The WWE Is Out to Seek Revenge Against CM Punk?
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter posted the following on his website's message board about why the WWE is firing back against CM Punk through Dr. Chris Amann's defamation lawsuit:
WWE lost round one to a guy they now believe beat them at their own game and they can't say that so this is what they are doing.
When they settled, they thought he had them dead to rights. Now they think he outworked them and they don't take that as well.
Thoughts about who wins the court case is missing the entire point. It's never going to trial. It's about revenge for them being worked into caving early. At least that's their version. They have to use the doctor because they can't sue.
But they absolutely believe they are in the right."

WWE Hall of Fame Updates
According to PWInsider.com, Kevin Nash is confirmed for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2015, with Shawn Michaels being the one to induct him. It also appears that the Bushwhackers will be announced as entrants tonight on RAW. Also, Larry Zbyszko's induction will likely be postponed to a different year as the 2015 Class as reportedly been finalized.

The Bushwackers? Not Demolition. Is this company on permanent troll mode?
ReplyDeleteSo, yeah. Brock and Reigns. Yep
ReplyDelete"It's about revenge for them being worked into caving early."
ReplyDeleteIt's been said before but bears repeating:Carnies to the very end.
Not for me. I'll read the results and stay here for conversation, but I'm out. Consider me a NXT only fan now.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun to see how the fans react to a * match at Mania
ReplyDeleteEadie sued the WWE. That has to be a factor
ReplyDeleteVery mature, WWE. Good lord.
ReplyDeleteI think the reaction the next night will be more interesting
ReplyDeleteRikishi, the Bushwackers, and Arnold? This may be the worst HOF class if it wasn't for Savage.
ReplyDeleteI need to somehow get a ticket to that Raw. Completely forgot to get one for it.
ReplyDeleteSeems only fitting to stall Zbyszko another year... considering he probably took that cumulative time away from us by stalling his matches.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are ready to walk away from WWE:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-stories/102-japan/40137-guide-to-ordering-new-japan-world
$8.?? (exchange rates are FUN) isn't as catchy, but the product is actually entertaining. Usually.
They will probably stick to a basic formula like Lesnar destroying him with Reigns making the comeback so I don't think it will be that bad in the ring. But the crowd, that's a whole other story.
ReplyDeleteI think kevin Nash is for this year because they do need a top guy to close the show.
ReplyDeleteWould be funny if they did this for like the next 5 years
ReplyDeleteSo, not the worst show I've seen this year, felt more like "whateva". Main was just ok, though it seems like both are just spinning their wheels. In fact, this whole show felt like a placeholder, in which case, it feels like an exercise in "ok, and?"
ReplyDeleteFeels like the last few years that the RAW after WM would sell out quick. I feel like I'd rather go to THAT than a giant stadium show.
ReplyDelete"Will The Undertaker stare into The New Face of Fear at Levi’s® Stadium on March 29?"
ReplyDelete"The Big Dog," "The Juggernaut," "The Vigilante," "The Eater of Worlds," "The New Face of Fear at Levi's® Stadium," and here I thought the WWE was just into giving guys goofy people names that they can trademark.
Yeah, but There are at least 10 other teams worth more than the Bushwackers. At LEAST.
ReplyDeleteBring back Haku and Barbarian? WIN!
ReplyDelete(And by WIN!, I mean WIN! if those two take over the event and dish out beatings to everyone involved.)
When I heard the "new face of fear" line, I gotta admit, the first thing I thought of was Sullivan's WCW stable.
ReplyDelete"Mr. Zbyszko will be inducted by HHH"
ReplyDeleteLarry was a real inspiration to me. I saw his B+ talent and knew how to get ahead in this business with my second-tier, B+ potential. Stephanie is my Donna Gagne.
WWE's response to this Punk thing is the equivalent of a brother putting his hand in his sister's face and saying, "I'm not touching you!!!"
ReplyDeleteHaku, Barbarian, and Wyatt as a stable? I can get behind that!
ReplyDelete"The difference is I married into a WINNING family.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Wyatt's also getting beaten to a pulp.
ReplyDelete(Orton Shrug)
So..WWE...who has a great track record with law suits and legality in general is willing to open themselves up to being judged on how well they take care of their performers and all the dirt that could possibly come out of this just to get back at Punk.....brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI didn't marry into a family business run by a senile, out of tou- oh god
ReplyDeleteSomewhat related, it seems NBC gives less than a frick about WWE, using #WCW for their Wednesday Mysteries of Laura/SVU/Chicago PD lineup.
