Hi Scott,
Is it just me, or does WWE have the whole "stunt double" angle backwards? Shouldn't Miz want to use the stunt double to do the bulk of the wrestling for him, and just come in at the end to claim the glory of a win? It would make sense that he is protecting his Hollywood image by not putting himself in harm's way.
It would also take away the issue you pointed out that these matches suffer because they require Miz to work basically the whole time by himself. You could structure the match in a way so that you still get the funny Mizdow antics (Miz starts out each match while Mizdow mugs outside, Miz tags out fairly quickly after taking any damage and thinking it's better to keep safe and let his stunt double take the brunt of the punishment, Mizdow works the match and then Miz tags in for the selfish pin).
Kudos on the Radioactive Man reference in the title. And yes, this is EXACTLY what they should be doing with it, and it's kind of how the angle started. It actually makes Miz look like kind of a badass to be facing two guys at once while his stunt double acts like a clown on the apron, so why do it? This version would work more if Miz was a babyface who was determined to fight alone and Mizdow just kept bugging him like Steve Austin and Dude Love. I mean, they can still redeem this by having Miz finally accept his stunt double as a partner, but I don't feel like that's where it's going.
Maybe the miz needs the radioactive man goggles.
ReplyDeleteMiz and mizdow was pretty good on the Jericho podcast. Listening to Jericho's podcast is like reading his books: you just need to skip over his rock talk to get to most of the good stuff.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Simpsons...I was watching the HHH/Undertaker Hell in the Cell match and it got me to wondering...Is the Cell getting it's own entrance and theme music the equivalent of the inanimate carbon rod getting it's own parade?
ReplyDeleteThey do nothing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but why? What's the end game here? Clearly the goal is getting Miz over, not Sandow, and they're doing the opposite.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that Mizdow never does anything particularly heelish. Virgil didn't start out being sympathetic.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Bryan: Watch out Radioactive Man!
ReplyDeleteVince: Brilliant reading! Again!
Bryan: Watch out, Radioactive Man!
Vince: FANTASTIC! One more time!
Bryan: WATCH OUT, Radioactive Man!
Vince: CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL BRYAN, YOU'RE OUR NEW WORLD CHAMPION... is what I would say if you weren't an inch too short. NEXT!
The angle is weird, because the crowds are NUTS for Mizdow, but it's completely nonsensical- a stunt double doesn't MIMIC the actor- he TAKES HIS PLACE!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, if they turn him babyface because of it, and split them apart... what'll he do to get over now?
It's funny cuz its TRUE!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is always:
ReplyDeleteMiz walks out(huge boos)
Mizdow walks out(huge cheer)
It's unique to have a face/heel tag team; I guess Miz can turn face, or Mizdow can Virgil him at some point.
In rod and cell we trust, man.
ReplyDeleteDid it really need to be asked if the WWE was booking a midcard act illogically and incorrectly?
ReplyDeleteI want Miz to have an entire Hollywood-wannabe faction with Tyler Breeze in there too
ReplyDeleteUP AND AT THEM.
ReplyDeletethats why im not that excited for his next book. His last one was 50% wrestling 50% fozzy and i skipped over all the fozzy nonsense, this book is bound to be 80-20 fozzy .
ReplyDeleteIt does seem backwards from a logistical standpoint, but from a "best possible reaction" standpoint it makes perfect sense. The fans EAT UP what Mizdow is doing, so they're designing the match in order to give them that. And the fans are itching to see Mizdow get into the ring, so Miz refusing them that opportunity gets a reaction as well (look at how they boo when he acts like he's going to tag but doesn't). And in those instances where Mizdow does finally get in the ring, it always gets a great reaction. Sure, having Mizdow take all the abuse only to have Miz slip in and get the cheap victory would make more sense from a logic standpoint, but it would probably get 1/4 of the reaction.
