Howdy Blog O' Doomers!
Well the Road to Wrestlemania comes to its final turn tonight.
I will admit, the ending last week with Sting and Orton cleaning house got me a little interested. It looked cool, it was fun, it promoted a couple of programs and worked for all involved. I am an easy sell though because I love Wrestlemania. Even if I'm not crazy about the booking or the direction I want to see the pagentry, see the ring entrance set up, check out the atmosphere, etc.
As for the Wrestlemania threads, I think we'll stick with last year's plan of having a thread for pre-show and doing them hourly for the show. Disqus probably can't handle 5-10K posts on a single thread. Last year we hit about 10-12K between the five of them. If someone has a better idea, I'm all ears.
As for TV tonight
Wrestlemania go home show for RAW
New Episodes of Better Call Saul, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, American Dad, Scorpion, Bates Motel, etc. etc.
7 NHL Games, 6 NBA Games, Second Round of Women's NCAA tournament begins...Probably some Men's NIT too.
Enjoy and Keep it Clean!

ReplyDeleteAin't nothing gonna break my stride
ReplyDeleteNobody's gonna slow me down
Oh no
I got to keep on moving
So I just finished marathoning Arrested Development on Netflix again and then the first thing I do is start episode 1 again. Already 5 episodes in. I need help.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Cap 2 for maybe the 15th time, still awesome
ReplyDeleteNO TOUCHING
ReplyDeleteso awesome. Is Cap 3 out yet? Goddammit.
ReplyDeleteNow that I got my new PS3 last week, I can finally crack open my Cap 2 Blu-Ray
ReplyDeleteRead a book.
ReplyDeleteI've got a rotation going on with Parks, The League and Arrested Development.
ReplyDeleteOh god don't get me started on Parks & Rec for the 1,000th time.
ReplyDelete*Predator takes the mask off*
ReplyDeleteYou're one ugly motherfucker.
Ah, another night of playing old video games and occasionally looking up at Raw.
ReplyDeleteI got KOF XII, it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI said OLD video games!
ReplyDeleteFor me another night of me doing something else and then reading Raw results.
ReplyDeleteThis match SUCKS.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to rip through the DKC games. The first 2, DKC3 is fucking garbage.
ReplyDeleteget KOF 98'.
ReplyDeleteWhat match?
ReplyDeleteCena/Miz
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to run through those DKC games. She's not a gamer. Never played any games aside from DKC but she was weirdly great at them.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a PS1 emulator.
ReplyDeleteHe's just warming up for the real thing. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat about Ishii/Tanahashi, what's your rating? Ishii is awesome isn't?
ReplyDeleteThere's a special edition for PS2, It's good.
ReplyDeleteThose two had black hole chemistry. By my count they had 3 PPV matches and all 3 SUCKED.
ReplyDeleteROOOOON
ReplyDeleteGOOOOOOH
GET TO DA CHOPPAAAAA
"Sucks" would be a huge improvement.
ReplyDeleteFrom G1 isn't, I love that match. I gave ****1/2, I like how Tanahashi is the heel in this one, he lets Ishii play the underdog.
ReplyDeleteI bought FF13 and FF13-2 this weekend, got about 10 minutes into 13...wow...I could've spent that $40 on equipment for pegging, that would've been a better use of it
ReplyDeleteIF BLIIIDS
ReplyDeleteWE CAM KIUL.
Ever play Capcom vs SNK? That game was the shit.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird to hear younger people talk about how their Mom/Dad was good at a game I played when I was in high school. Makes me feel ancient.
ReplyDelete"My Dad is AWESOME at CastleVania!"
And I'm like, where's my razor blade...?
Stop after FF 12.
ReplyDeleteYou actually bought them?
ReplyDeleteWhat's a good street racing game for the PS3 that's kinda arcadey? Not trying to do the full GT stuff here.
ReplyDeleteHave CVS 2, MVC2, I'm fighting game fanatic.