ReplyDeleteSo when HHH talks about WCW, is Benson gonna show up?
(That's his inner thoughts, of course. Coming out and saying that... he'd be better off jobbing to Ziggler, Ambrose, Bryan, and Sting on the same night.)
ReplyDeleteI always found the Bushwhackers to give pretty hilarious, 'so bad they're good' promos. Especially amusing was the way Butch would blow out a lung while shouting his dialogue all the while looking like he was trying to pass a kidney stone.
ReplyDeleteLarry's induction had been pushed back to a year when we won't have to hear Larry talk about how great Larry is.
ReplyDeleteWhen they were the Sheepherders, they were damn good. Watch their match against the Fantastics from the 86 Crockett Cup. *****, easily
ReplyDeleteSo never, then.
ReplyDeleteHaku: Roman Reigns, you have disgraced Polynesian wrestlers long enough!
ReplyDeleteBarbarian: HEADBUTT!
Warlord for some reason: POWERSLAM!!!!
"BUT THIS ISNT MEXICO!"
ReplyDelete(Mills Lane: ON)
ReplyDelete"I'LL ALLOW IT!"
(Mills Lane: OFF)
well if they wait long enough....
ReplyDeleteYou want Zombie Zbyszko accepting? Even between the "BRAINS!", he'll put himself over.
ReplyDeleteIs that for woman crush wednesday or whatever? That is a popular hashtag so they are probably just jumping on board.
ReplyDeleteI would not be offended by Kevin Sullivan returning in a managerial role, maybe booking Main Event.
ReplyDeleteThink Larry is bitter at all that he was pushed aside for the Bushwackers? Think he is mentioning that bitterness to anyone right now?
ReplyDelete"You killed Zombie Zbyszko!"
ReplyDelete"He was a zombie?"
It is, though I was unaware of it's use outside of that promo.
ReplyDelete"BRUUUUUUUUNO!!!"
ReplyDeleteI legend....I drew with...brains....bruno
ReplyDeleteWell she should. HHH himself committed a sex crime against Katie Vick. That's right up Benson's alley.
ReplyDeletesee I want guys that either deserve it because of their career or guys that you feel good about getting a moment in the spot light to go in the HOF. Larry fits neither category for me.
ReplyDeleteYeah it has been a Twitter thing for a while now.
ReplyDeleteAre you aware that to watch NXT you pay the same 10 bucks to the same people? Nielsen ratings don't apply to an app,so if you have Network access,WWE got what they wanted, you're only denying yourself a potentially fun show by not watching Wrestlemania. Vince just wants the 10 bucks,he's not going to care if you don't watch it.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to come off as really goofy.
ReplyDeleteBTW, caught the Hudson podcast, very cool, though TBH, the voice tracks could use a bit more eq, and maybe the bumper music could run a bit longer/underneath> Minor production quibbles, I know, just something that jumped out at me.
ReplyDeleteOoooo, good reference!
ReplyDeleteI try not to be a doom and gloom guy....but is there seriously really anything to look forward to in WWE anymore?
ReplyDeleteLarry Z? Nooooo...he's probably chuckling it off and shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly.
ReplyDeleteDusty promos?
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Cena vs Rock III this year than Reigns vs. Lesnar.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I will pass that along and I agree.
ReplyDeleteWe have a couple of different guys doing recording/editing. I do a majority of the wrestling stuff on my mac but the guys who use PCs and those editing programs seems to struggle a bit more with that stuff.
I don't mind the talking and stalling as much as I hate the stupid smirk. And saying "new world ODOR" then 15 minutes of dead air so you can grasp his highbrow pun.
ReplyDeleteSmarkamania should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you a giant pussy?
ReplyDeleteI am so in on this ten-car pileup.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose hijinks?
ReplyDeleteThe Founding of the Roman Empire?
ReplyDeleteI so wish it results in more lawsuits that they lose to former performers.
ReplyDeleteZbyszko being delayed a year. the joke practically just writes itself.
ReplyDeleteIf the rest of the show disappoints, I think there is a good chance the crowd revolts against this match.
ReplyDeleteThose guys are in their 50s now and could still probably kick the shit out of the entire current roster.
