It's Superbowl time this Sunday, As a Brit I care as little about this fake sport as you good Canucks do. However it made me realise that you haven't reviewed Halftime Heat yet, as easily the biggest Wrestling show never to get a rant, this Sunday seems the best time to fire up the Network and finally put that one to bed.
Really, I could be reviewing NXT and THIS is what people want out of me? I fucking hated that match, although Rock's line about chunky salsa was pretty great. There you go.
Is Halftime Heat on the network?
ReplyDeleteVince in the 80's was definitely a genius, he saw money on the PPV/Syndication and build a empire surrounding Hogan, but he was smart at the time, he made other stars like Savage, Warrior, Hart Foundation...
ReplyDeleteHelps they were pissed about being bumped to the mid card. So they busted ass to spite their position on the card.
ReplyDeleteThese "non-WWE creations" have generally been booked surprisingly for people who supposedly piss Vince off.
ReplyDelete7-1 is okay for later quarters, (21/31-7/17/27), 8-7 is mostly the same (28/38 instead of 21-31).
ReplyDelete1 is impossible, 11 is highly unlikely against a 7 (27-11 is about the only way I see that happening), 8 is equally unlikely, and 18 is fairly unlikely.
Compared to 1983 era wrestlers, I'm in great shape
ReplyDeleteWatched that last night! The hug of mutual respect was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteExactly. Bryan's not going to be in the main event.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, that match was hideous. Hideous.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that Scott underrated that match, think he gave it ***1/2. It was easily ****
ReplyDeleteShane Douglas looking thrilled he made the jump.
ReplyDeleteLesnar/ Goldberg at WM XX could have been pretty decent also, if the audience was into it. However, there is no way any match can be good if the audience spends the entire time booing it. WWE guaranteed this is what will happen with they way they shafted Bryan, for the second year in a row.
ReplyDeleteI'm prepared to go four and a quarter.
ReplyDeleteIYH5: Jarrett's got a horrendous reflective, silver three piece suit. My retinas are burning.
ReplyDeleteCena-Batista? Taker-Batista?
ReplyDeleteTaker-Batista was awesome. Who would have ever thought those two would put on such an incredible match?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I laughed at "I'm gonna throw my hat - not this hat, this is my good hat." Still never drew a dime, though.
ReplyDelete*Mike Graham headshake*
Upon further inspection it appears to be pleather.
ReplyDeleteI liked it better than Cena/HBK, but then I've always been a sucker for two monstrous powerhouses slamming the shit out of each other.
ReplyDeletePunk wasn't that over during his PPV loss streak from 2009-2011. Which is why it made a small degree of sense to push a guy like Miz over him, since Miz was more over than Punk at the time, regardless of how many revisionist fans would like to say other wise.
ReplyDeleteJust re-watched the Triumph & Tragedy Of WCCW this morning.
ReplyDeleteYou'd have to have a terrible interview to not make that shoot interesting.
Oh. That's a fun show. Huge crowd. Felt important. Plus, some new characters premiered, so it's a good jumping on spot. You may want to check out the end of last year's Pro Wrestling Day, as well as some of the fan made videos explaining the storyline reasons for the years off.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember they were pissed at being doubted and tore the house down.
ReplyDeleteSo what's the best hoss v hoss (similar to reigns/Lesnar) match ever?
ReplyDeleteWhen they first showed DiBiase in the crowd with him holding up four fingers, I thought the Horsemen recruited him. Of course it would have made no sense but for a moment I thought it was happening.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Meltzer gave it ****. I think I agree with your ****1/4
ReplyDeleteI don't know man, sounds like you have some kinda insider info
ReplyDeleteIYH5: Looks like somebody bought Buddy Landel a new robe. This one isn't from his usual "Bathrobe Collection."
ReplyDelete"It's mild, you baby!"
ReplyDeleteHe has to look good for his baby tonight.
ReplyDeleteECW chant, of course
ReplyDeleteCool, I'll definitely do that before I watch the show. I'm looking forward to watching it. The only indy fed I follow is pwg and I love it but I'm also interested in something more story driven which seems to be chikara's strong point.
ReplyDeleteYou just enjoyed how they licked head.
ReplyDeleteThe WWE Top officials are dumbasses and don't belong in their roles.
ReplyDeleteJarrett says Ahmed needs an attitude adjustment. Somewhere in the suburbs of Boston an 18-year-old John Cena went BRRRRRRRABBADOO and didn't even know why.
ReplyDeleteAnd so Jeff's feud with "a black man who couldn't even speak the English language" began.
"YOU'RE A FAKE COWBOY!!!!!"
ReplyDeleteI dunno...it seemed like Lesnar and Goldberg weren't going to have a good match at all. It took forever for them to lock-up and then they were doing 80s era powerhouse stuff that was bland back then.
