Hi Scott, hope you are well.
Have noticed that you've stopped you're reviews of the 1996 Raws & Nitros. I was under the impression that you had been enjoying the shows (at least the Nitros). Had that changed, or did life get in the way? They were a cool little peek into the past, and I hope they're not gone for good, especially with how important '96 was in the big picture. Take care.

The impression I was getting from the blog was that we're a little overloaded with 1996 WCW reviews, so I decided to cool it for a while. I wouldn't want to Roman Reigns the reviews.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure people wanted the other guys to stop.
ReplyDeleteWithout your reviews - I have to download your kindle books or wait for Bayless or go to 411 for a decent review. I mean Chris Brown is funny as a bunny, bro - but I really want to see Scott Keith review Hogan vs. Muta. The greatest Hogan match ever this side of his match with Nurraco in MSG.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't hurt that Bryan wasn't forced to cut a promo about how much better Reigns is and how Reigns deserves the Mania spot over him like he did on Raw.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was watching the Nitros with the reviews and stopped and was waiting but said "fuck it" and started watching them again.
ReplyDeleteI was good with CFB and Scott tag-teaming their way through the 90s - maybe with some other dude to be the clowny Ambrose to CFB's Rollins and Scott's Roman Reigns
ReplyDeletePlease bring back the Nitro reviews. I was really enjoying them.
ReplyDeleteCFB said he thought Daniel Bryan was white bread. He's an idiot. I like Logan's reviews a lot though.
ReplyDeleteYeah but about you can do whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteWasn't great, but I'll take it over him smiling and spamming things like "suffering succotash" like there's no tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteKeith clearly does not have a pulse of what his people want. Overloaded? Nigga, you overloaded it with shit episodes of RAW instead! I started watching the Nitro's only because you reviewed them! And then you stopped and decided it was better to watch crap instead. I never understood why you felt so compelled to review shitty RAW episodes from 95. Truly killed my heart and most importantly, my spirit.
ReplyDeleteTHIS! Keith never reviewed enough of them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Taker's feud with Flair took turns between being awesome and really bad.
ReplyDeleteSAME HERE! CEPT I ACTUALLY STOPPED! :(
ReplyDeleteHE CAN'T RESIST REVIEWING SHITTY ASS RAW EPISODES
ReplyDeleteSmarK Rant's for old Raw and Nitro's are actually my favourite things to read on here!
ReplyDeleteCFB is a saint.
ReplyDeleteBring them back!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see something like AWA TV recaps.
ReplyDeleteScott man, review WCW Thunder
ReplyDeleteUsing the name "Big Bubber" = Sainthood
ReplyDeletenigg....nevermind.
ReplyDeleteThunder Damn near broke his brain.
ReplyDeleteFuck that, bring 'em back!
ReplyDeleteHe's Rey's cousin and the son of the original Rey Misterio.
ReplyDeleteI'll echo people here and say bring em back! Your reviews got me watching early 96 Nitro and it's been fun as hell. Thought I remembered most of WCW from that period but I guess I missed alot of Nitro pre-NWO
ReplyDeleteYeah that one was pretty shitty too.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't remember much from it except 'Taker punking out David Flair, and this being the period where I absolutely couldn't stand Taker's character. The match was good and it had the sweet Arn Anderson run-in, but that's all I got.
ReplyDeleteHuh, I figured Scott stopped because the network didn't upload any more shows and he was out of stuff to do.
ReplyDeleteI want more Scott Sez.
His run with the title was the worst ever. Even worse than Miz having it, though it's damn close.
ReplyDeleteI'd say so.
ReplyDeleteThis Reigns promo... and it's best I've seen from him, not that it's
ReplyDeletesaying much, and who knows how many takes, edits, etc... This writing staff, Vince, whatever, it never ceases to
astonish me how they have absolutely no understanding of their fans. You're seriously trying to sell that people think he can't do it, hard work, blah blah? Sigh. Are they really oblivious as to why people aren't accepting this mediocre talent being shoved down their throat? If the ultimate underdog overcomin' the odds is the only way you can book your babyfaces, then you should be showcasing Daniel Bryan. He's perfect for it.
I'm sure WWE just ceasing the uploads had a lot to do with it. It's a lot more fun to compare the two shows side by side.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened between your previous post in this thread and this one???
ReplyDeleteMy favourite underrated Rey Mysterio moment: he was enough of a made man in WWE that they basically let him name his opponent for Wrestlemania 27. He could've picked almost anyone or any storyline to face and then beaten them, but instead Rey chose to get Cody Rhodes over with that "face injury" storyline and then did the job. Class act.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed them, plus things were really going to start picking up on Nitro.
ReplyDeleteDel Rio with 59%? Hawkins all day, motherfuckers!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Bayless' Shoot interview reviews, the nice show reviews from the other guys and the great chat on the Daily Updates - the main reason I'm on this blog (and have been lurking for over a decade) is for Scott's rants. I want more rants please! On anything! NXT, 1996 Raw, 1991 Wrestling Challenge - I don't care what!
ReplyDeleteIm here for Scott Keith content.
ReplyDeleteRyback is a prime example of the frustrating booking the WWE is serving up these days. He cuts that promo a few months back, which got over quite well and gave the fans some insight into his motivation. But they don't follow up on it, he has little impact on Survivor Series, then gets fired with a whimper and only gets employed again due to papa Cena wiping his ass for him. His Rumble showing is mediocre (kayfabe) and then he gets humiliated by the Authority on Smackdown before Fastlane, humiliated by the Authority at Fastlane (whilst mama Orton destroys them single-handedly)... and then suddenly gets booked strongly again on Raw and Smackdown.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying he should be demolishing everyone in a main event push, but are you keeping the guy strong or not? No sense to it. He'll probably job clean to Big Show next week.