ReplyDeleteThere is no endgame. They stumbled upon a gimmick that the fans react to, so they're just gonna run with it til the fans stop reacting. Then they'll split them up, probably have them feud for a month (or two or three). Like I was saying on here the other day, stuff like this is all geared to the house shows. They can do this gimmick on tour for months, job these guys every night to the Usos. Fans are just happy to see the gimmick. It'll last til creative comes up with a new funny gimmick for Sandow, or they need Miz to be the heel in a program with Ziggler or whoever.
ReplyDeleteHi I'm David Otunga! I'm Miz's lawyer and drug dealer.... keeper-awayer.
ReplyDeleteSandow really is great. Anything they've given to him he nails. He's basically getting over in spite of them. Really feel like they could elevate him just by letting him be natural. The guy totally has the "it factor" and can get a crowd to respond to him.
ReplyDelete3rd one was 80 wwe-20 fozzy
ReplyDeleteShelton's probably sitting at home right now and getting a phone call saying Vince wants to see him immediately. He grabs his most expensive suit he can find thinking he's back in the game, only to get to Titan Towers and get chewed out for blowing the Rumble spot he wasn't in.
ReplyDeleteYou'd still have Alicia jump on commentary and do the crazy gimmick that she used to do.
ReplyDeleteHell, do a complete ripoff of that new Empire show. Not like they've never had entrepreneurs who wrestle before.
ReplyDeleteWho is the gay character?
ReplyDelete...oh, never mind. They have a black gay wrestler.
Yeah of all the things Vince could get irate about with the rumble, this is what irked him. Instead of making a one second elimination a priority, how about booking your faces with a few hope spots?
ReplyDeleteWhere's the update on Randy Orton making his return? Dirt sheets mine as well keep reporting that until he finally returns in 2019.
ReplyDeletei think everyone did really hate it at the time. It is a lousy name.
ReplyDeleteJesus H. How is "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" beating "Closer?"
ReplyDeleteIf NXT gets bigger ratings than Smackdown, Vince has to interfere.
ReplyDeleteAnd here is the updated Wrestlemania from my sources:
ReplyDeleteWWE Title:
Bork Lazer vs. Elmer Fudd
U.S Title:
Chia Pet w/ Whore Lipstick vs. #LOLCenaWins
A Match No One Wants to See Except HHH:
My Uncle Maury in Facepaint vs. COOOHHH (or "The New Rulebreaker")
Andre Battle Royal to determine who won't grab the brass ring again.
The Divas bathroom break spectacular.
The Samoan dork twins vs. Heavy Metal Van Hammer's retarded pudgy cousins.
Pre-Show Match:
B+ Bryan vs. The Stand-Up Comedian. Spoiler result: Double DQ when The Big Crybaby and CORPSINGKANE beat them up for 10 minutes, pee on them and leave.
The end.
It would've been nice after DDP was Diamond Cutting everyone at the Rumble if Orton showed up and RKO'd him out of his shoes
ReplyDeleteYeah. There is a spot inKeansburg that was good, but I haven't been there in a minute.
ReplyDeleteJody's has the "bellybuster" sandwich: three pieces of fish, scallops, cole slaw and cheese between 3 slices of bread for around $8.
Royal Rumble: By the Numbers;
ReplyDeleteZero - The number of fucks Vince McMahon gives about who the fans want to win
That would have been fucking awesome. I'm sure DDP would have loved the idea too honestly.
ReplyDeleteNo dancing?
ReplyDeleteThe armory outside of Chicago that ROH usually runs holds about 1000 or so folks. There's also the Odeum in Villa Park that ECW used to run.
ReplyDeleteSo when will the WWE have a ladder match for the coveted "Brass Ring" that mysteriously keeps raising every time someone tries to grab for it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nobody would be shocked if Vince blamed Titus here. Thankfully he'll probably just fire Byron Saxton.
ReplyDeleteIf he wants to interfere in NXT, start by getting better looking belts...or titles or whatever the fuck he's calling them.