ReplyDeleteit would be great if this blows up in their face and every malpractice and looking the other way performed by their doctors comes to light
ReplyDeleteOne thing WWE is doing right (so far) is not having Sting talk. Though I keep hoping for his WCW theme, which fits far better than this crap they're using now.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Big Show and Kane?
ReplyDeleteWyatt Holograms?
55 year old man fighting the guy who killed WCW?
Ziggler jobbing?
..Did I mention Big Show...he has rather large hands
I'll be there to add. I'll stop by a Farmer's Market before the show to throw trash into the ring a la WCW.
ReplyDeleteWhat you don't like the "welcome to Friday Fright Night Movies" music?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting PUMPED for Wrestlemania! Reigns Train in high gear aimed to plow into The Beast Incarnate, cowcatcher first!
ReplyDeleteChoo-Choo!!!
But he's a great talker! And kind of a crappy wrestler at this point. He needs to start talking to get this moribund "angle" going.
ReplyDeleteI really hope he doesn't wrestle in a T-shirt this time.
ReplyDeletewhy does he need to talk? HHH is doing a fine job pointing out that Sting was a big deal to that company that HHH killed 14 years ago so clearly this is an exciting match we all want to see.
ReplyDeletehe is 55 years old...I do
ReplyDeleteThe BUSHWHACKERS?
ReplyDeleteJesus tapdancing Christ.
If they mention their NWA/territories history, then I'd be more ok.
ReplyDeleteBut, WWE, so...
Aside from what Sting will look like (and I'm guessing the same as he always does) there's really nothing at WM I want to see. Easy pass for me, maybe if others take the same approach we won't get what they tell us to like because they know we'll watch it anyway.
ReplyDeleteWCW to 99 % of the world means Woman Crush Wednesday. I'm sure when NBC came up with that ad,they were thinking of what every woman posts every Wednesday ,not a wrestling promotion that closed 20 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem. Even though most fans don't like the product currently, they will still watch.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out Wrestlemania just to see how low they can go. It's going to be a perverse exercise in determining the limits of my willpower.
ReplyDeleteUnless Wrestlemania completely blows me away with awesomeness (definitely not holding my breath for this one), I'm cancelling the Network. No sense in shelling out $10/month to a company that continues to tell me to go fuck myself.
It might be the lamest WM Main Event of All-Time.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this. Except for me, the value in the network is the archives; boring, monthly, trolling "events" are a bonus (depending on where you stand on the current product).
ReplyDeleteI've gone away for years at a time before. I have every intention of taking a long break after the Raw I kinda regret buying tickets for in April.
ReplyDeleteIts the result of the WWE creating a monopoly in wrestling.
ReplyDeleteVince: There's no shame being beaten by the best
ReplyDeleteHHH: Actually, Punk didn't seem all that sm...
Vince: We were beaten by the best, son!
Yeah, but Bushwhackers? Are they going to be the new Koko B Ware barometer.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad really.
ReplyDeleteOh my God.
ReplyDeleteHe even stalled doing commentary. I genuinely never even thought about it that way.
WWE doesn't dare let Reigns close the show, right? They can't close it with Triple H vs. Sting because you know Sting isn't winning. Maybe they do Reigns winning, then Rollins cashing in?
ReplyDeleteYes it is and it will most likely stay this way forever.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching SVU several seasons ago when Russo started booking it.
ReplyDeleteThe worst was him burying the Lucha guys by constantly whining "THIS ISNT MEXICO" when Tenay would try to get them over.
ReplyDeleteTo quote lumber from office space, going to have to go ahead a disagree with you there. At least they're trying something with Reigns. granted, DB is more over and had a logical story to tell, but recycling Cena/Rock again would be dull. I'm biased as I had no desire to see the first two matches either (and have never watched them now that I think about it)
ReplyDeleteI know they were a respected team back then, but did they draw money?
ReplyDeleteThey were a team for a long time doing a hardcore style before entering the WWF. They were actually ahead of their time.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is overthinking this. They absolutely will have Reigns go over and end the show celebrating the title. There wont be any swerves. We're getting that and liking it.
ReplyDeleteAs long as he doesn't tear his quad going up to do his speech,
ReplyDeleteNot really. Kinda big in Mid-South, but there are literally a couple dozen more teams I'd induct.
