U.S. belt

With all the hoopla surrounding the I.C. and U.S. title matches at Mania and with WWE supposedly trying to bring back some prestige to each, wouldn't it be a good time to make a new U.S. belt? Its been over 10 years since WWE brought it back and its been the same belt since day one. Ive always thought the design was horrible.

Just like they did with the I.C. belt, they should bring back the classic design, from the late 80's.

Great looking belt. Nice and shiny.

I like shiny things.

    Say what you want about the builds to the respective matches - I actually think they've been maybe the best builds for the show - but the IC and US titles are actually coming off as more important than they've been in a while.

    I actually don't mind the current belt at all, but the WCW one was always one of my favourites.

    Well, they're stealing it because they want the actual IC title. At least it's about the title. Like I said, say what you want about the build, but at least it's about 7 guys wanting to be champion. Isn't that progress in some fashion?

    But yes, all the belts are due for a redesign. The Lisa Frank Notebook Divas Belt has to go, as do the Roman pennies that the tag champs have.

    Personally, I'm in favor of following the IC title's lead and going retro for all of them.

    the IC title is perfect except for the white strap ... it drives me crazy but I grew up with Warrior, Perfect, Bret, Shawn, and Razor as IC champs.


    The US title should be the one Lex Luger had back in 89.

    I wasn't watching during the US title bling belt era, and I had no idea until very recently that such a thing had existed. I agree that the US belt is ugly.

    The retro designs were some of the most iconic and best designs.

    Bring back the black strap for the IC Title as well.

    I totally and utterly disagree with this. Occasional minor changes maybe, but the historical significance and nostalgia factor are hugely important to me. I love that the belt I grew up seeing around the waist of Warrior, Rude, Von Erich, Perfect and Hart is still being contested. That alone adds significance to me. If there's a great design I'd personally never change it.

    But that's just my opinion

    Yeah, one of the few times I don't agree with Scott. Whether you're a fan of the story line or not the focus is on the belt, and it seems to mean something to everyone except Barrett because he keeps losing. No doubt they are just dangling a carrot in front of us because after tommorow it will be back to beating the champion to get a title shot because thats all they know how to build an ic title feud.

    I don't mind the spinner US title and I'm sure Mattel would be happy to have a kid friendly replica to sell again. It's the second / third tier belt so who cares if it's something fun for kids?

    Yeah, I think the story has done more good than harm. After WrestleMania is key though--do all of these guys still want to be IC champ and sort of become part of an IC title division? Or do they all forget about it and go off doing random stuff.