ReplyDeleteIs Rooster still on the list?
ReplyDeleteUnless Reigns himself told the company he didn't think he could handle being booed as a babyface, the company is going on with this push. Years of John Cena have warped their perceptions, as he's gotten booed for years, yet draws crowds and sells merch. Reigns getting the Cena reaction just tells them they're on the right track. They'll only change course several months down the road if & when Roman's drawing power comes up short.
ReplyDeleteThis is also why they *still* question whether Bryan is *really* over or if it's mostly the "Yes!" chant. They don't believe crowd reactions, and because he never fit their view of a top guy they will ignore all evidence to the contrary.
I would watch a Miz - Dolph feud over who's really from Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteBut what about Florida Georgia Line?
ReplyDeleteYeah, either would work. 1500-2500 seaters seems to be the potential based on the demand in Columbus. Besides the costs of running the shows (which sales would easily recoup), I don't see any reason why WWE shouldn't do NXT mini-tours
ReplyDeleteCan we have a 20 minute Kid Rock concert in the middle?
ReplyDeleteAdded!
ReplyDeleteTitan was such a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteWhoever came up with Big Show is an idiot.
You know what's not racist? The All African-American Shoot Interview Poll. Go Vote!
ReplyDeletehttp://vote.pollcode.com/34689679
It was defeated, but I can't remember by what right now.
ReplyDeleteThe same mystery guy who rose the briefcase at King of the Ring 1999 could do it!
ReplyDeleteI want Vince singing!
ReplyDeleteTHERE YA GO! ADDED!
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that Seth Rollins (as Tyler Black) wrestled a single match in TNA - a tag team match with Jeff Watson against The Latin American Xchange -- on a September 2006 Impact.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised TNA has yet to market a "Seth Rollins: Best of the TNA Years" DVD yet.
They're busy doing the "tribute the troops thing."
ReplyDeleteSTAND BACK!!!
ReplyDeleteJust in time for Black History Month (the shortest month of the year!!)
ReplyDeleteThat package will come next year when they induct him into the TNA Hall Of Fame.
ReplyDeleteThis needs more commercials and 10 minute video packages.
ReplyDeleteDolph is billed from Hollywood, FL....except for when he's in Cleveland.
ReplyDeleteMiz billed from Hollywood, CA......all the time, except that he's from Cleveland.
So basically....they don't want you to know anyone ever came from Cleveland.
Would be awesome if for a few episode they just showed Sandow sitting at a table by himself in the back waiting to sign autographs
ReplyDeleteI loved when they kept calling him Paul Wight.. NO one knew him as that. We were like.. it's the Giant!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough both are from Cleveland.
ReplyDeleteTHERE YA GO!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Vince. You tearing up your leg on the way to the ring is still the greatest botch in Rumble history.
ReplyDeleteBubba thought R-Truth was D-Von because he's a bit short-sighted without his glasses.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe a bit brain-damaged from chairshots.
Christ that sounds aggressive. And delicious.
ReplyDeleteBut then there'd never be a winner
ReplyDeleteI am doing it all month long except for next week, when its the Valentine's Day edition poll of couples shoot interviews. But that does feature the Rodney Mack & Jazz shoot.
ReplyDeleteBryan will be tweeting from the Seattle Seahawks Twitter account later today. Will this be acknowledged by WWE on TV? Probably not.
ReplyDelete"Dammit, Shelton didn't look enough like a loser!"
ReplyDeleteAnd let's be real, Santino is the best character to hold that record. You're not gonna top it.
Don't they have private planes for a reason?
ReplyDeleteIs Taryn Terell still in TNA? If so they need to feud McIntyre with her and have the whole feud be about how she already "beat" him once.
ReplyDeleteShe is the Knockouts champ I think.
