivered as an actual person and not as a cartoon with a WWE Creative-approved script is wholly more effective.

Ryback was cool as a douchey/slightly comedy tough guy with Axel - they could've been a really funny and awesome tag team
ReplyDeleteRyback has already surpassed Goldberg in career reboots.
ReplyDeleteMan that was good. Best Ryback promo I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't find the time to put that awesome promo on the actual show. Is there not enough time in 3 hours?
ReplyDeleteGood thought, but I don't follow how this involves randy Orton or john Cena? Unless you're suggesting they aren't possibly involved and the wwe sort of pushes someone else?
ReplyDeleteSounds like the same thing they did to CM Punk awhile back. Spots like that always make the rumble more fun. It would be the one time I would welcome a Cole entrance.
ReplyDeleteRyback squashed a friend of a friend on close to two years ago. Highlight of dude's career.
ReplyDeleteSeems like Ryback's showdown with Cena at the Rumble was generations ago. Why did he get punished? He forgot to shake someone's hand, didn't he?
Twitter problems?
ReplyDeleteSeems likely. Probably something petty like that.
ReplyDeleteVery emotional.
ReplyDeleteHe's our big guy!
ReplyDeleteNope, they need that time for more Cena.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, he didn't get punished. They just needed a warm body to fill a world title feud (or two, if you count Cena and Punk), Ryback was a new face who hadn't worn out his welcome and wasn't a main event player whose heat they'd risk hurting by jobbing him, so he got victimized by that, his heat got quashed and he became a midcarder.
ReplyDeleteyep.
ReplyDeleteIs that Eden doing the interviewing?
ReplyDeleteB/c she's awful
I'm a Ryback guy...
ReplyDeleteRemember when ryback tapped to the fists of fury of Miz?
ReplyDeleteHe's kind of sloppy in the ring and hurts dudes.
ReplyDeleteThen why put him in the ring? This situation is when "learn how to work" really applies.
ReplyDeleteFace Miz, with the figure four as a finisher = Worst thing WWE has done, maybe ever.
ReplyDeletePunk sort of did that 2 Rumbles in a row actually. And both times, it was awesome. (hey, the petulant child DOES have talent)
ReplyDeleteI have a goofy idea for Ryback.
ReplyDeleteRyback, IT Support.
Very good choice however I'm gonna go with Heel Undertaker, making Jim Ross kissing Vince McMahon's bare ass.
ReplyDeleteYup, but she's Ms. Stardust, so she's hear to stay.
ReplyDeleteHe was awful at applying it. How hard is a figure four to apply?
ReplyDeleteThat was his yard dammit. Big evil. Booger red.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, even if he applied it perfectly, it was just such a bad fit overall. Thank goodness he's a cocky heel again, that's where he belongs.
ReplyDeleteWell at least it gave us a few good things, like his match with Flair, and the shocker of Maven eliminating him from the Rumble. Miz as a face was just horrible, from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteHeel Bikertaker was fucking hilarious. All of those catchphrases, all of those staredowns, all of those beat downs, all of those murder attempts.
ReplyDeleteI really started to come around on Ryback when they were building him up in late 2012. I know he's got his limitations, but he should have easily slid into the Kane/Big Show "you're facing this guy as punishment" role.
ReplyDeleteI just wish they would have made him play a more cowardly character. there was a RAW where Triple H just kicked Undertaker's ass all through the arena. Undertaker got no offense. He was left bloody and beaten on the ground but when the police grabbed Triple H, Undertaker(still bloody on the floor mind you) yelled to "get his ass out of here before I kick his ass.
ReplyDeleteThe Bikertaker who thinks he's a total badass but is the equivalent of Honky Tonk Man could have been hilarious.
Bully Ryback was beyond awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Bikertaker stupid catchphrase was "Try me, I'll make your ass Famous" lol wtf
ReplyDeleteLoved him. He was like a "Saved by the Bell" caricature of a bully and it was awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't like "I'll make you famous"!?! Dude you are a hater! That was awesome.
ReplyDeleteSami Callihan...err, Solomon Crowe is already there I think?
ReplyDeleteDamn, Ryback really is one of their strongest talkers. I thought he was great on the mic in that cena feud too
ReplyDeleteThey should totally build up Ryback for a match with Rusev at the Rumble. Build both guys up as monsters on a collision course and put them on the Rumble which is always the second highest purchased WWE event and BAM!