ReplyDeleteI'm not diminishing what they did, but that alone isn't really HoF worthy, unless they drew a ton of money in Australia or New Zealand or whatever.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is really good. The second one isn't.
ReplyDeleteHaku: Wyatt's ok.
ReplyDeleteBarbarian: Yeah.
Wyatt: (Death rattle)
Haku: Was.
Or Cena vs. Lesnar III (or is it technically IV, because of the Triple Threat)
ReplyDeleteI suppose. I guess we can hope that Lesnar signed a new deal and will retain.
ReplyDeleteProbably no more or less than what Rikishi drew
ReplyDeleteI posted a little bit about it in the recap thread but Meltzer was pretty much doom and gloom and he's generally glass half full on most things.
ReplyDeleteHe basically conceded that they're just out of touch at this point.
In typical WWE fashion, they will wait until Ziggler, Rowan and Ryback have absolutely no heat left before giving them the "big win" over the heels. Then they'll shrug and say "They won the feud, what do you want us to do? It's not our fault you were impatient and couldn't wait 6 months."
ReplyDeleteKnow what's sad? The only thing I really remember about the show last night was the various audio issues; Lillian screwing up twice, Cole being Cole, annoying guy in front of the house mic, stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be suurprised if the Too Cool stuff was a hot merch seller in 2000.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of hoping Brock does a 360 sell of the Superman Punch to really put over Reigns' power.
ReplyDeleteBur Rikishi was a Legend From The Attitude Era!
ReplyDeleteOh, no wait, he wasn't.
I thought the main event was a ***1/2 match but then again, it was a match that didn't make much sense as no one was going to automatically cheer for Reigns with the Bryan endorsement afterwards. I can see what they were going for but that was not going to get Reigns over enough to be a top face or even someone who could main event Mania.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Brock drops an anvil that says "ACME" on it on Reigns, only for Reigns to no-sell it.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'll remember from this PPV was that it put me to sleep.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Cena calling the moves.Pretty sure the audience in the uppermost rows could hear him.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't get my money. Hulu does
ReplyDeleteNothing could ever be worse on the house mic than the "Let's Go Cena!" kid from SummerSlam.
ReplyDeleteSheepherders wrestled all over the world too. They were much older when the did the comedy stuff in the WWE.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, that was WAY loud, jumped right out at me, and took me right out of the match.
ReplyDeleteThey ARE playing a human game of chess.
ReplyDeleteI liked Larry, but he would do crap like that and it will always bother me.
ReplyDeleteHeenan would say the same thing and then talk about how amazed he was at them.
So they've tried to use an all time great (The Rock) and the hero of everyone who appreciates wrestling skill (Bryan) to try and get Reigns over. So after he beats Lesnar will Lesnar shake his hand and then have Austin come out and toast with him?
ReplyDeleteI'm really don't care about WrestleMania. I'll watch it if I'm not doing anything that night, but I'm not going out of my way to watch it live and if I don't watch it live, I'll probably do a lot of fastforwarding.
ReplyDeleteReigns/Bryan was the best match Reigns is capable of right now. There's no way Reigns/Lesnar is even close to as good as that.
Sting/HHH is a match that screams for blood, because it's not going to be a technically good match, so it needs to be a brawl, but WWE's no blood poilcy screws that up. So it'll be a kind of blah brawl.
Undertaker/Wyatt will be awful. I don't see any way it's not.
If we get Big Show/Kane, that will be awful.
Orton/Rollins in theory should be good, but will probably be about WWE starfucking Jon Stewart now.
Bryan/Sheamus will be ok, but disappointing because it's meaningless and Bryan could have better matches with a number of opponents.
Cena/Rusev will be good, I'll watch that, but you already know the ending, so it takes some of the steam out of it.
And then you don't know what the rest of the card will be but the possibilities aren't great.
Rhodes Brothers. That was bad last night, and the feud has no heat.
Miz/Mizdow. It's stale at this point. The crowd would probably be hot for Mizdow so it might be enteratining, but I doubt it will be a good match.
Whatever the Divas match ends up being will be bad unless it involves NXT women.
Whatever the Tag Title match ends up being will either be a bad fatal fourway or a stale Usos/Cesaro & Kidd match since they'll probably fight each other 10 more times between now and then.
The Battle Royal if they do it will have almost no star power unless they throw NXT guys in it.