ReplyDeleteThey probably already had his theme though and "WEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLL, IT'S THE TITAN!!!" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Those guys were a decent team and neither has done anything worth value since they broke up.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a weird, unprecedented dynamic that they're just feeling around in the dark. I mean, logically they would run the gimmick the way the email describes. But that also leads to a situation where Mizdow takes the punishment (which doesn't let him do the gimmick) and Miz gets the hot tag, only it's not a hot tag because he's a heel. But fans might cheer the tag anyway because he'd be saving Mizdow, even though he's stealing a victory from his partner? If you were slowly leading towards an organic Miz face turn, that could be a way to do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a strange situation that I can't blame them for staying the course, because the reactions are so huge for Mizdow and Miz does seem to be getting heat from denying the fans who they want to see. And they've made it clear that when they lose, it's because Miz is too arrogant to tag out, which mitigates his "accidentally badass" factor.
Stephanie Pedigreeing DDP. It feels right.
ReplyDeleteThey were getting over without permission.
ReplyDeleteIt totally makes sense that 2015 Vince would get bent out of shape because a guy literally didn't job hard enough.
ReplyDeleteThat could lead to some awkwardness considering the real life drama. I'd assume they worked things out with management first but this is TNA...
ReplyDeleteI'm more willing to bet that TNA completely forgot about that and did not take it into consideration.
ReplyDeleteIt's no longer on the network actually.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of sucks they only have 20 episodes of world class on the network. I'm really starting to get into it.
ReplyDeleteCan we fantasy book triple h's big raw announcement? I'd love for it to be Bryan vs Lesnar at fastlane since Bryan didn't lose his belt etc... Most likely is Bryan vs Reigns for the mania main event and then #SupermanPunchLOL
ReplyDeleteYea I don't understand why they haven't dumped another batch up
ReplyDelete"DAMMIT!!! The black guy didn't get tossed out fast enough!! You know how long and hard I had to think about who would get eliminated the fastest this year?????"
ReplyDelete- VKM
Raw main event: Roman Reigns vs. Curtis Axel for the WM main event spot. It'll score an "6" on the WWE Troll-O-Meter.
ReplyDeleteI was bummed out about the NXT show selling out. I couldn't buy tickets the day of due to either my browser or the website, and then when I could finally access it, there were no tickets. I checked StubHub earlier this week and they're going for over $100.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to make a gif with VKM and the troll face.
ReplyDeleteHi Hoss!
ReplyDeleteMay your ice cream runneth over this morning!
We're gonna put you up against the man who everyone was clamoring to win the Royal Rumble. The man who many say should be the number one contender... Cuuuuuuuuurtis Axel!!!
ReplyDeleteI think we can assume they'd think of something better for White Big E and White Kofi to do right now as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure he's right.
ReplyDeleteI read that somewhere.
If I remember correctly, they kind of did this at first where Mizdow would be on fire and Miz would tag himself into matches to take credit for his work, but then when they realized Mizdow was so over and the fans were cheering for him it became about Miz not allowing Mizdow to upstage him.
ReplyDeleteI actually have no problem with the way they've done this
If Mizdow wasn't as over as he is, then I think you'd do it the way the e-mailer described.
Come on dude, spolier alert!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Brock will destroy them both, because
ReplyDeletethe most important thing is to make Reigns eventual victory look more
impressive.
Upvote for Blankman reference.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest train wreck in PPV history led to a substantial spike in Network subscriptions. So...mission accomplished?
ReplyDeleteTJ: Welp, with my second novel coming out later this year, I thought it was high time to finally have a Facebook page to promote my work:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/nickcpiers
As a protest against BBT, and to support
ReplyDeletethe BoD, I can confirm I bought your book for the Kindle today.
I'm hoping Bittersweet symphony goes deep because I love cruel intentions so much.
ReplyDeleteI guess I don't know his age but that makes sense. To all work rate arguments I say Roman Reigns
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know!
ReplyDeleteReigns is better in the ring than Titus and like 8 years younger. I will say that Titus seems to have more personality than Reigns, especially in the latter's current awkward character.