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in seeing it at least. I think Rusev and Ryback could put together something worthwhile.
Lol I can't believe they sold T-Shirts with that on it.
ReplyDeleteTaker has been involved in a whole lot of stupid shit in 24 years, more so than probably any other A-lister.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they didn't sell more.
ReplyDeleteNo he's not. His gimmick has been changed and he's out injured last I read.
ReplyDeleteWOW. That was so down-to-earth and realistic. But it'll never get over. No poopy jokes. No pretending to be a tweener. No wristbands!
ReplyDeleteYeah, he did a good job explaining the heel turn after WM 29.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say he's not big enough.
ReplyDeleteThen all of a sudden...Khali, Indian Call Center IT help desk.
He is literally the only person alive that has watched wrestling but can't apply a proper looking figure four

ReplyDeleteTJ: I never knew that James Brown showed up on a wcw ppv and danced with the Cat!!!! This is beyond awesome!!! Thumbs up for the whole ppv off that. Now I gotta go find it on youtube to hear it with the real music.
ReplyDeleteHe made the grave error of quoting Miley Cyrus during that - watch how he comes to the ring next week on Raw
ReplyDeleteConsidering how many guys are just floating around aimlessly, there's never been a better time to give someone a Diesel push. But that spot has Rusev's name written all over it.
ReplyDeleteNow Ryback being the first guy to stop that streak? That sounds like a much better fit.
I still fondly remember that PPV where Lawler asked JR to explain what "Booger Red" meant like 6 times.
ReplyDeleteEach time, JR got more flustered and frustrated and never once came close to anything remotely resembling an answer.
To my knowledge, the only dude "he" "hurt" was Ziggler and given Ziggler's injury history, one's gotta place some of the blame on him.
ReplyDeleteWas that the "being John Cena's friend means living in John Cena's shadow" one?
ReplyDeletelol come on bro
ReplyDeleteZiggler's figure four was just as bad.
ReplyDeleteI would call this hyperbole, but you're not far off.
ReplyDeleteThat would've involved the UT selling moves and stuff, which he basically never did early 2000s. Cool idea though, he'd never go for it. I don't miss early 2000s UT, those were bad times
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen it, check out his awesome hospital promo.
ReplyDeleteseriously - these guys can move around the ring quite well and all, and can't figure out how to work a figure 4? Forget about the correct knee even, the Miz's looked worse than when Hogan used to do it
ReplyDeleteless big show and Kane? come now, don't be silly. Next you know you'll want to see something other than cena and orton too.
ReplyDeleteI remember that deal getting universally panned at the time, just because it was a waste of time for everyone involved. I still don't get what the point of feuding Miller with the Maestro was, since they were both heels.
ReplyDeleteHe could do that old Terry Crews, Office Linebacker schtick. Those skits were great.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame he can't wrestle.
ReplyDeleteHe's 30+, it's now or never.
ReplyDeleteI mean, Taker is a pretty bad talker, but his catchphrases were usually good.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Biker!Taker brought us "Say what if you sleep if you like to sleep with your own sister."
That is just outstanding. If they don't put that on actual tv they'd be nuts. Good job Ryback.
ReplyDeleteDoes Kane count? He's been involved in some monumentally stupid stuff
ReplyDeleteI loved the buildup to the Flair match, with Taker being such a dick and doing things like beating the shit out of David just to anger Ric. He played a bully really well, and I've always thought that version of Taker was underrated, character-wise.
ReplyDeleteKiller promo. Better than anything I've seen on RAW since Heyman's promos, and more real.
ReplyDelete... and it wasn't even on the show =[
No reason why they can't do this in a 40 man Rumble. Reigns would also work perfectly as the man to come out and end it.
ReplyDeleteI literally can't wait for the Rumble Spot where Miz is eliminated and Sandow throws himself over the top. I'd say that's a shoe in at this point.
I can't remember exactly what happened, but I'm pretty sure Ryback almost killed CM Punk with his recklessness at one point too.
ReplyDeleteBut she's easily the most gorgeous woman in WWE.
ReplyDeleteHow do you blame a concussion on a wrestler? As a pro, ryback should know better not to go full strength on a smaller guy's head.
ReplyDeleteRyback has good, natural, unforced charisma. I think he's an excellent talker which is amazing considering where he started in NXT.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss Ryback jawing with the crowd and his hilarious tweets. Man, that guy was a great heel.
ReplyDelete"Put a bra on the guy, jesus!"