I hope Brock tries to break out the Shooting Star again.
ReplyDeleteNot really. Be one of those guys who cares only about matches being decent, I guess. And watches with the sound down, and brain off.
ReplyDeleteFrom a critical wrestling standpoint, nothing was actively bad (even Paige dragged Nikki, kicking and screaming, to a decent match), I just got an overall feeling of "meh", while the finishes were head scratching. I mean, how hard is it for them to do Rocky 3 with Cena; he gets beat clean and needs to try harder.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't rocket science.
Hogan will then come out and endorse him, saying "NOT EVEN MY 24 INCH PYTHONS ARE A MATCH FOR YOU BROTHERJACKDUDE"
ReplyDeleteYeah, they're going to run with it until it gets over, or Vince realizes it's failed.
ReplyDeleteRant: I skipped the PPV for Walking Dead last night but did watch a bit of the replay before going to bed. The Network stream quality was still pure shit. I'm 100% sure that it's because of the increased traffic and WWE using the shittiest and smallest amount of servers possible, but it's ridiculous that I'm still locked into a six month commitment AND have to pay $9.99 during the free month, and the quality is still terrible.
ReplyDeleteI hope that someday one of the old-school carnies they induct refuses to break character and spends their whole HoF speech heeling it up on the mic and threatening to beat the shit out of Pat Patterson. Did this ever happen in the early Hall of Fame days?
ReplyDelete"WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE ROMAN EMPIRE RUNS WILD ON YOU BROTHER"
ReplyDeleteThe device and the region seem to have a lot to do with it. Ever since I switched from the Xbox 360 to a new Roku 3 I've had no problems.
ReplyDeleteThe important thing with the HoF is that they all come out before the main event and make sure to raise Reigns hand in the air and point to the sign. Mine as well scrap any match involving Dolph or Bryan so that they give that at least 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteGet Hulu for NXT.
ReplyDeleteBut he was AWA World Champion!
ReplyDeleteI thought the women's match was bad. I'd give that 1/2*
ReplyDeleteI am the 1% that has no idea what you are talking about
ReplyDeleteIts sad they are seemingly reducing Bryan to a meaningless match at Mania. Who does he face? Either Sheamus or Ziggler at this point.
ReplyDeleteThey are working on a holographic Randy Savage to present him with the belt.
ReplyDeleteThat's the only option that I see; I guess that's okay if they get a match that reaches ****. They could have just started building to that after the Rumble instead of the match with Reigns.
ReplyDeleteI love the faux idea of HoFs coming out to judge Reigns like it was the Slam-Dunk Contest. 10!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's not what you want before the biggest event of the year
ReplyDeleteHe did call the main event really great in his website report though, haven't listened to the radio show though
ReplyDeleteThey were stupid for even bringing back Bryan for the Rumble match unless he was winning. And its astonishing how they are booking Reigns at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhen....not if, when it disappoints
ReplyDeleteProbably, but it's unlikely to happen except out of fun and laughs. It's too public for that to go on now.
ReplyDeleteHe liked the match. He just really doesn't like the direction they've chose. I think he even says they did the right thing if they're going with Reigns but they shouldn't be going with Reigns.
ReplyDeleteYou CAN break out of that six month commitment if you want. Go and call or chat with the WWE Network Customer Service, explain you want to cancel the Network and you should be able to (it'll just keep going for the rest of the month you've already paid for)
ReplyDeleteThat main event will be a plodding disaster. Once they hit their first dead/rest spot, the crowd is going to DIE like Bret Hart beating on Vince McMahon/Cole getting heat on Lawler.
ReplyDeleteI think I might be more pissed off that Ziggler lost to Kane last night than Bryan losing. I knew that latter would happen anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhen jobbing out the most over guy in the six man, at least have the second most over guy be the one to pin him.
I hope this company dies.
ReplyDeleteStream is fine for me on PC and PS3 (I'd assume 360 as well; we've got two of the newer "slim" models in the house), it's Android that I have issues with, constant stalling, and the quality is fairly awful.
ReplyDeleteIt made no sense for him to take the pin, especially since Rowan's leg was worked over for a majority of the match. And Rollins should have scored the pin too. But that is the least of this company's concerns right now.
ReplyDeleteI don't even think that matters. They've made up their mind they're running with Reigns. At actually at this point they may as well go all in with it. The booking has made no sense at all and involving DB in this was a waste of everyone's time, but might be time to see if RR works out on top. If not, points for trying I guess.