ReplyDeleteYeah when went to eat lunch on Saturday we passed by a gamestop so I bought them for $20 apiece, no idea why I did that lol
ReplyDeleteMy dad fucking RULED at Halo 4 back in the day!
ReplyDeleteBurnout Paradise.
ReplyDeleteSo how does The Rock's Cousin hard sell tonight's show?
ReplyDelete13 is Run Straight: The Game
ReplyDeleteYou got a wild hair up your ass. It happens. One of my great passions is going into GameStop and buying a bunch of cheap ass used games.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of Cap 2 they show Agent Hill taking a lie detector at Stark Industries...I'm so confused, Tony Start totally hung out with her on the hellacarrier in A1, he knows who that person is
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's what I've found so far, it's like the opening map to 7 but...it just doesn't end
ReplyDelete"Anyone who doesn't cheer for me sucks dick."
ReplyDeleteI look at it the other way, I show my niece the classic NES/SNES games and she's like "you guys actually played this crap?"
ReplyDeleteGrid.
ReplyDeleteLots of oscillating fans and banana peels Morgle!
ReplyDeleteIt finally ends, but twenty minutes before the game does.
ReplyDeleteOh jesus lol, yeah I'll give it to my nephew then he could probably dig it
ReplyDelete*Shudders*...
ReplyDeleteMy ex-wife's cousin's kid said that to me about the original Super Mario Brothers. I nodded. But it was an angry nod.
Big problem with shooters today is that there's just go straight and kill, no open maps to find other ways or bigger stages.
ReplyDeleteMVC2 is my favorite fighting game ever. So many combination pieces, and I'm actually not bad with Servbot.
ReplyDeleteEASILY the worst non-mmo FF.
ReplyDeleteDouchey Cavs Guy is another superfan that's popped up at all of the recent Manias.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda in that boat. I came around when the N64 and PS1 were coming out but we also had an SNES and tons of games. So I have some appreciation for them but I also at times feel "you guys actually played this crap?"
ReplyDeleteI'm a total sucker for 11, but 14 was terrible for sure
ReplyDeleteI've not watched an episode of Raw since Fast Lane, after a solid 10 years of not missing a single one, other than the occasional Christmas episode. I have no inclination to watch tonight's either.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sad, sad indictment of the current 'Road to Wrestlemania' - I can pretty much predict tonight's show will open with a 20 minute Rollins/J&J/Kane/Big Show/Orton talking segment, with maybe a couple of other faces getting involved like Henry, setting up the main event tag match. There will be a throwaway Divas match - AJ v Nikki, say, with Paige and Brie at ringside, which will end in shenanigans. There will be a short IC title clusterfuck, ending with Barrett or Ambrose standing tall (Ziggler or Bryan as an outside bet). We will see a Sheamus promo video. Triple H will come out and talk for a bit, Sting will inturrupt and possibly point his bat at someone. Rusev and Cena will have a talkie segment. Miz and Sandow will have a brief backstage skit/altercation. Lesnar will stand still, expressionless, as Heyman talks about how great Reigns could be, if he wasn't facing Lesnar. We will see a video package about Roman Reigns' Samoan heritage.
In the three hour show, there will be a grand total of 35-45 minutes of Wrestling. Around 80% of the IWC will fall asleep or go off on an online rant.
Have I missed anything?
I still play Burnout 3 on the old Xbox. Great great game.
ReplyDeleteMy team in MVC2
ReplyDeleteCable, Jill, Jin.
It's the RAW Go Home (... You're Drunk) Show!
ReplyDeleteShe was born just after the 360 came out.
ReplyDelete"2 buttons? Where's the analog stick?"
Don't even touch Atari 2600. That's when I came around.
ReplyDeleteI have burnout 3 on ps2.
ReplyDeleteI don't play them because I don't want to play an MMO. I want to play a Final Fantasy dammit.
ReplyDeleteToo early for me lol. I can dig on SNES but it's a crap shoot before that.
ReplyDeleteEven I think the 2600 sucked, and I was born in 1982.