ReplyDeleteJust checked the Evening Thread.
ReplyDeleteAs a friend, I fear that Art's lack of sleep combined with the current WWE product is going to drive him insane.
Ahmed seemed genuinely offended Jarrett's not a real cowboy...
ReplyDeleteI've been throwing some 95 WWF in that mix too.
ReplyDeleteHe kinda looks like Eddie.
ReplyDeleteHey, more entertainment for us!
ReplyDeleteI think he's going to be Kane's bitch for at least a few months.
ReplyDeleteAnd then the Big Show will sit on him.
Kind of obvious see as he's been in developmental for 2 years.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think this is a case where I have to finally have to step back and say "even WWE can't be that stupid," and mean it. Of course, trolling is just as fucking stupid, but at least they're succeeding at that.
ReplyDeleteHad my cheap beer and soft boiled egg breakfast. Got some tea brewing. Should be ready to start knocking out Lucha Underground reviews in about an hour. Stay tuned.
ReplyDelete"Why Professional Wrestling Sucks in 2015"
ReplyDeleteAhmed accidentally runs past Jeff, lol.
ReplyDeleteI fucking loved Ahmed.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of glad he's been in NXT as long as he has. It gave them the chance to tell a really great, detailed story leading up to Zayn's title win. Now, they've got another story with Owens. As a fan, I prefer the entertainment I'm getting where Zayn is now.
ReplyDeleteTime for Hunter to pay them dues and get that scar he's had on his back ever since!
ReplyDeleteI realize WWE's intentions are more long-term and creating the next John Cena means creating a superstar that will be the fact of the company for at least a decade.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't see what's so wrong with giving some guys a shorter run in that top spot. Especially if they can deliver like Bryan can. Because of last year's injury, he might not be wrestling for much longer, so why not use him while you can?
Creating happy crowds that don't shit on your product on a regular basis might be *gasp!* profitable!
I said this last night but it's scary how much young Hunter feels like present day Dolph.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. How about Potpourri for $600?
ReplyDeleteIt was not going to be a ****1/2 technical match. However, if the audience was behind both guys, a 80s style powerhouse match could have been pretty good. If the audience didnt know both guys where leaving and booing the hell out it, this could have been a "better than the sum of its parts" match.
ReplyDeleteAgree totally...the longer they stay the better..he's still got the steen fued...potential balor fued..basically the longer these guys stay the better...better stories...better payoffs
ReplyDeleteI think he's gone higher on Batista/Taker.
ReplyDeleteThe selling, the terrible offense, management always being pissed at him, the constant circling of the IC title, even the hair. It's jarring.
ReplyDeleteI have voted.
ReplyDeleteThat match just wasn't going to work when you considered all of the factors going into it, especially the behind the scenes stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah but Dolph is a hell of a lot more athletic than HHH ever was.
ReplyDeleteYou have done your part to make the BoD Shoot Interview Recap Community a better place.
ReplyDeleteWe got a Rock v Mankind world title rematch on the heels of one of the hottest matches ever in the middle of the goddamn superbowl once upon a time. Were we being spoiled then or just punished now?
ReplyDeleteHHH was pretty fucking athletic for 1995. Lower bar, but still.
ReplyDeleteWell, a wise Fatu once said..."Make A Difference!"
ReplyDeleteWords to live by.
Hall strikes me as the kind of dude who'd find that funny to do to anybody, friends included, haha.
ReplyDeleteScott, did you catch Wrestle Kingdom? Can't recall you mentioning it. And, with regards to NXT, a rant on the next Takeover would be most welcome.
ReplyDeleteI still laugh at Mr Perfect shaving off Hall's eyebrows during the infamous Flight From Hell.
ReplyDeleteErnie Ladd!
ReplyDeleteMichael Hayes waking up sans mullet with a single tear rolling down his face, classic.
ReplyDeleteCan't casually drink throughout the day anymore it just knocks me out. Have to do it all at once.
ReplyDeleteSometimes bad things happen to good people in order off affect change.
ReplyDeleteYES! WE! CAN! YES! WE! CAN!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been as on top of the shows as in past years, but this year has been pretty much based around all the bad guys from the past 5-6 seasons coming together as "The Flood". It seems like it's been fun because a lot of guys have come back for short bits, and they've debuted a couple guys.
ReplyDeleteI think with Bryan, they figure the money they make off of him will be the same regardless of where he is on the card, and that fueling his underdog persona by "holding him back" might even be preferential. If they're right about that, that his fanbase will be there regardless of if he's wrestling Ziggler in the No. 3 or 4 match on the card or if he's in the main event, then trying to make someone else they do think can be That Guy for the long-term isn't the worst idea, in theory.