Hell, at least 11 had Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Nick Tuturro.
ReplyDeleteThey should have made the Cena vs Rey match at Summer Slam and Punk should have waited until before Survivor Series for his return. It was one of the most stupid things they've done having him say a shoot promo, that he wants to leave and everything and then he comes back only one week later or so.
ReplyDeleteOrdinarily, I'm very opposed to former World Champions dropping down and being IC Champion. It just never feels right, like I couldn't imagine Lennox Lewis dropping down and challenging for the British title. However, in this instance, with the midcard titles languishing (especially the IC) some really awesome midcard title feuds with Cena and Bryan elevating Barrett, Ziggler, Ambrose etc could be really good.
ReplyDeleteI've got no faith in them doing it well though.
At least 11 had the Blu Brothers
ReplyDeleteHUGE pop for Test at Royal Rumble 2000 too. Dude was over. So they turned him heel and tagged him with Albert...
ReplyDeleteI was a T&A mark, but even so it's a definite demotion.
I was pretty sure the whole, "Jesus, that's a lot of 1996!" jokes were just jokes. I love Scott's reviews, but this post feels like he needs people to validate him. Very unlike Keith.
ReplyDeleteWhy the fuck didn't Axel go over Fandango? That segment can still be funny with him winning.
ReplyDeleteRather see 'em cry in that good ol' Mayo Bowl, AMIRITE?
ReplyDeleteAll of this sounds fucking terrible.
ReplyDeleteCfb is awesome
ReplyDeleteQuestion for you guys: is there even one match at this year's WM that you saying "Oh shit, I can't wait for that!"
ReplyDeleteDon't pussyfoot Keith, you didn't win all of us over by pussyfooting.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. As a matter of fact, the build for 18 was so bad, that was around the time when I stopped watching the first time. I had zero desire to see Rock/Hogan or anything on that card. I think I may have watched HBK/HHH from Summerslam just because of HBK coming back, but it was one match online.
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for Bayless to be "Fuck alla yous, you're gettin the Hawkins shoot and liking it!"
ReplyDeleteSo this year at Wrestlemania, the WWE's two biggest stars are competing for the U.S. and Intercontinental titles while some jabroni is competing for the World title. What a strange state of affairs.
ReplyDeleteMayo.
ReplyDelete"Don't you know that it's the WWE and Wrestlemania that's the star? We could throw Saba Simba vs. Repo Man on as the main event, and these suckers would still buy it, PAL!"
ReplyDelete- Vincent K. McMahon
Any rants'll do, brother! I'm here for rantz and bantz.
ReplyDeleteDid Ryback even get his blowoff match against Rusev?
ReplyDeleteI'd be quite up for Saba Simba vs Repo Man. He could repossess his shield and spear.
ReplyDeleteYou mean GOOD bad knee jokes.
ReplyDeleteBattle Royal!
ReplyDelete- Twelve year old me
He'll blame it on his brother or something.
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of the matches has me saying "Oh shit" but not in a good way.
ReplyDeleteStop being technical at me!
ReplyDeleteWell maybe if he didn't let himself go that could have happened.
ReplyDeleteIf Roman Reigns was booked like Rusev there wouldn't be any doubts about Reign's worthiness to main event Wrestlemania.
ReplyDeleteActually, Tommy, I have no problem with Swags consistently trying and failing against Rusev, and not just because I think he's awesome and want him to get TV time. The two characters are polar opposites and Rusev has vowed to humiliate and destroy everything Swagger holds dear. Let Jack keep trying to be the hero. (Plus, it'll give him a boost when, eventually, he does get the better of Rusev.)
ReplyDeleteGet rid of the other writers!
ReplyDeleteWho gives a shit how many times they've done a backstage segment? If it's pre-planned not shot live or in the case of Smackdown "live", they can shoot it however they like. It's fiction.
ReplyDeleteMayo. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI think the WWE's mindset is that Rollins and Ziggler are over enough that they can afford to eat the pinfall in all these matches. In one-off situations, they're correct, but do that for weeks on end and suddenly they aren't so over.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard anyone say Andre was drunk at shows though.
ReplyDeleteHis uncle? Rey Sr. was his uncle.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind Swagger, but seeing him tap out took away my interest in him. Have him keep fighting or get pinned, but not tap out. That crippled him.
ReplyDeleteI can live with that one actually. It makes Axel come off as all the more delusional.
ReplyDeleteAnd crazy Bob Backlund. I could watch that guy for days.
ReplyDeleteHe comes over as a pretty average guy from the stuff I've seen on WrestleTalkTV
ReplyDeleteLol, you don't have to follow Konnan to know #freerey. Pick up an observer.
ReplyDeleteCan't let Kane or Big Show eat a pin there!
ReplyDeleteAt least 11 had Sid standing outside the ring doing Sid things.
ReplyDeleteRollins was one guy I thought they were protecting ... then I think they forgot why they were protecting him and stopped bothering. Originally they were using Kane and Big Show to help get him over, but since they forgot why, now they're just using Rollins to eat the pin to keep Kane and Big Show strong.
ReplyDeleteOnce Rusev finally loses and gets shuffled down the card, perhaps they will resurrect that feud and let Swagger get one win.
ReplyDeleteHe's not Kane, Big Show, Orton, Cena, Reigns, Big Show, or Kane, so he doesn't Big ShowKane matter.
ReplyDelete