ReplyDeleteN64 never grew on me besides the AKI wrestling games.
ReplyDeleteSpidey, Cap America and Hulk. Also Venom, Sabretooth aND Gambit.
ReplyDeleteAh, he's a Cleveland media guy that's buddy buddy with WWE: https://twitter.com/nathanzegura
ReplyDeleteYeah there is that, XI they've finally made basically totally soloable as the amount of people willing to pay monthly fees dropped to almost nothing
ReplyDeleteSo now it kind of is a normal Final Fantasy you can play at your own leisure, I just love it because due to the MMO aspect there is SOOOOO much story, they basically incorporated every character from every game into it too which is fun
I loved Adventure. That was my all-time favorite 2600 game. Combat, though. THAT was a game.
ReplyDeleteI would love a deathmatch shooter where there's an expansive map, full of buildings with multiple floors, and the focus is on a careful, sneaky stalking of your opponent, the aim to be snipe them before they snipe you.
ReplyDeleteI hate the madcap leaping lunacy of the likes of Destiny and its brethren.
Second team
ReplyDeleteCable, Iron Man, War Machine.
Doesn't mean he'd trust her, especially in light of hydra in cap 2
ReplyDeleteCombat is the ultimate drinking game.
ReplyDeleteDef Jam Vendetta. What could have been.
ReplyDeleteRemember Hydra have face masking technology - like Agent 33 in AoS...
ReplyDeleteAgain, would be preferable to reality
ReplyDeleteIf you wanna go crazy, do it right like Black for PS2.
ReplyDeleteI could never get past the controller, it was horrible.
ReplyDeleteAnd it had the misfortune of coming out when I was turning 16 so cars and touching breasts with my elbow were far bigger priorities.
That's incredibly unfair - Pat Paterson is firmly behind Roman Reigns' push.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I used to spend HOURS playing that game which had a shit-ton of strategy for how simple it was. Fly around/drive around, fire at one another. What could be better?
ReplyDeleteWhat's weird is they built a FF for the MMO age, which was 12, and than went with garbage 13 instead.
ReplyDeleteDef Jam fight for NY is MILES better, they ditched the bad stuff. It's my favorite game ever.
ReplyDeleteScarface is on! Then Goodfellas!
ReplyDeleteI was born before Pong.
ReplyDeleteFUCK THE DIAZ BROTHERS THOSE COCKAROACHES.
ReplyDelete[most homoerotic handshake ever put to cinema]
ReplyDeleteSimple is better sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSmaller, less diverse library than the PS1 with weak third party support while costing more and lacking the pros of CD-based games (especially with audio), but there's still some amazing titles on it: Mario 64, Zelda OOT and MM, Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel, GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, Mario Kart and DKR....ok basically anything Nintendo or Rare.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I WANT to include the above exchange on the Best Of Monday Night Mic...
ReplyDeleteDo you have a sister I can bang?
ReplyDeleteSo long Mel
ReplyDeleteThere goes the female fans...
ReplyDeleteI will have to check it out. Never thought the AKI engine outside the ring would be any good; tell me I'm wrong?
ReplyDeleteOh man... I got some good elbow tit back in the day...
ReplyDeleteWhat an atrocious main event. Worst ever, dare I say.
ReplyDeleteMuch like IX, 27 is an otherwise mediocre show that's made worse by booking retardation and an awful ending.
I'm not sure why or how it works, I just know that it does
ReplyDeleteThat game was good but could've been great if the AI didn't go to absurd Cena lengths to come back in every match, but that's par for the Aki course
ReplyDeleteI'm the youngest. So no.
ReplyDeleteThey kinda ditch the slow style to a more arcade flow.
ReplyDeleteOn cable?
ReplyDeleteI liked some other games on the system--but the AKI wrestling games alone make the system worth it.
ReplyDeleteAlmost seems like an accident... then you get to your 20s and women "accidentally" put their breasts on you.
ReplyDeleteCircle of life.