ReplyDelete"Rororororororo ro Roman Reigns... Ro hohoho hoho ho homan Reigns..."
ReplyDeleteThose lazy good for nothing millenials need to be taught a lesson.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that a wrestler need to have four or five star matches every time he's out there in order to deserve a push but Titus's matches tend to be horrible without the comedy. At least Reigns could get carried to good matches, I can't say the same about Titus.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I see it too. The WWE isn't trying to build to EPIC payoffs. They're more concerned with mining what works until it doesn't work. But really WCW was the same way which is why the NWO went out with a whimper instead of a bang.
ReplyDeleteI think Titus would be considered Gen-X, but I appreciate your joke anyway.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't saying who was better really more just...If Vince wants it he will ignore the weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteVince: "That Roman Reigns is going to be big! Gabby Hayes big!"
ReplyDeleteCurtis Axel: "What's for lunch tomorrow?"
Vince: "Next!"
Axel: "Chicken Necks?"
unfortunately you are right.
ReplyDeletebut I agree with the first posting, I think it makes sense to book the matches like this.
in a way the logical payoff seems to be Sandow being the new "Miz" while Miz takes a break and comes back with a completely new character.
ReplyDeleteCorporate branded thinking at its very finest. Art ain't commerce, people.
ReplyDeletein reality there is nothing like "technically a heel": if he gets cheered, especially if he gets cheered more than anyone else involved in the match, he is definitely a babyface.
ReplyDeleteNow if Miz would be about to take someone's finisher, and be able to get away to tag in Mizdow and then DEMAND Mizdow would take the finisher for him... That would be something.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird because he's a pretty big guy. You'd think he'd get a shot.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a way out: Mizdow does those boring "one tag team guy versus another" and wins a few in convincing fashion. There's a PPV matchup where Mizdow wants to start off because he can beat the guy, but Miz doesn't allow it and loses. Finally on a PPV Mizdow tags himself in and wins the match. Miz gets mad, push push fight fight.
ReplyDeleteHe's technically a heel in the sense that he's put in heel positions and only wrestles babyfaces.
ReplyDeleteRoman Reigns was booed but he was still technically a babyface.
Saddest part is, is that Sandow basically got himself over despite a shit position & shit gimmick given to him. So he will be properly buried for his successful effort.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not a big Mix fan. But he really is a great pro wrestling heel personality. A great pretty-boy chicken-shit heel. Fine talker, good look & way decent enough worker. He deserves note credit & a better position in the line up.
Miz shud ABSOLUTELY be allowed to bring in his girl Maryse to be used as a HEAT MAGNET. He cud then possibly reach the main event again as a B - level heel on Smackdown who can flirt with main events/world title matches. Love Maryse.
Holy crap, read the script to the episode and think about how many quotes could be applied to WWE. Primarily Mickey Rooney's speech at the end: http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F17.html
ReplyDeleteWasn't that what their Intercontinental title feud was about?
ReplyDeleteThat's what it should have been as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the temptation of Naomi angle would lead to the return of Maryse.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe he was allowed to hold the WWE title. Not to rain on his personal parade but.. He is so far from looking like a world champion it's just silly.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I can see their hesitation. Do you really need to see him live to believe how big he is? Plus when I look at his hand, they're not all that impressive - they don't remind me of frying pans
ReplyDeleteThe Miz-Mizdow dynamic throws off the entire modern tag team formula. In fact Miz-Mizdow tag matches have more in common with tag team matches from the 1970s and early-1980s where the faces tended to be more dominant until the heels pull off an "illegal" maneuver to briefly turn the tide in their favor. However, it's been so long since that was the standard formula for tag team matches that modern fans have no idea how to watch or react to it.
