Booking WrestleMania 32

As wrestling fans in general, and the internet wrestling community in particular, we are usually second guessing booking decisions of the current product, and retro booking big shows from the past.    With that said, this year's coming Wrestlemania is shaping up to be a disappointment compared to efforts in year's past.  A lot of it has to do with the staleness of the current product, injuries to some of the bigger stars of the roster, and my favorite current meme, "Vince is gonna Vince". As I'm sure a lot of other people are already doing, I've been thinking of ways to make the show more entertaining than it's currently shaping up to be.  Now before I go much further, let me stress that I'm working with the knowledge that Daniel Bryan won't be cleared to go, and the rest of the injured won't be healthy either. Here is what part of the card is expected to be: WWE Championship - Triple H vs. Roman Reigns Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt Unde...

Plug Request

> Hey Scott, > > Like most of the people who e-mail you, I am a long time reader, regular commenter, etc. Unlike most of the people who e-mail you, I believe myself to be of sound mind and body... > > I was hoping you might be willing to plug my new music website on the BoD: > > Http://www.majorduke.com > > We just (re)-launched it today and I know the Scott Keith rub can help us get off to a great start. If you don't want to post it, I'd understand-  It's not wrestling related - but on the other hand, it's not a question about Roman Reigns, rebooking the InVasion, Montreal, or the Mount Rushmore of wrestling, so maybe it will be a nice change of pace. > > Thanks! > > -Duke (BoD Fly Academic)

Murderer: The Pro-Avery Evidence

http://www.avclub.com/article/read-pro-steven-avery-list-what-was-left-out-makin-230634 Just to counteract all the "Steven Avery was a creepy guy who stalked Halbach" stuff floating around lately, here's the other side, with the scientific stuff that mostly excludes Avery from being where he was supposed to have been. And more "the police were incompetent" fun.   Also, I know this is apples to oranges in a way, but Obama claiming that he can't do anything to help out Avery because it's a state legal matter, but that he's totally able to send someone to assassinate Bin Laden halfway across the world...that's kind of fucked up priorities, isn't it?

Racism in the NFL

Hey Scott, I know that you aren't a football guy, but this is an article by ESPN about a pretty cool study that was just done. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14549971/study-nfl-coaching-diversity-crisis   That feels like getting worked up over something that's not that big of an issue.  I mean, you certainly can't argue that there's not racial diversity in the NFL as a whole.

Making a Murderer: Another View

http://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/making-a-murderer-compelling-but-is-it-a-game-changer-in-steven-avery-case-b99647809z1-364794271.html This is obviously one of the few pieces about Making a Murderer that is slanted in the other direction, written by a reporter in Wisconsin, so it's someone a little more inside that bubble at the time.  I think everyone acknowledges that, yes, Steven Avery is kind of a shitty person, and yes, he could very well be guilty.  However, at the very least there's so much hinky behavior from the police and the legal system during the process that at the very least Avery deserves a new trial, and in fact a mistrial should have been called on two different occasions.  Even if he was guilty, officers planting evidence should be "reasonable doubt", shouldn't it?

Danimal Presents... Phallic Food Friday

It's Friday Fun Day! What better way to enjoy the day than reading a graphic depiction of a man's stent being removed from his urethra.

Friday Film Fiesta

Welcome to the Friday Film Fiesta! For those of you who don't know, this is a weekly column originally created by 411Mania's Joseph Lee, who writes A Bloody Good Time every week. He wrote the column for roughly a year until his commitments to 411Mania and real life made it difficult to write. I took the column over in September 2011 as a way to complain about an announced Stretch Armstrong movie starring Taylor Lautner. That project ended up being canceled, but I continued writing the Fiesta until July 2015. I figured I would try to reboot it again for Rantsylvania as a place for visitors to discuss movies and TV shows. Normally each week will have a goofy title along with a picture of an attractive female celebrity I'm digging that week, or even a goofy, relevant meme (say Steve Harvey saying something wrong), followed by an introduction and then the results of a poll. The long winded introduction more than works for this week, so let's get to it! Box Office News :...

10 Reasons Why I Love DDP Yoga

Hey Scott, One of my New Year's resolutions was to try blogging more again. I thought I'd try bringing back Top 10 Tuesdays. For my latest one, I discuss 10 Reasons Why I Love DDP Yoga. Would you kindly share this with the BoD so I can ride your coattails a bit? You're great, thanks! http://nickpiers.com/2016/01/05/10-reasons-why-i-love-ddp-yoga/ Nick Piers

RSPW/Theszies live

Scott: the Theszies are now open for voting. http://mightygodking.com/2016/01/06/the-2015-theszies-rspw-awards-call-for-votes/ (I note that both the Blog of Doom and Whatculture are nominated in Best Wrestling Media.) --  I haven't written for WhatCulture in a couple of years, although apparently I still have an open invitation to do so.

New Comic Book Day

It's my favorite day of the week! Not only do I have the day off, but I get to buy some new comics! The only thing that would make it better is if Arrow was back from it's hiatus. I only have two more weeks to go for that. I'm sure I'll survive.

Everyone Loves LA!

http://www.tsn.ca/chargers-rams-raiders-file-for-l-a-relocation-1.418082 Not that I care about football, but two things stand out for me about this ridiculous story: 1)  The Chargers' owner somehow expecting that SIXTY PERCENT of a fucking football stadium should be funded by taxpayer money.   2)  Road Warrior Animal Jr. getting quoted at the end of the article. Good for him on making the NFL!

Scott Sawitz's Kickstarter

Friends, family, former co-workers, people I know professionally… and the occasional former supervisor, Many of you know that my writing partner, Mike Noyes, and I have been working on a script for the last year entitled "Confessions of a Superhero." It's a simple premise: a superhero and a super villain are roommates and best friends, but don't know each other's secret identities. Set in San Francisco, the series follows a night in the life of the duo. John is Captain Liberty and has assembled the Legion of Valor together for their weekly poker night. They have a new member to induct, as well, and discussions of all things super heroic are on the table. Blake is Professor Payne, wannabe conqueror of the Bay Area, and has a hot first date with a girl he met online. Also he has a death ray to complete; taking over the world isn't as easy as it sounds. Basically, we've come up with a shoe string budget and a hilarious project that we'd like to sho...

Music Mailbag

Scott, Went back today and was reading some of your reviews for the show Rock Star (which I also loved, by the way - much more fun than Idol and the Voice), and was curious about a few things... 1) Did you ever listen to JD's stuff with INXS? Is it any good? I feel like I listened to Pretty Vegas but never followed up with the other stuff. Looks like that whole thing was derailed by boat loads of coke on JD's part, but he still lasted over 5 years as their lead singer, so that's something. In a sense.  JD has basically said that he was nothing more than just a hired gun for one big tour and they never really had plans for him outside of the ones forced on them by the reality show deal.  It was really only the Switch album that he had any active participation on, and it basically sounded like JD Fortune singing over leftover stuff.  It was decent, but Pretty Vegas was the only thing you need to hear on it.    2) In your reviews of the second season, you talk about your lo...