You're wrong; it's really fun and makes good use of multiple disciplines, plus a really good Story Mode. Just watch out for the cheating AI
ReplyDeleteI thought that was great, made a tough challenge. Snoop Dogg is one tough final boss.
ReplyDeleteMy stepdad was a prodigy. He used to destroy everyone on Doom.
ReplyDeleteWhat channel?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the MMA Diaz brothers when I say that line.
ReplyDeleteSpike
ReplyDeleteIt's a RAW ending at WM. Good lord.
ReplyDeleteSi
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah the tit on the shoulder, god bless data entry jobs
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, never tire of either.
ReplyDeleteNot worth watching if it's all cut up.
ReplyDeleteFight for NY has the best story in a fighting game, no shit.
ReplyDeleteI do too lol
ReplyDeleteI know everyone harps on how bad the announcing is, but rewatching the Goldust/Stardust match at Fastlane brought it home for me. Right before the match, Dusty talks Goldust out of trying to hurt Cody. Stardust is so mentally unstable that he can't concentrate on offense for more than a few moves at a time.
ReplyDeleteEven for two solid guys, that's a hell of a hard story to tell. They were intentionally limiting the in-ring contact to advance a storyline, and relying heavily on the announcing crew to convey the plot. Naturally, the announcers completely missed the story and spent the entire time goofing on both guys, rendering the whole feud DOA.
It was still a pretty rough match, but it could've at least been something with a competent booth.
MK9 gets my vote but it's up there. I was surprised how much I enjoyed that mode.
ReplyDeleteFiancee and I are watching it now
ReplyDeleteOk looks like I'm trolling the game stop bi s tonight instead of watching RAW.
ReplyDeleteFUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!
ReplyDeleteArkham Knight delayed AGAIN to June 23rd. Only 22 days but still motherfuck.
The Rush series was excellent.
ReplyDeleteI forgot Injustice, I'll take back what I said. The thing about MK9 is that only picks up at the end where everyone DIES, but everyone is back at MK X so goodbye dramatic weight.
ReplyDeleteSonic Kart 2
ReplyDeleteDid Parker or Stone die? Comedy Central has been running South Park constantly for the last couple days.
ReplyDeleteThe difficulty there tho - how do you advance that effectively for the live crowd? If you need the announcers to carry the story that badly, I would argue the inring has failed.
ReplyDeleteThe announcers will not talk about the wrestling you tuned in for, but what they do talk about will still appeal to Harvey Korman's fanbase
ReplyDeleteAlways seemed to be the large breasted women too... ain't mad at em tho.
ReplyDeleteSpoiler, Bruce will die.
ReplyDeleteI want a house like Tony Montana
ReplyDeleteWow, that release was coming up soon too. Take thy beak from out thy heart, as Joker would say
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they can't call a match and simultaneously advance wwes corporate interests at the same time. An NFL announce crew doesn't have to suck that much, why do they?
ReplyDeleteI heard it was delayed until whenever I buy a new generation system, so 2018
ReplyDeleteYeah. It's like if the people that made Mario Kart made it.
ReplyDeleteI wanna a wife like Tony Montana had.
ReplyDeleteSo annoying. It was already delayed 8 months. Now another 3 week delay. I'm starting to get worried.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about looking that up, but I got out of the MK vibe after Deadly Alliance. And this is the guy who played the sub zero mythologies game.
ReplyDeleteI want his guns.
ReplyDeleteThey did give themselves a backdoor with all the souls trapped in the Netherrealm, when Raiden has to fight off all his dead friends. Plus they killed so many there was no way they were making a whole new roster from scratch without familiar faces.
ReplyDeleteEveryone wants that wife, shame is we always get stuck with the one Henry Hill had
ReplyDeleteEvery week, TPrincess is on the money with the posting of this thread.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping she will accept my Sergio Mendes serenade.
Miz getting a concussion 30 seconds didn't help either.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteYeah, if have to get married that bitch better be able to act.