ReplyDeleteI'd kind of like it if Sandow went off the rails and decided that since he has perfected emulating the character he really is the Miz now. Miz is scheduled for a match, but is mysteriously absent so Mizdow takes his place. A cab pulls up after the match and Miz gets out and explains that Mizdow was supposed to give him a ride to the arena. The Miz is supposed to be interviewed, but Mizdow is there in his place. He refers to himself as the Miz and acts just like the Miz throughout. He can even use earlier characteristics of the character like the "Because I'm the Miz and I'm awesome!" catchphrase. Finally Miz has enough. He shows up for an interview dressed in Sandow's old gimmick of the Intellectual Savior of the Masses. For comedy's sake he can misuse a lot of big words and Mizdow can be seen just off camera fuming. This leads to a blowoff match where they fight each other using each others gimmicks. The only hole I see in this booking is that I'm not sure Miz can do a cartwheel.
ReplyDeleteEven when Sandow was the "Intellectual savior of the masses" he really got everyone to hate him. Sandow's main talent is that he really gets so much into whatever gimmick/character they give him that you believe that's who is and the fans react to it accordingly. Damon Sandow is the pro wrestler as a method actor.
ReplyDeleteYes to the Maryse thing!
ReplyDelete"I don't feel like that's where it's going."
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Creative has no idea where the angle is going either.
I don't buy Miz as anything above midcard level, personally. He's perfect in the U.S./IC picture and with occasional tag runs.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Miz as the annoying, arrogant prick in a stable, who hides when needed behind stable-mates, would work much better.
ReplyDeleteI would actually reverse that. Miz is essentially a "tag team specialist" who teams up with somebody every so often and wins the Tag Team titles. His greatest successes and strengths are as a tag team wrestler. Yeah, he was WWE Champion but he is at his best when he's in a tag team. He shouldn't be in a permanent team with anyone because of his character but he's best served as part of a tag team.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't watching then, I'm actually kind of fascinated to go back and watch on the Network at some point how they built him up as a legitimate contender, because I don't see it either.
ReplyDeleteTo me Miz is a perfect midcard heel and possibly a guy you might want to build a stable around.
Like, Miz, Mizdow (until he breaks out), Tyler Breeze, and Alicia Fox. That's a nice little midcard heel stable that you can do something with. Maybe you push Miz and Breeze towards the tag titles but then depending on whether Miz feels like wrestling a certain night, he might send Mizdow out to defend the belt with Breeze.
They could have some fun with it.
Not just World Champion, but main evented WrestleMania! Such a reach that they let Punk just rail that on the DVD
ReplyDeleteFor once, creative got it right by not going that route
ReplyDeleteI still think they missed out in not having Miz do a Scientology thing with the Wyatt's. He could have been their Hollywood emissary
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the Poochie episode myself.
ReplyDeleteRusev also actually had the US title for awhile and he wins his matches, unlike the IC Champion.
ReplyDeleteHe screams "Authority puppet heel challenger". Lock him in a room with Eddie Gilbert tapes and perfect the sniveling heel.
ReplyDeleteProbably. I don't remember the IC title most of the time. I only remember the US title because a Russian holds it and hasn't renamed it.
ReplyDeleteWait, Dean Ambrose didn't hitchhike from Stamford? :)
ReplyDeleteI used to always love waiting for wrestler entrances/arrivals to the arena. We were too late and left to late to bother last night.
Sitting through all those WWE hype videos, especially Arnold's HOF one twice was exhausting. I'd much rather see the actual commercials the TV audience is seeing.
*Vince McMahon points to Roman Reigns with a scowl*
ReplyDeleteYou are NEXT!
I don't think that is the end game. The angle is surely doing Miz no favors. He's almost always the one who eats the pin and Mizdow is almost always the one to earn the victory. The matches, promos, and skits all seem to be designed to get a huge reaction for Mizdow, not Miz. What makes you think the end game is to get Miz over?
ReplyDeleteI thought the angle worked precisely because it made The Miz look credible on his own against the tag team champs, and because it withheld Mizdow from a fan base that is increasingly hot to see him.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Michael Hayes? He's a bigger nigger than all of them
ReplyDeleteDVR, brother.