ReplyDeleteI think the Brock/Goldberg match could have been decent, but the amount of pausing and stalling just fed the crowd reaction. I think if it had been a shorter match with more action, there would have been less opportunity for the crowd to boo.
ReplyDeleteExcept that the main event gets shit on.
ReplyDeleteWow please let them be adding mid south...and more wccw. Hopefully they'll at least add on a full year at some point.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Koko. 8(
ReplyDelete"In theory. Communism works, in theory".
ReplyDeleteAwful cut on his back and THAT is what you put in it, lol.
ReplyDeleteFlair drunk and naked. Perfect/Lesnar mixing it up in the aisle and nearly opening the emergency door. Can't believe it's been 13 years. Damn!
ReplyDeleteFuck this company.
ReplyDeleteAlso, drunk Dustin trying to serenade Terri into taking him back.
ReplyDeleteWe really need them to start establishing long term friends again.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame me, I voted for Nader.
ReplyDeleteI remember that! And they tried hard to get him over as a babyface, too...pushing him as the cruiserweight saviour and having him bust out some better aerial offense.
ReplyDeleteThe A New Day are all friends. They're friends with everyone. They're just so positive! I love the New Day!
ReplyDeleteThat damn camera angle at the finish... that damn camera angle.
ReplyDeleteThose options aren't mutually exclusive, and yes. . . .
ReplyDeletePeople from other countries making fun of football is just as annoying and myopic as Americans making fun of soccer. And I don't even like the NFL.
ReplyDeleteIf my favorite team doesn't win the superbowl, I'm going to cancel the NFL network, and go online to complain about how the Superbowl was booked.
ReplyDeleteJust do a search for halftime heat on the network search function and nothing will come up.
ReplyDeleteI get it. Because of that wrestling thing that happened, right?
ReplyDeleteForget halftime heat since we'd just get Cena v Orton or Kane anyway. Bring back butt bowl as an alternative
ReplyDeleteAh.
ReplyDeleteA more apt comparison would be if the commissioner pulled the Patriots and replaced them with the Steelers because he like big beefy quarterbacks.
ReplyDeleteIv always dug the match so whatever
ReplyDeleteYou would hate that match, Keith. You're such a curmudgeon. That match was different and funny. I love Vince's return to commentary on that.
ReplyDeleteFake sport?
ReplyDeleteI'm a Brit and I love the NFL.
ReplyDeletePS. Start reviewing NXT again
Yeah bit of a turd in the punch bowl there
ReplyDeleteYeah but the search function is shit.
ReplyDeletePart of the fun is the random slice of Attitude era storylines throughout the rest of the show, rather than just the VERY overrated Empty Arena match
ReplyDeleteNo trouble for me, I have it on one of Mick's DVDs.
ReplyDeleteSoccer is for poor countries.
ReplyDeleteVince is HORRIBLE in that match. The whole thing is just a big commercial for Vince's Sports Entertainment philosophy.
ReplyDeleteIt's so boring that fans start riots just to have something to do.
ReplyDeleteI think they did Two years of halftime heat, but when they moved to TNN, which was owned by CBS, which is a partner of NFL, they stopped.
ReplyDeleteI'll save you the trouble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRBZuQK6jg4
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't hurt them at all to try that again... they could run something on the Network.
ReplyDeleteDO BETTER!
ReplyDeleteIt was on the network, I watched it a few weeks ago, but it looks like all the "12 days of attitude" stuff has been deleted.
ReplyDeleteWhat was on the second years show? I don't remember that one
ReplyDeleteI liked his biased commentary for The Rock.
ReplyDeleteA Steve Austin interview and royal rumble 2000 highlights. I just looked it up, I couldn't remember either.
ReplyDeleteNo they'll be running re runs of total divas instead.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds underwelming
ReplyDeleteThis could all be a Vince Russo swerve and tomorrow he'll post the rant.
ReplyDeleteHalftime Heat 2015: The Mountie vs. Marty Jannetty.
ReplyDeleteBOOK IT, VINCE!
BE MORE FUNNY!
ReplyDeletehttp://newsfeed.gawker.com/disgraceful-mick-foley-shows-no-respect-by-cheating-in-1682770065/+barryap
ReplyDeleteFor more...
So awful.
ReplyDeleteUSA being under the NBC banner could piss off the NFL.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of watching Impact.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know if Mcmahon or Dunn pushed for that ridiculous shot
ReplyDeleteEmpty arena matches lost their appeal when TNA started doing them every show.
ReplyDeleteAnd they actually have their own network now. They could do something like that again.
ReplyDeleteSounds better than Rihanna or whichever one they have this year.
ReplyDeleteACT HARDER!
ReplyDeleteOH TAG!!!
ReplyDeleteNoelle Foley must be so proud...No point really, I just wanted to bring up Noelle Foley because she's hot...and her bad boys grew.