ReplyDeleteMy little theory, Liu Kang is the true villain in MK X. Boon is hinting someone having a heel turn and from out of nowhere.
ReplyDeleteLook it up, it's amazing. It's the first MK game that gameplay wise holds up to the best in the genre and there's so much content to play through
ReplyDeleteThey wanna be real sure it isn't glitchy on release.
ReplyDeleteI want as much cocaine as Tony Montana had.
ReplyDeleteJust don't use the coke.
ReplyDeleteI could see it, they were hinting at that towards the end when he turns on Raiden
ReplyDeleteNo problem there, I hate that shit.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to buy a streaming device this week so I can watch Mania on TV instead of my computer. Any recommendations? Is there any kind of difference in quality between Roku, Apple TV, etc.?
ReplyDeleteIt'll be worth it if it's finally a AAA game that isn't broken at launch
ReplyDeleteExpanding on video game chat from earlier, favourite video games of each of my platforms I've owned over the years:
ReplyDeleteZX Spectrum: Fantasy Island Dizzy
Amiga: Megalomania
NES: Super Mario Bros 3 (still in the running, imo, for the best pure video game of all time)
Master System: R-Type
Gameboy: Tetris
Mega Drive: Kid Chamelon
SNES: Super Mario Kart (especially Battle Mode)
Early PC: Sim City
N64: Starfox
Dreamcast: Shenmue
Playstation: Pro Evolution Soccer
Gamecube: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
XBox: Knights of the Old Republic
Playstation 2: Grand Theft Auto III
That PC era: Civilisation 3
Playstation 3: Grand Theft Auto IV
XBox 360: Fallout 3
PS Vita: Thomas Was Alone
Playstation 4: The Binding of Isaac (seriously - I've not played any other PS4 game anywhere near as much)
Current PC era: Skyrim
I had a Game Gear too, but I can't really remember getting much joy out of it. Ended up letting my mum keep it as she was addicted to Columns. Also had a Gameboy Advance - which I just played the old Gameboy Tetris on, mainly - and a DS, which I only played brain training games on before giving to my nephew.
When I think about the amount of money I must've spent on gaming over the years, I'm borderline horrified!!
Roku 3. I can't harp on that enough.
ReplyDeleteOk you sold me. Between that and Def Jam I'll be busy. But I need to beat Hitman:Absolution first. That game is a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteUnless people hate-comment I don't think there'll be as much interest this year.
ReplyDeleteSecond theory, but I already see it's not happening. Scorpion as the main character in MK X.
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, I can't unsee "TP Princess"
ReplyDeleteAh go on, it'll be nice to get a mention seeing as I'm never awake for Raw normally! :D
ReplyDeleteA little known fact is that Hannah Montana's entire career was funded
ReplyDeletefrom the "inheritance" passed on to her by her deceased great uncle,
Tony.
I think I may second SMB3 as the GOAT.
ReplyDeleteAnd his beautiful wife Helena!
ReplyDeleteThat's what's getting me worried. They delayed it 8 months. That should probably be a safe enough buffer to make sure there are no kinks left.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting years for this. Please God don't let this disappoint.
SNES: Fire Pro x Premium
ReplyDeletePS1: Jackie Chan Stuntmaster
Genesis: Sonic 2
PS2:Def Jam Fight for NY
Xbox 360: MK9.
It was just about perfect in every way. I honestly think I could still pick it up and play it today as easily as I did back then, and probably remember the location of half the warp whistles too! :D
ReplyDeleteI really wanna play Eternal Darkness and System Shock 2, people say it's fucking scary.
ReplyDeleteShould be dirt cheap by now. But yeah, MK9 plays great and has enough stuff between Story, Arcade, and Challenge Tower modes that you can play it for months and not get bored. Also the AI lets up if you get stuck on a fight, which is a nice gesture considering there's a lot of handicap matches in Story.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the Fire Pro games in the UK back then, so I never got to experience the joy.
ReplyDeleteI do have a soft spot for the old Royal Rumble game on the SNES, though - it was surprisingly decent!