ReplyDeleteNot one person in the building gave a lick of shit about Arnold's HoF video. Nor did they give a lick of shit about the Dust Brothers vs. The Ascension, which I'm just sad about because it's two NXT guys who were killed the instant they made it to the main roster. Part of me thinks that they were deliberately killed for daring to be hugely over in NXT in a period when people are widely hailing NXT as being better than Raw and Smackdown.
ReplyDeleteI saw him in '89; biggest human being I've ever seen, and I've met Big Show.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be funny to let Bret see the BOD Raw stuff, actually; he'd at least give it 7/10.
ReplyDelete(Puts on sunglasses)
ReplyDeleteYEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
I second the idea of bringing up Tyler Breeze and adding him to Miz's team. As anyone who's watched reality TV knows, C-level celebrities love having a "personal assistant" and "publicist" to feel important. Breeze and a Diva (Eva Marie?) could work great in those roles for Miz. Maybe give him a bodyguard too (Titus?).
ReplyDeleteMiz = The Miz
ReplyDeleteMizdow = Miz Stunt Double
Breeze = Miz Protege
Titus = Miz Bodyguard/Muscle
JoJo (NXT) = Miz Publicist
That's quite the crew and gets use out of so many people who have nothing else to do.
I'm also in favor of Lana recruiting people to align with Rusev.
"The Entourage"
ReplyDeleteHe's been underutilized for years. Consider that he was originally in WWE in 2006 as one of Michelle McCool's "Teacher's Pets" tag team, so that's almost a decade of wasted time with a clearly talented performer.
ReplyDeleteAll the up-votes.
ReplyDeleteIt's Lorne Michaels booking.
ReplyDelete"The Usos just looked bad"
ReplyDeleteThat applies to every single Uso match since the Wyatts feud ended. Those 2 stink!
Chris Kreski got ridiculed backstage for using continuity charts. You know, Chris kreski, arguably the best WWE writer ever?
ReplyDeleteAnd he held the title over twice as long as Daniel Bryan.
ReplyDeleteI can't even get mad at WWE over the Miz/Mizdow thing. It's literally the only midcard angle that's gotten over since the summer. Yeah it could be better but we've got months of decent stuff out of 2 one note gimmicks and they'll probably get a wrestlemania match and payday out of it. So whatever, mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in Detroit, which is pretty much his adopted hometown.
ReplyDeleteAngles evolve, people!
ReplyDeleteMiz started using Sandow to do his dirty work, but Sandow started getting all the acclaim. So now it makes sense that would want to get it back, while shaming the man he believes took it away from him.
WWE screws up a lot of things, but this isn't one of them.
Depressing.
ReplyDeleteThin roster? They have probably the most talented roster they've ever had in the past decade.
ReplyDeleteCena, Bryan, Orton, Sheamus, Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, Rusev, Big E, Barrett, Ziggler, Ryback, Wyatt, Harper, Miz, Sandow and the Dusts are all guys who at one point were at least solidly mid-card and have the talent (whether through mic work, ring work or gimmickery) to once again get there, at least.
That's 18 guys that you can "make important" over 5 hours (not including the Authority, Sting, Heyman...) and a decent amount of under-card guys to play around with.
The talent in that list isn't...minimal. Ambrose and Cesaro could and should be portrayed as two top guys, now if you want to do that by taking them away everybody else that matters (i.e. throw them on Smackdown and let them run free) do so.
Their roster's depth is not the problem.
If by tremendous job you mean 'called a woman a whore' then yes, you're right.
ReplyDeleteWas Ascension really "hugely over" in NXT? Plus, you'd think that kind of spiteful, self-immolating shit would be more directed at the Zayn/Owens/Balor/Neville types.
ReplyDeleteThe XL Center is a perfectly acceptable corporate name for an arena. The Smoothie King Center and the Dunkin' Donuts Arena? NO! NO! NO!
ReplyDelete