ReplyDeleteMust be my region, because I get the same quality on multiple devices (home computer, work computer, phone) over three different wifi networks
ReplyDeleteAnd for what? The logical end-game for Bryan the character is getting another shot at the World title that he never lost - unless he's involved in some #1 contender match (I wouldn't mind seeing a Fatal Four-Way or something similar), then it doesn't matter how many snowflakes you give to his match.
ReplyDeleteHe'll be assigned to do "man on the street" interviews in San Francisco. Vince will spend the whole weekend making comments implying Daniel is gay and winking at everybody.
ReplyDeleteLesner will not only shake Reigns hand but he will also give him Sable since there is no way Lesner could please her like Reigns can
ReplyDeleteRowan's done like 80 clean jobs in the past month. It wouldn't do any more harm to have him eat the pin again last night.
ReplyDeleteThat attempted spinning kick by Rowan into the ring post was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteIt was always set in stone.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there's plenty of room on the "I hope Vince dies" bandwagon. I'm driving!
It shows you what Vince thinks of Bryan. Which isn't all that much right now.
ReplyDeleteIt was. Highlight of the match
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing. Reigns winning has been the plan since the Summer. Why the surprise that it will likely still happen?
ReplyDeleteBecause the fans have rejected it since the Summer. Any sensible business would at least give the fans something that they want. But Reigns has the proverbial rocket strapped to his ass, whether the fans care or not. It's not about making money. It's about Vince doing what he wants.
ReplyDeleteReigns will have her screaming "sufferin' succotash, son!" in no time
ReplyDeleteHey we always complain about them having no long term planning....
ReplyDeleteBecause the E looked like they might have been hesitating on that after the Rumble. I think within a week I realized they were just going to Bryan to make Reigns look and perform better.
ReplyDeleteThe fans wanted Bryan. So they had Bryan enter the Rumble and get eliminated fairly. And Reigns won the Rumble fair and square. Bryan complained . So Reigns put his title shot on the line, even though he didn't have to, and still won clean. So Bryan fans can't complain now. And Roman Reigns is the Second Greatest Superstar of All Time(behind HHH of course).
ReplyDelete"Hey Daniel, what're you doing?" "Just cruising"
ReplyDeleteThat is how Vince sees things though. Reigns is his baby too. He was scripting his promos and everything. Vince is all behind this guy.
ReplyDeleteListening now. In between coughs, Meltzer does seem almost lost for words.
ReplyDeleteAnd talking about his beanstalk.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe Reigns and Lesnar will have some completely unexpected chemistry like Undertaker and Batista and will deliver a surprisingly good match.
ReplyDeleteMSL said something on the MLW podcast that was interesting. He's friends with Hall and Nash and they told him that Vince said he'd rather see the building half empty cheering the guy the WWE wants to be the number one guy than the building be packed cheering on the guy the WWE doesn't want to be pushed.
ReplyDeleteI hope that isn't true.
The more I think about it, the more I'm surprised Vince and the E relented last year. I wonder what got him to change his mind. Was it the national attention? Or was it Punk?
ReplyDeleteIt can always be a combo of things, but I imagine there was a back breaker where they had to go with Bryan.
I actually thought that was brilliant, although obviously not planned. The lone child's voice cheering for Cena while he was being absolutely destroyed added a very poignant quality to the whole thing. It was dark, sad, and cinematic.
ReplyDeleteThe audience completely shit all over Batista even after the Rumble. Reigns was not booed as bad as he was on the RAW's following their wins.
ReplyDeletePeople were actually excited for Undertaker vs Batista, though.
ReplyDelete"OH RLY?" - Shareholders
ReplyDeleteIn order for the Samoan Superman to look good, he has to snap Brock Zodner's neck at WM.
ReplyDeleteSo once again, the blame is on the fans. Damn us fans!
ReplyDeleteWe had to boo longer and more severely.
ReplyDeleteyeah, but a reaction is better than no reaction. People still cared. Here people don't care anymore. And I'm sure the backlash against Batista winning last year would be nowhere near as bad as what''s gonna happen this year.
ReplyDeleteProfitability be damned, that raven-haired Adonis sure entertains my sport, PAL!
ReplyDeleteShake harder boy!