I don't remember much of System Shock 2, but the first one freaked the shit out of me.
ReplyDeleteEternal Darkness is probably just as much 'clever' as 'scary' - the first time it did the "corrupted savegame" thing when my sanity dropped, I crapped myself! Hahah!
SMB1 and 3 are my toss up for GOAT. 3 is superior, with maybe the greatest level design ever, but SMB1 might be the only game that everyone on this planet has enjoyed at some point or another.
ReplyDeleteThat pissed me off about every single Nintendo-made game. Mario Kart, Strikers, Baseball, Tennis and Golf all had AI that made you wanna punch a baby.
ReplyDeleteEvery Nintendo I owned my favourite game starts The Legend of Zelda.
ReplyDeletePC: Half Life
PS2: GTA San Andreas
360: Arkham City
Eternal Darkness was great, Nintendo needs more Mature games at that quality
ReplyDeleteNES: Mario 3
ReplyDeleteSNES: Link to the Past
Ps1: Parasite Eve
Ps2: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
N64: WCW/nWo Revenge
Xbox: GTA San Andreas
GameCube: Metroid Prime 2
NEO-GEO CD: Metal Slug
360: GTAV
That covers all the systems I've actually owned in order.
Can confirm, the cabin I spent Christmas at had an old NES and I replayed parts of 3, it all comes rushing back like riding a bike
ReplyDeleteRush 2049 for the Dreamcast was sick
ReplyDeleteI'm just going with my Nintendo home consoles, although I've owned a Sega Genesis, PS1, and several handhelds too.NES: Super Mario Bros 3 (followed closely by Duck Tales!)
ReplyDeleteSNES: Super Mario Kart
N64: Virtual Pro Wrestling 2
GameCube: Animal Crossing
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wii U: Super Mario 3D World
Wow...I was going to try and diversify to not have so many Mario games, but this is my honest list.
Do you realize what this place is? Of course people will hate-comment.
ReplyDeleteNintendo needs more quality games full stop, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of my list, I've actually just remembered I owned a Wii for about ten minutes before passing it onto my wee sister. I also owned a Virtual Boy, but can't remember much about the games as it gave me severe migraines after about ten minutes of play!
GTA San Andreas still awesome after 13 years!
ReplyDeleteReminds of what a steaming pile of shit Super Mario Bros 2 was.. especially compared to the other two.
ReplyDeleteI've been playing it again, the remastered 360 version.
ReplyDeleteHave you got the remastered Duck Tales? I think it's lost a step over the years and I was viewing it with a thick dose of nostalgia...
ReplyDeleteArkham City and San Andreas represent! Your list is one Red Dead Redemption away from being perfect.
ReplyDeleteSonic All Stars Racing and its sequel Transformed
ReplyDeleteBurnout Paradise
NFS Most Wanted (the 2012 game)
Split/Second
Blur
It was never a Mario game to begin with, and it absolutely showed.
ReplyDeleteYou ever play the proper Mario Bros 2 (released in the West as "The Lost Levels")? That shit was fiendish!
This post is begging for a Silky Johnson avatar change
ReplyDeleteSam Jackson as the villain and has a awesome story.
ReplyDeleteBest GTA game.
ReplyDeleteI hate the Mario Kart games for that reason alone.
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda ironic that Mario Kart is one of the most kid-friendly games...yet, it invokes the most amount of swearing in a group gaming session with friends.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it.. wow
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening all. I'll be back for the recap.
ReplyDeleteYeah I would've found a different Mario /. The Lost Levels plays like those fan made miss designed to kill you at every step
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't yet. I haven't really played my Wii U very much at all. The original still holds up for me though...it is fun for a quick 30-40 minute session where you can beat the entire game.
ReplyDeleteThey're not unsurprising picks in all honesty. I've always had Nintendos as a kid and if I picked my top 20 games of all time at least 15 of them would include the name Zelda, Mario or were made by Rare
ReplyDelete