ReplyDeleteSo according to Triple H's podcast interview and other interviews I've read online, NXT is for the diehard wrestling fans that they know are subscribers and the current product (RAW, SD, PPVs) are for the current generation fans.
ReplyDeleteThey kind of have it backwards if you think about it.
Not stupid, cynically greedy. They knew it would increase interest (buys) from people who wanted to see him win. Their opinion of the fans (their customers) is at an all-time low right now. They know they can shit all over Bryan & Ziggler and lazily strap a rocket to Roman's ass because they know--at worst--they are guaranteed the same level of mediocre profitability no matter what. All they have to do is occasionally throw the smarts a bone and troll us into thinking they've seen the error of their ways. They haven't.
ReplyDeleteKind of? It's very backwards.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - much like how Ambrose randomly gave up getting his revenge on Rollins and was one of the many reasons he lost out on his heat, Bryan will follow in kind by basically giving up on getting the World title, and his character will never be the same.
ReplyDeleteYea of everything that could have happened in that match Show and Kane getting the win ....SMH
ReplyDeleteWell, this is will be it for me for a while.
ReplyDeleteAs of last night I haven't watched more than 15 minutes of a RAW in over eight months, and I haven't watched a PPV since Mania 30. I refuse to pay for the Network on principle, so I can't even watch WWE's one good wrestling program (NXT). I think that officially means I'm no longer a WWE fan even though I still read up on the results. In that span of time WWE hasn't done anything to make me want to tune it. With Ziggler and Bryan both losing last night, I can't say I'm even looking forward to whatever busywork they get at Mania 31.
I still firmly believe WWE is going to end up turning to Hogan in order to fix this mess because Reigns can't possibly carry the ball. They'd go with Austin or Rock, but Austin wants nothing to do with it and Rock's last run didn't exactly pan out as they hoped and he has much better things to do. They even tried using Batista to get something going and that fell flat. Cena and Hogan will be the focus of the shows come this summer because WWE refuses to run with the one legit upcoming star that they have (Bryan) and refuse to pay their other big star to work more (Lesnar).
I'm still going to be around here to contribute to discussions from time-to-time, but my enthusiasm for wrestling is at the lowest it's ever been in 25 years of being a fan and I just can't justify spending time every day discussing something I don't have much enthusiasm for just because I liked it two decades ago. I have much more important things to think about that how WWE is going to find new ways to leave money on the table. I'm just too bitter about something I should be enjoying.
I've had a lot of fun here, even with the jagoffs who don't realize that Hogan is coming back for one last match (or two), and it will be the most exciting thing to happen in WWE in 2015. Why? Because WWE is incapable of constructing anything more exciting for its main program than a 60 year old man coming back to relive his glory days one last time. Sure, he's the biggest star of all time, but you don't get to the point where you have to pull Hank Aaron out of the mothballs and stick him fourth in the lineup. At least Hogan knows how to entertain a crowd though, something that Reigns can't do.
I know that over the the last several months I've lost a lot of
things and one of them has been my smile. And, and I know it doesn't
mean a whole lot to everybody else, but it means a lot to me. So I have to go back and fix myself, and take care of myself, and I have
to go back and I have to find my smile because somewhere along the line
I lost it and I don't care, really, I don't care if it's unpopular, and
I don't care if people want to make fun of me because I'm an
emotional guy.
I'll be in and out, but I'll see you all full-time for the Summer of Hogan
The E pretty much has everything backwards.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the big PPV isn't in October for Fall sweeps.
You sure you're still locked in to six months? I got an email about 3 months ago saying I was no longer committed, could cancel anytime after November.
ReplyDeleteIt was good when you believed it. It's just a sad gimmick at this point.
ReplyDeleteI blame us, the BoDers that bought in.
Vince's attention span is like a gnat's. I'm surprised he's stayed with Roman this long before getting bored.
ReplyDeleteHas there ever been a publicly traded company that seems so intent on sabotaging its own product without something illegal or illegitimate going on behind the scenes?
ReplyDeleteThis is like the CEO of McDonald's coming out and saying that he doesn't think the new Clubhouse Bacon Burger is very good at all and he doesn't understand why anyone would buy it when the Big Mac is right there. Then he yells into the cashier's headset and tells him to call anyone who orders that burger a moron, asks that "moron" to still pay $9.99 for it, then wonder why sales are down.
